Re: Soapbox: Don't Let Psychonauts 2 Pass You By

pip_muzz

It's baffling that there are some people here refusing to play the game because it doesn't have a PS5 version, or because Double Fine are now owned by Microsoft.
I'm a fan of video games. I love gaming. I have and always will enjoy playing a good game.
Seems some people are a bigger fan of Sony the company itself than they are their actual hobby....

Re: PS5, PS4's Elden Ring Is 'Very Difficult But Can Be Handled'

pip_muzz

At least the loading should be much quicker after dying on the newer consoles. What frustrates me in these games is just how long it takes to get back to the point of failure. Challenging, hard, punishing gameplay is one thing. Long load times, checkpoints spaced far apart (or not before a boss but with minions and then the boss) and the typical From camera issues does put me off these games somewhat.

Re: Reaction: E3 Is a Relic Desperately Clinging to Relevancy

pip_muzz

@nessisonett I agree. If Sony had turned up the article would be about how Sony were the saviours of E3. The trouble is for this site is because of Sony's absence the editors and writers are focusing on the typically lackluster events of Ubisoft, EA etc... Rather than being able to see the larger scope like Xbox, Nintendo, Indie showcases and the like.

Re: Reaction: E3 Is a Relic Desperately Clinging to Relevancy

pip_muzz

You guys really all need to read Aesop's Fable about the Sour Grapes...
Microsoft + Bethesda, Nintendo, Devolver Digital, Limited Run Games all had very decent showcases. The usual Ubisoft, EA ones were boring but there were a genuine ton of new game announcements that were unexpected and look to be genuinely fun. I realise perhaps from a PS centric website it could have been better for Sony fans but to suggest the E3 event this year wasn't any good is pure fanboyism. This year was a lot better than last year's for comparison.

Re: Insomniac Devs Say Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Was Made without Crunch

pip_muzz

Its worth mentioning that Insomniac Games regularly places in the top 100 places to work. That's not just video games, but work every in general. It goes to show that crunch really is simply a case of poor and lazy management within the gaming industry and entirely unnecessary. For my money, Insomniac Games is the jewel in Sony's crown, not Naughty Dog.

Re: High-Profile Xbox Series X|S Horror The Medium Rated for PS5 Release

pip_muzz

This is about as surprising as the news that Oddworld: Soulstorm is releasing on Xbox soon.
So many timed exclusives this gen that this is going to be a constant back and forth between the two companies.
Those with patience win in the end, as they'll all end up on both consoles anyway (true 1st party exclusives excluded of course)

Re: Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Will Have a Very Achievable Platinum Trophy

pip_muzz

@Hopewell Nope. I have actually turned off trophy notifications for my PS as well. I just find it amusing that getting a platinum trophy is a "big deal" for some people, when it doesn't even require one to fully complete the game. Just reinforces my original belief that people should play games however they want and ignore trophies altogether.
It's the idea that this secondary system has some idea of "gaming worth" when it's plain to see it's an utterly inconsistent system that makes me chuckle.

Re: Crash Bandicoot 4 Dev Enlisted for Call of Duty, Er, Duty

pip_muzz

Was only a matter of time before the superb Activision remakes of the last few years were shown to be a fluke rather than a change in direction.
Appalling, bad for gamers, bad for the developers and a big negative mark on the stinky AAAA market gaming is turning out to be more and more.
(On a postive note, Thank god for Sony taking what seems like a genuine risk with Returnal lately)

Re: All Resident Evil Games Ranked and Best Places to Start

pip_muzz

A fantastically well written guide. Completely agree with all of it. Should a friend ever ask me about getting into resident evil, I'll save myself the conversational trouble and just link to them to this guide.
It's not often I agree with every single placement of a game on a ranked list.

Re: Sony Backtracks PS3, PS Vita Online Store Closures

pip_muzz

They probably saw the large sales influx of people buying games while they could, saw the revenue stream and then changed their minds.
This is purely a financial decision (albeit one that benefits us gamers at least)
Means voting with your wallet really does work.

Re: Hands On: PS5's External Storage Feature Offers Speedy Solution to Launch Fears

pip_muzz

A shame the games can't be directly installed onto the hard drive and have to be moved.
Have to say both PS and Xbox seem to have gone backwards this gen with external storage options. PS4 and XB1 are miles better with being able to play games off the expanded storage.
I know it's the SSDs holding it back but it's never good to essentially "lose" features on new consoles.

Re: Reaction: Days Gone Was PS4's Black Sheep, But a Darn Good Open World Game

pip_muzz

Unlike Films, Video Games are a rare medium in which sequels very often tend to be better and improve upon the original.

I wasn't the biggest fan of Days Gone but it was certainly very fun and a game where a sequel is almost necessary in order to further the ideas and gameplay it provided.

A real shame. Hopefully it's not too late for someone within Sony to convince the big-wigs that a sequel really should get the green light.

Re: Sony Wants to Bring PlayStation's Most Popular Franchises to Smartphones

pip_muzz

I think I can officially state that Sony no longer is attempting to cater to the niche hardcore gamer crowd.
TV shows, Mobile gaming, remakes, no classic PS heritage appreciation...!
At this state I just simply can't reward Sony for the direction they're going in with extra sales.
Just a drop in the ocean and sure Jim Ryan doesn't care about one lost sale, but this is Xbox One levels of awfulness.

Re: Poll: Is PlayStation Losing Ground to Xbox?

pip_muzz

Put Mark Cerny in charge. He's a proper gamer and actively plays games in the business that he's working in. It becomes painfully obvious when games companies are run by people who don't play games.
Jim Ryan and Sony is an unfortunate example of this....

Re: Oddworld: Soulstorm Will Guide You with PS5 Game Help

pip_muzz

It's interesting how Oddworld has come back to PlayStation as it's new home. With Soulstorm being exclusive for now, and New N Tasty also launching first on the PS4.

Wasn't too long ago that it was Munch's Oddysey as an Xbox launch title and Strangers Wrath being exclusive to Xbox as well (that's the one worth playing of the two)

Can't wait till Tuesday to give this a go.

Re: Around 2,200 Digital Games on the Chopping Block When Sony Closes PS3, PS Vita, PSP Stores

pip_muzz

It's the PS1 classics I'm going to miss. Some of the physical copies of the PS1 classics go for well over £100+. Being able to pay £7ish for them has been brilliant and allowed me to play games like Ark the Lad Tomba, Klonoa etc... That I missed out for whatever reason first time around.
Just porting these games over to the PS4/5 would instantly erase all fears and irritation on the subject and allow me to continue to give Sony lots of my money!

Re: Sony Wins Many BAFTA Awards, But Hades Takes Game of the Year

pip_muzz

Seems fair. Surprised that Hades also won performer in a supporting role and narrative however...
It won't be a popular opinion here but I'm glad that the Bafta's have given Hades a larger nod. Last of Us Part 2 is a remarkable achievement, but I still don't believe that Video Games imitating Film/TV is the pinnacle of the video game medium and I'm glad Bafta agrees.
(I'm also super super happy to see Sackboy getting some double award love!!)

Re: PS4 Owners Are Worried Their Games Won't Work if a Clock Battery Fails

pip_muzz

Whilst this is a very unlikely scenario, I have to give credit to the story in order to put pressure on Sony to do something about game preservation. Social Media clickbait or not, the issue for me is that Sony aren't taking the issue of game preservation seriously, and if this silly news keeps the pressure up on them in any way then I'm all for it.

Re: PS3, PS Vita, and PSP Online Stores to Close This Summer, Says New Report

pip_muzz

Going the same way as the Wii virtual console. Would be nice if one could redownload purchased titles but I sadly don't expect to be able too. Time to back up and download all those PS3 games then...
The timing if true of a July deadline is however appalling. Seems all I do is criticise Sony lately but I can hardly support them when they pull stuff like this. Really hope a change in management occurs soon.

Re: Disco Elysium: The Final Cut Refused Australian Classification

pip_muzz

Illiberal country refuses release of a game...
Australia's history with video game censorship is appalling and this is sadly utterly unsurprising.
Some countries still cannot get it into their heads that just because something is a "video game" doesn't mean it's meant for children. This is why these countries allow films and TV with precisely the same level of adult content but exempt video games from this. Grow up Australian politicians! (Not the country, sure plenty of Aussies are well and truly fed up of all this censorship)

Re: Sony Buys Fighting Game Tournament Evo, Evo Online Confirmed for August

pip_muzz

Glad to read that Smash isn't going to be affected by the purchase. A logical move by Sony as aside from Smash Bros every game in Evo is essentially a PlayStation game so makes for a nice fit.
Through people's PSN's they can organise greater involvement in the tournaments too. Sounds very good. Seems I need to brush up on my Granblue Fantasy Versus.

Re: Soapbox: Why Do You Replay Games?

pip_muzz

I always have an old game on the go. I play an old game whilst playing new releases. This helps to add some variety to my gaming time. I also replay older games on higher difficulties, go for 100% completion or other ways in which the game has yet more to offer.
I personally don't understand why people play a game once for £40 and then don't touch it again.
