Re: Could Marvel's Blade Come to PS5? Bethesda Declines to Comment

ThaBEN

@Deityjester I'm not talking about game lenght or production value, but about brand recognition. Marvel's Blade is an more recognizable IP than the other titles you mentioned. Starfield is as far as I know just one single game and I honestly dont even know what Redfail is.
The character Blade has been around for decades anf appeared in dozens of comics, cartoon series, multiple live action movies and games.
That brand recognition is what is going to drive sales right of the bat.

Re: PS Plus Extra Game Teardown Is Out Now on PS5

ThaBEN

I'm still debating getting the physical Deluxe Edition, or the Digital Ultimate Edition which includes the season pass.
I love physical games, but the Digtal Ultimate edition is the better deal. The game is only 4 Gb in size. So I'm in doubt...

Re: Mini Review: Teardown (PS5) - Delightful Voxel-Based Destruction

ThaBEN

@ROTTIEMAN16
I don't know man. But this is what the offical FAQ states in regards to ray tracing:

Q; Can I turn off ray tracing to get better performance?
A: No. Teardown does not use a conventional renderer since there are no polygons. Ray tracing is part of the core voxel renderer and cannot be disabled.

Re: Mini Review: Teardown (PS5) - Delightful Voxel-Based Destruction

ThaBEN

@Pranwell
No worries!
On PS5 in Performance Mode, the game manages to average around 120 FPS at 1080p.
Quality mode takes the resolution a step even further, kicking it up to 1620p and averaging 60 FPS.
The game looks incredibly gorgeous, as it utilizes the power of the gameplay’s physics system’ with the added benefit of the lighting system and ray tracing.

Re: Audio Experts Are in Love with PS5's New Pulse Explore Earbuds

ThaBEN

I need to know how they work with PS VR2. Regular Bluetooth headsets (except Sony's own Pulse 3D) will have too much audio delay when using in VR.
However, I believe that is no longer the issue with these Pulse Explore Earbuds.
I would like to have confirmation how they work with PS VR2 before making a final decision.
Would be nice to be able to use good sounding small earbuds instead of the 3D Pulse, which can be a bit cumbersome to use in combination with PS VR2 because you need to place those over the PS VR2 headset.

Re: Mortal Kombat 1's Microtransaction Backlash Prompts Free Fatalities

ThaBEN

People complain about paid seasonal fatailities.
WB respone: We're going to release a whole bundle of
Paid Seasonal Fatalities next week, you get 2 for free!

This is not a solution and only panders to the people who were stupid enough to buy this overpriced content to begin with.

That's the same logic as giving vegetarians more steaks, after you accidentally served them steak, instead of lettuce.

Re: Rumour: One of Assassin's Creed Red's Protagonists Is Based on African Samurai Yasuke

ThaBEN

@MrMagic
Yes, but the difference is that in there all characters are black. That's more in the vein of the movie Ghost Dog with Forrest Whitaker.

As I understand in AC: Red, you're playing the only black guy, a ex-slave to be precise, in a in feudal Japan in which I assume everyone else is asian. That's probably not what most players had in mind, who have been waiting for a AC game in a Feudal Japan setting for years now.

I'm not against it, just don't be surprised if this game will catch some heat because of that choice.
It's just as weird as playing Assassins Creed Freedom Cry as a white slave in the lead, which existed in that period as well.

Re: Rumour: One of Assassin's Creed Red's Protagonists Is Based on African Samurai Yasuke

ThaBEN

@STOBO
Good point, but that movie was released in pre-woke era. Before people were getting fed up with gender/race swapping.
If The Last Samurai was released today, I'll think it will be received different than how the people in 2003 reacted to it.
But even then there was controversy about The Last Samurai attracting negative press for perceived racial insensitivity for casting Tom Cruise as a samurai.

Re: Do a Barrel Roll in Project Wingman: Frontline 59 on PS5, PSVR2

ThaBEN

@Perturbator
Switchback & Firewall Ultra were inexcusable since those were console exclusives. The others could be the result of lazy ports.
Maybe when the Quest 3 is released we might see a slight bump in visual quality for the multiplatform games.

Other than games we expected to be good to turn out terrible, there are also some games that we expected to be bad but turn out to be good. Unfortunately they do not get as much attention as they deserve.

Zombieland Headshot Fever Reloaded 2 is one of those titles which had a massive visual overhaul for PS VR2. Moss and Vacation Simulator are some others that pleasantly surprised me.

Re: Mortal Kombat 1 Developer Teases Future Ghostface, Jigsaw DLC Villainy

ThaBEN

@DennisReynolds
I agree! If I'm not mistaken, Ghostface is just a normal dude who dresses up like that. Although I haven't seen SCREAM movies after part 2 or 3, so maybe that changed.

All the other characters are supernatural beings, which fit more into the game if you ask me.

Although, Jigsaw is also just a dude. The famous puppet we see is just his avatar he uses to scare people and not an actual being.

Re: Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs Slingshots onto PSVR2 Next Month

ThaBEN

Those who already own the game for the PS4 for the original PlayStation VR will be presented with an $9.99 upgrade option. Otherwise Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs will be available for purchase for $19.99.

Also unique to Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs PS VR2 is the online level builder which expands the amount of content exponentially, depending on the community. Sharing user generated content online was a feature not available as part of the original PS VR1 version.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Mortal Kombat 1?

ThaBEN

I love fighting games but suck at competing online. Therefore, Mortal Kombat 1 is a godsend for me with tho focus on singleplayer content an a story mode with over 4 hours of amazing cutscenes (on top of each individual tower ending sequence)!
As a singleplayer gamer, this is easily a 9/10 and must buy fighting game for me!!!

Re: Marvel's Avengers Is Dirt Cheap Ahead of Getting Thanos Snapped Later This Month

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite Character Pass 60% discount
Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite Premium Costume Pass 80% discount

Re: FMV Classic The 7th Guest Arrives on PSVR2 in Time for Halloween

ThaBEN

Les Mills Bodycombat uses FMV for their trainers as well. That looks so freaking amazing to see "real" people in 3D inside VR, instead of a CGI rendered character!
I feel this one is going to be really special just for the fact that they use 3D scanned FMV actors!
It's going to make the experience feel so much more immersive and lifelike!

Re: PlayStation Portal Is Sony's PS5 Remote Play Handheld, Priced at $200 / £200

ThaBEN

I like the idea, but without WiFi it's completely useless. Portable is meant to take it with you anywhere. If i'm already home I will just turn on the PS5.
When I'm in another room at home, I probably prefer to use the official PlayStation Remote Play app and stream to my PC or laptop than using a PlayStation Portal, because the PlayStation Portal has a smaller screen.

Re: Iconic N64 Shooter Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion Will Aim at PS5, PS4

ThaBEN

I played and loved the first two games on the N64. If I remember correctly, I skipped the third one because it seemed that it was mainly focussed on local multiplayer PvP matches and less on singleplayer campaign.
Can anyone confirm this? Been a long while, so I might be mistaken with another game of the era.
And if my memory serves me correct, any mention of this version getting online multiplayer support?

Re: Random: Influencer Brings Bedlam to New York City After Promising Free PS5s

ThaBEN

I still feel we should give this influencer the benefit of the doubt. I havn't seen his messages for people to come to New York and therefore cannot judge if he had ill intentions in mind, like inciting a riot and cause uproar. Or that it was a miscalculated judgment of the situation.
If he had honest good intentions then it feels wrong to hold him accountable for the reactions of his "fans".
Having said that, they should punish those participating in the riots severely!

Re: Assassin's Creed Mirage Nowhere Near the Length of Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla

ThaBEN

It doesn't need to be a problem as long as missions and side quests have quality. They need to add to the story and overall experience. Just don't give us 20 hours of uninteresting forgettable fetch quests like collecting feathers.
I need this game to be good.
If it sucks, this will probably be my last game in this franchise.
I found Odyssey underwhelming and Valhalla a major letdown.
The promise of returning to their roots with Mirage is the only thing keeping me interested at this moment. I need Ubisoft to fulfill that promise.
