Re: Erica - FMV Masterclass Worthy of Your Attention

jgrangervikings1

@Lekzie1

RE2...a beautifully realized yet rehashed zombie/mutant remake originally made 21 years ago...but updated and modernized— polished and waxed to a high-gloss shine—for $59.99...
or
Erica...a unique, dynamic video gaming experience that blends real acting and filmmaking with user choice options in an easily digestible, 2-hour single-sitting play time, with myriad play-through opportunities and multiple game outcomes, all at an affordable $9.99 price point.

I’d say they both would be right around an 8 score, though I’m generous and would likely give ‘em both a 9. 😀

Re: Sony Doesn't Think It Talked About PS Now Enough

jgrangervikings1

I’d like to see Sony give the PS+ user the option each month of choosing the PS+ games offered or going with a month of PSNow. For example, SonicMania and Borderlands are great games that reviewed well and were well received, but I already have Borderlands and Sonic—meh. But a month of PSNow instead? Heck yeah I’d give it a go...and if I like it, I’d probably pay for it as a separate service alongside PS+ because I nearly always want at least one of the PS+ games anyway.

Re: Cuphead Still Isn't Releasing on PS4, But It Will Come to Tesla Cars

jgrangervikings1

So...the Tesla would come with fancy video game controllers, too? Or would it be a silly touchscreen version? And will they allow users to play the game while the vehicle is operating? Seems a bit dangerous...unless it’s a self-driving car. And, yes, I know the argument will be that it’s to be played by the passenger—not the driver—but we all know gamers who’d game & drive if given the opportunity.

Re: Talking Point: What Free June 2019 PS Plus Games Do You Want?

jgrangervikings1

In looking at the recent past, August 2016 releases seem to be PS+ heavy: Abzu, Bound, Overcooked, Deus Ex, Hue, Grow Up (which is the sequel to PS+ Grow Home), and Metrico+ (Metrico on Vita was a PS+ game).

The August 2016 releases that haven’t yet come to PS+ include No Man’s Sky, Resident Evil 4, King of Fighters XIV, and Attack on Titan. I’m guessin’ one of those will be on PS+ very soon...probably No Man’s Sky. Or maybe they’ll theow a curveball and release September 2016’s Darkest Dungeon.

Re: The PS Vita Is Dead, Long Live Playdate

$150 for a black & white display and d-pad with two buttons and a crank. Oh, boy!

Don’t get me wrong; I’d love to try it. And, It’s a fun conversation piece. Ultimately, though, it’d be an expensive paper weight after the initial novelty factor wears off, likely after 20-30 minutes of gameplay. But, hey, it’s a mobile paper weight, so I could move it from one pile of papers to another.

What Remains of Edith Finch is one of the best game experiences I’ve ever had in my 42 years of life. My 12 year old and her friend were enraptured, too. It’s worth your time!

FPS fanboys who expect bullets, bombs, bashing and blood may not play it long enough to get to the juicier, more twisted parts of Finch, but that’s their problem. Patience pays, pal! Besides, COD, Conan Exiles, and The Surge were recently featured freebies, and the gaming community needs exposure to true gems like Finch.

PS+ subscription is worth every penny.

Re: Soapbox: Sony's Server Shutdown Strategy Is Making the Publisher a Laughing Stock

jgrangervikings1

It’d just be better if Sony’s disclaimer would be more clear up front when purchasing the games, like, “Sony is committed to keeping the online servers functional and in operating order for a period of at least __ years from (game title’s) release date of _____, and the announcement of the online server’s decommission date will be publicly posted (URL here) and in scrolling text upon the game’s start screen at a bare minimum of ______ days prior to the event.”

The user may not like it, but at least the expectations would be made really clear up front, and the user would know what he’s working with.

Re: PS4 Firmware Update 6.51 Released, But It's Nothing Fancy

jgrangervikings1

I’d also like to see a robust screenshot feature that gives the cool lighting options, angles, and such (like on The Order 1886...or Steep...or God of War...or The Show) that works with all games. With Sony owning this standard tool, the game development companies could save development time by not investing time/energy/money into creating game-specific screenshot tools, and the user would benefit by having just have one standard, robust image saver/manipulator tool to learn how to use.

Re: PS4 Firmware Update 6.51 Released, But It's Nothing Fancy

I want sortable options on trophies. Sort by PS3, PS4, Vita...sort alphabetically by game name...sort by percentage of trophies completed...sort by games with platinum trophies vs. non-plat-able games.

Changing gears, I want to be able to put the same game into multiple folders. I have my favorites in a “Jim’s favorites” folder, but I also want those games to show up in alphabetical folders I’ve created.

I want to be able to pin my game folders so that they don’t move around. I have alphabetical game folders created, and I don’t want the “KLM” folder to display before my “ABC” folder because I most recently played, say, Life is Strange—that’s just plain dumb.

I want to be able to choose which app icons appear in what order on the TV & Video screen. And, I want Sony to either keep the YouTube icon white or red...don’t switch it up “every now and again.”

I want to be able to choose the background music that goes along with the wallpaper image I’ve chosen...and I should be able to upload whatever background tune I want to use.

On my friend list, I want to be able to pin certain friends so that they stay at the top of the list.

And there’s probably other stuff I want to do, too, dammit!

Re: Borderlands 2 VR - A Handsome Adaptation

jgrangervikings1

Borderlands 2 really helped to sell the Vita. What, maybe 20-30 million people bought a Vita just for a new port of an old game? I’m sure this release will have the same impact on VR sales.

In all seriousness, though, Borderlands 2 is a fantastic game, and if I didn’t have motion sickness issues, I’d consider getting VR...and if I already had invested in VR, I’d probably pony up the bucks for Borderlands 2. I mean, in the last few years I ponied up the bucks for the PS3, PS4, and Vita versions, so, hey, why not VR, too, right?!

Re: Asterix & Obelix XXL 2: Mission: Las Vegum - Well Done But Well Expensive

jgrangervikings1

The price of $49.99 seems to sway the score, and that makes sense. For a premium price, you expect premium product. It’s hard to give a PS2-era update a premium score if there are plenty of other lower priced games that are as good as this. That doesn’t mean this isn’t a good game, though. It just means it’s disappointing for a premium price.

If the game was $19.99, would the score change? To probably...a 7? And at $9.99, the score would probably be an 8? Or is a score of 5 going to stay a 5 regardless of whether it’s $50 or $2.99?

It’d be fascinating to have a “secondary” score based on price...something like “It’s worth your time when the price is $____.”

Re: November PS Plus Games Seemingly Outed by Official PlayStation Website

jgrangervikings1

Bulletstorm doesn’t get the love it deserves. That game is great fun.

It’s the name. The name “Bulletstorm” is dumb, dumb, dumb. The game is all about the arm leash, yet the title indicates it’s all about the bullets. Same thing with “Killzone”—another great series with a terribly bland, forgettable name that doesn’t encapsulate what it’s all about.

Re: Telltale Games Effectively Shuttered After Enormous Layoffs

jgrangervikings1

That’s too bad. I love Telltale Games’ games. My wife “took over” my tv with the PS4 last weekend, so I went back to the other tv and I played through the first episode of Jurassic Park. Even with that game, you could see the potential and the amazing future that would come about for Telltale, with instant classics The Walking Dead, The Wolf Among Us, and Tales from the Borderlands. It’s unfortunate there was such a explosion of output, and I think they did supersaturate their own market. Their titles need to breathe. More time between games is important; to create a larger sense of longing and anticipation is essential to build buzz and grow the base. It’s so hard to remain relevant in this industry, though, because there are so many gaming choices out there. I wish the staff well. They’re brilliant people with so much talent.

Re: Review: Red Faction: Guerrilla Re-Mars-tered (PS4)

jgrangervikings1

If you’ve never played the PS3 version, this was a great game. Sounds as though the updates have improved the experience, and the decision to buy this should be a no brainer for 3rd person action/adventure fans. I’m not an open world fan, but I did get into this one on PS3, so don’t let that hold you back. That hammer is fun, fun, fun.

Re: Review: New Gundam Breaker (PS4)

jgrangervikings1

Twenty hours in, knowing it’s crap, and still playing? That’s dedication. I realize it’s a review, but sheesh! Push Square should institute a two-hour rule. If you’re two hours in and you think it’s a 3 or less, please stop playing. It’s bad. We’ll take your word for it.

Poor guy. I hope you’re okay.
