This is a microtransaction structure I can actually get behind. I love the crossover stuff, just hope they eventually let you be Asura in all his angry glory 😂
@naruball I doubt the non-sjw's are the ones complaining that the face he makes is offensive.
I for one am really anticipating this. Catherine was honestly one of my favorite games on PS3 and even if it never gets a true sequel, I'm glad Atlus is doing more with it. I just hope it doesn't lose sales because of bad publicity.
@Nygiantz17 I know I'm nitpicking your use of "anytime" and "always," but I will say with 100% confidence that the Disgaea games were much better on Vita than PS3
On the one hand, people are too easily triggered, but on the other: people should be informed when about to be shown disturbing imagery. I think many people here are purposefully missing the actual point others here are trying to make.
There is nothing wrong with mature content in games. There is a label on the back that says who the game is for and generally what you're to be expecting. There is, however, something wrong with having it pop up with no warning. If I sit down and pull up a Youtube video with some adult language in it, I don't want an unskippable ad to pop up of a digital child getting beaten, or women getting bludgeoned. When I load up The Last of Us though, I know what I'm getting into, and I'm fine with it.
Bethesda makes good games but they are so anti-consumer. They also seem to have as much pride as squeenix had mid 2000's. We'll see how it works out for them.
The Push Square team as a whole though, as always very respectful to your readers. By far the best site for PS reviews, information, and opinion pieces. That's not to mention the community being miles more bearable than the internet norm.
A lot of good news, some meh news, but no real bad news then. The only real disappointment then is the limitation in bethesda mods, but it's still better news than the old news of zero mods.
Speaking of which, the more I think of it the more I find that the fault is most likely with bethesda than with Sony. Farming Sim 17 has full ps4 mod support WITH external assets, after all.
They were definitely kinda sorta gonna do some kind of "ps4 slim available NOW" reveal during the playstation meeting. It's the only way I can see this being so prevalent and already being sold before it's even announced.
In Sony's (kinda) defense, the threat of piracy can cost them far more than those few million. Not even from the pirates themselves, but from developers. Compare the PSP to the Vita. If it picked up, Dev's may have been very wary to support PS4.
Still a stupid move to include the feature in the first place, but PS3-Launch-Sony had some truly stupid ideas at times.
When I worked for pizza hut, people would sometimes ask which box the pizza was in when I delivered. A massive pizza box and a small breadstick box apparently don't make it easy enough to tell the difference. "What's the difference between sausage and pepperoni?" was also common. People can be denser than lead.
Would love to be able to use one of those armors in-game. I feel it'd be silly to take down a boss as tall as a building by repeatedly slashing at its tail/hull/other regions with a tiny sword or fists after all.
@Anchorsam_9 Might be a good year for Indies, but I'd say it's not the "year of the Indies" as much as it is "the year all those freaking games finally come out." The division, Final fantasy 15, Persona 5, Uncharted 4, Naruto UNS 4 (NUNS 4 in my group of friends), dark souls 3, just about any other title that made it on Pushsquare's other lists: nearly all these games were releases pushed back to 2016. Glad some are finally being finished.
Either that or "year of the Japanese games." Indies will largely fall by the wayside for me this year with all those games coming out.
PS2: Tales of the Abyss with my wife
PS4: FF7 and watching One Punch Man
Just got married last weekend which why I largely disappeared for a few months, but now that it's calmed down, it's time to start bringing her up to speed on some of my favorite games
@Mrskinner I really hope Sony does, I fear they may be getting complacent with being top dog and with MS fighting an uphill battle they may take the lead trying to catch up.
I have high hopes for this E3 but only because it'll show us whether Sony is really gonna try to wow us this year.
I read "play blitzball... PS4" and got so excited, I thought a stand-alone blitzball game was coming to PS4.
I don't care what anyone says, I sank more hours into blitzball than the main game. Oh well, I'll wait patiently for it to happen (as well as a Triple Triad game, FF8's card game was the best). http://static.fjcdn.com/pictures/Blitzball_a8fa9b_2512927.jpg
The best part of this patch is that anyone you're playing locally with can now have access to your dlc. It sucked buying DLC on my main account and my younger brother not being able to use any of the cool new weapons even though he was sitting right there next to me.
@mitcHELLspawn I didn't, I just passed him. Seeing as how you can actually assist some npcs who are otherwise hostile/neutral to you, I want to see if I can somehow make him friendly before killing him. One of my friends the black church armor set might work but he still shoots at me.
@ApostateMage eww FFXII jk but in all honesty XII had my least favorite lead in the series, Vaan contributed nothing good to the game (though I didn't quite like lightning as a lead either) <.< the systems were quite good though, and the setting was very well done even if the story was somewhat lacking.
I feel though that 15 is going in a very good direction. The VA might not be the best at the moment but let's never forget the Destiny alpha lol
Like the cleric beast, it's pretty easy if you take a second to check its reach and which attacks combo from each other, then dodge toward it during the final attack of its combo and get some hits in. Fire paper is a good choice if you're using a faster attacking weapon, and I believe the black church set gives a higher resistance to poison.
@get2sammyb Yeah with Persona 4 Golden, although the TV dungeons might not be the most grounded thing, the game's day-to-day model works in its favor. In a two week period (in-game of course), I always found myself dungeon-crawling for only about 2 days in that time frame, and even then you're still forced to go to school during those days.
Though a game I feel would hit just about every checkpoint in this soapbox would be Bully.
Persona 4 arena and Ultimax did it right. Both are amazing fighting games that are also pretty easy for any normal person to pick up and play a few rounds (since all they have to do is exactly this site's name). Not only does the square auto-combo let them pull off relatively safe, sufficient combos, it was given other mechanics to still be a viable use at higher level play. I can't really yet wrap my head around how a non-fighting game would do this.
If at LEAST TLOU: Remastered, Battlefield 4 premium, Diablo 3, and Driveclub aren't all simultaneously free for plus next month, people are going to be unhappy with its "complete lack of value"
Well I still feel the PS4 is more worth having than the Wii U at this point. The only games I'm sad to be missing out on at the moment are Smash, Monster Hunter, and... well nothing else comes to mind really. And Smash would set me back way too much money from the get-go (console + game + 4 "wii-u approved" gamecube controllers). Then the Wii U really has nothing I care for as far as 2015 is concerned.
Also I really hate Nintendo's tendencies to give statistics based on self-purposing timelines, then claiming it's just fact. I remember when 2 months after Wii U came out, they claimed to have more HD games than PS4 and X1. Obviously since they were out a year earlier, shouldn't they?
@Cowboysfan-22 These are a bit more difficult than the Arena games, but the fighting just feels so right and brutal. I adore the P4U games, but it always seemed to miss that feel of power Blazblue fighting gave.
@Hero-of-WiiU "Bloodborne Ratchet & Clank Uncharted 4: A Thief's End MLB 15: The Show"
Honestly those four alone could carry PS4 for most of next year even if every other title flopped. You're right about one thing though: undoubtedly some of the titles listed will be less than enjoyable.
@rastamadeus Honestly it seems to have enough going for it to be a viable port. All DLC + enhanced graphics + new modes + rebalancing + not full price.
Will I get it? Maybe when the price drops. But I can see why people would be excited somewhat.
@SuperSilverback I personally enjoyed Clash of Ninja Revolution 3 more than any of the Storm series, though revolution seemed to bring it to par. If they improve on this one, it might be the first one I buy at launch.
I don't really consider Nintendo anyone's competitor. Sure they're in the same industry, but it seems Nintendo is just an industry constant at the moment. Eventually most people buy a Nintendo console, just what other console will they get as well?
I feel like I'm one of the few people not completely angered over the Final Fantasy 7 announcement. I feel it's not a bad move, and it doesn't "confirm" that 7 won't be getting a remake. Nor does it mean we can't push a bit for them to add a bit more before releasing (don't feel it's necessary so much but if that's what people want).
Final Fantasy VII without a doubt (though VIII is a close second). It just did most everything very well. To me, Final Fantasy is about 3 things: the world, the story, and characters. Final Fantasy VII had a grand world with an equally grand story and a great cast to accompany it. VIII did an awesome story with an also awesome cast, but the world was so bland it left a lot wanting. If VIII had a world as intriguing as XII (which had neither interesting main characters nor story but probably one of the best worlds in the series), it may have been as good as VII.
Final Fantasy Tactics also hits my all-time list, but since I first experienced it on PSP I don't know if it counts. Up there with VII in my book.
@Ginkgo @get2sammyb I translated this by ear: "20 years is a lot of time. Look around you and see everything you've obtained and done. You've ruled countless places. You've conquered and liberated. You've constructed and destroyed. You've been the light in the darkness. However, this time is different; this time, it's for real. For the first time your actions have real consequences. They need your help, and I know that you can hear them. The power to change everything is in your hands."
It seems to be talking about the birth of playstation by the "20 years" part, followed by the next few lines that talk about obvious video game objectives. "No Game" is probably right, most likely something else.
@get2sammyb About the plot, it can really be generic and seem stale if you take it on its own, but the characters have enough personality to make the experience fresh. The battle system really keeps me picking up the game though.
Also for anyone wondering why the translation can seem a bit off at times (like how Shing's name is now inexplicably Kor), you can probably blame Gamestop partially since they assisted in the translation in order to be the only retailer with a physical copy available.
@Enobmah_Shards I am part of one as well, but, though many Halloween activities are discouraged for multiple reasons, we still do something for the day (usually some sort of "Harvest Festival" with a bunch of activities for kids and adults). Christmas is celebrated largely the same as everyone else, though with events and plays that are more centered on the gospels. Rarely ever heard of anyone just not celebrating either of them.
Playing through Final Fantasy 7, there's a part in the Temple of Ancients where you're watching Sephiroth, but through a pool that lets you see the past. Then, out of nowhere, he looks straight at your party and fazes into the ephemeral plane your party is watching him from. When my fiancee reached that part of the game, she called me, audibly crying and completely distraught.
**Major Persona 3 Spoilers Follow**
For myself, I always found time to play Persona 3 at night back in high school, and at the end of the game your main character is constantly tired the final few days after the last boss and just falls asleep one day, but just dies in his sleep inexplicably one of those days. I don't know why but the really messed with my head, it seemed more real and traumatizing to see that happen than any other game I've played.

Scratch the collection and add Dissidia. Sounds a bit more reasonable

If we're getting another MvC then we gotta petition capcom to add Asura (and all the relevant wrath that comes with him of course)

Playing through Tales of Graces F with my wife, and Smite when she's busy.

Final Fantasy VII without a doubt (though VIII is a close second). It just did most everything very well. To me, Final Fantasy is about 3 things: the world, the story, and characters.
