Currently there is no way to purchase it, however if you subscribe to PS Plus Premium tier you can download it and play it for as long as your Premium subscription is still active.
There are plenty of classic games that do allow you to purchase them without a subscription so it may well change in the future, but for the time being at least it isn't possible to purchase it
I hear all of that and absolutely take on board all of your well made points.
However I'll stand by my original point that I'll simply never understand why anyone (not necessarily yourself but just anyone) would skip a game that they like just because it doesn't have trophies.....
It almost smacks of cutting off your nose to spite your face as the saying goes lol
You probably won't remember but we've actually already had this same discussion a few months ago.... So at the risk of us simply going around in circles I think it's best that we just respectfully disagree on the matter and move on with our lives 😂
I don't see a major issue with it myself as long as the base prices stick to around the £65 - £70 mark on the "official" release date
If people want to pay a bit more to play sooner then that's completely upto them
I won't lose any sleep either way
Thinking about it, it's very rare that I actually buy a game on launch day. Super Mario Wonder was probably the last one and that was this time last year
It's not about separating them, it doesn't have to be one or the other.
My point is that a good game can still be enjoyed regardless of it having trophy support (or not)
Its the flat out refusal to play the thing that I just get my head around.
If it's a game you really like and have fond memories of it, why deny yourself the pleasure of playing it again just because it doesn't have a few trophies to collect lol
Btw I should add that when I say a game you really like, I don't specifically mean you personally, I'm talking about people in general 😂
Locking it behind a Premium pay wall, with no option to purchase individually seems like a silly move.
But not having trophies is a complete none issue.
Some of the best games I've ever played don't have trophies and I'm perfectly happy with them the way they are.
Are they a nice addition to a game? Yes of course.
But why anyone would refuse to play a classic game (if they genuinely love it) just because it hasn't been upgraded with trophy support just blows my mind.
Just another reason for me to drop to Essential when my current plan expires.
Not because I'm particularly bothered about any of these games leaving...... More so that these articles just serve to remind me that I never actually play any of the games on offer anyway.... or very rarely
I hate all this pre ordering online crap we have to deal with these days.
I miss the days when I used to go be able into Game or HMV and put my name down on a list with a £20 deposit to secure whatever the latest console was.
At least then it would stop the scalpers and limit the orders to just one person customer.
Admittedly it wouldn't stop people ordering from multiple different stores / retailers but it still somehow felt a much fairer system
As I said in my other post, if we all loved the same games then world and in particular these message boards would be a pretty boring place (if everyone just agreed with each other all the time)
Personally I found the camera in Mario Galaxy to be perfectly serviceable.
Mario Sunshine on the other hand, totally different ball game, the camera on that was dreadful. I'm not sure if they fixed it when it was re-released for the Mario 3D Allstars trilogy but the OG GameCube version was awful.
Far too many leaps of faith due to poor camera control
Nothing on that list that particularly jumps out at me. If I'm honest I barely ever play any of them. Could certainly count on one hand the ones I've played in 2024
I only have Extra because it was on sale at the time when I renewed and I got it pretty much for the price of a years Essential subscription so it was a no brainer.... £64 I believe it cost me so it was only an extra £4.
If I can get a similar deal when I need to renew I'd probably do the same again but if not I'm happy to drop to the Essential tier.
it was a Nice bit of kit but my internet at home (whilst being fairly decent) just couldn't handle it.
It was fine if I was home alone but as soon as someone else was at home online (my daughter playing Roblox on her iPad as an example) it made it go all glitchy and it was borderline unplayable.
I sold it after a week while it was still in high demand.
You could well be right in that the PS6 may well be further away than people think.
I honestly believe that we've almost reached a ceiling in terms of how good they can make the games look, of course there will always be improvements but they will never be night and day differences like they used to be when buying a new console.
I hope you enjoy your purchase anyway, my next purchase will be whatever Nintendo offers up next year (by the looks of it a more powerful Switch)
In the meantime I'm quite happy to slum it (joke) with my day one PS5 until the PS6 launches.
Even then I'll probably be in no major rush as I'm fairly confident that we'll see the vast majority of PS6 games released as cross gen on PS5 as well (for a good few years at least)
Personally I'd never refer to anyone as a Dumbo for buying one, people are free to spend their hard-earned money on whatever they wish. I've always been one for having to have the latest technology myself but I do honestly think that they've priced it too high this time.
I get that people will say it's an enthusiasts model and not necessarily for everyone, etc etc, but it genuinely does terrify me how much they're going to want to charge us for the PS6 which will obviously have even higher specs when the time comes.
If I remember correctly the standard PS4 launched at £350 ish..... a few years later the PS4 Pro released at around £399 and then a few more years later the PS5 released for £450. A reasonable and steady increase I think we can all agree.
This just seems like a massive jump when comparing to previous models and I'm just worried that it sets a bad president for the future.
I think given the previous trend, most people were probably expecting the PS5 Pro to be around £550 (£600 at a push)
Naa.... I did have a passing interested in one until they revealed the price.
Since then I've watched several of these side by side comparison videos and I'm honestly not just saying this to be bitter but I can barely tell any difference.
Does it make the games look a bit better? Yes it probably does..... under a forensic microscope
Is it enough to justify me spending £700 (£800 if I want a disc drive).... No thanks I'm quite happy with my OG PS5 (complete with integrated disc drive)
Like it or not, Nintendo were the first to have an X button.
Everyone else has simply copied their template..... admittedly Sony in particular have improved on it, The PS5 controller is probably my favourite controller of all time but it cannot be argued that all the modern controller lay outs owe their heritage to the Super Nintendo

Re: Dino Crisis Fans Hoodwinked as Capcom's PS1 Classic Requires Premium, Lacks Trophies

The subscription thing I fully agree with but Trophy support (or in this case lack of) would never impact my decision to play a game or not.
A good game is still a good game whether it has trophies or not
Re: Dino Crisis Fans Hoodwinked as Capcom's PS1 Classic Requires Premium, Lacks Trophies
@thefourfoldroot1
I've nothing against a game having trophy support, I fully understand the pros and cons.
I'd just never personally prioritize trophies over my actual enjoyment of a game that I love.
At the end of a day a good game is a good game and I'd be a fool to deny myself the pleasure of playing it just because it doesn't support trophies.
Just my opinion of course for what it's worth

I once got down to the last 4 which I guess is my claim to fame.
Majority of time I'm lucky if I get down to the last 50 lol

Re: PS5 30th Anniversary Orders Screwed Up by Argos in the UK

Oh dear, I bet that was absolute carnage.
A simple cash deposit could have avoided all of that
Re: PS5 30th Anniversary Orders Screwed Up by Argos in the UK
@OldGamer999
That's exactly what I'm hoping for, either that or Mario Kart 9
Although preferably both
Re: PS5 30th Anniversary Orders Screwed Up by Argos in the UK
@OldGamer999
Yeah the rumour is that it's pretty much all ready to go, just hasn't been announced yet so really no excuse for stock shortages 😂
I guess we'll have to see, I'll definitely be going all out to try to secure one anyway
Re: PS5 30th Anniversary Orders Screwed Up by Argos in the UK
@OldGamer999
I was thinking more about Nintendo's next console or looking even further ahead the PS6
I think the Pro is a pretty niche product (mainly due to its price).
Excluding the 30th anniversary editions I doubt it'll be too hard to get to get hold of one
Re: PS5 30th Anniversary Orders Screwed Up by Argos in the UK
@OldGamer999
I believe Smyth's do still let you do that, I've occasionally pre ordered a game with them and it often comes with a free gift of some sort.
Off the top of my head I remember getting a free Red Cappy hat when I collected my Super Mario Odyssey Pre order.
I doubt you'd get chance to pre order a console in there now though because they sell out their allocation so quickly online
Re: PS5 30th Anniversary Orders Screwed Up by Argos in the UK

I'd be fuming if that happened to me.
Oddly enough I did get my PS5 which was a pre order through Argos, thankfully it arrived on its release day with no issues

Personally I love Mario games, in particular the 3D ones.
If you don't though that's perfectly ok, if we all loved and enjoyed exactly the same games then the world would be a pretty boring place.
If you do enjoy this Astro Bot game though I would definitely recommend you try Super Mario Galaxy at some point.
Of all the Mario games I feel that Astro Bot draws most of its inspiration from that one

Re: PS5 Pro Prompts Sony's Disc Drive to Rocket Up the Charts
@Artois2
I guess the point I'm making is that for £700 it should come with one as standard.
The fact it's an extra £100 is quite frankly an insult
Re: PS5 Pro Prompts Sony's Disc Drive to Rocket Up the Charts
@riceNpea
Personally I would have preferred the option to buy one with a disc drive as standard rather than being forced into buying it as an "optional" extra
Re: PS5 Pro Prompts Sony's Disc Drive to Rocket Up the Charts
Flexibility would have been to offer a couple of different models.
Maybe one at £700 with a drive and then perhaps a cheaper version without.
The way they've done it feels like an insult making an already expensive product even more expensive

It came this afternoon and I've now got all the latest kits and squads.....
I'll never need to play FIFA (Sorry EA Sports FC) again 😂

Haven't played this for such a long time, it's so frustrating that I can't just delete the games stored data and start again from scratch
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 548
@riceNpea
Thank you I'll look into it.
I managed to get myself a pre owned copy of PES 2021 this afternoon.
Cost me a fair bit as they seem to be selling for silly prices but I feel it was a good investment.
It's a million times better than that Free E Football rubbish
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 548
@riceNpea
I appreciate this may not be the right place to ask..... but regarding PES 2021
Have you any idea how I can update it so that you get all the upto date kits and squads?
I should add that I don't have a PC so I'm wondering if there's maybe a pre loaded usb drive I can pick up somewhere.
If you don't know then don't worry.... just thought I'd ask
Re: Fans Appear to Be Coming Around to PS5 Pro

Funnily enough I did actually buy a PS Portal.
it was a Nice bit of kit but my internet at home (whilst being fairly decent) just couldn't handle it.
It was fine if I was home alone but as soon as someone else was at home online (my daughter playing Roblox on her iPad as an example) it made it go all glitchy and it was borderline unplayable.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 548
@riceNpea
It's madness isn't it... the game play is so good but basically just a bare bones game.
I don't mind FIFA to be honest, I think it's better than people give it credit for but this year I've just refused pay £70 for a reskin
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 548
Been trying to get into E football and attempting to give this years FC25 a miss
Re: Fans Appear to Be Coming Around to PS5 Pro
I wouldn't say I'm coming round to it, I still think it's far too expensive for what it is, and I won't be convinced otherwise.
However what I have done is to just move on and accept that it's simply not for me and that I'm probably not part of the targeted audience.
To those that have ordered one, I wish you all the best with it
