Excellent! I am about half-way through the campaign so I will be able to use this mode a lot and I plan to replay the game at some point too. Buried in that blog post is the best news though. Universal text size increase! Hopefully, it actually modifies the text enough now across the menus and subtitles.
The only thing that could have made that better would have been to announce a remaster of Red Dead Redemption. I am still hopeful that we will get one this summer. It would be the perfect time to drop it for people to catch up.
They need to start an exterminator business with all the bugs that they're eliminating. Though I have only encountered one minor glitch when a wooden box top became attached to Kratos' neck after he smashed it with his axe. But it fell off shortly after.
That was fascinating and enlightening. Amazing little details that combined to have the full effect such as the "wiggle" time for the axe to dislodge itself from the enemy/object, placement of his arm, and arc of the axe. That attention to detail can become invisible to the player, but the overall experience benefits so greatly from it. This game is an astoundingly beautiful blend of art and science. Sony Santa Monica deserves all of the praise that they are getting.
Excellent, I will definitely get the demo as it is one of my most anticipated games of the year. I think it is a good sign that they are confident enough to put out a demo.
@gh0st--d0wn Yup, very minor change. I was hoping for me so I could go back to sitting on the couch rather than a chair set three feet from the TV. I have been using the PS4 zoom feature in the meantime for the Codex tab.
I had the digital preorder loaded so I got to play for about three hours before going to bed. The relationship between Kratos and Atreus is pitch perfect. It felt like a real father-son dynamic. The dialogue has a great flow between them. You feel the weight of the responsibility that Kratos bears as a father and the uncertainty that Atreus feels in his recently changed life.
I adjusted to the combat easier than I thought I would. Where the series had previously been all mashing and combos for me, this game is more methodical and rhythmic. But the feeling is still intense and the effects are visceral. I really like the feel. The throwing and catching of the axe is so satisfying to experience. The first two bosses were impressive and challenging.
Did I mention, the game is absolutely gorgeous looking? I kept pausing to admire the scenery. I’m excited for photo mode.
Digital copy is downloaded and the clock is counting down. Midnight can’t come soon enough. I just want to feel the rumble of the controller when the axe cones flying back to the hand of Kratos. I’m going to be distracted at work thinking about playing it and staring at my new Kratos Funko POP figure on my desk.
I was disappointed that the digital art book, comic, and dynamic theme will not be unlocked until midnight either.
@get2sammyb Thank you for being so responsive in this comment section. Seeing as he is mappped to that button, will this website receive a temporary logo update for launch day? “Push Square (for Atreus)”
@get2sammyb Is the command to direct Atreus mapped to a single button (triangle, square, etc) or is he summoned by a context sensitive on-screen prompt?
This makes me so happy for fans, Sony Santa Monica, and all PS4 owners. The wait is going to be excruciating for my digital preorder to unlock. Thank you for the review!
@Rudy_Manchego I’m halfway through 2 and stuck on Euryale. Either I’m not used to the PS3 controller anymore or my button mashing skills have slowed with age. I can’t seem to mash circle fast enough.
@get2sammyb Thank you! So excited to read the PushSquare review. I’m encouraged by the embargo lifting so early. I think the Sony execs must be confident in what has been put together.
@get2sammyb Should we keep an eye out for the review to drop tonight? It looks like the embargo is lifting but I did not know if you had enough time to play it yet.
@Fight_Teza_Fight I agree! It always pays to wait until Black Friday/Cyber Monday for games released in September/October. I got Mafia III and BioShock: The Collection for half-off ($30) just a few weeks after they hit the market.
God of War appeared on the February cover and releases in April. Spider-Man on the May cover maybe releases in July? I really hope it comes out over the summer. I will hopefully have finished God of War and Detroit by then.
Getting ready for the new God of War by playing the original games for the first time. I had tried playing the first entry, but I did not feel it aged well. So I watched the cutscene movie on YouTube and jumped into the second game. So happy that I did because I’m loving it and will likely finish it this weekend. Then I will check out 3 remastered on PS4.
@Wazeddie22 I definitely agree. I would love to see single player DLC content after launch like Undead Nightmare. There is a market for it. Unfortunately, often the reality is that a focus on a persistent online mode is more profitable in the long run especially with the huge production and marketing budgets that these AAA games typically involve. Rockstar has been wise enough to keep the two modes largely separate (unlike Ubisoft) so I hope they continue the trend. I am right there rooting with you for the single player mode as a lengthy campaign with post-launch support.
@Wazeddie22 I am more about the single player side too. However, I think it is not fair to say GTA 5 sacrificed SP for MP. It had a 30+ hour SP campaign. Yes, the after launch focus became about MP, but they certainly built a quality and lengthy SP experience. I believe it will follow a similar pattern with RDR2.
I may use the Play Time Management on myself. I have gone way too late into the night with some play sessions and a forced end time would be helpful haha.
@Gatatog I was pleasantly surprised to see Will Yun Lee in the new Netflix series Altered Carbon. He has some awesome fight scenes. It makes me wish he would be playing the live-action Wei Shen too.
I really would have preferred a sequel. The first game is so underrated. It was a great open world game. The city had so much character and atmosphere. The characters were well written and the story was captivating.
@PS_Nation The main campaign was 14 hours according to the HowLongToBeat website, which would be solid for Spider-Man. It could easily add 20 or more on top of that after packing on the open world side quests and collections. Regardless, I would rather have a shorter campaign with reasonable pacing than a bloated story that drags on for too long.
I loved Rise of the Tomb Raider even after feeling sour about the timed exclusivity. This is a day one purchase as long as they don't pull that again. The sequel was such a big improvement on the already impressive reboot.
Aiming to make it through Horizon Zero Dawn this month. I loved the opening chapter, but got distracted with other games. I will feel sad if I do not finish it by year's end.
Finishing L.A. Noire. Then I’ll be jumping into Wolfenstein II which should be delivered today. Got it for $25 during the Black Friday sale. Always worth waiting on big end-of-the-year games.
Phew, I thought from the headline that they had done away with the whole interrogation system which is one of the core parts of the game. I guess the new titles do make it simpler, but Doubt did not always cause Cole to become aggressive so Bad Cop may not always apply tonally.
@Th3solution Yup, that's why I never buy games on launch during the end of the year rush. They will be hugely discounted for Black Friday/Cyber Monday/Christmas sales. I picked up Mafia III for half price only a few weeks after its launch.

I must get this after watching the videos. It looks like it can take down just about any enemy.

@DLB3 That’s the reversible cover. The horse is wearing a bandana and cowboy hat too.

@get2sammyb Heads up that there are four GoW Funko Pop figures from the new game available on Amazon US
Draugr

Atreus
Kratos with axe
I'm not sure if it is worth an article, but they are due out on April 1 which may give us a clue to the release date.

Bummer about The Inpatient
Re: L.A. Noire Remaster Does Away with Its Often Confusing Trust, Doubt, Lie System

Re: Hands On: Bravo Team Is Straight-Faced Co-Op Time Crisis for PlayStation VR
@get2sammyb Thank you! I just finished Until Dawn last month and I am eager to see a connecting story in that world.

Interested, but still more intrigued by Supermassive's The Inpatient.
Re: Hands On: DOOM VFR Cleverly Keeps You on the Move in PlayStation VR
I was wondering how movement would work with the frenzied pace of the original. Teleporting in this game seems to make a lot of sense.
Re: Free PlayStation VR Demo Disc Includes Unreleased Games
Yes! So that's where the Moss demo was hiding. I could not find it on the PSN Store under the game page. Excited to try Star Child and Tiny Trax too.
Re: Hands On: Moss Is a Divine Demonstration of What PlayStation VR Can Do
@get2sammyb Is it only the EU store? I don’t see it in the NA store but I may be missing something.
Edit: Also, thank you for the preview. This is my most anticipated PSVR game.
