@mariomaster96 Yeah, It would be nice if it used the new controller features and stuff, but even if they did that + raytracing, that's still a tough sell considering the state of the PS4 version
Realistically, it's the price of Xbox Live that keeps me from purchasing an Xbox. There are a few exclusive (couple?) games I'd like to play, but there's no way I'm paying two subs.
That said, I'm still not happy with paying for PS+ either. Even at it's current price, I don't feel it's a good value anymore. Still stuck with it because of features like cloud save though.
Personally, I think it's worth the new asking price. I had a lot of fun the 8 or so hours it took to finish the story. If you have a friend, it's a fun coop game too.
They ABSOLUTELY need to fix the stuttering issue though. It's unplayable sometimes on harder difficulty/fights because of how bad it stutters.
@gusglez There are a lot of redeeming qualities to CP2077. Nothing excuses the state of it's release, but there's still a solid game under all that garbage. Sammy almost certainly played on PS5 which wasn't nearly as bad as PS4.
I would love to see a full production/budget Astro game. It's an unpopular opinion for sure so I'm probably 'wrong', but I still feel like this and the VR one were really just overhyped tech demos. Nothing wrong with them, but very shallow/uninteresting outside of the nostalgia/history factor.
@UltimateOtaku91 Yeah, I thought Sackboys was a much more compelling platformer. I wish the controls were as tight as Astro though.
Either way, I'm pretty sure it won't make their list. There's only 4 slots left and still some huge releases unranked. We still have Ghost Of Tsushima (likely #1 or 2), Last of Us 2 (likely #1 or 2), Demons Souls at #3, and FFVII Remake at 4.
I mean, at this point I'd rather see them 'update' the gunplay. Bugs and graphics aside, even the gameplay is pretty outdated/stiff imo. All the cool PS5 features won't fix any of that.
@theMEGAniggle that's what I mean when I say it would need a price drop. At $300-350, it seems silly to buy a Pro when a PS5 digital is $400. I understand that the difference of $50-100 isn't a small amount for a lot of people, but even if you just look at the library you automatically get when you play on PS5, it's tough to sell a Pro.
If it were $200-250 though, that's a much more compelling price for a Pro.
Somewhat makes sense given the price point. Unless they do some sort of Pro Slim and drastically lower the price a bunch, PS5 digital would be a smarter buy for a lot of consumers.
Not to mention the market is getting flooded with used ones at this point. In my area, you can find them between $150-200 easily.
Despite all the delays, I still think it was a little too early to release personally. Damned if you do, damned if you don't for CDPR though.
Regardless, it's 'early adopter' tax season still. Nothing wrong with waiting until/if it gets fixed if you aren't happy with the performance. Highlights the need for a better refund system in the PSN though.
I would gladly play at 1080/60 with fidelity mode. Was talking about this in another thread, but both existing modes are a big compromise. Fidelity looks amazing, but 30fps is 30fps. Performance mode is smooth, but the city looks extra flat/last gen without all the new fidelity features (ray tracing mostly)
@Mezzer I've switched back an forth throughout the whole story, but always decided fidelity was worth it. The city looked so much for flat in performance mode. I would love to see some 1080p/60 with fidelity options enabled. I think it also helped a ton turning off motion blur. That game looks like absolute soup with that enabled. I should also say, I'm generally on the pickier side since I'm used to 120/144hz/fps gaming from my PC. Some games just don't need 60+ imo
@Rossif3r for sure. Plenty of time to work out any issues too. I guess we might get a Witcher 3 Ps5 patch "soon" too which would give me a reason to finish it and work on the dlc
Hopefully the actual PS5 version is more optimized/compact, but that's a long shot. All signs are pointing at me waiting for the official PS5 release at this point.
I know I'm certainly "wrong" here, but it would really depend on how well quality mode is. I waited for PS5 to play Spiderman in "60fps" only to be so impressed by the graphics mode that I haven't switched back.
Granted a 3rd person button masher isn't the same as a FPS/TPS/THPS. Hard to sell even great 30fps in those.
The PS5 version seems bugged to me. I can't get 60fps using my local wired connections, but I can if I connect via internet. It works fine on my PS4 Pro still. Also Vita remote play will be missed . Some sort of 'remote play controller' could be sweet too. Laptops and phones just aren't as convenient as a true portable.
Yep. Discs are annoying, loud, a tax on our environment, and take more work for everyone. It really sucks only being able to buy digital in one place though. That's going to be the biggest issue imo. Tons of great deals on PS5 disc games at the moment, but nothing is on sale in the PSN.
Only a few hours in, but I really enjoy it so far. I don't know if it's the simplicity that I enjoy and others dislike or what, but I was somewhat surprised to see it getting 'average' to below average review scores by many critics. Maybe I just need more time with it. I've heard endgame is somewhat boring/broken. It could be like Destiny 2 where I had a lot of fun until endgame where it was insufferable.
I haven't played in years and probably own a ton of super rare/valuable mods/items. Did the market ever get.... actually built out or is it still just people spamming over chat? If they added a market board or something, I'd consider rejoining. I have like 5k+ plat all from trading, but chat/dojo trading was tedious and keeping up with the market was too much.
Always loved these games. Serious Sam 4 was a little rough around the edges but still a really fun experience.
It's not live in NA yet it seems, but if the collection is like $30 or less, it's an easy recommendation from me if you like "turn off your brain" games.
What was interesting was when I was playing Serious Sam 4 with my dualsense routing audio to my headphones, the haptics did the bass frequencies through the controller. Felt so cool!
@vapidwolf I don't see that happening. They are spending A LOT of money on these free adapters in shipping alone. This method is costing them millions of dollars. If it were as simple as a software update, they would have done it already. There is no way it was cheaper to send out hundreds of thousands of free dongles than it was to pay a group of engineers to make this work at a software level.
@Broosh It really wasn't really a spiritual successor though. It was inspired by Jet Set Radio, but shares very little in terms of similarities. Hover was still enjoyable for its own merits. Just somewhat glitchy/buggy and weird difficulty spikes.
Yeah, I dunno about this one. Plenty of limits everywhere for people to point out. Easily target is going to be framerates as it seems many titles will STILL be limited to 30fps.
@vegeta11 That is my guess too which is a little annoying because a disc drive/license isn't $100 but I'm sure they'll use the disc version to subsidize the digital version. I only 'want' the disc version for bluray, but at that price point it wouldn't make any sense.
Hopefully.... $499 for digital and $449 for disc version. Wondering about PS5 VR too. No info at all makes me think it won't be ready to bundle at launch...
FFXIV certainly deserves to be there. The levequest portion is BRUTAL because not only are they time limited as you mentioned, but they are basically outdated. There's little reason to do them these days. I think I'm at like 2k hours in that game, but I'm only around 900 or so. Should also mention there's no easy way to see how many you have.... there are like 4 categories you'd have to look through and add up.
Honorable mention for this list: Farpoint. These Challenge medals are no joke. Not a super grindy plat or anything, but getting three medals on some stages takes a huge amount of skill/practice.
I recently played it for the first time. It's certainly a great game that still holds up. I'm on the side that hates the combat though. It's unresponsive and clunky imo. Not in a 'fun' way at all. In terms of world building and quests, it's still the best RPG imo. Side quests in the Witcher 3 are better written and more fun than most main quests in other RPG. Graphics/performance also seem a little dated imo, but not distractingly so.
@TrueAssassin86x I dunno man. THPS 5 and THPS:HD were both so rough. I'm worried about the music licensing and the Activisionness of microtransactions. For what it's worth, I didn't pre-order Crash
Just stop using slowed down 'dramatic' versions of songs from the 80s/90s and I'll be happy. I hate that so much. It kills me that a game like FFVII's trailer felt it needed a crappy/horrible version of a Smashing Pumpkins songs while FFVII already has AMAZING music. Really grinds my gears.
@NorrinRadd When I connect to the Data Centers in the midwest (NA), PSN claims my internet speeds are too low to stream games. I have extremely low latency gigabit fiber to the house...... If i use a VPN to connect to other PSN data centers, it's fine. Issue seems to be with them not load balancing very well.
@NorrinRadd From my experience, they can't handle the bandwidth at some data centers for PS Now as is. Opening it up to everyone sounds like a disaster.
Would be nice if they enforce or allow us to completely disable messaging on PS3. Everytime I log into mine (like once or twice a year) I get a thousand notifications of messages from PS4.
Maybe I'm just a nerd, but I thought it was really cool to see more of a deep dive on their choices. I loved the presentation but can see why others could feel let down.
Personally, It looks like it's going to be amazing, but (potentially) so close to PS5, it's hard for me to get that excited yet. I'm sure it's being developed for both, so I'd rather wait and play the best version.

Re: Soapbox: Did You Enjoy Astro's Playroom? Don't Skip Astro Bot Rescue Mission
I still think they should offer a flat mode for the game. It's certainly better in VR, but it would hit a wider audience in flat.
