Re: Maneater - Underwater Far Cry Is Fintastic

Cloud7794

@get2sammyb I know it's definitely a good bit of hassle, but the accessibility options on the PS4 may help with the control scheme. I don't know the inherent controls, but I'll likely map R2 to one of the face buttons should I play this so I don't have to replace another R2.

Re: Danganronpa Series to Celebrate 10th Anniversary with Monthly News Updates

Cloud7794

@BranJ0 V3's ending was incredibly polarizing for the Danganronpa community. Most people either really liked it or hated it, but my own feelings were mixed. I thought it was a good direction to take, but I also feel like maybe it could have been better foreshadowed. Danganronpa is all about using your evidence to figure things out after all.

V3 is definitely the weakest of the 3 main games, but it's still a good game. The second game is definitely great though, no question that one is worth playing.

Re: Guide: Best PS4 RPGs

Cloud7794

@Shepherd_Tallon It completely depends on taste. The game is great for about 15 hours, gets a bit of a chore for 5-8 hours, and then that chore culminates in massive payoffs for 5-10 hours.

Re: Monster Hunter World: Iceborne's Safi'jiiva Siege Is Live on PS4

Cloud7794

It's fun, though I've only managed to do it once so far since I have work. If anyone needs a tank though that's my forte as a gunlance main!

Also, similarly to Behemoth, Safi'jiiva has a "true unblockable" attack that cannot be guarded even with full guard and Guard up. His pin goes through guard and leaves you with almost no hp.

Re: Gamers Are Convinced Horizon: Zero Dawn Is Coming to PC Next Year

Cloud7794

That would be pretty cool, as even if that is the case the studio is still Sony's so it's not such a major loss - if anything it expands the audience. Exclusives do sell consoles, but after about 2 years the majority of exclusives have basically sold what they will and some being brought to other markets can help boost them again for a time.

Re: Sony Promotes PS4 Remote Play During Google Stadia Launch Week

Cloud7794

I once had the horrible idea of playing Smite through remote play. Our team won but wow that was an... interesting experience.

I've also played MHW on remote play and as long as you change the controls adequately it actually was quite fine. Then again I played MH freedom unite back in the day so maybe I already had some experience.

Re: Get Some of the Best Weapons and Armour in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne with New Event Quests

Cloud7794

Some tips for Gold Rathian: Focus down her tail, then focus the head. Cutting off her tail makes her sweeps MUCH more manageable, and is the most consistent way to get a Surspike, which is needed for a lot of the armor and seems to be unreliable as a reward. Breaking her head makes her take a good bit more damage from attacks and stops a lot of the bouncing. Don't be afraid to use a shock trap to help cut the tail and a pitfall trap to attack the head, though you can only rely on those about 2x each at most. Her tail has a LOT of hp, but once it's off you'll have an easier time.

Also make sure Fire Res is over 23 to prevent fireblight

Re: Soapbox: The Outer Worlds Highlights Just How Far Fallout Has Fallen

Cloud7794

@Porco The thing is: Fallout 3 and Skyrim are legitimately fun. Not amazing, and not the best of their own series, but fun nonetheless and a good enough time. Fallout 4 was barely fun, but people could still eke some enjoyment out of it. Fallout 76 is broken and unfun on purpose - by design. "It's fun with friends" can be used for literally anything, so those who had used that to defend it are just admitting the game itself is not fun.

Fallout 3 and Skyrim could be described as passable, but 76 is a cardinal sin of a game.

Re: E3 2019: Final Fantasy VII Remake's 'First Game' Will Have As Much Content as Any Mainline Final Fantasy Title

Cloud7794

@rjejr There's no bad excuse to replay FF7. Honestly I do agree that to really feel the magic of the game the side arcs are essential, but I was just speaking from a utilitarian standpoint. I've never had a playthrough of FF7 be under 99:59:59, but I know that's because I always take my time on it. I'm sure Square is integrating much of that into the main story.

Funny enough, when I look for the game length online, I commonly see something like "Main story: about 40hrs, Chocobo Breeding about 70hrs."

Re: E3 2019: Final Fantasy VII Remake's 'First Game' Will Have As Much Content as Any Mainline Final Fantasy Title

Cloud7794

@rjejr I'm talking strictly main story content. A lot that you do along the main story is actually side stuff - it's just a testament to the game design that it all fits nicely together and doesn't feel like you're completing side objectives. It's often nearly seemless. 40 hours is a normal time for it though, not that I wasn't always clocking 90+ hours anyways.

Re: E3 2019: Final Fantasy VII Remake's 'First Game' Will Have As Much Content as Any Mainline Final Fantasy Title

Cloud7794

@Cycologist Yeah this is a remake, not a remaster. They are completely reimagining it and have made it pretty clear that it's going to have its own identity.

Also from the looks of it they're using FF7's story as a base and building on it much more. The next games shouldn't take as long though as all the systems involved will have already been created. At least I hope that's the case - you never know with SE.

Re: Reaction: Sony Bailed on E3 2019, And Took Gameplay Demos with It

Cloud7794

@BAMozzy I can easily understand why, all I'm saying is that was the wrong route to take. Now that the Nintendo Direct has passed, I can point to that as an example. I preferred the stuff Square Enix showed off, but Nintendo's presentation was easily the best this E3. A lot of games were shown, and a lot of gameplay.

Re: Reaction: Sony Bailed on E3 2019, And Took Gameplay Demos with It

Cloud7794

@BAMozzy The thing is, although this is a Sony-centered site, the majority are nor Sony-only. Most people here dip into Nintendo as well, and a few do buy into Microsoft's consoles. Honestly I don't think MS would have been criticized in the slightest if they showed off more gameplay: in fact I'd probably be reading an article along the lines of "Reaction: MS took full advantage of Sony's absence at E3" had they shown extended gameplay each of Halo, Gears, and maybe 1 or 2 more 3rd-party games they could heavily affiliate with their console - like what Sony did with Destiny years ago.

There are people here who just rag on MS because "YEAH SONY WOOO!!!", but I don't feel like that is what's happening here. We've been long ragging on companies for showing no gameplay for their games, including Sony at times. Knowing a game is coming with a CG trailer is definitely hype, but ultimately we always do ask "Okay but how does it play?"

I want MS to step up. I'm extremely upset with their performance this generation because - although I don't own an Xbox - they're the ones competing with Sony. Without someone keeping them at least a little humble, they may repeat the mistakes they sometimes make when they feel secure as the leading platform for console gaming. It's also why I hope Google makes Stadia work out, though I don't have high hopes for it.

Re: E3 2019: Final Fantasy VII Remake Release Date Is March 2020

Cloud7794

@Porco @rjejr They may prove me wrong, but I believe I'm far from making "a lot of assumptions," in fact I'm using specific wording from the interview. "It will essentially be a full scale game for each part of the multi-part series [...] if we're just looking at each of these parts, one part should be on par with the scale of one Final Fantasy XIII game," - producer Yoshinori Kitase.

It's been a few years but here's an article from this website on the matter: https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2016/04/final_fantasy_viis_ps4_episodes_will_be_full_games

Will Square Enix disappoint us? Honestly, probably. But I'm just taking them at their word.

This isn't the same game - sure, it's a retelling, but also a reimagining altogether. It seems they want to give it a much higher scale. I apologize though as I probably should have just led with my source.

Re: E3 2019: Final Fantasy VII Remake Release Date Is March 2020

Cloud7794

@rjejr @Porco Square have stated before that they plan to release it as multiple, full-length RPGs. "Full-length" should imply 40+ hours of RPG per "episode." It sounds like it's more going to be "sequels" instead of what we traditionally know as "episodes."

In a way, it sounds like it'd be similar to stating that we're entitled to every sequel that releases after a game for free, since it's all part of the same story.

Re: Rumour: PS5 Is More Powerful Than Project Scarlett

Cloud7794

@thatguyEZ Really sad half the comment section is just either people complaining that you brought up the possibility of getting an Xbox or claiming that you need a meeting with Chris Hansen.

On topic though, I'm split on consoles becoming so similar. Some of what made them special somewhat feels gone, even if this move is better technically for the developers and for the consumers since games are easier to make and port because of it. I am glad to see that consoles can rival computers again though, as the PS4 was just strong enough to be good competition specs-wise, the PS5 is seeming to be much stronger competition if the price is right.

Re: Rumour: Oh God, Dragon Ball FighterZ Is Getting Another Goku as DLC

Cloud7794

Even despite the numerous Goku's, honestly I don't understand why you there are so many Saiyans in DBFZ, especially since they're pulling from Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super. Where's Roshi? Toppo? Hercule / Mr. Satan? Tapion? Janemba? Even Chichi, Ox King, or Bulma in a mech. Someone different from another Saiyan, which seems to be at least half the cast.

Something Arc System Works has always had special about their games was a diverse cast of characters, personalities, and backgrounds to play as. DBFZ is missing that diversity, has many similar or outright same characters, and doesn't use the richness of the source material to its advantage. Some of the same characters do have different game plans, but honestly they even often share the same normals.

I have to believe it's Bandai Namco calling the shots when it comes to such disappointing choices.

Re: Battlefield V's Release Schedule Is So Ridiculous There's Now a Guide

Cloud7794

Gotta love that they're so set on releasing before Black Friday/the holiday season to literally release the game unfinished.

Street Fighter did a similar thing with the story mode for 5, but that at least made a bit more sense: releasing the multiplayer portion for people to have more time to practice before EVO. The game may not have been "complete" at launch, but they did it for their most hardcore fans to have more fighting time.

I guess I should have expected EA to pump out a ludicrous scheme to grab more money in light of not having DLC.

Re: Minecraft's Better Together Update Could Yet Come to PS4

Cloud7794

@AlexSora89 Your comments can be just a tad inflammatory, don't you think?

But to address the actual content of your comments (and keep in mind I generally advocate for cross-play, not against), there are downsides to cross-play being the norm. Developers charging for access to their servers is an obvious one. It could just be for cross-play servers, or even for all. $10 extra a month to level up your gaming experience with Activision Pro is a very obvious step to take. If you don't believe that companies would do that just take a look at PS3 online passes to see how they handled pre-owned games.

It also puts a hard bar to potential competition. If a new console were to come around, why should the big 3 cross-play with it? If they don't, it dies instantly because no one will buy third-party games on it. I understand this one is minor but it's definitely a point.

Lastly I'll state bugs. This one is also developer specific (looking especially at you Bethesda), but bugs in games tend to be different console-to-console. With cross-play, that just gets exacerbated. The people on switch bring their invisible character glitch, PS4 with an infinite reload animation, and Xbox players are falling through the floor. Patches tend to come slow with many devs, and now they potentially have 3x as much to fix before any community is happy. Adding mods into the mix however make that problem exponentially larger.

Like I said, I'm for cross-play, but its introduction does add a lot of uncertainty and room for developers to really let players down. Although I think it's a good thing, it is definitely not all sunshine and rainbows, and it's understandable that some people would be leery of it.

Re: Sony Confident of Cross-Console Play Solution

Cloud7794

Glad to see Sony recognizing the problem officially and not just giving a non-answer to the question. I think having to link a PSN account is fair from a business standpoint (though not having to shell out for PS+ on a separate console), as long as another Fortnite-like issue doesn't arise. Of course there are other options as well.

Very, very glad that they actually admitted that it's an existing issue, even though their legal team probably asked them to bury their heads in the sand until it blew over initially.

Re: Talking Point: How Much Does Cross-Play Matter to You?

Cloud7794

@LuckyLand I'm not saying Nintendo is doing anything perfect, but with the Switch being so strong in the market at the moment it only stands to gain from Sony's negative press.

@naruball true, I don't have every instance with every user for what I said. I do, however, lurk on here very often and really stay for the comments, so I'm constantly reading people's viewpoints on here. With that in mind, the general landscape is basically what I said, though I've of course not kept track of whether each commentor is the same.

Re: Talking Point: How Much Does Cross-Play Matter to You?

Cloud7794

A lot of people here have the "it doesn't affect me so I don't see why anyone else cares" mentality here. Normally I'll support Sony's business decisions, but they're dropping the ball hard here. Let's not forget that cross-play actually mattered quite a bit at the beginning of this gen, when you couldn't play Destiny between PS3 and PS4.

We as fans flip-flop too much on what we expect and want from the company. I cannot tell you how many times I saw comments of "who wants to play old games?" and "why care about last gen's games on current gen consoles?" when Xbox announced backwards compatibility, but then go crazy when their favorite games get remastered or even just ported over to PS4. "I loved this game growing up, can't wait to play it again!" When things like Dark Chronicle or even Journey came to PS4. Tunes change when it's relevant to your own interests, eh?

This is important because it sets a strong tone going into next gen, and being the only platform not supporting cross-platform play will be an active detriment. Consider that many people do the "+Nintendo" strategy (especially with how well the Switch is currently doing) where you tend to have a Sony/MS console and a Nintendo one. "Service" games like Fortnite, team-play multiplayer games, and even From Softwares Souls-formula games will be best played on Nintendo's console because most of your friends will have it come next gen. Nintendo is the big winner out of cross-platform gaming fiasco, and PS5 might be the big loser with all the negative press involved: just look at PS3's launch. And Xbox One still hasn't recovered from its woes from the beginning of the gen.

Re: Guide: Why Doesn't Sony Allow Cross-Play on PS4?

Cloud7794

@daveofduncan They're largely taking care of us, however they still do some blatently anti-consumer things even if you want to give them every last ounce of your benefit of the doubt. Mods being gimped is a big one, for example. They like to make things proprietary to try to force others to bend to them. It's what made the PS3 so hard to code for, and what made the Vita's memory card so expensive.

I love Sony's games and consoles, buy a lot of what they do grates on me heavily. As a fan I don't have any problem calling them out when I think they're making a bad call. Will my disapproval change their mind? No. That won't make me like those decisions any better though.

Re: Guide: Why Doesn't Sony Allow Cross-Play on PS4?

Cloud7794

The biggest problem with Fortnite is that the users actively cannot use their accounts - which are not Sony owned - to play on another console when the set precedent so far was that the account basically transferred. Seeing as I'm not techy enough to know the specifics of it though, I'll refrain from saying more on that. One thing I'm 100% sure about though is that it's a Sony problem, as from a business position Epic would have let people know the account would be locked to PS4 to prevent backlash, so the most likely conclusion is that Sony implemented that on their own.

I believe from a consumer, PR, and logical standpoint: Sony should allow cross-console play. This late in the generation, people already know what games they want to play, on what console, and whet they won't be able to play by choosing another console. PS4 is already in the lead, and this kind of negative press only hurts the Sony and eventually sales of the PS5.

Let's not forget that Sony's whole campaign platform for PS4 was that it was geared to what the players want, and they won't be able to use that line for next gen at this rate. They got very cocky when the PS2 did so well and then the PS3 started so poorly they had to give a public apology. I hope that the launch of PS5 isn't so wrought with their PS3 mindset.

Re: Review: BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle (PS4)

Cloud7794

Although I don't like the whole DLC character debacle, at least this is the first ASW get I've seen where the dlc characters are actually not atrociously priced. The bundle for all 20 characters is 19.99 if I remember correctly, compared to the previous Blazblue price point of 7.99 per character.

I do still agree that it's needlessly controversial though, enough to where I decided similarly to everyone else and am skipping it on release. If that's all it is though, I almost definitely will pick it up down the line.

Re: No Man's Sky NEXT is the Game's 'Largest Update So Far', Coming This Summer

Cloud7794

Lack of multiplayer was the number one reason I never bought this game and at this point never will. Even if they add it in, my hype for it died long ago. The primary reason I wanted it was for that, because honestly the game seemed it would be boring otherwise.

Couple that with how they released the game and then went completely silent and purposed to not explain themselves, I won't be giving it a chance in its current iteration. Some people enjoyed it and that's fine, but being lied to really puts me off.
