Re: Best GTA Games

Party_Cannon

I grew up in the 80's watching Miami Vice, so Vice City is better than SA for me. I think the preference between SA and VC is a matter of how much you like things like Scarface and similar movies, 80's music and nostalgia vs. the game innovations and the 90's urban black movies which was so in moves like Boyz in the Hood. Plus SA has the awesome Samuel L Jackson as the corrupt cop.

Re: The Uncharted Movie Trailer Is Finally Here

Party_Cannon

Is this following Drake as a teenager? It doesn't look Uncharted to me.
Plus, that scene where they pulled the fakest looking map out of the fakest looking sand with the cheapest looking lighting for the scene really screams "a cheap made for TV budget"

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.3 Details Leave a Lot to Be Desired

Party_Cannon

I never was interested in this game outside of "mildly". It's become so much of a running joke, I will never, ever play or own it. I even bought Fallout76 for $9 just to try it. 2077 though? Nah.. there's so much more to play and the game's world still looks uninteresting - even if it ever works right (which it clearly won't).
What a farce of a game.

Re: Sony Under Heavy Fire for Handling of Indies on PS Store

Party_Cannon

@weissen81 I don't know about "leadership" being the problem (I literally don't know where to finger-point), but there is a problem (see my observation on the PSVR section).
I did want to reply though that I see a lot of indie's being discounted. Some are complete and utter trash like the "dragooned" series.
Also your comment on the switch .. I don't agree with.. the Switch eStore is the most dysfunctional store I've ever witnessed and it is filled with as a megaton of garbage indie games as the Steam store. It truly is terrible.

Re: Sony Under Heavy Fire for Handling of Indies on PS Store

Party_Cannon

Still doesn't sound as bad as their screwing up the PSVR portion of the store. They eliminated the "PSVR only" "PSVR Included" and "New to PSVR". So you only see a limited amount of tiles and a tiny handful of titles.
You can turn on the "PSVR" filter under All Games, but that only shows "PSVR Only" titles - and misses every game where it also has a 2d portion.. games like RE7, Hitman3, No Mans Sky, Persistence, Tetris Effect, Rez, Wipeout, etc etc.
So when a new title drops - prospective buyers cannot buy it unless it is added to the small tiled section under PSVR, or unless it is PSVR Only and caught in the filter.
Many PSVR games are released by indie developers, ironically.

The only way to see all games is to use the Web store and avoid PSN entirely ---- but does anyone know that? No.

Re: Next-Gen PSVR Targeting Holiday 2022, Will Use Samsung OLED Screen

Party_Cannon

Funny how articles just state widely expected details or quote details Domenic Mallinson had given back in 2019. Wider FOV, OLED dual screens, Eye tracking, 4 Cameras, Foveated Rendering, HDR. Less wires.

The only article I haven't seen yet is the wireless "Pro" model that Mallinson was hinting at. Or that the PSVR2 will be modular to offer a future wireless option. I guess that'll be coming.

Sony better reveal this thing soon (I expect they will) so we see what they actually will have and can be excited about things actually making the product.

Re: Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart (PS5) - Intergalactic Stunner Puts PS5's Power on Display

Party_Cannon

@Pete_Stooge I agree. There are so many "8/10" games that it becomes a medium score these days. The game is a technical marvel and a showcase title. SammyB's point about the fact that R&C games don't deviate much from other games, well.. many games do though don't they? Nintendo often comes to mind.
The score is not representative of the quality and consistency of the title. A "middling" score of an 8 is a sub-par score for such a title. I mean I looked at a couple recent reviews - "Tango" was a 'flawed but fun' game at a 7 and the old Mass Effect re-do was a 9.
I can see why some sites get away from numbers, because this is the problem it creates - but from everything I've seen, including the positive comments in Sammy's own review - 8 seems pretty much a "meh" score for this title.

Re: Full E3 2021 Schedule Revealed

Party_Cannon

I'm hoping Sony is going to reveal their next gen VR headset concept like they did at E3 2014. We all know they're just on the edge of revealing it - we just don't know when they'll do it.

Re: Aloy Trends As Fans Discuss Horizon Forbidden West Hero

Party_Cannon

I don't care what Aloy looks like really. What I do care about is we're dealing with a last gen engine running PS4 code on the PS5. There have been some improvements on the environment design but LOD pop in is atrocious in this game. For a PS4 game it looks great, for a PS5 game it looks like a PS4 game.

Re: Horizon Forbidden West Comparison Shows Improvements Over Zero Dawn

Party_Cannon

Weird.. even though the environments look more detailed, maybe it's the lighting but the old one looks less cartoony and more solid. I like the older-age look of the model over the new one as well. I'm not really impressed. Esp considering this is footage from a PS5.
What's with the shoulder-frill that popped in too? That's not a LOD issue, the camera was right beside her and her frill.

Re: Horizon Forbidden West Mesmerises in 14 Minute Gameplay Sequence

Party_Cannon

It's pretty, but it does look like the same engine with no new modifications than the 1st game. The color palette makes it look a little too bright in my opinion - the 1st one had colors which were a bit more muted and resultingly - more realistic looking. Also why they felt Aloy needed to be constantly yapping and making cute quips throughout every single moment during gameplay makes it sound really really stupid. I don't recall that on the 1st one. The music is beautiful, but the fact that Aloy doesn't STFU is pretty grating.

And due to the availability of the PS5, I'll be playing it on my Pro I'm guessing.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Dev Still in Talks with Sony Over PlayStation Store Return

Party_Cannon

@The_New_Butler I don't know if it was your intention to run in to defend CDPR as a savior in this mess by offering refunds "unequivocally"', but nobody should be defending these jokers who released this joke of a game to their victims. Yeah they offered game refunds, but it was that because they faced one of the biggest gamer backlash in gaming history and their shares were tanking.
They sold a bill of goods to gamers and they absolutely deserve to be hammered for that. Agreed that Sony's refund policy isn't good, but nobody should be defending CDPR here.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Dev Still in Talks with Sony Over PlayStation Store Return

Party_Cannon

While I loved the Witcher3, I didn't care at all about Cyberpunk2077. I didn't have any interest to play it. I didn't have any interest to buy it.
When it was released though, I didn't expect it to be the complete technical mess that it was, so I was very glad it didn't appeal to me at all.
I know Rockstar has been doing it longer, but it is absolutely jaw dropping to see that not only did the PS3's GTAV had a better functioning, less glitchy open world, but so did GTA4, and even the GTA series on the PS2!
And now.. does anyone care about Cyberpunk? Does it matter if it comes back to the store? I don't think anyone says to themselves "I would buy Cyberpunk if it was on the PSN store."

Re: Poll: Did You Buy Resident Evil Village?

Party_Cannon

I'll get it later for the PS5 (when I can actually get a PS5).
Got a Pro now which will play it at 60fps, but I'm interested if it will get PSVR2 support for PS5 whenever PSVR2 rolls around.

RE7 was brown-pant inducing, so I'd like to have the same experience with this one!!

Re: Web PS Store Finally Adds Sorting, Filtering Options Again

Party_Cannon

Now if they could only fix the PSN store.
Example - PSVR category: there is no more search options like "whats new", "popular", "Made for PSVR" and "PSVR mode included". If I was a developer I'd be pssed that nobody can find my game unless they search for it or if it is on one of the remaining tiles under that category.
Sony doesn't need someone to hack and mess up their store - they do a fine job of that, themselves.

Re: Here's Your First Look at The Lord of the Rings: Gollum Gameplay

Party_Cannon

Gollum's design here still looks like a hairless monkey. What's with that PS2 era hair texture too? The rest of the game seems to have good artwork.

But what's your special power here? Arguing with yourself? Being a weak coward? I don't understand the appeal of a stealth game with an unlikeable character we know is a pain in the ass.

Makes me wonder.. who thought this would resonate with gamers? I feel sorry for all the talented programmers and artists working on this future flop.
