Re: Feature: Five Ways PS4 Can Keep the Lead in the Next-Gen Console Clash

Cloud7794

@get2sammyb You think PS4 will get a price drop to $349 this year? From history we can see that every PS home console gets a price drop of at least $50 within the first year, is it reasonable to expect Sony will follow through with it this generation as well? (lol I feel like one of those press reporters).

Edit: I have no idea what the price in £ has been historically, but I guess if you have more knowledge with that I'd still get the picture.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 26

Cloud7794

Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine! (Just sang that last Sunday)

I've been playing Child of Light almost every chance I get. When I want a break, though, I've been playing Project M and Naruto Clash of Ninja Revolution 3 on my Wii. Also just started Vagrant Story last night, so I guess that counts!

Re: Your Return to Borderlands 2 on PS Vita Will Be a Little Lonelier

Cloud7794

@danny2kd True, I just can't wait for the backlash though. "Haha Vita sucks it can't provide the exact same experience PS3 can!" For most of us on this site, it seems 2p is more than enough, as long as coop is included at all. For such a large game to be running on Vita already is a miracle; I wouldn't want to have to worry about the game becoming unplayable because of 4p being forced in. Welcome to PushSquare btw!

@20thpaul As with almost every multiplayer Vita game, you'll need 2 carts/downloads. I think the PSP had some games where it could do some weird ad-hoc game sharing mechanic, but to my knowledge this isn't on Vita games.

Re: Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 Continues the Console War on Vita

Cloud7794

@MadchesterManc I saw Victory on sale and it got me curious to take a chance on the series. I'll borrow one of the games from a friend of mine (who buys all things Moe) when he comes back to Florida in the fall, since I already want to give the series a shot. As far as my thoughts on it: if the game's good, I'll play it. I neither like nor dislike Moe in games, though it has kept me from picking up a title before (Mugen Souls). Also considering jumping into the Atelier series.

@get2sammyb I thought it had to be something different, usually you're not so overtly unhappy when writing about such games, though it's kind of obvious they're not quite your thing. The name didn't bother me until you mentioned it though, now it's really getting to me :/ Why is there a semicolon? And why is the 1 attached like that? I would have personally preferred Reb1rth or something.

Re: Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 Continues the Console War on Vita

Cloud7794

So the shudder and sigh: was this a particularly bad Neptunia game? Or is it over the game's presentation and target audience? I'm legitimately confused there. I'm not judging, just curious.

Either way, nice to see the Vita's getting yet another game. This is definitely the year of the Vita, and though I likely won't pick up this game (I've never tried this series), it's still cool to know that the Vita's influx of games and announcements hasn't really slowed

Re: Who Would Win Wednesdays: Heihachi Mishima vs. Jude Mathis

Cloud7794

Ah man: a guy who took on two gods, or a guy who took on two devils.

Tough choice, but I think I'll go with Jude only because of his speed bonus and healing capabilities. Then again, whenever a "Who would Win Wednesdays" comes around, I always imagine how the scenario would play out in PS AllStars, which I don't think is too fair for Heihachi this time around as he's kinda bad in that game.

Re: Are There Any Hidden Features in PS4 Firmware Update 1.70?

Cloud7794

Love the update, but come on Sony! If they're all about sharing and caring with this new console, then it's only logical to put a gifting option in the store :/ When will that come around, it'd be so much easier to give birthday presents and the like of downloadable games and content.

Either way, great update, but Sony's surprised me with such lack of foresight there. It wouldn't be so bad if they at least mentioned it as a coming feature or something.

Re: This Freedom Wars Footage Raises Plenty of Questions

Cloud7794

I'm interested to see them justify the prison sentence. If more-or-less everyone has a lengthy prison sentence, doesn't it seem kinda pointless to care about it? Really looking forward to the game, but I'm still a bit iffy on that plot point (though the trailer seemed to explain it a tad). I'll find out wen release comes

Re: This Mad Mathematical Formula Proves That PlayStation All-Stars Hasn't Been Forgotten

Cloud7794

@rastamadeus To be fair with the Nintendo fanbase, I've noticed that many of them believe Nintendo to be the only company to ever innovate, sans MS in one or two areas. I've been told how Sony ripped off nintendo with analog sticks (really?) and that the PS Eye was a ripoff off Kinect. Where do they even get that last part?

That's really my only beef with that fanbase though, besides the occasional "Vita is dead; Wii U is just unrealized potential" troll.

Re: Review: BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma (PlayStation 3)

Cloud7794

It may also be worth mentioning that this feels surprisingly different from previous Blazblue titles in its fighting. Previous Blazblues favored confirming into long combos with devastating results. While this one certainly still keeps some aspect of that, it seems to favor getting smaller combos in and bringing the opponents health down by degrees instead of all at once. It seems they wanted to go for a game that would likely not be decided by a well-placed combo at mid-health, but one where you need to adapt to your ever-diminishing health bar while remaining offensive.

Re: Review: Tales of Symphonia Chronicles (PlayStation 3)

Cloud7794

@AVahne I grew to appreciate it a tad more a LONG while after I played it. As I let it sit in my mind, I could at least appreciate the effort and extra look into the story and setting that it provides. Emil is obviously the low point, followed by the major lack of relevance the old main characters had. Nonetheless, it was alright for the story, though picking it up after Symphonia would severely confuse almost anyone expecting another masterpiece.

Re: Soapbox: How a Niche PS Vita Exclusive Made Me Feel Wanted

Cloud7794

@BornOfEvil A game having "appealing" imagery doesn't denote a perverted target demographic, however some games are so obviously catered to a demographic that it's nearly sickening (take Girl Fight on our very own PSN).

I believe that game companies should target other demographics more often in just about every way. I was surprised to find that Zen Pinball had such a huge following, and Project Diva F did better than I'd have (I'd've?) thought as well. Then we have things like Farming Simulator, and the upcoming Goat Simulator. Then, some games have "strong female leads" but largely detract you from the fact that you are playing a female by just not pointing it out much, e.g, Final Fantasy 13 & 13-2. More female-oriented games may stop some of the eye-rolling when girls hear about killstreaks, dash-cancels, edge-hogging, +78 Onyx Swords, and Ray Spheres.

Incidentally, I watch "Kill la Kill", and while the show most obviously caters strongly to a male audience and is rife with fan service (which is more amusing than sexy anyways), it also throws in a good amount of female-oriented fan service. It's a strange feeling when the shoe is on the other foot.

Re: Final Fantasy XV on PS4 Still Looks Absolutely Sensational

Cloud7794

@get2sammyb Fair enough. Then when I play through this and upload video/pictures I'll be sure to include the 'giant eel thing' tag.

@Charlesnarles @FullbringIchigo That's why I'm conflicted. On the one hand the older FF's had glorious summons, on the other they could make them so much more awesome and overpowered as bosses.

Re: Final Fantasy XV on PS4 Still Looks Absolutely Sensational

Cloud7794

"Giant Eel Thing" is Leviathan, a summon that's in quite a few of the games.

The thing is, seeing Leviathan there really makes me excited for the use of summons in XV. Will they be obtained in fights like that and used at all? Will you be able to summon them to fight for you as a legitimate tactic (unlike in XII and XIII, where summons were largely useless, especially late-game)?

A large part of me hopes they won't be playable though. That they'll just be boss fights that are extremely huge and epic, and will basically wreak havoc like Final Fantasy lore says they can. I'm conflicted here.

Re: Talking Point: Who's the Cutest Couple on PlayStation?

Cloud7794

I'd say Squall and Rinoa.

I personally feel that Final Fantasy 8 had one of the best romances out of any Final Fantasies, if because it was a bit more realistic and turbulent. 9 and 10 were pretty good ones, but they really didn't do it much for me because of lack of conflicting interests. 8 didn't have all that many either, but just the sheer fact that it was more a slightly-hectic triangle than a from-the-start couple sells it a little more for me.

Thanks for reminding me I have to buy FF8 from the PS1 classics.
