@soyabean135876 There were a few different options in World for silhouettes iirc, including an option to have none.
@LikelySatan The most recent trailer released also showed off the Scarlet Forest. You can count on some volcanic region, and probably some islandy/beachside region being in as well. An Ice region is probable enough but not a guarantee.
@Northern_munkey I've been running near exclusively the Eruptor and the Blitzer for the past month - ttk with the Eruptor has gone up and its utility is down. In particular, when fighting Terminids, Brood Commanders and Hive Guards no longer get 1-shot with well-placed shots. Nursing and Bile Spewers sometimes do but now it's far less consistent. That's not even to mention how much worse it is at hoard-clearing now.
Taking away its shrapnel took away much of both its utility and uniqueness. Its now just a worse Dominator that can take out some objectives. I'm aware that people were dying to their own ricochet shots, but that's more an issue with how the game registers friendly-fire damage, and that's what should have changed. The Breaker Incendiary feels like the team-kill king of primaries at the moment, and I'd had to see that nerfed because of it.
I know this is a lot of text, but ultimately the shrapnel was very core to the identity of the weapon and was the actual fun part of running it. As usual I'm still gonna be enjoying the game but it's hard finding a primary that feels solid and it sucks to be running the same things all the time because the rest feel inconsequential.
Let's not forget: Arrowhead isn't entirely happy with the situation either (nor are they faultless, mind you), but at least one person at Arrowhead has... "encouraged" the review-bombing as a way to put pressure on Sony.
Every once-in-a-while Sony completely bumbles their way into a stupid decision - just remember the PS3 launch fiasco. We can hold them responsible for their poor decision-making.
Interested in the thought process behind people who look at this and just go "Ummmm... no." I'd be interested to see where a "more respectable" game studio could go with an adults-only title. It's not like the rating is relegated exclusively to sex games - I wouldn't call the game "Fear and Hunger" erotic, for example, but its nudity and violence do keep it solidly 18+.
@Mostik Between both PC and PS4 I definitely felt a disproportionate amount of backpack+railgun+breaker in the games. It is pretty boring to see the same thing all the time, though I have nothing wrong with people playing the meta in general. Even in the context of PvE games, nerfs are just as important to the overall health of a game as buffs. This isn't the kind of game where getting to a high level is supposed to allow you to just coast through later content, but is instead supposed to give you a wider variety of options to increase versatility.
Man I've been playing Helldivers on PC, so glad I haven't run into people like this. Then again I'm super slow to play with randos, only really with friends. Reminds me of people who mod Monster Hunter for infinite resources - you're just kneecapping your experience with the game.
People getting big mad for no real reason. When I saw Baldur's Gate pop up I just thought "sucks it's going to Spiderman" and moved on. If I'm being real: this is probably the "best" outcome to the widest variety of people considering the reach of Spiderman vs BG3.
@Fighting_Game_Loser Are you not counting Cross Tag Battle? They had RWBY characters at launch, but also added Arcana Heart and Senran Kagura characters later.
@Drago201 That's part of the fun. It sucks they spoiled that Cloud rides a Segway since my big fan theory hinged on him trading in his motorcycle for a Vespa :/
@Triumph741 I mean Wedge is definitely dead as far as it seems - he got pushed off of the tower. For Rebirth deaths, I'm almost certain that Zack will die at the City of the Ancients. Aerith might also die but Zack is an "easy" choice as his character was already supposed to be dead and overlaps with Cloud's archetype. Granted, I feel that the fact that we're unsure whether they'll actually go through with the original plot is actually a point in Remake's favor: we'll actually be playing through the game not knowing what will happen. We don't actually know, so the game has room to surprise us regardless of whether there's a change.
Now I know everyone will just say "I knew it" when whatever happens, happens - as always. But I have hope that Nomura wasn't allowed to just run rampant, and that they manage to make it interesting.
@Nepp67 Maybe? I don't know your specific problem unfortunately but for me I just tend to press too hard and not fully get onto the next pad. Like I'll press down, down-right, right but I'm on the bottom edge of the right D-pad, not fully on the center, and pressing hard. Since I would be on the bottom edge, the non-split D-pad would consider my input to still be down-right.
You can see if this is your issue in training mode. Turn inputs on and try to do a qcf special. When it fails, look at your inputs - if it shows [down, down-forward, attack] then it was still pressing down and you might want to change the final position of your finger. If it does show [down, down-forward, forward, button], then the problem would be something else, like maybe the button press was slow.
@Nepp67 D-pad takes a lot of practice because of how your finger has to roll COMPLETELY off of the down input to get anything done. This includes pressing down too hard on the edge of either the left or right D-pad, since afaik the D-pad isn't split so it often still thinks you're pressing down.
I always just defaulted to analog sticks, as you tighten up your inputs it gets to be largely fine - I got into Celestial more than enough times before I stopped using a PS5 controller
People who just want to OP should use this option as well. Find the most efficient enemy to grind and just go at it, then change the difficulty when you're sufficiently high level. Unless you're locked into the difficulty like Hard Mode did with Remake.
@Dom_31 I mean he wasn't "playable" in the original - people likely thought he'd be like Red XIII in Remake. Hope they keep his reaction to trying to change his materia though.
They come up with a RIDICULOUS policy to set expectations insanely low, then pretend they "heard the voice of the devs" and implement something that's still stupid, but seems reasonable by comparison.
Make up a $0.20 per download policy that takes effect retroactively, then "Oh no, that's too much! We've decided on another system that's soooooo not unreasonable now that you've seen a much worse one, right?"
I really hope it's better. Disgaea 6 was missing a lot of the Disgaea charm unfortunately. It wasn't even the 3d models, it just felt like a general minor-to-major downgrade all around.
Incredibly surprised the level cap is 12 in this game. I 100% expected it to be 20, though to be fair a typical months-long campaign might just leave you around level 14 at most if your group is meeting regularly.
Although I was joking around with friends that they copied drive rush/parry from SF6, honestly it's pretty reminiscent of the Blitz options (shield and attack) from Xrd. I doubt Wild Assault will steal any Burst meter though. As far as new characters, I hope they have a 2/2 split between newcomers and returning characters like S2.
@SweetSummerShunv Sure, why not? If the story supports it well then there's not too much of an issue. The loss of representation with it would be unfortunate though.
Very excited - each major patch has increased mechanical depth for the game and I'm particularly interested to see what changes they'll make now that one of the big dogs of the fgc is back in stronger form than ever.
@saffeqwe Not at all. If they made it available from the beginning then it would have to be balanced with the possibility of people going in with no abilities or equipment. Locking it to NG+ means they can be sure that players had at least all the abilities and equipment necessary to complete the game, and they can make every encounter with that in mind.
I think having a basic hard mode for a first playthrough is good (not sure if this game has one honestly), but so is having a "Hey, what if the entire game was under the assumption that you're at peak strength" difficulty locked to NG+.
There are simply challenges that can't be made if you have to account for people playing through without access to certain abilities/armor.
Insanely unfortunate news abound with this announcement. I understand that the "ascended" version will be heavily upgraded seemingly, but a sudden shutdown of servers and offering squat for longtime players is not any way to handle it.
That being said, now I won't bother waiting for this to release to make a new server to play with my wife, so at least I'm no longer indecisive on that.
@Dudditz09 You really think they'd double Haru's voice lines like that? Everyone else will get 3 new lines, she'll get 1 new line that will be cut off by Morgana's new monologue.
@bimboliquido IIRC, he was included in Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 because the Naruto author really liked Lars and basically drew fanart. Cyber Connect 2 lead guy saw this as an opportunity to ask Namco for the OK to put him in the game, and they allowed it. It wasn't explicitly some ploy to make him more popular.
@Elodin It's not at all common on PS consoles. On Xbox it was moreso because of the greater freedom in accessibility to things like mod support and whatnot, but PC was obviously the most prominent. This means you can still run into it on PS through cross play, though often the benefits of running cross play outweighed the negative of potentially running into cheaters at some point.
Though my lifelong quest to fill the hole left by Final Fantasy Tactics will forever remain futile, it's always nice to hear a new TRPG is hitting the market. Slim chance, but I might check it out.
@Toypop You say all this but haven't provided even a shred of evidence, and then try to apply incentives and motives on me. You claim rampant review bombing when a single "major" publication has posted an actually bad review. Harassment is out there on Twitter and twitch, but once again since when is this site on twitch drama when it doesn't involve people working in the games industry?
If there was any legitimacy to what you've said, you have such remarkably poor communication skills that you're not able to verbalize it. Just keep claiming conspiracy as you have then.
@GeneJacket I guess let me tell you as someone who loved World and MH Freedom Unite, but just found Rise "good" - Wild Hearts feels closer to what I was hoping for Rise after World. It has the more arcadey feel, with fun traversal and mechanics that feel better than the wirebugs for me (at least so far). The building mechanic feels much more like a unique take on the formula with the options available as it's not just a wirebugs stand-in, but also a stand-in for hunter artes and traps. Speaking as a guy with over 1700 hrs in MHW:I, and more than 500 hrs each in Freedom Unite and MHR:S - I'm having fun with what I've played so far, and more fun than I had starting Rise.
@Toypop Besides the fact that I can't find the article in question, Kara Lynne was also, once again, an industry worker as the community manager of a game company - not just a twitch streamer. As I've said, they do cover industry workers.
As for "review bombing," the only notable site I've seen give it an undeserved low score is Wired. Even the ones that gave it 5's-6's have agreeable reasons for them. If the reviewer was not specifically a HP fan, it seems they often gave the game a lower score because nostalgia couldn't carry it for them. You can find the scores disagreeable with what you'd give it, but I'd hardly call 1 bad review "review bombing by unethical gaming sites" - especially when the main offender can barely be called a gaming site.
@Toypop Twitch drama is something PushSquare NEVER touches, because that's its own brand of vile material. These articles about harassment and such are almost exclusively about industry workers, not so much influencers and streamers.
It's not because its Hogwarts Legacy, its because this site knows better than to deal with Twitch's brand of lunacy. As far as review-bombing, the game has a 9.0 user score on Metacritic for the PS5 edition, what are you on about?
Not buying the game - and thus won't vote here - but as a casual observer the game feels and looks like an "8/10." It seems to have finally accomplished much of what the franchise could actually live up to as a game, unlike just about every other attempt. I can't see it making many new HP fans, but I can definitely see it as the ultimate game for fans. I think I've just had enough of all the Harry Potter stuff. If only we could get some proper Earthsea material 🧙
@R_Ryder Sure, primary and most obviously overt example is her support of protest against Scotland's at-the-time new inclusion law that would allow people who can provide evidence of living as their preferred gender for 3 months. Inherent to the bill was a path to legal gender reassignment without prior surgery or hormones - which JKR stated would (paraphrasing for brevity) "provide protections of those who've had full sex reassignment surgery to intact males." Largely disregarding the bizarre use of the term "intact male," - a veterinary term for a non-neutered animal - it's clear that JKR thinks that trans-women who've not yet gone through surgery do not deserve the legal protections normally afforded to women even if they've been presenting and living as one. She also thinks that "male-oriented bodies" will use the bill to assert themselves further into women-only spaces. People who would force themselves into spaces like that are not going to wait on some government "thumbs up" to do so.
Essentially, she believes that trans women aren't women. She fairly up-front about her belief that they are fundamentally not women as well, and that they shouldn't have access to the same spaces other women are in. If, however, trans women are women, as is the position of many, then she's just galvanizing more people to suppress a subset of women. There are nuances to be discussed about the inclusion of trans women in certain, very specific spaces, but a blanket exclusion is indicative of a relatively poor understanding of biology.
I'll let you have the last word here if you want it, but I'm just now thinking that this is probably not the kind of interaction wanted on a weekly article such as this. I didn't want to leave you unanswered, however, and won't/wouldn't have minded continuing the conversation in a more personal format such as messages.
@R_Ryder "just because the creator is asking to respect women's rights" - she's asking for the respect of some women's rights, while asking for continued suppression for the other women. Honestly one of the most dishonest, if not just lazy, interpretations I've ever seen of JKR's stance.
@brazzios_84 Sunbreak was also easy though. Which is fine, a harder game is not always a better game, but I do feel in general World (and in most ways, Iceborne) was both better and more challenging in the right areas. The only thing about Sunbreak I liked more than Iceborne was gunlance.
Not a fan of the new combat either, but thankfully this is the Portable team so it shouldn't transfer to the main series.
@TommyNL Something being for a target group doesn't mean others can't also enjoy it. If people like the customization / different experience the controller can provide, I see no reason why it's a problem for them to obtain one.
Dude can't handle that his 7/10 game received 7/10 scores.
Also shows that just because you say individually "correct" things, it doesn't mean your conclusion made sense. Yes, there were a lot of bugs, yes many reviewers didn't finish it, and yes some reviewers had issues with the game's choice of main character. Are these why the game didn't sell well? Besides the buggy launch, no. He made a game that had some merits but didn't speak to everyone, then got upset there's no sequel because the game couldn't sell a gorillion copies. Maybe that more says something about the current state of incredibly expensive AAA titles making companies complacent with simply refining what's sold the best instead of taking chances, but then again Days Gone wasn't the most unique game anyways so a sequel probably wouldn't have been greenlit anyways.
@Lebest You didn't respond to my point: you may try again if you wish.
The Switch does not sell the Trails games like PS4 does. That's just fact. You pretend that the Switch outselling PS4 over a year means it will magically move more Trails games. That is a false assumption.
@Lebest I'll just leave some facts here of Japanese launch sales numbers for the Trails games, which are the easiest to find and when they would have sold the most:
Keep in mind these are Japanese sales number - the Switch is INSANELY popular over there. People just aren't following the series on Switch.
Besides, we're not even saying the work should have been put into the PS4 game INSTEAD of the Switch, but that there's no reason NISA should have put so little work into the PS4 version.
@Lebest If you know business you know that emotions are probably one of your best tools in business. But yes when there are 137+ million PS4s + PS5s vs 110+ million switches, the install base alone is greater on PS. Then factor in that the primary fanbase is on PS, which means a greater likelihood for franchise-loyal purchases, it would just make the most business sense to have put some better effort in the PS port than they are currently doing.
@Lebest Very incorrect way of analyzing the situation: the fanbase and games for the Trails series is Playstation-centered at the moment, so the PS4 version should have had real work put in. Especially when you consider it would also be available on PS5. That's not even counting that making a terrible port when you obviously could have done better gets you really bad publicity (like Kingdom Hearts on Switch).
All in all, terrible choice from NISA/FALCOM. All this does is show laziness on their part.
@JJ2 "Problems like crunch should be their own internal issues to solve" - I feel this statement is very shortsighted, as crunch is a most often problem that comes from the top down stemming from things like a lack of proper direction or unrealistic expectations for deadlines from the higher brass.
Problems like that get solved internally either incredibly slowly (took Insomniac at least 2 decades) or not at all. That's the issue with problems in leadership: they're the ones least affected, so they're also much less likely to solve it. Making it public puts pressure on them to start changing things or end up losing face - which has been happening with Naughty Dog.
@TechaNinja Honestly now that there's vrr support, as long as they keep the frame rate uncapped and the game is optimized properly I think there's a good chance for 120hz.
It makes no sense not to include Vita for one key reason: PsTV existed. This was already a "gimmickless" Vita and simply didn't run games that required too many "extra features."

Speaking as a guy with over 1700 hrs in MHW:I, and more than 500 hrs each in Freedom Unite and MHR:S - I'm having fun with what I've played so far, and more fun than I had starting Rise.
Re: Idiots on the Internet Are Still Abusing Abby from The Last of Us 2's Face Model
Re: Idiots on the Internet Are Still Abusing Abby from The Last of Us 2's Face Model
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Hogwarts Legacy?
Not buying the game - and thus won't vote here - but as a casual observer the game feels and looks like an "8/10." It seems to have finally accomplished much of what the franchise could actually live up to as a game, unlike just about every other attempt. I can't see it making many new HP fans, but I can definitely see it as the ultimate game for fans. I think I've just had enough of all the Harry Potter stuff. If only we could get some proper Earthsea material 🧙
Re: New PS5, PS4 Games This Week (13th February to 19th February)
Re: New PS5, PS4 Games This Week (13th February to 19th February)
@R_Ryder "just because the creator is asking to respect women's rights" - she's asking for the respect of some women's rights, while asking for continued suppression for the other women. Honestly one of the most dishonest, if not just lazy, interpretations I've ever seen of JKR's stance.

They probably had some idea lol, love that you guys had it in the article.
Re: Monster Hunter Rise (PS5) - A Fantastic Port of the Series' Best Outing
@brazzios_84 Sunbreak was also easy though. Which is fine, a harder game is not always a better game, but I do feel in general World (and in most ways, Iceborne) was both better and more challenging in the right areas. The only thing about Sunbreak I liked more than Iceborne was gunlance.
Not a fan of the new combat either, but thankfully this is the Portable team so it shouldn't transfer to the main series.
Re: Sony Reveals Highly Customisable Accessibility Controller for PS5
@TommyNL Something being for a target group doesn't mean others can't also enjoy it. If people like the customization / different experience the controller can provide, I see no reason why it's a problem for them to obtain one.
Re: Days Gone Director Blames Woke Reviewers, Programmers for Critical Reception

@Voltan I'll get ninja'd for 20 seconds straight but the trade-off is I get to take you to heaven via the Potemkin express
Re: Trails from Zero on PS4 Is Graphically Inferior to Nintendo Switch, PC Ports
@Lebest You didn't respond to my point: you may try again if you wish.
The Switch does not sell the Trails games like PS4 does. That's just fact. You pretend that the Switch outselling PS4 over a year means it will magically move more Trails games. That is a false assumption.
Re: Trails from Zero on PS4 Is Graphically Inferior to Nintendo Switch, PC Ports
@Lebest I'll just leave some facts here of Japanese launch sales numbers for the Trails games, which are the easiest to find and when they would have sold the most:
Trails of Cold Steel 3: PS4 - 83,680 /// NSW - 6280
Trails of Cold Steel 4: PS4 - 85,161 /// NSW - 6074
Trails into Reverie: PS4 - 83,680 /// NSW - 6227
Keep in mind these are Japanese sales number - the Switch is INSANELY popular over there. People just aren't following the series on Switch.
Besides, we're not even saying the work should have been put into the PS4 game INSTEAD of the Switch, but that there's no reason NISA should have put so little work into the PS4 version.
Re: Trails from Zero on PS4 Is Graphically Inferior to Nintendo Switch, PC Ports
Re: Trails from Zero on PS4 Is Graphically Inferior to Nintendo Switch, PC Ports
Re: No Crunch on The Last of Us PS5, Says Environment Artist
Re: Pounding PS4 Action Game Furi Is Getting a PS5 Version, DLC, and a Free Update Six Years After Release
@TechaNinja Honestly now that there's vrr support, as long as they keep the frame rate uncapped and the game is optimized properly I think there's a good chance for 120hz.
Re: PS Vita the Only Console Snubbed in Sony's New PS Plus Premium Subscription
It makes no sense not to include Vita for one key reason: PsTV existed. This was already a "gimmickless" Vita and simply didn't run games that required too many "extra features."
