For the review to hit a week before release, it means that Sony and ND are very confident that the game is great, or even excellent. It happened with God of War.
@get2sammyb The last deep dive that Sony did, everyone and their dog complaint about it. The only thing left for Sony is revealing the console and price. That's it.
Great start. It will continue to climb, even with divisive nature (that is being amplified by the internet discourse), the game is great and should be played. And of course, the majority of people that buy games, never finish it.
@ShogunRok What is considered a spoiler? If you consider any information presented without context, then you can't watch or read anything because it's going to reveal something. In the trailer, you refer Rufus was spoiled, but how? He is not called by name, and there is no context of who he is or what is his motivation other that we are going to fight him. Only people that played FFVII know who he is. Zack is only identifiable if you have play FFVII Crisis Core and notice that Zack carries the Bustersword in his back with the edge down.
In my opinion, the trailer doesn't spoil for players who never played FFVII.
@FullbringIchigo I think the COVID 19 situation is one of the big factors to Sony being quiet. Having a full blowout of information for PS5, when people are more interested and worried about the virus, is going to be lost in the sea of news. I understand that media outlets like Push Square would like to have information to publish and write about. But the truth is, the world now in state of emergency.
@get2sammyb We might consider that games could also be hit by delays. Entire teams of developers could be sent home, and even working from home, it's a situation that will affect the development of games.
@FullbringIchigo I can't remember were I read or listen, but if there is a FF X-3, it is not a full adaptation of the -Will- audio drama or the novel X-2.5. They may pick some ideas from those stories.
@Cybrshrk Remember that initiatives like Smart delivery and Cross-buy are opt-in for publishers. Neither Microsoft or Sony can force publisher to use this initiatives (I think!). What you say about The Last of Us, can be said for GTA V. It didn't happen because the publishers didn't want to.
What confuse me is that smart delivery is being seen as a new thing when things like cross-buy already exist. Even in Microsoft, isn't the Play Anywhere initiative the same?
The people and media really are hooked up in this HYPE thing. Must be a new recreational drug.
First, it's not the end of consoles. The end of consoles will come when streaming is viable. Second, I think there is a strategy here at work, and it has to do with the Decima engine. It possible that Sony want to position the engine as a way to attract developers to the PS environment, with the option to release later on PC.
This offering is actually very good for people that got a PS4 for Christmas.
I understand that people that subscribe PS+ for years are disappointed, but we cannot forget that there is always newcomers to the PS4 (even in the eve of PS5 launch).
@OneManDroid In this case, it make sense to remaster Nier, because the game is only available for XBox 360 and PS3 in physical format. There is no digital format for this game.
One thing I see this generation is many of the games release first on PS4, but without any exclusivity deal (at least that we know): Nier: Automata, Ni-Oh and even the latest Yakuza games were on PS4 first. I think the strategy in many of this games were to development on the console with biggest player base, and later port the game to other platforms. After all, even with similar architectures, developing for two consoles at the same time requires more resources.
Don't know why, but Sony relationship with Death Stranding reminds me of the relationship Sony had with No Man Sky. While Sony has put money and resources into the game, they seem to be distant from the game.
It seems the sudden change of PES2019 for Detroit has more to do with Sony and EA relationship (sponsorship and the launch of EA Access). Giving a game that would compete directly with FIFA19 would make much sense.
@deepspace5d That's why I would prefer more and better discounts as something to add value to the subscription. While one more game would give the illusion of more value, for me, that not adding value, is just one more game I won't play.
After all, the total value of the games offered in July is 49€.
PS Now is not going to be added to PS+ because PS Now is treated as a different platform (you don't need PS+ to play multiplayer games in PS Now, for example).
@TuckNorris85 @deepspace5d Offering a PSVR game is not going to placate the backlash. Remember the Days of play that was almost all VR titles? People were complaining.
Also, the money is also for infrastructure, and making PSN more stable is great.
With the launch of PS5 we could see a rise of the number of games offered in IGC.
@Rob_230 I think Sony was shrewd to move the release date for quieter time, allowing for Days Gone to be on top of the selling charts. I saw in Gematsu that Days Gone repeated #1 spot for a second week in Japan.
It's an impossible situation. Even if you give another game, if it's not big budget AAA, is going to be criticized. About the increase of the price of the yearly subscription, I think it brought a more stable network and other perks like a bigger discount in some sales.

Once I confirmed that the japanese voice actor for Jin is Kazuya Nakai, who plays Roronoa Zorro in One Piece, I will only play in Japanese.

If we are talking about critical acclaim game like GoW or RDR2, 2019 doesn't have one. But there were various great games over the year.
