@Hoodie718 I'm having that problem too. I played the demo disc and they had the buy button that was so tempting to click. But I'm trying to enjoy each experience fully before I buy a new game. It's difficult and I will cave on grabbing Rez and Job Simulator this weekend.
Finished Telltale's Batman episode 2 in anticipation of the third episode coming this Tuesday. Going to restart my play on Until Dawn and do the full campaign before Halloween. Been playing Until Dawn: Rush of Blood on VR too. That game is fun and just the right amount of creepy.
I've got the collector's edition pre-ordered. I fully realize that the hype balloon could be overinflated like No Man's Sky. That might be leading to a heavy dose of disappointment like NMS, but I still have faith that all this hard work has to pay off in a satisfying game. My expectations will be in check for this one too.
That was beautiful and effective. I hope we find out a little bit more about the characters and story soon. Just a general outline along with the fact of whether you will be playing as one character or more. Also, if it includes the Marston family.
There are minor issues with some of the brighter lighting and colors, but it looks great overall. The improved textures, higher resolution, and farther draw distance really add a lot to the world. Playing Arkham VR had me itching to revisit these games and I'm happy to have them on a current gen console.
@starhops Thank you for the article. That was an interesting read. I agree with the author that GTA Online has probably provided Rockstar with incentive to beef up the multiplayer aspect in future games to take advantage of microtransactions. But he acknowledged that RDR2 has been in development for years so the main focus has probably been on single player from the beginning which is reassuring to me. Rockstar knows that they hit it out of the part with the story and characters in the previous game so I cannot see them abandoning that in the single player mode of RDR2.
That's truly a bummer. I love Sleeping Dogs. Great story and characters mixed with fun and original gameplay. If you haven't played it then I recommend picking up the PS4 remaster. The progression system was addictive too.
Part of what I love about the concept of VR is wish fulfillment. I've always wished to be Batman or walk with dinosaurs or pilot a huge tank. The fact that these fantasies are available in an immersive virtual world is exciting to me.
@NoCode23 I also quit on one of the quick draw bosses. The controls were finicky and it was infuriating. I've tried to put this one out of my mind after the masterpiece of Redemption.
@xMEADx Even if MS has Rift support, the issue is still cost for many gamers. It is $600 for Rift plus the cost of Scorpio system versus $400 base model ($500 for the bundle) for PSVR for people who are most likely already PS4 owners.
@get2sammyb What other VR game reviews can we expect this week? Are there a lot under embargo until launch? I am specifically curious about Here They Lie, Loading Human, Rez Infinite, and Battlezone.
I would snap it up in a second. It's one of my favorite games of last gen. It had a truly fantastic narrative with colorful characters. The moments where John rides off to Mexico by Jose Gonzalez and back home to Compass by Jamie Lidell are some of my favorite in all of gaming. Rockstar always nails the soundtracks.
I am looking forward to and dreading this game in equal measure. I pity my neighbors as there will be lots of screams and shouts. But the game is perfectly timed for Halloween seeing as it releases in October. I think there is a lot of potential for horror games on VR as it can truly immerse you in terror. There is the danger that VR games with too many jump scares could make it uncomfortable to play for long periods though.
Why all the hate for Telltale in the comments? The formula is not the tired rinse and repeat of Assassin's Creed or LEGO because the stories are still engrossing, the characters are well defined, and the writing is sharp. The Walking Dead season one is a masterpiece. The Wolf Among Us is mature detective/fantasy fiction done right. Tales from Borderlands won near universal critical acclaim (though I cannot comment because I have not played it).
The first episode of Batman was uneven, but I love what they are trying to do by bringing in all elements of Bruce and Batman. The politics and secretive life of Bruce mixed with the detective work and action of Batman. This season could be amazing, if they balance the elements to make a smoother flowing narrative. I have never understood why people jump on the bandwagon to hate on a company when they put out something less than perfect after producing a string of stellar games.
Oh hell yes. Velocity 2X nailed every aspect of a great gaming experience for me — responsive controls, beautiful art style, high energy music, addictive gameplay, and challenging objectives. I cannot wait to see what they do in the VR arena.
I think some people have unrealistic expectations for it being a revolutionary experience. But for most people with reasonable expectations, I do believe that it will be a game of the year worthy contender. Everything they've shown itches that sci-fi explorer sweet spot. It will be a game that I will get lost inside and lose track of time. That escape into fantasy is what motivates a lot of people to play games and this looks like a portal to fantastic worlds.
@jbrewer99 Yes, there is a physical version up for pre-order now. I just placed my order on Amazon. Been waiting so long for this to finally be officially announced.
I am ok with the delay because I love the games and want them to look stellar. But I wish that there was a tentative release window like Q4 2016 or Q1 2017...just some idea of when it might pop up.
I don't believe this is something that any fan of either series would celebrate as the right move. I would have loved a straight Blood Dragon sequel instead.
@get2sammyb I can't get the link to work, but go to Sherlock Holmes Games page on Facebook. It's the post from Friday.
I was really bummed out until I realized that I could import it.
Just got a UK copy off eBay. It stinks that they postponed the release in North America. I can understand maybe running into manufacturing issues for the physical copies, but there is no reason to delay the digital version.
Interesting new options. I would not want sports games every month, but it is a welcome change. Plus it is a AAA title, which is what everyone has been asking for recently.
I'm am in. I haven't played Asylum since it came out so I would love to revisit it. City was one of my favorite last gen games and it'll be great to play it with all dlc attached.
@AyeHaley Yes, it does get better. The ship graveyard is actually one of my least favorite chapters in any Uncharted. There are some big set pieces after including a plane and a horse caravan that are thrilling. There are also quieter moments of exploration and character development. UC3 is a phenomenal game IMO. But be prepared for a difficult final few chapters. Not as bad as UC2 but tough. It builds to a great climax.
Finishing up Uncharted 3 in my prep for the fourth entry. May 10th can't come soon enough and I took two vacation days after the release to play it. After UC3, I'm going to dive into Ratchet & Clank. I've never played any game in the series.
I am a newcomer to the franchise. I pre-ordered this game after reading the review and I cannot wait to play it tomorrow. It is nice to have some lighter entertainment amidst of all darkness and apocalyptic settings that populate so many modern games.
I can't find myself being excited about getting a half-step system. I don't want to buy a 4K TV either when there is so little available streaming/cable in the format let alone in the Blu-ray market. This system is rumored to be a lot more powerful than the PS4, but I would rather wait for PS5. The thing that will bother me is if a large swath of developers start optimizing games for the PS4K that struggle to run well on the standard PS4. It is always good to future proof with technology (PS3 with Blu-ray drive over XBOX 360 with DVD drive), but jumping too soon is a sure way to lose money when the demand is not necessarily there yet.
That was a poorly put together post on the blog by Sony. All they had to do was swap one sentence and say "base model preorders coming soon" to reflect what it says on the official site. Messaging is so important in launching new tech. The Xbox One/PS4 E3 launch clearly proved that point.
@get2sammyb It's just an unbelievably dishonest move. It's available as a core set everywhere else that it's being sold but not in the US. I am really dumbfounded especially after Shuhei acknowledged that many fans already have the contollers and camera. So frustrating that I am sure it will turn many longtime players off from preorder.
I just cannot see a reason to delay revealing the price and release date any further. The other big players have announced their prices for VR sets, so now is the right time to jump in and throw out a lower price point than the competition.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 Is Official, Launches Fall 2017 on PS4
Rockstar: "...the game's vast and atmospheric world will also provide the foundation for a brand new online multiplayer experience."
So it sounds like a single player campaign with multiplayer mode growing out of it, correct? I do not want a multiplayer only game.
Re: Review: 100ft Robot Golf (PS4)
Good to hear! I was looking forward to this one based on the silliness factor of the original trailer and it sounds like they delivered.
