@Platinum-Bucket @somnambulance @nomither6 many many thanks for all your replies. It sounds like it's definitely worth a go once this comes out in October. I'll be sure to give it a decent try. Sounds like I'd need to message you all again when it's out to get a decent team together though 🙂
I've never played Overwatch at all, but with the sequel coming soon it seems like a good point to jump in. Especially with this reset. Can anyone confirm/advise if Overwatch is worth getting into? (For notes, I am less keen on the twitch heavy shooters like Call of Duty)
The craziest thing is, with the MS buyout of Activision, there is now a tiny ray of hope of the 3-4 Remasters happening compared to before when it was clearly hopeless. Any hope at all is good in this case, I detest how Activision just gobbled up developers for the Call of Duty factory.
Considering the upgrade from PS4-PS5 is free, that shows that 95% of gaming purchasers are absolutely clueless. No wonder Sony keep doing what they do price wise....
Spiderman 2 is the question mark for me... If it wasn't Insomniac Games I'd be sure it'd slip to 2024 but Insomniac are just so damn good I do hope that releases next year after all.
This game has looked like it could be something special since it was announced. Been waiting a while for it, what's a few months more to wait if the game is better at the end of it
@get2sammyb I remember similar comments about the amount of work for the Insomniac PS4 upgrade path, but that cost £10 (which was already pushing it) It's not about the amount of work the art team has done, it's the precedent set by essentially charging the exact same amount as Horizon: Forbidden West for which is essentially just a texture update and graphical smooth over. Either this game is overpriced or Horizon:Forbidden West should be retailing for £120+
From charging £10 for the PS4-PS5 upgrade for Spider-Man and other games, to now charging £70 standalone price for what is essentially just some new textures and a reworking of the game engine! Genuinely unbelievable.... £50 for the remake with the LoU2 factions thrown in would have been more swallowable but this is vastly overpriced!
I'm officially de-boarding the Sony train. Charging £70 for a remake of a game that doesn't need it is really taking the mick. Ahead of the rumours I was thinking they'd package in the LoU2 factions multiplayer alongside the LoU1 remake and maybe charge £50ish for it. To charge £70 for that remake is genuinely beyond a joke. Game doesn't need it, price is too high and their behaviour is setting a trend of bad developer exploitation that is worthy of the EA Ultimate Team slur. Wake me up when PlayStation comes back as I remember it.
Sonic Frontiers to debut gameplay alongside a Remastered version of Sonic 06 to shadow drop after the State of Play. My mate Dave works for Eggman industries.
Good to know not to expect any 1st party big game news/reveals this time around. Maybe they're showing the PSVR stuff now ahead of the bulk of the summer showcases for a "bigger" showcase sometime later.... I can hope
Interesting to note there were two different designs for the Regina character for Dino Crisis. One for the West and one for Japan. The image used is the Western model, as the Japanese Regina from the art has a more circular face. Perhaps the use of the Western design is a hint in itself that it's going to make it over here.
It's certainly not a deal breaker, but this does come across as Sony just being lazy here when it comes to the European region and just copying over their PS1 classics back from the PS3 days.
On a side note, if we've bought PS1 games on the PS3, do we get these for free without having to purchase them individually again?
I'll never miss the kicking off of E3 with the regularly dire EA presentations. Amalgamating the publishers into fewer showcases is win win. The games will reach a larger audience as people (myself included) are more inclined to watch the "big" showcases and catch up with the small ones afterwards on sites like this.
A sequel is bound to be tied up on Sony hardware. What Xbox player would jump in on the 2nd game without playing the first? I enjoyed the 1st one for what it's worth but definitely felt the 10/10 score it got here was far too generous. A decent game where a sequel could really help realise some gameplay potential without tedium.
Considering I've turned off notifications for my PS trophies I really couldn't care less. Doesn't bother me if they include them for people who care, but to not play a game because of a lack of trophy support sounds alien to me.
I'm of the opinion that a lot of the modern Sonic games get an overly hard time by review outlets. They're not modern classics for sure, but even Sonic Forces is a solid 7/10 game with very exciting platforming and a real sense of speed. My point is, I hope they don't chase the "high metacritic" nonsense and end up delivering something that isn't fun...
Even better, the games that pre-dated the current escape room phenomenon, the Zero Escape Series. 3 fantastic games with superb stories and multiple escape rooms in each game. Wrapped up in the other current trend the "death game" scenario for good measure. Seek them out.
The Silent Hill rumours have been running for so long, wouldn't be surprised if a new game does come out it would only have started development a year or two after the rumours began 🤣 It's what... 3+ years already?
For those saying Uncharted and Tomb Raider are too similar... imagine a crossover game where Nathan Drake turns up as another explorer whilst you're raiding as Lara!!
Reading up on what's being bought. This looks essentially like the old "Eidos" part of SE is being sold. Something that hadn't been a part of SE till the mid 00's I believe...
@Uncharted2007 I also backed Shenmue 3 and really enjoyed it. I don't want a reinvigorated Shenmue 4, I want another time-bubble game like the third installment. A few tweaks for the fourth one and it should/could be really good.
Horizon £70, Elden Ring £50. It's clear for me the reason why one game's sales tail off compared to the other one's... But I think that's part of Sony's strategy moving forwards. Get the hardcore fans to pay full price and then sell it to the masses with a sale 6months plus down the line.
@nessisonett Here he comes, tougher than the rest of em, the best of em, tougher than leather. You can call him Knuckles, unlike Sonic he don't chuckle, he'd rather flex his muscles.
Thank you for pointing out that is IS cheaper than Game Pass Ultimate. The monthly comparison is very deceiving, but on a yearly basis it is definitely the cheaper option. (As in, you don't get Day 1 launches, but you're not paying as much....) I do still wish they'd offer a discount on first party titles for the premium users however... That is a little stingy.
@get2sammyb For Sony's tentpole releases I understand why they'd rather not put them on a subscription service. Sony have however 8+ live service games in development. Launching games like that onto a subscription service can be beneficial for everyone as a whole. I think the instant dismissal of no exclusives on a subscription service may sadly make their live service games the worse for wear.
He's right. If Gran Turismo 7 had launched onto a subscription service it would be filled with Microtransactions and forced online for single player. Thankfully I can pay £70 to avoid all of that.
I would have at the very least liked to have seen a discount on the £70 asking price for new games if you're subscribed to the highest tier. If you're paying the large fee for the premium plus service, I don't see why Sony can't at least offer some sort of discount for subscribers...
Slay the Spire is more than just a "card game". It is absolutely fantastic and I recommend you all give it a go. I get the dislike towards a Multiplayer only game and a SpongeBob game, but Slay the Spire is very very enjoyable 👍
I mean I fully expected the next Dirt Rally game to essentially just be called WRC 23. Codemasters have the WRC licence and I think irrespective of the EA acquisition they'd have rebranded their Dirt Rally series into the officially licenced one.
The only reason Dirt Rally 1+2 had their Rally sub-moniker was because Codemasters didn't have the WRC licence in the first place.
This really isn't a big deal.
I wouldn't call it review bombing, simply just reviewing. Review bombing is done by petty fans on exclusive games and for a multitude of daft reasons. The game being offline 24+hours for single player and the adjustment of the mtx's is definitely a good enough reason for the game to get it's fair share of negativity.
@get2sammyb I sadly thing you're right. Kind of like the FIFA ultimate team Situation, the gaming press calls it out for its toxicity but the gaming public still pump insane amounts of £££'s into it. I just wish the masses were large enough to stop Sony going down this very route. I dread to think what the Last of Us Faction multiplayer game will end up like...
