@WhiteRabbit I played Thumper once and I think I liked it. I still haven't bought Tetris Effect, though, because I find it a bit expensive, even with the price cut. When it goes below £20, I'll bite!
@WhiteRabbit Thanks I tried that with several games, but it breaks immersion. I just choose on rails games instead like Pistol Whip and Transformers or rhythmic games like Beat Saber and Beat the Beats. Synapse was ace, but also painful, so I only played it once and can't recommend it highly enough.
@IOI actually, it doesn't say "everything". It says something. It hasn't performed as well as they had hoped. But how exactly it has performed remains a mystery.
@Bez87 some very successful games never looked amazing or to have mass appeal before they took off. I mean, Minecraft with those graphics? Fall Guys with those controls? Rocket League, a game where you play football with ... cars? The untitled Goose game?
@WhiteRabbit yeah, I've heard about that from quite a few people, but I haven't played it myself (though I bought it last year I think). Walking in VR gives me migraines, unfortunately.
@MegaManX-7 I get what you're saying, but you still didn't answer my question. If you were in their shoes and had their limited budget, what would you do to make a sequel happen?
@CrashBandicoat considering how many gamers "cared" about The Last Guardian as opposed to how much it sold when it actually came out, this isn't a surprise at all.
@MegaManX-7 what would you do if you were in their shoes and wanted to make a sequel? It's not like they are a huge studio with seemingly unlimited funds, so in order to make a sequel, they need to convince potential investors that there is an interest in it.
@SmileMan64 of course it is. But Nintendo doesn't rely on those additional IPs. The success of Mario and Pokemon alone (especially considering how much less they cost compared to realistic games like God of War, The Last of Us, etc) is more than enough to carry Nintendo. Sony doesn't have that. The closest thing they've had to an evergreen title is Spider-man.
@TheDaddyOtaku that's because they know if one of them succeeds, it can be wildly successful (see Helldivers 2, the best selling game of the year so far). SOCOM and Killzone can sell decently, but they're unlikely to do particularly well. They may make a small profit.
@SmileMan64 Yes, but Nintendo has several strong IPs that have been milked to death. Can you imagine Sony making Little Big Planet tennis, Little Big Planet football, Little Big Planet RPG, etc? No matter how much they'd invest, their games would never be successful.
@Art_Vandelay no. Automation is absolutely fine. What's not fine is constantly trying to cut costs at the customer's expense. I find waiting in huge lines because they hire fewer and fewer people unacceptable. Same with forcing you to use online platforms and ATMs by charging for every single thing when you visit the bank (e.g. withdrawing money, cashing a check, writing a check, etc). Options are fine. Charging if you choose to interact with a human being, not so much.
Also, it depends on what counts for unemployment. In some countries, if you work two months per year, you're not counted as unemployed. In other countries, you are. And even if you are employed, if you don't make enough to support yourself and have to live with your parents (a worldwide phenomenon), then is unemployment the best criterion to use to determine the effects of automation or AI?
@nomither6 but their jobs were affected. Most banks I visit have very few employees working (usually one is supposed to help all customers, because almost everything is done online.
@FEWGEE1 plenty of older people love Lego games and they've offered hundreds if not thousands of games over the years. So that's an exaggeration if I ever saw one. They probably gave away just as many Assassin's Creed games through plus.
@CieloAzure obviously you don't have to support it, but for anyone who's genuinely interested in it, it has enough games to last for years even if no other game was released from today on. And more keep being announced. So, though Sony first party games are pretty much non existent, it's well supported by third parties.
@Tecinthebrain that's exactly how I feel about it. Really like the show back in the day and now I just separate the art from the artist and I still greatly enjoy it. If they could add both of them, it'd be a huge win for them.
@jrt87 actually it's literally impossible to talk about the majority. We have no evidence to make such a claim, either that most haven't tried it and that's the reason they don't see value in it or that most have and simply didn't like it.
I can only speak for myself. I really enjoyed some PSVR1 games, but hated setting it up every time. Playing PSVR games became a chore. The experience on PSVR2 has been vastly different. I almost play every day and love it. Had I not tried PSVR2, I'd probably think it's similar to the previous model and never bother to get it. But that's just me.
@LifeGirl you're missing the point people are raising. Obviously some have tried it and didn't like it for whatever reason. That goes without saying. Just like there isn't a single game ever released that every person on the planet has tried and liked/loved.
The point many are raising is that VR offers a unique experience that any kind of description pales in comparison to the product offered. There isn't something similar that one can compare it to to give others an idea of what it feels like. That's why some have suggested booths where one would get to try a game and see for oneself. They may like it, they may not, but at least they'll have first hand experience. As opposed to something like Stellar Blade or Mario Wonder whose appeal is obvious to someone interested in that kind of a game.
@B_Lindz I don't think Nintendo is an indication of anything. I mean, they don't offer price cuts for their games even when stop selling (e.g. Kid Icarus). It's a different strategy. Similar logic applies to their consoles. Even when they're struggling to sell, they're always sold with at least some profit in mind, as opposed to Sony and MS that are/were more willing to take a hit to reach more households.
Also, there is a reason ps2 and ps3 sale exploded after they got a price cut. It's not just games that sell a console, but also price and perceived value. That xbox boss was right when he said that the race to 10m consoles sold is the most important one. Whoever gets there first and with as wide lead from the second as possible, wins the console race, because most people tend to buy whatever is considered most popular.
@Nyne11Tyme Well said. I'm buying it day 1 to send Sony a message. I was playing Concrete Genie today for the first time and felt guilty for not supporting it when I had the chance to and getting it for free (though plus) instead.
Let's all embrace this game and make it a success!
@NEStalgia "LOL,the phone market is a weird market. And the Apple market in general. It's not about how good the phone is. Does the latest phone really do anything that the 5 year old phones didn't do exactly the same? Not unless you play games on it and need the power in which case it's just a tiny console. The phone upgrade is a fashion accessory and status symbol. It's not for YOU, it's for everyone who sees you wearing it. It's Italian shoes. A new fur coat. It's an iPhone Pro!"
I genuinely couldn't agree more. But it goes to show that people are certainly still willing to pay big bucks for something they see as a must have. I have several friends who bought a ps5 as soon as it was in stock and hardly used it afterwords. They even to ask friends for a loan. Just so that they can have it and... not use it. They weren't even showing it off, like people do with iphones, macbooks, ipads, applewatches, etc.
As for paying 500 USD or more for an accessory (i.e. on top of something expensice), I present you... airpods!
@Ilyn I know, right? My partner recently bought me an iphone for like 1000 euro and for the life of me, I don't get what's so special about it compared to my OnePlus from several years ago. But when I bought a ps5, that was deemed unnecessary, since I still haven't played all my ps3 and ps4 games.
@OldGamer999 you can always count on Nintendo for great exclusives. They sometimes take a while, but excellent 1st party games will be released eventually. So at best you'll get it day 1, at worst, wait a few months for them to be released. But it's a sure bet. Even WiiU had great games.

I think the fact that it's a three part seriously affected its sales. I know I'm waiting for the complete edition, whenever it comes out.
