Normally the games are pretty decent in the build up to Christmas....... I guess Sony didn't get the Memo this year

On a serious note though, although there's absolutely nothing there of interest to me personally I fully appreciate that it's all subjective.

Not everyone has the same tastes in video games and just because I don't like them doesn't mean everybody else won't

I'm pretty sure mine expires on Monday or Tuesday next week. Once expired would I be technically classed as a new customer?

£75 for extra isn't bad but then for the sake of an extra £9 it's probably worth it for Premium again

I've never used remote play.

However I'm firmly in the "I would like to get one camp" but I'm just concerned as to how well the thing will actually work.

I don't want to say it's over priced but I do think it's expensive for what it is..... If ever they go on sale and they are £150 or better still slightly less then I'll probably bite and get one

I agree 100% that Forza is better than Gran Turismo Forza was basically the reason I bought an Xbox..

Trouble was once I was done with that I just found myself going back to Playstation all the time

You could say the same thing about Sky TV and Virgin Media

Essentially they both show the same TV channels but the user interface is completely different

I've had Sky for 18 years and when I go to a friend or relatives house who have Virgin I just can't take to it, the whole thing seems wrong to me.

I know that's a bit if a strange way of analyzing it but that's how I feel about Xbox compared to Playstation

I think a lot of people (myself included) just like to flex and be able to tell people they own the next big thing.

On a serious note though, it is literally the best console I've ever owned, much faster load times, haptic feedback controls etc, my only gripe is the fact were still getting cross gen game releases which kind of validates your point about not needing to upgrade.

In my opinion Cross Gen releases should have stopped after roughly 6 months which would given people the incentive to upgrade.

I sold it to gullible friend who didn't know any better.

I took a big loss letting it go for £250 but I figured that was better than it just allowing it to gathering dust. Also I know he'll take good care of it,

I'm not completely heartless and would never have seen it go out onto the streets having to sleep rough

Xbox is crap, I'm not being a fanboy, I say that as someone who owned both PS5 and a Series X (and also a Switch)

Mine expires middle of next week, there's not a single game on that list that's convincing me to renew at this point.

Last year I got 12 months Premium for around £63 in the black Friday sale (and an Amazon loop hole).

It would take a simelar deal to get me to renew again

I was genuinely interested in getting one but this review has confirmed some of the fears I had over how well it works outside of the house.

I had one on pre order and cancelled it last week and I'm kind of glad now that I did.

I may consider one in the future if ever the price drops on its on sale

One major selling point for me is that you won't need to purchase any games for it thus reducing the overall expense.

No don't worry I completely agree.

I was just playing devil's advocate and pointing out that when PS5 and Switch are knocking out 15 - 20 million units more or less every year, then by comparison that may make it look like a failure in the eyes of some people

It wasn't me that said it and I agree that to say it's failed is maybe a bit harsh. It's a pretty expensive and niche product.

But on the flip side it currently sits just short of 3.5 million worldwide sale so it's hardly setting the world alight either is it.

I know it's not quite the same but if the PS5 or Nintendo switch had only sold that amount after almost 2 years on the market then they would be seen as a failure so I can kind of see both sides of the argument.

Sorry but thats incorrect.

You don't need to be near your PS5 at all. As long as you have stable WiFi at each end, in theory you could use it on the other side of the world

All because their uneducated parents don't have a clue what they're actually buying.

As long as you have decent WiFi at home (where your PS5 is) and obviously wherever you happen to be then yes it will work.

I'm under the impression your PS5 has to be in sleep mode and then in theory The Portal can wake it up from anywhere in the world (again as long as your connected to WiFi)

That's the idea at least, as I've mentioned previously, I'm waiting to see how well it works in reality before committing to buying one

In other words I'm waiting to read some reviews once it's out in the wild with real customers

I won't even be buying a PS5 Pro if / when that releases so definitely won't be getting one of these.

The only way may stance would change is if my OG PS5 decides to break

I foolishly did upgrade to from A PS4 to a Pro and it felt like a complete waste of time with the exception of double the storage space

In that case let's just agree to say that whilst it is technically an upgrade.... it's most certainly not a worthwhile upgrade if you already own the OG model

I know you can't, you have to move them from the hard drive to the PS5 but it doesn't take long to do that and its a hell of a lot quicker than having to redownload a game when you want to play it

I genuinely appreciate your in depth reply but if I'm honest, alot of the language you've used is what scares me away from PC gaming. I wouldn't have a clue how to go about upgrading parts etc.

I did recently treat myself to a Samsung Oddesy gaming monitor to play my PS5 on and I get stressed enough with that trying to find the right settings that I need 🤣 (I think I'm just about there with it now)

For what it's worth though I do agree about the PS Portal being over priced. As I mentioned in my first post I do want one but didn't really want to pay quite so much for it.

Sometimes though, if it's something you really want you just have to bite the bullet and buy it, life's to short and you can't take your money with you so just enjoy it.

In fairness mate I hate PC gaming and a Steam Deck is basically an extension of that so I wouldn't have one even if it was given too me for free haha 🤣

I prefer to be able to buy a game knowing I can put it in my console and play it without stressing over tinkering around with settings to make it work or being worried if it has enough ROM or RAM etc.

I'm all for simplicity so even though it does very little as you say, that actually suits me just fine and is good a selling point

In theory you can actually play it anywhere.

If you're out of the house you can use your mobile phone as a hotspot and use your phones data to play it.

How well that works in reality remains to be seen but in theory it is possible

I'm hoping that because the Portal will be Streaming directly from My PS5 rather than from Sonys servers it will provide a better experience.

We do have decent internet at home but I'd still prefer to wait for some real world reviews before I commit myself

I'm still completely on the fence with this one.

I really wanted one but didn't really want to pay £200 for it (I was hoping it would start at around £149)

But then I thought what the heck, it's only an extra £50, just treat yourself, so I pre ordered one.

Then a few days ago I was streaming a game on my PS5 and it wat glitchy as hell and almost unplayable at times which put me off so I've cancelled my Pre order.

I've decided to wait for a few real world reviews to see how well it actually works before getting one

I have Premium and it expires in about 12 days time.

Unless there's a massive black Friday sale that I'd be an idiot to ignore I think I'm going to let it lapse.

Or at the very least I'm going to drop down a tier (or 2)

That's a fair point.

Another thing to consider though is that this game isn't releasing today it will likely be towards the end of next year.

It's not out of the question that PS5 will have another 25 - 30 million sales under its belt by that point.

I don't mean to sound argumentative and obviously my Nintendo Wii user base reference was a joke but as a day one PS5 owner it really really annoyed me when they kept releasing games as cross gen.

I could understand it maybe for the first 6 months or so but we're 3 years down the line now and and it has to stop.

I didn't spend all that money on a PS5 to play games that I could have played on my PS4

I personally don't buy into that too big of a user base to ignore argument anymore. It was valid when the PS5 first launched but by now most PS4 owners will have either upgraded or simply don't use their PS4 anymore.

There are over 101 million Nintendo Wii's out there in the wild...... why not release GTA 6 on that???

If they do release it on both I'm sorry but I simply won't buy it just on principal.

I know Push Square is a playstation focused website but I find it rather rude and insulting that the whole article fails to give any credit or even acknowledge the Fact that Super Mario Wonder has secured a 2nd successive week at number 1

Obviously everyones taste in games will be different so it always subjective but since the price rise it seems the games have been getting worse month by month (in my opinion at least)

My PS plus is due for renewal at the end of the month and if it wasn't for the fact I'd lose access to all my other games that I've claimed I'd seriously consider letting it lapse.

Can't wait to delete my PS4 version, then download this one and not even notice the difference 😂

You're probably right, the last time I looked into it properly it was probably about 20 - 25% of the 360 discs will work on a Series X (I don't know about the original Xbox)

Regardless of the exact numbers though it's still an awful lot better than what Playstation currently offers us in terms of backwards compatibility would you not agree??

My post was more of a complaint about getting access to playing older PS1 and PS2 games without original hardware.

I appreciate what you're saying though, in 25 years or so the games of today will be in the same situation.

Especially as most modern games require some sort of update or patch to work properly.

Once the servers are shut down alot of the games we play today will become useless unless they're already installed and upto date.

Ironically Sony are probably the worst for it.

Xbox is pretty much fully backwards compatible with all previous Xbox games (I know there are some exceptions)

Nintendo offers most of their big hitting classics through the NSO online expansion

Sony in comparison give us virtually nothing, PS plus premium has been going for more or less 2 years now and we're still waiting for most of the "Classic" games to make an appearance

Would it really have been that difficult to make PS1 & PS2 discs work on the PS5 from the start?

It hasn't technically effected me yet as my current Premium membership runs till the end of November.

I'll see what the Black Friday sales have to offer me but if there aren't any good deals I'll probably drop down from Premium to extra
