Re: Poll: Is The Last of Us: Part 1 Really a 'Cash Grab'?

I think it's going to be worth it. If someone gets a PS5 as their first Playstation console, having Part 1 and Part 2 available as a more congruent, cohesive package is a good thing. Obviously the story of TLOU is excellent, but the gameplay feels dated, and the models look rough by modern standards. Makes the jump from 1 to 2 very jarring. This will make that a smooth transition for newcomers to the franchise. Plus it'll let people play it on PC, cause no one on Steam was gonna buy it if it still looked like a PS3 game.

I think it's funny, but I'm sure it will end up being extra annoying down the line, that all of these Playstation shows are on different services. We've got TLOU on HBO Max, Twisted Metal on Peacock, now GOW on Prime. Can't wait for Ape Escape on Hulu and Gravity Rush on Paramount+ 😂😂😂

This game is genuinely excellent, but I did fall off a bit as the months went on. Still very excited for this change, as I'm always tempted to start playing again. Hopefully it can garner a proper player base, though I imagine that'll be made more difficult by not having EA to assist with marketing.

Re: Poll: What Are Your Thoughts on Sony's Buyout of Bungie?

I think it'll ultimately be an exciting move for Bungie and Sony. For Bungie, it provides the necessary resources to keep hiring and have stable ground while they continue to work on D2 and their next IP. For Sony, it's very obvious in looking at their financial reports that live service games like Fortnite account for massive portions of revenue made through the PS Store. But they don't really have any of their own. Bungie makes sense for them, then, because it's much easier to just buy a studio that has been around and knows what they're doing, than to try and make/hire for a whole new studio from scratch to make these things.
And for those worried that live service will replace the SP experiences we all care so deeply about, I don't think those are going away. As many have speculated already, these titles will be additive, made to help fund those big bread and butter Uncharted's and Horizon's. I think it's very exciting, but I think it won't publicly bare fruit in a notable way for a few more years.
