Re: PS5's New PSVR Headset Officially Named PlayStation VR2, Full Specs Revealed

@thefourfoldroot foveated rendering is confirmed. If you actually watch the clip of Jim Ryan revealing it (which the authors of this website apparently opted not to do?), there a slide that specifies it is featured, and Jim says it. Out loud. Wouldn't count on back compat though, these are really just... incredibly different pieces of hardware on most levels

Re: Twisted Metal Creator Hurt by Sony Snub Over Rumoured New Game

This dude is so cringe. Thanks for making Twisted Metal, thanks for making God of War. Big fan of those franchises, but you moved on, they moved on, and certainly God of War is better without his influence. We'll see about Twisted Metal. But he certainly isn't owed anything. He got his check, he got his notoriety. Leave them alone, and stop pretending to know things when you've been out of the industry since Drawn to Death flopped several years ago. Dude just needs to shut up.

Re: Sony Investing in External Japanese Development Group

Look, I love Japan Studio as much as the rest of you, and was obviously upset by its closure, but people like us, who frequent these websites, live in a bubble. Those games didn't sell. Gravity Rush, Everybody's Golf, even The Last Guardian after that wait - they didn't sell. And, surprise! Sony is a corporation, who would prefer to make money on the products they invest in.

Re: Talking Point: Was EA Play 2021 Any Better Than Usual?

sajoey

I think they went about it in a better way this year. They got most of the sports stuff out of the way with those other shows over the last couple weeks, there weren't any corporate talking heads like Andrew Wilson, and the new stuff they did have to show, like Dead Space and Battlefield Portal look fantastic

Re: Talking Point: Was Sony's Latest State of Play Livestream Any Good?

sajoey

The reaction to this State of Play has been very funny, because I remember like a week ago when people were saying Playstation stopped supporting small developers. Now they've dedicated nearly an entire half hour show to smaller developers, and everyone seems to hate it? Makes no sense. If they hadn't set expectations before this, I'd get it. But they did, very specifically, and I feel like they surpassed what they promised. It's not the big show, but it doesn't need to be. That will come. Just seems like people want to be mad.

Re: Soapbox: Why I'm Not Expecting a PS5, PS4 Press Conference from PlayStation Next Month

I mean, Sony doesn't NEED E3, nor do they NEED Summer Games Show, or whatever else. That being said, there's no harm in capitalizing off of it. They know Microsoft is about to have a pretty big year. We all do. I think the Horizon thing isn't necessarily to dissuade the desire for a Future of Gaming show, so much as it is clearing out space for it. They did literally exactly this last year with Ghost of Tsushima. I think they're about to have a really crazy show, if I'm being honest.

Re: Insomniac Games Renews Trademark for Xbox Exclusive Sunset Overdrive

@Dezzy70 there have been rumors of a project like that in Guerilla after they hired a bunch of Siege devs, and I know they're supporting what sounds like a shooter project from that new studio made up of Bungie devs. But I know what you mean. That genre is (justifiably, I think) on the back burner for Sony right now.
