I think the game has a really solid base foundation, it just lacks depth and has weird progression systems. Hopefully this helps, though I don't think it'll bring many people back in.
Look, I still remember the 2020 cycle where we were just looking for scraps on PS5 info, and we got one of these rumors every other week. Am I excited for the potential? Yes. But I'm not gonna hold my breath
@thefourfoldroot foveated rendering is confirmed. If you actually watch the clip of Jim Ryan revealing it (which the authors of this website apparently opted not to do?), there a slide that specifies it is featured, and Jim says it. Out loud. Wouldn't count on back compat though, these are really just... incredibly different pieces of hardware on most levels
I'm anticipating 400-500 in terms of cost. By the way, foveated rendering IS confirmed. It had a slide mentioning it in the CES show where they announced all this (so not a random announcement either)
This dude is so cringe. Thanks for making Twisted Metal, thanks for making God of War. Big fan of those franchises, but you moved on, they moved on, and certainly God of War is better without his influence. We'll see about Twisted Metal. But he certainly isn't owed anything. He got his check, he got his notoriety. Leave them alone, and stop pretending to know things when you've been out of the industry since Drawn to Death flopped several years ago. Dude just needs to shut up.
My dream announcements are, and have been for many years, Playstation All-Stars 2, and a Bluepoint remake of God of War 1 and 2. Would be ecstatic about either of these, though I understand neither are realistic.
Look, I love Japan Studio as much as the rest of you, and was obviously upset by its closure, but people like us, who frequent these websites, live in a bubble. Those games didn't sell. Gravity Rush, Everybody's Golf, even The Last Guardian after that wait - they didn't sell. And, surprise! Sony is a corporation, who would prefer to make money on the products they invest in.
@Repo_Dog I'm so glad that the multi-billion dollar company that abuses their employees has someone like you to defend them. I heard they were crying into their money before you came along.
I think they went about it in a better way this year. They got most of the sports stuff out of the way with those other shows over the last couple weeks, there weren't any corporate talking heads like Andrew Wilson, and the new stuff they did have to show, like Dead Space and Battlefield Portal look fantastic
The reaction to this State of Play has been very funny, because I remember like a week ago when people were saying Playstation stopped supporting small developers. Now they've dedicated nearly an entire half hour show to smaller developers, and everyone seems to hate it? Makes no sense. If they hadn't set expectations before this, I'd get it. But they did, very specifically, and I feel like they surpassed what they promised. It's not the big show, but it doesn't need to be. That will come. Just seems like people want to be mad.
Given the expectations set on this, I'm expecting to see updates on things like Little Devil Inside more than I am things like FFXVI. People will still lose their ability to read, set ridiculously high expectations, and get mad when GTA VI isn't announced, but... that's what I'm expecting.
I honestly can't wait for this. OlliOlli 2 made me rub the rubber off of my Dualshock 4 stick from playing it hours at a time. Just absolutely nails game feel.
Wow! That's my tweet! For the record, I discovered it like two days prior to all of this, and I am not involved in any advertising for Ratchet and Clank or Sunset Overdrive 😅
Reminder that this game is being developed in India, which is one of the places hit the hardest by Covid. Glad they delayed it to fix everything, but it will take a while, because they are still kinda going through hell with all that right now.
I mean, Sony doesn't NEED E3, nor do they NEED Summer Games Show, or whatever else. That being said, there's no harm in capitalizing off of it. They know Microsoft is about to have a pretty big year. We all do. I think the Horizon thing isn't necessarily to dissuade the desire for a Future of Gaming show, so much as it is clearing out space for it. They did literally exactly this last year with Ghost of Tsushima. I think they're about to have a really crazy show, if I'm being honest.
@Dezzy70 there have been rumors of a project like that in Guerilla after they hired a bunch of Siege devs, and I know they're supporting what sounds like a shooter project from that new studio made up of Bungie devs. But I know what you mean. That genre is (justifiably, I think) on the back burner for Sony right now.
I hope not. I really don't like NRS' recent titles. I feel like their animations, art style, and general game flow are just way too rigid for Marvel characters.
Reminder that this is happening in the first year of the console. Truly cannot wait to see what we get as the generation proceeds. We're going to see some CRAZY stuff, man.
Can't believe this is first year tech. When you compare things like Killzone Shadow Fall at the beginning to Ghost of Tsushima at the end for the PS4, I really can't wait to see how things evolve through this generation

Re: Persona Dev Atlus Plans to Release Major Game in 2022
Certainly not Persona, though a one year hype cycle for Persona 6 would be absolutely WILD after 5's.
Anyway my bet is on a Snowboard Kids revival.

I'm really just pulling for a remaster collection. Love those games, and I think they would take great use of the Dualsense.
