Re: God of War Patch 1.20 Adds Photo Mode on PS4

Excellent! I am about half-way through the campaign so I will be able to use this mode a lot and I plan to replay the game at some point too. Buried in that blog post is the best news though. Universal text size increase! Hopefully, it actually modifies the text enough now across the menus and subtitles.

Re: Here's Why Recalling Kratos' Leviathan Axe in God of War Feels Amazing

That was fascinating and enlightening. Amazing little details that combined to have the full effect such as the "wiggle" time for the axe to dislodge itself from the enemy/object, placement of his arm, and arc of the axe. That attention to detail can become invisible to the player, but the overall experience benefits so greatly from it. This game is an astoundingly beautiful blend of art and science. Sony Santa Monica deserves all of the praise that they are getting.

Re: Poll: What Are Your First Impressions of God of War?

I had the digital preorder loaded so I got to play for about three hours before going to bed. The relationship between Kratos and Atreus is pitch perfect. It felt like a real father-son dynamic. The dialogue has a great flow between them. You feel the weight of the responsibility that Kratos bears as a father and the uncertainty that Atreus feels in his recently changed life.

I adjusted to the combat easier than I thought I would. Where the series had previously been all mashing and combos for me, this game is more methodical and rhythmic. But the feeling is still intense and the effects are visceral. I really like the feel. The throwing and catching of the axe is so satisfying to experience. The first two bosses were impressive and challenging.

Did I mention, the game is absolutely gorgeous looking? I kept pausing to admire the scenery. I’m excited for photo mode.

Digital copy is downloaded and the clock is counting down. Midnight can’t come soon enough. I just want to feel the rumble of the controller when the axe cones flying back to the hand of Kratos. I’m going to be distracted at work thinking about playing it and staring at my new Kratos Funko POP figure on my desk.

I was disappointed that the digital art book, comic, and dynamic theme will not be unlocked until midnight either.

@get2sammyb Thank you for being so responsive in this comment section. Seeing as he is mappped to that button, will this website receive a temporary logo update for launch day?
“Push Square (for Atreus)”

@get2sammyb Is the command to direct Atreus mapped to a single button (triangle, square, etc) or is he summoned by a context sensitive on-screen prompt?

This makes me so happy for fans, Sony Santa Monica, and all PS4 owners. The wait is going to be excruciating for my digital preorder to unlock. Thank you for the review!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 212

Getting ready for the new God of War by playing the original games for the first time. I had tried playing the first entry, but I did not feel it aged well. So I watched the cutscene movie on YouTube and jumped into the second game. So happy that I did because I’m loving it and will likely finish it this weekend. Then I will check out 3 remastered on PS4.

Re: Rumour: Red Dead Redemption 2 Will Feature a Battle Royale Mode

@Wazeddie22 I definitely agree. I would love to see single player DLC content after launch like Undead Nightmare. There is a market for it. Unfortunately, often the reality is that a focus on a persistent online mode is more profitable in the long run especially with the huge production and marketing budgets that these AAA games typically involve. Rockstar has been wise enough to keep the two modes largely separate (unlike Ubisoft) so I hope they continue the trend. I am right there rooting with you for the single player mode as a lengthy campaign with post-launch support.

@Wazeddie22 I am more about the single player side too. However, I think it is not fair to say GTA 5 sacrificed SP for MP. It had a 30+ hour SP campaign. Yes, the after launch focus became about MP, but they certainly built a quality and lengthy SP experience. I believe it will follow a similar pattern with RDR2.

Re: Spider-Man PS4 Playthroughs Taking Multiple Days

@PS_Nation The main campaign was 14 hours according to the HowLongToBeat website, which would be solid for Spider-Man. It could easily add 20 or more on top of that after packing on the open world side quests and collections. Regardless, I would rather have a shorter campaign with reasonable pacing than a bloated story that drags on for too long.
