Yakuza 0 for me! All this Bloodborne talk in the comments reminds me I still need to go beat The One Reborn and finish up that game. I just hate the run up to him and he's the first boss I'm having serious trouble beating...
@Clutch_Nixon I'm pretty hit and miss on these "walking simulators" myself. Hated Gone Home and Rapture, but I absolutely loved What Remains of Edith Finch. I would rank that game very high on my favorites of all time.
Lucky enough to have a Spotify student account with Hulu included for $4.99/month since I'm still in college, but this is an ok deal for people who subscribe to both services anyway.
Really enjoyed Thimbleweed Park and Oxenfree, so I'll check this out. Nice to have these kinds of games to give me a break between sessions of something like Bloodborne or Monster Hunter World.
I've never played a MGS game and don't plan on making this my first regardless of what score it has on here. $10 for an extra save slot is absolutely ridiculous and I will never support always-online for single player content. Didn't buy GT Sport for that same reason.
MonHun World this weekend for me. Possibly some Bloodborne too. I also recently purchased a Gameboy Micro, so I'll be digging into my GBA collection at some point!
I mained the long sword in tri and the insect glaive in generations. Both excellent and very fun weapons. Think I'll try out the bow this time around, especially after enjoying Horizon so much!
Not a racing game huh? Well it's nice to see studios branch out from what they are most known for. We can only hope this turns out as good as Horizon did for GG.
@MrGawain fair point. I can't really argue against you there, everyone has their own likes and dislikes in this hobby. Also, I'm looking forward to buying a Switch when some more of the big hitters (Pokemon, Metroid, Fire Emblem) come out. But I'm loving my PS4 at the moment and I personally think it had an excellent year when it comes to games. I'm glad you are enjoying your Switch so much!
@MrGawain we gonna pretend Hell Blade, Gravity Rush, Yakuza, Nier, and Horizon don't exist then? Definitely different from what the mainstream usually play and all released this year. By your argument, Switch got Zelda 5000 and Mario 10000. Yawn
(Just so you know, I love Nintendo and owned both a Wii U and 3DS. I'm super happy with where the Switch is at and the games look amazing. Just don't appreciate the blanket statement that PS4 games have no originality.)
Whether I like Persona 5 or Horizon better just depends on my mood when you ask. Both games are masterpieces in my eyes. Recently picked up Gravity Rush remastered, and I've fallen in love with it so I'm sure the second will be among my favorites as well. Still need to grab Nier too. Not interested in the rest of the list, all great games for sure, just not on my radar.
I just finished P5 yesterday and it was one of those games I just didn't want to end. I loved everything about it. I've been playing since release and "taking my time" with it! Now that I've finished I have a persona shaped hole in my world...well at least until I start a new game+ that is!
@KirbyTheVampire I agree with you that the formula for ND games is pretty much a given at this point. And if I'm being honest much of what Sony's first party studios are putting out seem to be third person action games here lately, so a gameplay trailer, for me, would highlight everything that make this different from those other games, even though I already kind of know what to expect having played the first game.
Playing through Uncharted 3 and possibly defeating the 7th palace boss in Persona 5. I'm actually liking UC3 better than the first two. All of the mechanics feel so much more refined and everything is just buttery smooth from the controls to the way the cutscenes blend into the gameplay. As for P5, I'm really just looking for reasons not to finish the game because I don't want it to end.
Tough choice between Okami and A Hat in Time. I absolutely love Okami but never got around to finishing it because my first copy was burned when my PS3 caught on fire (long story) and I never could get used to the motion controls for attacking on Wii. Will definitely be picking it up on PS4.
"We're trying to build games that last for years, not for months" Remembers all the times playing Mario Kart, Smash, Super Mario, and Zelda games and going back to them even years later: yeah, no I don't think you are doing this right EA...
@BAMozzy thanks for taking the time to give me such an informed answer! 40" is definitely the max for the foreseeable future unfortunately. I hadn't checked out the MU7000 yet so I'll look into that! Honestly I'm upgrading from a very cheap 32" so anything is going to be an improvement, just wanted to make sure I was making a worthwhile investment.
@BAMozzy question for ya since you seem to know your stuff on TV's. I only have space for a 40" TV in my setup and my options for 4K are pretty limited because of that. A model that I've found that also supports HDR is the Samsung UN40MU6300. It's an older set but in my price range. As far as you can tell is this a good purchase or should I continue to look around?
@WanderingBullet that would definitely be an interesting twist! Being able to change weapons based on which monster you ran into while exploring/which part you needed to break without having to leave the hunt and return to the village would be an awesome change!
@Th3solution the combat is pretty different from Horizon. Each weapon type has a moveset attached and learning them is similar to learning the moves of a character in a fighting game especially after the introduction of hunter arts.
Guess I need to add this back to my wish list. Not interested in the online focus, but if there's a brilliant single player added I'll definitely check it out.
There is so much I could say about this conversation but I'll keep it short and sweet: I only play single player games, so when they cease to exist I will no longer be buying games.
@Ralizah same developer but very different gameplay mechanics. Bastion is more action oriented whereas Transistor is more about strategy and planning out your attacks and Pyre looks to be a turn based rpg similar to old Final Fantasy games.
EDIT: actually I was wrong, Pyre's combat looks different than a typical turn based rpg. Actually not quite sure what's going on based on the trailer I watched...
Just started bloodborne recently, still playing P5 and a bit of uncharted 2 remastered. BluePoint are geniuses when it comes to these remasters, really excited to see what they can do with shadow of the Colossus
Hey Capcom likes to port games right? I mean, look at the RE series. So can we get Okami on PS4 please? That'd be sweet. As for Sony stuff, I'd like to see the first Jak game get the Ratchet and Clank treatment.
I am more excited for this than any other game announced. The trailer did look a bit odd... Like something was just kind of, idk, off about it. Hopefully we get to see more soon. Would love to see some returning monsters, felynes, towns/the central hub.
I'm looking for it to have a great single player campaign that's offline but it seems more like EA's take on Destiny. If that's the case I'll have to skip out because I don't enjoy online multiplayer games too much but hope it turns out to be excellent either way.

Days Gone - Looks like a mix of Horizon and Last of Us and I'm personally loving it
Monster Hunter World - It's the return of Monster Hunter to console. Tri got me into MH and I can't wait to play more on my TV.
Shadow of the Colossus - Never got around to playing this. With BluePoint in charge this will be a day one purchase for me.
