Pro Clubs is fun but I rarely get the chance to play with the lads at the same time. Back in my uni days, it was damn near daily. Now we lucky to play at all.
All companies are in the business of making profits. If a company can get away with selling it digital only to cut costs, they will.
The backlash from releasing games digital only was severe enough a few years ago that no company would dare do it or risk backlash from the fanbase.
Now they realise people will buy it regardless because they have no choice and they still make their profit. So why ever bother with a physical release that takes away from that?
We don't know how much profit / if any yet has been made on the game, but it being their best selling Remedy game thus far leads me to believe they are happy with its performance.
If I'm a gaming publisher that is going to release a sequel to a beloved franchise (Elden Ring, FF7 Rebirth, GTA6) I have no incentive to release a disc version as I know the fans will buy it digitally regardless.
Before they may have been the hesistancy to do so because sales would have suffered, but if I can still make the money, not bother with discs and shipping costs, more publishers will go this route.
Platinumed Yakuza 7 in December and had such a great time. Love these games and although I never buy day 1, i know this will have over 100 hours of gametime.

Re: Final Fantasy 16, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Fail to Meet Expectations on PS5
When 3 million copies sold in the 1st week on top of the money received for exclusivity isn't good enough, you are in trouble as a company.
Re: Rumour: SEGA Wants Persona to Be an Annual Franchise Alongside Like a Dragon, Sonic
Quality over quantity
Re: More Xbox Layoffs Reportedly Inbound as Company Attempts to Cut Costs
@trev666
Agreed.
When GTA 6 is reported to cost $2 Billion and AAA games need 10+million sales to just break even, industry is in trouble.
Re: This Year's Call of Duty May Not Be Included in Xbox Game Pass After All
That makes business sense.
Releasing games day 1 on gamepass 100% eats into potential sales.
Re: Gaming Subs Like PS Plus, Xbox Game Pass Aren't Growing At All
@get2sammyb
"Too much content, too little time".
This sums up gaming and media in general. My backlog forever increases with each new month of PS Plus additions.
Great problem to have but I now almost never buy anything full price because there is something I have to catch up on

Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Essential Games for May 2024?
As someone who only plays Fifa for Seasons mode, this is a good month.
Stopped bothering to buy it full price when I know it will come to subscription services within the year.

Kudos for doing both.

This.
£5 for a month should be enough to plat it
Re: Rumour: GTA 6 Could Slip as Far Back as 2026 Due to Development Issues
Spring 2025 was already a stretch. Holiday 2025 is more realistic.
Re: Japan Sales Charts: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth PS5 Sales Slip 91% at Retail
These headlines are misleading when we know the vast majority of sales are digital.
Re: First Persona 3 Reload DLC Out Now, Adds Songs from Persona 5 and 4
No point buying Persona games at launch.
Better to wait for the inevitable complete/royal edition with everything included.
Re: Persona 3 Reload: Episode Aigis Expansion Pass Priced at Roughly £30 / $35
Will play on gamepass.
£30 is steep

RIP to the man responsible for a lot of our childhoods.

Re: Japan Sales Charts: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Tops, But Doesn't Even Come Close to Remake
I wonder how Square will approach the inevitable 3rd game in the trilogy with these figures.
I reckon more people bought digital but I am certain they were expecting better sales than this regardless

I became insanely addicted to the cabaret stuff on Kiwami 2 and 0 hahahaha.

I wouldn't play it for free.

Re: Skull and Bones Release Triggers Spike in Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag Players
Black Flag is a far better game and its 10 years old.
Skull & Bones has worse pirating mechanics despite being 2 generations later. Its dead on arrival and will be forgotten about by summer.

You unintentionally helped my point.

Re: Without a Physical PS5 Release, Alan Wake 2 Is Still Remedy's Fastest Selling Game
The all digital future is coming whether we like it or not ladies and gentlemen.
This article just provides further evidence. Will continue buying physical for as long as possible but the writing is on the wall.

I'd buy them.

Loved the original so would not mind replaying it.

Persona 3 reload
Tekken 8
FF7 Rebirth
Spend your money elsewhere. This game will be on PS Plus swiftly.
The fact they didn't allow reviews until the last minute says it all.

How close are you to the platinum? Took me roughly 70 hours with Like A Dragon and I hope to do the same with this game.

Previews were damning and you know its bad when even mainstream outlets say so.

Thoroughly deserved.
Predicting 30 mill by end of 2024
Re: Preview: Animal Crossing on PS5, PS4 Made a Reality in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth
@Thrillho
The Cabaret minigame was so addictive in Yakuza 0 and Kiwami 2 that i ignored the main story for several hours on end lol
Re: Preview: Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth Is the First PS5 Must-Play of 2024
Day 1 Purchase.
Platinumed Yakuza 7 in December and had such a great time. Love these games and although I never buy day 1, i know this will have over 100 hours of gametime.

This is why you should only buy a game if you plan on playing it immediately
Re: PS Plus Extra Loses 9 Great PS5, PS4 Games Next Month
This is why we should not be happy Xbox is struggling with sales.
Sony knows they have such a massive lead that they can increase price and offer less because they know you are not going anywhere.

Re: GTA 6 Trailer Out Now, 2025 Release Window Revealed
I reckon this will make over $2 Billion in revenue on Day 1
Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Essential Games for December 2023?
Horrible for me but im sure there are several kids out there happy with this.
I have beaten roughly 15 games on PS Plus this year and at £64.99, hard to argue against that value.
Not every month will be for you
Re: Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth Really Is Massive as Dev Confirms Series' Biggest Ever Map

Platinumed Gaiden and looking forward to Infinite Wealth.
Re: Oh No! Ubisoft Appears to Be Testing In-Game Ads in Old Assassin's Creed Titles
This is how it starts. In 2006, Oblivion releases the first DLC. It was considered odd. Its now almost shocking to not have a game with DLC.
This is the direction gaming is going sadly.
