@fluggy That's exactly how I felt about the first one and why I'm somewhat weary about trying this one. My mates been playing it and he raves about it, but, then again he's a massive fan of pretty much all of Rockstars games.
I loved Parasite Eve, but, never finished it. I remember getting as far as fighting a giant crab.
I seem to remember 'back in the day' you could download patches/cheats for games, rip the contents of the CD to your pc, apply a patch/cheat, re-burn it and you've have various things like unlimited health for example. I seem to remember having to go to some dodgy Russian sites to get the files
I'm one of the lepper-esque 7%. I had RDR on my Ps3 and I just didn't like it. Whether it was because I don't like Westerns or the fact that I felt like I was just riding a bloody horse for hours and hours, for what ever reason I just stopped playing it. Saying that I've never been a fan of any of the GTA games either.
And with that, I'll get me pipe and slippers, have a good old game of Shove-Piggy-Shove, eat some cheese and biscuits and watch some re-runs of Time Team
Not sure what people really expected. It's DMC and for me that means ott fights, massive swords and god awful sounding metal. I can't think of any other type of music that would fit with this franchise.
Raised By Owls should have been approached to do ALL the music for DMC5
Rapture is one of the greatest games I’ve ever played. Once you get past the ‘walking simulator’ feel it’s genuinly disturbing. Listening to an old telephone conversation of a woman taking to her husband and saying ‘oh darling, a load of jets have just flown over’ with those very same jets being the ones that are used to ‘quarantine’ the village gave me the same feeling as I got when I watched the film Threads. No jump scares, no monsters, no gore just disturbing phsycological horror at its finest!
I spent god knows how many hours playing ESO and loved every minute. I got up to Level 50 and then started the Veteran quests. Even though its a MMO I simply played it like a standard RPG. Unlike FFXIV you're not forced to team up with people to continue the story. There is loads to do with other players if you like and guild quests and all that jazz, but, I can't be arsed with that.
I remember playing FFXIV and had to do a team quest to continue with the story and one person in the team actually sat his character on the floor and refused to continue. He/she would only continue if I changed my character to a TANK rater than some wizardy thing!!! Suffice to say I left that group and joined another and cracked on, with what was otherwise, an excellent game.
And there's me thinking this was an article about a Rehab for people who just can't let go of their beloved Sinclair Spectrum and still obsess about it today. People like me.
@get2sammyb ha ha loved Music on the ps1. I remember spending hours building a track on that and then playing it to my then girlfriend. She said it sounded a bit like fecal matter being stuffed into a bagpipe!! Suffice to say we didn’t last long.
I work from home most of the time so when the weathers like it is at the moment the last thing I want to do is be cooped up in the house. Sat in the garden, laptop on the table, glass of something with ice in and me is a happy chappy.
I'd love there to be a Somerset expansion where you just necked super strong scrumpy cider all day and tried to cop off with some comely wench. But, in the background there lurks a darker story, a story where the London elite are gradually buying up all the empty property to rent out as holiday homes!!!!! Only you can stop them by contaminating the sparkling water supply with chav-venom which will turn all the Londoners into Burberry wearing oiks and they'll eventually become allergic to soya milk and artisan breads!!!!!
Back in the day there were quite a few Games Creators for the 8Bit computers. Utilities such as GAC (Graphic Adventure Creator), PAW (professional adventure writer) and The Quill allowed you to make fully functioning text adventures which, in turn, were allowed to be sold as retail games as long as the utility used was referenced. It'd be great if MM would pick some of the games that are to be created with Dreams and allow them to sold as retail games. If users of Dreams knew there was a possibility to make some money from their hours of painstaking games design then it'd be a great incentive for people to really start creating something special.
I for one am really looking forward to Dreams. I thought LittleBigPlanet was great, but, this just looks like a huge leap forward.
Really couldn’t be arsed. Don’t play anything like Fortnite -christ I don’t even get what all the fuss is about with that game- and as I only play PS4 then it makes no odds to me.
Looking forward to this one. I'm a huge fan of the Cthulhu Mythos and have always wanted a game that really recreates the absolute insanity of HP Lovecraft fiction. Fingers crossed it not a huge pile of bobbins.
Nah, not for me. I played RDR 1 for a bit when it was released, but, it just didn't grab me and I can't see me getting that interested in this one either.
As they say, the world would be a pretty boring place if we all liked the same things.
This is amazing. When you see what some people have done with Games Designer Utilities on other platforms, the stuff that's going to be released with Dreams could be feckin' astounding.
@GravyThief Same for me. Being 6 years old at the start of the 80's, Rapture was like looking at video footage of where I lived. BMX's lying on the grass next to jumps made from a plank of wood on 2 bricks, old dial phones, red phone boxes, transit vans, cortinas, fiestas (alas not the adult art magazines ) and the sound of birds and insects in the scorching sun. It was always hot and sunny in the summer in the 80's, fact!!
The story was just amazing and there were two stand out moments for me. The one about the coupe who lived in the windmill and the call with the woman as the jets fly over!! Just stunning.
Some people are just going to complain at whatever PS do. For me, it's a few quid a month that not only gives me a couple of free games a month, but, potentially hundreds of pounds of discounts on loads of games on the PS Store.
To be honest, the backlog of games that I've got I've not even downloaded the PS+ games from Jan or Feb
I've been playing this for about 6-7 hours and I've only had it crash twice. There have been a couple of graphical glitches, but, nothing game breaking. The loading times are nowhere near as bad as they are made out to be, probably about 30-40s when you load a game.
Any game where you have to follow some witches into the woods, have them smear magical ointment on you and then dance around a fire is fine by me. The fact that i started hallucinating and ended up getting over friendly with a horse, is by the bye!!!!
Too play the game for 10 minutes and demand a refund like some petulant child is simply pathetic. The graphics are not the best on Ps4, but, they are not Ps3 standard and considering that there are so many different ways to finish quests I'm surprised the graphics aren't wire-frame. Walk around wearing some monks clothes you've knicked and everybody treats you completely differently and asks you about your vows!!! Stop washing and people don't want to speak to you, eat too much you get sluggish, eat dodgy food you get food poisoning and with so many skills to learn I can see me spending even more time on this than I did with ESO or Skyrim!! This game is very impressive and I've not missed a single dragon or elf
How come there is no Elder Scrolls OnLine? This is the RPG that I have ploughed god knows how many our into even after I'd finished the main story. After that it would be The Witcher and then FF Realm Reborn for me.
I do really like DriveClub, but, there's just something that I found annoying about the width of the tracks, they just seem too narrow.
I must admit that now GT Sport has the good old career mode back, it's like playing a good old GT game. I've even ventured into the on-line racing side of things. This is something I'm always loath to do based on previous online racing experiences. The words tw@ and bell-end spring to mind when describing other players!!! But I must admit that the way GT Sport builds races based on similar racers seems to work pretty well.
Finished this this morning. It's one of the few games that I just had to keep playing until I finished it. It's an amazing game and portrays the horror of mental illness in a very unique and powerful way. We all get voices in our head from time-to-time, but, they're more often than not limited to 'Need to get some mushrooms from CoOp' or 'God this conference call is boring'. To even think of an inner voice telling me I'm useless, or scared, or going to fail constantly must be simply horrendous.
This game also looks amazing and you forget, very quickly, that there is no on-screen clutter like a HUD, or a powerbar. There are no loading screens and the whole game just streams from start to end with no interruption. Obviously it's not going to be for everyone, but, if you like story led games, with powerful fighting, intriguing puzzles and a feeling that you're playing something very clever and unique, then get Hellblade.
I liked Knack. It did what is said on the tin, it was a pretty simple platformerer/brawler. Not bad, but, not great.
I played the Knack 2 demo yesterday and it's pretty much seems much of the same. I was hoping that the demo would showcase more of the platformy elements, but, it's just the usual 'clear wave of enemies, move to next section wash, rinse, repeat'. Any why they've decide that you still can't move the camera is beyond me!!!
Oh good lord who gives a flying tit?!?! Having to zoom in and in and in to see a difference does not a good game make. Spectrum vs Commadore, st vs amiga, Nintendo vs sega etc etc, we've seen this of kind of rivalry for the past 40 years. Who cares? If a games good, then it's good regardless how 'sharp' the graphics are. Bored of these type of comparisons.
I really enjoyed Yoner, but, it was just too short. I loved the relaxed gameplay and the 'fluffy' visuals. This looks pretty similar, but, with combat and hopefully a bit more depth.
You could spend hours and hours trying to polish a turd, but, at the end of the day, it's still a turd. If a games rubbish, no matter how good it looks, it's still rubbish. Would I have found HZD far less enjoyable as a game if the graphics weren't as good? No. Would Life of Black Tiger have GoTY stamped all over it if it has amazing graphics? No.
I've been looking at the rave reviews, but, still have no idea what the game is actually about. Is it an RPG in such a way that you build up your ability tree, have various weapons and quests? Or is it a bit more linear with regards to the story? Is it similar to Catherine, because that got rave reviews and I thought it was painfully boring. Questions, questions, questions 😀
@JoeBlogs yep. Mine is on all the time to be honest. Which probably explains why it's as hot as the centre of the sun and the fan is spinning faster than a fast thing.
Couple of my mates have already got their filthy mits on a switch, but, i'm really not that fussed. Yes, Zelda looks like a great game, but, it's not as if there aren't a plethora of amazing games on the PS4.
With regards to the remote play function then I can do that with my Vita. On Tuesday I was sat on the train down to London happily playing Titanfall 2 on the free WiFi.
I suppose sacrifices have to made when creating a huge open world. Do you have great combat? Do you go for better than normal AI, Do you go for amazing lighting effects and draw distance? Do you go for amazing facial expressions or do you go for amazing story? I'm a massive fan of ESO and the facial expressions in that are OK(ish) but when you have a great story then I'm happy to look past them.
For me, this game just looks a bit boring at the moment to be honest. I suppose we'll get more and more info about the story, different locations, the world's different environments and various beasts as the previews start coming together. At the moment I;m not really sold.
@get2sammyb Do you spend most of the time in the house? Reason I ask is that was why I didn't play Dead Space 2 as I found the claustrophobic feel of Dead Space 1 a bit too much.
Saying that I loved, loved, loved Resi 2, 3 and 4 so it'd be rude not to get this if it feels like 'a Resi game at heart.'
@Bliquid I'm with you there. I played the demo of Outlast 2 a couple of weeks ago and thought 'You know what, I'm not really enjoying this. It's too bloody stressful'
At least they've spent time sourcing decent regional accents!!!! I was completely unaware that Vikings actually spoke with a broad American accent. Well I never
I think it's a fantastic game. Is its a PS3 game? Is it b*llox!!! Is it the best looking game on the PS4? probably not, but, there are some absolutely stunning views within the game and the animation of Trico is something that has to be seen to be believed. Is it an insanely infuriating game at time? Good god, yes. You can sit there for ages trying to command Trico on what to do and he/she just sits there purring at you!!! Then, when you've sussed it out you're presented with yet another amazing set piece and a feeling of 'Aaah, that's why I love this game'.
Dont sit watching pointless FPS youtube videos and people with far too much time on their hands waffling on about detailed analysis of graphics. If you loved Ico and SOTC then do yourself a favour and buy this games.
