Re: Gasp, Outlast Confirmed for February EU Instant Game Collection

Cloud7794

It kinda saddens me with all these indies for PS4 PS+. Not because I have anything against indies, but those devs are making games just to have them instantly made free. I know they sign a deal and are probably making a good chunk of change from it, but since I can't immediately see that I always feel sorry for them @_@

Re: What Type of Connection Will You Need for PlayStation Now?

Cloud7794

@FullbringIchigo I think that's largely the point. Most 'muricans have a stable connection of at least 5 mbps, and the number normally doesn't fluctuate too much. I can just imagine in Europe, though, where one person will have 50+mbps and another guy just a small drive down the street may have 5 mbps as his maximum. I think the push to homogenize internet connectability was stronger in the US (or at least more plausible).

Re: The Producer of Tekken Wants to Continue the Series on PS4

Cloud7794

I honestly didn't like Revolution in the slightest, but that's probably due to the lack of local multiplayer leaving the whole game in bad taste for me. I'm very glad the next Tekken won't be a port though. I love the series; it's my favorite "realistic" fighter, and not the least because of its very accurate (for a game) portrayal of different fighting styles, such as kickboxing and aspects of Kenpo. Can't wait to see what they do with it on PS4.

Re: Wait, Square Enix Didn't Even Port Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster?

Cloud7794

@get2sammyb I honestly believe we'll see Final Fantasy XV within a year and a half. It's (regrettably) missed 2014 so far, but I think Spring 2015 should be about the time it's coming.

Also... maybe they've been working on a new Dissidia behind-the-scenes? I know it's EXTREMELY wishful thinking, but a man can dream <.<

Re: Game of the Year: Watch Us Recap the Top Three PlayStation Games of 2013

Cloud7794

I'm glad that The Last of Us got the gold (though it was about as much a surprise as a new Call of Duty being announced). I haven't gotten the chance to play it myself only because I fear it'll be too much like Uncharted. I admit that that both games are high points of the PS3's lifetime and that both are beautifully done, but I was never too partial to Uncharted. Just wasn't my type of game.

Re: Want a Final Fantasy X-3? You Should Probably Pipe Up

Cloud7794

@Bliquid The world of Ivalice is amazingly deep. I may have not played Vagrant Story (also in Ivalice if I remember correctly), but playing through FF Tactics and XII makes Ivalice one of the best fantasy worlds around to me. All the more reason the storyline in XII should have been either amazing or non-existent (first fully open-world FF?). What they handed us was just bad, and regrettably detracted much of the focus from the world it was in just by the sheer fact that you're trying to remember the last thing that happened.

I do get your point with the first 6 titles though, but XII's plot is just complex enough to let you down, knowing how much better it could have been. Besides, I think no one will forgive Square if they go back to the same formula from, say, FF II. If they do remake XII, I'd at the very least like them to add extra cutscenes and dialogue during the particularly long bits like The Feywood and pre-Tomb of Kings desert. They can't remove the story by this point, but I'd love if they took some care to improve it.

Re: Review: Dragon Ball Z Budokai HD Collection (PlayStation 3)

Cloud7794

@ShogunRok And another amazingly late comment! Just saying, I used the password function crazily when the game first came out: my friends all got it too and we were always trying to beat each other down. Sure it may seem pretty pointless now, but back hen it was one of the most convenient parts of the game. Like the review stated though, a fourth would be so amazingly welcome.
(I'm commenting now because I just got the game after my original was cut down in its prime by careless siblings).

Re: Want a Final Fantasy X-3? You Should Probably Pipe Up

Cloud7794

@Bliquid To be fair, XII was quite different in feel to previous Final Fantasies. In most previous FF titles, you had an epic, large-scale storyline set inside an epic world. The reason XII gets less love is because the storyline could not match the world, although they obviously tried. To put it another way: It had amazingly expansive locales and dungeons but the storyline failed to truly tie it all together. It's probably because the game often take you to a new, glorious area, gives a bit of story, and then you could take so long to get to the next story-point that you've forgotten half the reason you're there to begin with. This is in contrast to another FF that gets its fair share of love and hate: VIII. VIII had a storyline that I would rate among the best in FF, but the traversable world, though diverse, wasn't as large-scale as the story.

As a sidenote, though XIII doesn't have a great storyline, it's one that is cohesive with its setting. I feel that's why it has more fans that one would expect.

Re: Sony: Publishers Will Push the Boundaries of PlayStation 4 in 2014

Cloud7794

@Gamer83 I also hope the same. It's the main reason I don't look forward to Titanfall and Watch Dogs as much as I did. Both will be brought down a bit by cross-gening. I still look forward to Destiny though, but more because it reminds me of Diablo + Guild Wars but with guns.

No doubt cross-gen ends next-year though. I imagine it's a way to grab those who don't quite want to transition. Think about it: what if you really enjoyed Watch Dogs and found out the sequel would be a PS4/Xbox One exclusive? Just another reason to make the jump to the new gen, then devs can really make their games shine.

Re: Talking Point: Has Father Christmas Added to Your PlayStation Backlog?

Cloud7794

In a roundabout way. Got a gift card for Gamestop, so that might add quite a bit to my backlog. I may just use it to pre-order Final Fantasy 14 though, or pre-order Lightning returns. That Cloud costume is undeniably one of the biggest things I'm looking forward to this coming year. That's including all the amazing games coming to PS4.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This... Christmas?

Cloud7794

Playing Blazblue: Continuum Shift (and Extend), Killzone: Shadow Fall, Blacklight, and Maplestory. I'm just waiting for a PS4 RPG to whisk me away to failing college classes and complete seclusion from society. Okay, maybe not fail college classes, but no one would see me outside my room or classroom for months.

Re: Sony: PS4 Exclusives Must Take Advantage of System's Capabilities

Cloud7794

@BornOfEvil Yeah I knew I forgot a game, from what I've seen the Division will be great. Day One for me, definitely.

I do know about Watch Dogs and Destiny being weighed down, which is unfortunate, but I have more hope for Destiny because it is nearly an MMO. With how dependent on internet it will be, I think they'll be able to improve on it easier than Titanfall. With Titanfall being an FPS only, I can't see them really having much to improve on after release.

I hope that they release a pay-version of Deep Down as well, where you pay the normal $60 for the game and get at least as much in DLC as you paid for (and a few special DLC, like maybe a permanent cool magic and some other things). That might make people take it more as the game it is, instead of something F2P and, thus, subpar.

I also agree that Driveclub has a lot of potential, and I'll probably buy it to support our first-parties. I'm just not that into racing games (besides Crash Team Racing and Wipeout). We'll see how I enjoy Driveclub when I get it.

As a sidenote, I'm seriously bummed out about the lack of local co-op titles so far. The Order won't have it either, which was a major disappointment. Mark Cerny went on and on about bringing the fun of gaming back, and that was a large part of it. So what if my screen will be split in half, I'd rather that than have to buy a second console just to play games with the family.

Re: Sony: PS4 Exclusives Must Take Advantage of System's Capabilities

Cloud7794

Exactly my thoughts on Titanfall, and why I'm glad Infamous: Second Son is PS4 exclusive and not on PS3 as well. The thing with Titanfall is this: it will probably be a very good game, but it won't be the best game it could be. The 360 limits it, and not just in graphics. Bigger, better maps, larger scale battles, destruction, content all will be less than optimal because they can't make the current-gen version so vastly superior without making the last-gen version seem like trash.

I'm especially glad that they've come out and said this. Makes me even more excited for The Order, Infamous, and Deep Down.

Seriously, my levels of excitement for Deep Down are sky-high. That game and Final Fantasy 14 PS4 are top of my list for 2014. Then The Order, Destiny, and Infamous. I know I'm missing a few too.

Re: Sony's Studio Liverpool Rises from the Ashes as Firesprite

Cloud7794

@Reverend_Skeeve No one REALLY thinks it's a horrible game, but when you don't have dirt to throw, you make things up. The same people that say Uncharted was boring, The Last of Us was horrible, and Halo is a much more revolutionary game than Super Mario Bros. or FF7 are the ones that pretend that WipeOut is a bad game.

Re: Sony's Studio Liverpool Rises from the Ashes as Firesprite

Cloud7794

@Reverend_Skeeve Being indie now, though, would they release it multi-platform? It'd be funny to see all the fanboys who claimed WipeOut was a horrible game to turn around and say that one of playstation's "best" exclusives is now on Xbox as well.

Since they aren't first-party anymore though, I guess a Gran WipeOut won't be in the works :/

Re: You'll Be Able to Play Critically Acclaimed PS3 Games on PS4 with Gaikai

Cloud7794

@Carl-G Because that would be the price everyone knew the PS4 for. Sure they have their $399 original one, but if they released a $499 "enhanced" one with BC and all that, that would be the one everyone talks about/makes comparisons with. It'd no longer be that $100 cheaper console in many people's eyes.

@get2sammyb We already know that, at the very least, PS4 can detect what PS3 games are in it. The upgrade program kinda already showed us that. I would, at the very least, like them to reduce the price of the game dramatically (aka only charge us for the streaming cost, not the game) if we A) Bought the game on PSN. or B) Have the game disc in the system. They could also make it where if you go with option B, you can't play the game without inserting the disc, or if you do want to play it without the disc, THEN you have to pay more for it.

I hope I made sense there @_@

Re: Sony Gives Thanks with Meaty North American PS Plus Update

Cloud7794

Wow this is actually a bit early for Sony o.o Usually they don't announce North America's offerings until like the day before. Will be happy to try Borderlands, but DYAD has me more interested at the moment.

BTW guys, I made it into the First to Greatness I'm the first to pull off Hit Rampage in Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition

Re: Get Your Groove On, Persona 4 Dancing All Night Is Coming to Vita in 2014

Cloud7794

@MadchesterManc Sam has a point, as well as the fact that Persona 4 isn't as heavily female-centric as Diva F. Not saying guys can't enjoy Vocaloid, just saying it's something that obviously has more appeal to women in the West than Western men. Persona 4 is just an overall classic for any gender.

Won't stop me from (likely) getting both anyways

Re: Persona 5 Jumps Out of Your Dreams and into Reality

Cloud7794

@belmont Actually it seems 3 and 4 were fairly easy because they stopped trying to Westernize it. They just translated it more-or-less as is and the series REALLY blew up then.

But seriously guys, this may be the best news I've heard all weekend. It literally made me a tad emotional.

Re: Talking Point: Is the PS4's Limited Launch Lineup a Problem?

Cloud7794

@eLarkos It's not that we're particularly happy that games are delayed. After all, if they are, we hope there is some good reason to it besides sales (Driveclub is polishing itself up, for example). Rather, we're more looking on the bright side. The way you proposed it isn't so bad for people who buy the systems erly, but later on when people are choosing, they're gonna want the system that is consistently releasing titles. With delays comes both hope for improvement and continued interest by others. More people who stay interested = more people buy the console. More people buy the console = more games made for the console. Then it loops. We may be excited for next Spring for the releases, sure, but also for the fact that with those new games coming out, so many more people join in, and our community grows

@divinelite Final Fantasy 15 was announced nearly at the same time as 13, just under a different name. The wait for 13 can't compare to how long we've technically been waiting for 15 @_@

Re: Talking Point: Is the PS4's Limited Launch Lineup a Problem?

Cloud7794

@eLarkos Yeah, at quite a reduced price because of how long it's been on the shelves. Remember, these companies are out to get money and timing is important. If, say, a new NFS, GT, Forza, and new IP Driveclub came out in the same month... some aren't going to get many sales at all.

Also, people want to see continued support. If you came into some money next year (or more realistically, have been saving), and figured that you'd buy a new console, you'll likely check out the games available and forthcoming. You may say "Wow, there's a lot of good games out... but nothing for the next year?" and decide to buy the other console, because at least you know they're still making good games for it, or at least staggering the release dates well enough to give you that assumption.
