Anyone on this site that complains about PS games pricing needs to go buy a Nintendo Switch to play Nintendo's exclusive. PS's game prices will look mighty fine by comparison.
Spiritfarer is a masterpiece. I'm not even that far into the game and I've already cried several times and grown to love every character I've met so far. I have to be careful of when I play this game because I lose all sense of time while I'm playing it.
And yes, I know this came out last year, but I didn't get around to playing until this year, so it's a 2021 game for me.
Even though it doesn't deserve game of the year, Deathloop is probably going to win. I mean, come on. Does Deathloop actually hold a candle to games that are actual games of the year, like Breath of the Wild, The Last of Us: Part 2, God of War, and The Witcher 3?
@dimi I could not agree more. Ring Fit Adventure is a masterpiece. I've been playing it about 4 to 6 times a week for 20 to 40 minutes a day for the past 2 or 3 months. It's incredible. I feel so much better, people tell me I'm in a better mood than I was, and I think I've actually lost some weight. I've been trying to find an exercise routine that works for me for years and then I finally found Ring Fit. 10/10 would recommend.
I, miraculously, was able to get a PS5 earlier this Summer. I love it. Spider-Man Remastered was a masterpiece. Rift Apart blew my mind. I'm really excited for where this console is headed.
However, my biggest grievance with the PS5 is not the hardware or Sony; it's with developers and publishers not making their games run at their best on the new hardware even though the PS5 could absolutely run the games at full power with ease. Hollow Knight? Locked at 1080p. Gravity Rush 2? Locked at 30 fps. Okami HD? Locked at 30 fps. Tomb Raider? Locked 1080p. Rise of the Tomb Raider? Locked 30 fps. You get the point.
I have a PC with a Radeon RX 580. It's a decent card, not great, but what I don't understand is that all of these games that I just listed run better on my RX 580 than they do on the PS5, and the PS5 should be blowing my GPU out the effing water. It's really frustrating, honestly. It's my one gripe with the console and it's not even with the console per se.
@huyi I don't think you could be missing out more if I'm being totally honest. I haven't missed a single free game since Epic began giving games away. I have claimed, and I'm not making this up, over 230 free video games from Epic Games. Most of it isn't even shovelware.
Some of these games include: A Short Hike, Abzu, Celeste, Create in the Well, Thimbleweed Park, Hyper Light Drifter, Into the Breach, Mutazione, Night in the Woods, Rime, Sonic Mania, SuperHot, The Messenger, The Wolf Among Us, This War of Mine, World of Goo, Yoku's Island Express, Yooka Laylee and the Impossible Lair, A Plague's Tale Innocence, Alan Wake, the entire Batman Trilogy, every Borderlands game except 3, Oxenfree, Rayman Legends, World War Z, Control, Alien: Isolation, and GTA 5.
In all honesty, I have never touched a CoD game before. I'm sure they're fun for people to play, but I guess I don't understand. I don't see the appeal of waiting in lobbies, shooting nameless characters with your somewhat nameless character, and doing the same thing over and over. I mean, it's one of the most successful video game franchises out there, but I have no desire to play any of these games. I would much rather play something story-driven and makes you really feel something. I'm sure there are a couple of CoD games that do that, but I still think it's a pass for me.
@Milktastrophe Amen to that! I wish more games would took notes from games like the first Splatoon. I'm not even a Splatoon fan, but I really appreciate multiplayer games with a fully developed story-driven single-player experience. If Knock Out City had a single-player experience available then I would for sure hop into it.
I played it back when they did that free beta thing awhile back. I had a good time, but it reminded me why I just don't enjoy online multiplayer games. I hate sitting in lobbies, there's no story, and (being a noob) I always feel like the weakest person on the team. I could try playing it until I "get good" or I could have a better time to myself playing a single-player story-driven game.
Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa. That's a low blow from Square. Crystal's Tomb Raider games have won many awards over the years; they are far from incompetent developers. They're not the problem. So if Crystal wasn't the problem then I wonder what was the problem. Hmmm....
@BoldAndBrash @lolwhatno @OMGitsLiamT @@nessisonett Hey guys, fighting negativity with negativity isn't going to make the Pushsquare community any better; it's just going to make things worse. There's no reason that any of us should be insulting anyone in these chats, including developers and each other. @get2sammyb Do you know if this free upgrade is available for the standard version of Half-Genie Hero or is the upgrade only available for the Ultimate Edition of Half-Genie Hero?
@RobN Oh man, really, though. I remember when I got my PS4 and I was coming from the Wii. I've played video games for most of my life, but I was at a complete loss when the game I was playing told me to use R3 and L3. It blew my mind when I figured it out, but it still took me forever. No joke, I even tried to hit R1 and R2 at the same time because, in my mind, that added to R3. Hahaha!!
@Nepp67 No one in my family (except for me) plays video games because duel analog sticks are too complicated for newcomers. This articles really isn't overexaggerating.
@Jaz007 I wonder if it would be helpful if games would scale their tutorials according to the difficulty level chosen at the beginning of the game. I've never thought of that until just now. That would make for pretty interesting game design.
@JJ2 Most of my family has never played a video game on a modern controller and duel analog sticks are completely beyond all of them. No one in my family except for me plays video games because they're so intimidating. This articles isn't exaggerated; it's a fantastic examination of bad UX in video game design.
I work as a graphic designer and much of my days are filled with UI/UX, and, yes, I really do think that games should tell people how to move. I'll add one to that. Games should explain how to control the camera too. It sounds annoying, but nothing is more annoying than bad UX and having to quit a game because you don't know how to move. I'm the only person in my house that plays games. I tried playing Overcooked with my family and my dad was so frustrated because he had no idea how to move the character. My older sister and I used to play N64 games together growing up, so she understands how to move, but she has absolutely no idea how to control the camera with the right stick. No one in my house wants to ever play games with me because this fundamental design teaching is usually ignored and they're so intimidated by games that they never want to pick up a modern controller.
I've been making my way through my backlog this week and having a blast. I finished Guacamelee 2, and Inside this week. I'm about to finished a little indie game called Dogurai and then I think I'm going to either play RE 2 Remake or Bloodstained.
Okay, has this been one of the most average and lackluster years in gaming in years (possibly decades)? I know there have been a couple of really good games that have come out, but I don't think I've seen anything get above an 8 this year from almost every gaming news outlet I follow. I was kind of hoping the pandemic was just going to affect the quantity of games releasing, but sadly it also seems to have hit the quality too.
I am quite surprised that this review is currently the lowest Critic review on Metacritc. Honestly, I appreciate your honesty, PushSquare. I can't wait to pick this up in the not-to-distant future.
This this was coming out sooner then I would be worried. This game feels a little slow and chunky. But, since this is coming out in two years from now then that is fantastic.
Okay, I am genuinely shocked at the level of quality that this game looks to have. I really didn't think much of it, but the more we keep seeing the more it impresses me.
@StonyKL Amen, dude. This article makes me depressed. Game aren't made by machines; there are real people behind these products sacrificing their blood, sweat, and tears to make them during a time when the world is a mess and I'm surprised games are getting made at all. I'm greatful that company's like Sony are really trying during these difficult times, but people are too spoiled to see that, I guess.
I love Pushsquare, but this article kind of sounds like a spoiled brat wrote it. You do realize that like, oh, I don't know, we're in the middle of one of the worst pandemics in recorded history, right? It's a miracle any production studio can get anything out the door. All things considered, that was a spectacular showcase.
When the claws shot out of Logan's fists, I literally slapped the table in front of me and yelped in excitement, nearly giving my mother a heartache. Hahaha!! Personally, I thought Sony did a fantastic job today. Having a showing that strong with how the state of the world is right now wasn't an easy task, but I think they did great.
Oh my word! No. No no no. This is absolutely absurd. This is about the same file size as Red Dead Redemption 2. You mean to tell me that that entire effing world, all of its characters and possible story outcomes, and every world mechanics are the same size as playing a game of basketball? This has got to be some of the worst optimizations I've seen. This game should BARELY break 20GB. Get that crap out of here.
Almost everyone seems to come to these comment sections and sh** on everything PlayStation on a PlayStation news outlet (which just baffles me). I completely agree. The console isn't even a year old and it came out during one of the worst pandemics in recorded history. So thank you.
This is definitely an overreaction. I get concerned when my PC is under a decent work load the air coming out of the back isn't hot. This isn't Sony's version of the red ring of death. My PS4 Slim was able to play TLoU 2 and Ghost of Tsushima and it got blazing hot. Even then, it never skipped a frame during either game. Sony is great with thermals. It's going to be fine.
