Kind of neat, but it's still a PS4 game with some bells and whistles for PS5 owners. I still don't see any need to get rid of my Pro and get a 5. .. yet. I'm sure it'll come, but here we are still getting PS4 games for PS5 owners.
John Kimbell: "Stop whining!" I have barely noticed any change. Plus for all the Karens like the one who wrote this article - there's something your mail does called "rules". Look into it.
I bought FO76 for $9.99 when it was a giant dumpster fire. Now it's less of that but more like just a flaming bag of poo. I've DL'd some updates and I still find it annoying and irritating to play. It's not Fallout to me. It looks like a "reasonable facsimile thereof", but that's about it. Makes me wonder if Starfield will be more FO4 or more FO76. I can get it for my PC when it comes out, but I'm not really interested. I think FO76 simply turned me off of future Bethesda games. That's quite a legacy.
Doesn't "look horrifying" at all, but it does look good. The audio overlay of the faux-robotic woman's voice was too much talking though, I had to turn down the sound. Reminded me of those "lets play" videos where the youtuber won't shut the flip up. Other than that, it looks interesting though.
@SoulChimera I often wonder who has the biggest problem with "floating hands". VR players or VR naysayers.
Initially when playing, you notice it - but within minutes, you stop as the movement of your hands is 1:1.
To your point though, game-estimated elbows are something you do notice. You notice them often. Sometimes they even seem like spaghetti. You notice they are often not exactly where your own elbows are - this can often be the immersion breaker WELL over floating hands.
Basically, you notice the hands are your own, but the arms are someone else's. It does break immersion if you focus on them. I try not to. This is the reason developers remove the arms, as in early testing - they just don't act right and you notice that.
To do full arm rendering accurately, you would need some kind of band to place at the bend of your arm, which would be accurately tracked by the cameras. Maybe someday this will be a thing, but for now - floaty hands just aren't a big deal as I'm way too immersed in the game world to care about that.
@lolwhatno While I agree that it is ridiculous that Zombie films set in the real world think that it's believable that the word and knowledge of a Zombie have been stricken from our language and history. "What is that thing??" - "I don't know! It's some kind of monster!". Having agreed with you - these don't look like Zombies nor is their premise likely to be a zombie infection. I think making up a new monster name for them is just fine.
@BReal It's an old, old game so yeah in comparison to PS5 native titles like Gran Turismo of course it does look "Shockingly bad" - its a PSP game running on a PS5 - it's not a remastered PSP game.. it's just a PSP game. As "shockingly bad for a PS5" as it looks, it's better to have it available to play, rather than not at all.
I think it's a difficult thing to move all your new titles to a platform that isn't as saturated as it could be, nor is available to people who want it. It's an interesting topic .. on one hand it's time to showcase games that cannot be done on the past gen, on the other hand people can't let go of the past gen because they can't get the new one. So in terms of leaving past gen behind, you're kind of damned if you do, damned if you don't.
I wonder if Sony will attempt to dominate the VR world by doing the same thing with PSVR2? I know that a lot of PCVR people are sure hoping it's going to work on their computers. I doubt it, but they sure would blow the competition out of the water.
Firstoff - the prerendered trailer looks really bad. And it's not representative of the simple cartoon-world graphics that the Ques2 is only capable of. (beside the PSVR1, I have a Q2.. and while many games are def fun, this thing clearly needs more power to reach virtual "reality". Its virtual cartoon-ality. Even the old PSVR1 has more impressive visuals despite the lower resolution).
So yeah, since Quest2 is only half of the teraflop power of a base PS4, so I would hope that PSVR2 wouldn't get the same game with simplified geometry. If anything something built for a Quest2 is more suited to PSVR1.
When they are releasing a graphically superior game for PCVR, that's when I expect to see a PSVR2 version. Both are x86 machines so it would port over easily - with improvements for PSVR2's tech of course.
Still though - that trailer looks like it's going to be a trash game even IF the PCVR/PSVR2 game looked identical.
Besides having original PS1 discs - I have this Chrono Cross and a bunch of other games loaded onto a USB stick with Autobleem on a PS1 classic. Doubling the Classic's resolution in Autobleem to 640x480 makes the games look better too.
If Sony takes your stuff away.. there's always the internet to get it back from.
@Kidfunkadelic83 Thanks to social media, everyone wants to be entitled to be outraged at anything which is actually not much of anything - feelings, perception, suspected infractions, conspiracies, stuff-they-heard-online. Keyboard warriors unite to attack. Everyone does a virtual Will Smith.
And it will only get worse so just enjoy what you enjoy and forget about the rest.
On "always online" GT sport was essentially the same deal, so I don't know why this was new outrage.
Rockstar... how the mighty have fallen. Seems like everyone wants to rip out your money (right, Polyphony Digital?)
Looking at Bethesda with Fallout 76 - can you imagine how much greed will be programmed into GTA6?
It's down to 1.5 on user score now. lol People there are saying you need to spend almost $40 on real world money to get ingame cars?? Whaaaattt???
GT Sport's cars were about 2-3 bux from what I remember, or you could keep getting credits to buy them, but at least if you wanted to fast track it wouldn't cost you much (even tho it shouldn't be an option - you should only be able to earn them IMHO). Also .. GT sport tells me I need to be online or I can only go to my garage and take pictures, so the always online in GT7 seems about on par with Sport.
Meh-bisoft. I haven't been interested in anything they've done for awhile. Although there are some exceptions, much of their games seem to be corporate designed games by suits in a boardroom.
@Octane Played fine at launch. I still have my v1.00 disc. There were minor FPS issues in crookback bog, and some other areas which took them a few patches to iron out. It wasn't perfect for sure, but it was far from "broken". CP2077 was absolutely undeniably broken. I think they built on what they had done in Witcher 2 for Witcher 3. I don't think it was a far stretch. Witcher 1 was ass though in comparison to 2. CP2077 showed that they were out of their league in creating a world that wasn't consisting of empty fields, water travel and windy trees. Populated towns in witcher3 were much much simpler than the city of cyberpunk. I really think they bit off way more than they could chew with that game.
And I half expect them to do the same with Witcher 4 - but hopefully they pull back their scope and expand on what they learned in Witcher3 rather than reinventing the wheel - as that clearly does not go well for them.
Unity has come a long way clearly.. but I'm not impressed until I see it on less than "top end PC". The Matrix demo was running on a $500 PS5 and that is impressive. Lets see what Unity can pull off on the same machine before I come away impressed.
Harry who?? Lookit the player go in the trailer's combat!!
Makes the Potter kid look like a lightweight in terms of magic skills, dunnit?
(if the player character is that powerful - is that a canon problem ?)
And looking at the comments, I didn't think it would be this divisive !
It's the new codename "Playstation Stream". I thought this was known?
It's supposed to be a 4K streamer approximately the size of a Vita TV with an onboard SoC for media and share functions only.
Expected to release with a base 1 year month of both codename "Spartacus" and Bravia Core, it's Sony's attempt to drastically undercut Xbox Live and the SeriesS by offering similar visuals at less than half the price of the SeriesS . After that you have to pay on a similar tier as the rest of the PS services.
Still in testing, which is why they are shipping them to various countries for internet testing -but they use a modified Kraken compression technique to achieve higher bandwidth for 4K on lower tier ISP rates. It also will allow device to device streaming directly from a PS5 (same as the Vita TV did for the PS4).
Other tidbits - you can purchase digital games from the store - which you can stream to the PS Stream or download if you have a PS5, or get one later.
Personally, I'm not a streamer guy, but I'm curious if this will be successful or do a Stadia and tank hard. $120 with a DualSense and 1 year of Spartacus and CORE does sound pretty interesting! (plus you get to keep the DS for your PS5- WIN!)
Have the 1st PSVR still and the library is fantastic. Still getting titles too despite it being a 1st gen VR headset. The PSVR2 will be a premuim headset with all the high tech additions.. hopefully it won't cost an arm an a leg. Even though it has lower resolution, the Vive Pro Eye kit costs over $1800 here in Canada - and it is a bit of a mess of wires to set up like the PSVR1. The price for this won't be close to that so I'm looking forward to having this technology in a consumer friendly price!
Wow. Someone doesn't know Vita very much do they? Where's Gravity Rush? Where's Wipeout 2048? Where's Telltale Game's Wolf Among Us? Where's Metal Gear Solid HD collection? Where's Tearaway? Rayman Origins? Y's Memories of Celceta? among some other greats?
I've got a lot of Vita games, and you've missed a lot of titles that should be here. I mean I know favs are selective, but theres some mediocre titles that have been placed on this list which should be replaced by better titles.
@SJBUK Interesting point about rape. It's a violent, demeaning sexual domination act which takes away all humanity from the victim and leaves longlasting mental trauma. It has become widespread in horror-survival movies as had gore, body horror and dismemberment.
Gore, Body Horror and Dismemberment are now all commonplace in horror games , how long before rape becomes an in-game act, cutscene or activity you can choose to do?
Is that ethical? What purpose does it have in a game? Does it cross a line? Should that content be edited out because we know young kids play these games regardless of ratings? Is that kind of censorship justified? etc.
Censorship is bad. Mmmmkay? I don''t care about the game.. never even heard of it. But they should allow a user to select whether they want extreme content or not. Let the purchaser of the game decide whether they want censorship for their own personal choice or not.
I'll stream it as hey it's a movie so why not, but Holland still looks out of place. Speaking of out of place .. that pic in the article where he's holding onto the cargo boxes - is that holland superimposed onto actual PS3 game graphics? It looks so fake I thought it must be.
The game was great. But the re-do is a higher texture overlay on top of the PS1 game - which is why it's 4:3. You can still see the original polygon jitter from the PS1 emulation underneath, it's just a little less noticeable as the resolution isn't 320x280 anymore. The background have Squenix's "stipple-painting" process on top of the old backgrounds - same as what they did to the textures in FF12. It's a fresh coat of paint on the PS1 game. To nostalgia fans, it looks great - to modern day gamers, it looks like ass. It looks like a touched up, high res PS1 game and that's better than it was.
The game was epic, dark with lots of twists and turns and I enjoyed it more than some of the FF entries. I'd play it again for sure.
Vice City was my fav in PS2 days, so I'm looking forward to playing it without paying it. As poorly as these remasters were done, I can't argue with not paying for a bit of nostalgia feels.
I have it on the Quest2. It's allright. It feels less fun and more realistic - although it has modes that are fun for a short while. For some that's great, but it didn't really grab me.
It could have been done on PSVR1 mind you - it's not really a technical showcase - and the PS4 is more powerful than the Quest2.
I enjoyed everybody's golf VR (even though the caddies drive you nuts), and on the Quest2 - Walkabout Mini Golf.
I think we'll see a lot of indie developers jump on PSVR2 once it's out. And thats a good thing.
The game looks artistic, not realistic. Maybe that was the look they were going for as this game also targets the PS4. But a realistic lighting model would bring these scenes to life more than looking like a detailed painting. Can't wait to see what a PS5 only Horizon game will look like without being anchored to the old architecture of the base PS4.
@Abrothers587 I can't comment on whether gamepass is trash, but it apparently works for them, so your assessment probably is only a minority opinion. Even if it is - the prospect of getting a bunch of games you'll never play for a subscription price is alluring to people. Look at PS Now. I have it and I think I'm an idiot for paying for it. Even if there's good game I want to get to - it may only be avail for a limited time. What is with that BS? Netflix works on the same principle. A bunch of mediocre entertainment things you can use at your fingertips - even tho you'll barely watch the content. Must be something in the human psyche that makes us think value for money is a lot of crap for one low price.
Just curious.. why is Fifa 22 such a big seller? Nobody I know plays FIFA Nobody talks about FIFA I've barely ever seen anyone review FIFA I''ve not seen people stream FIFA I've never seen any hype about FIFA Nobody raves about FIFA Media doesn't cover FIFA Fifa 20XX seems like it's the same game as FIFA 20XY (and previous years) except for roster changes. (?) Etc FIFA. But it's the #1 spot? Not knocking the game, but anyone have an idea why it's so popular yet it's almost invisible in any coverage anywhere?
Absolutely baffling casting here. Guaranteed rejection by almost all fans due to this and a flop at the box office.
Holland looks like he should be Drake's kid. Whalberg is not as strange in the role as Holland is in his - although he still is a miscast actor in this role.
I'm sure if you play the game - you're guaranteed to have a much much better time than watching this will be.
Over a year eh? ... and I'm interested less in it than I was a year ago. Go figure. Maybe I'll pick it up when it's in a $5.00 bin like I did with Fallout76. At that price, I'd say it's worth my money.
Looks Silent Hill and Devil May Cry are having a baby. Personally, I'm interested but only very vaguely... Silent Hill's slow, tension building games creeped me the F out and that genre is pretty slim these days. Action horror games are literally saturating the market - especially in VR where almost every other FPS game is a zombie/mutant shooter. ..Seriously, I'm tapped out when it comes to horror action games. I have no place in my library for them.. hoping this title is more than a Devil May Cry clone.
You can still get the original games on the PSN PS3 storefront, interestingly enough . Better than these half assed remasters. The illiterate spelling errors and "WTF" rain are absolutely inexcusable.
No wonder R* removed the PS2 updated versions from all digital storefronts (except the PS3 as mentioned).. they didn't want people buying the superior games for less money.
And just so everyone knows how puzzling this is - Grove Street Games did the original PS2 conversions for the PS3 and X360. They didn't have the graphical problems (rain/spelling) that this remaster has. I find that pretty interesting - their first remaster of the games were their better looking remaster. It's been said that the new 2021 remasters are built off of their ios/Android versions they did. Which are inferior to the PS3/X360 versions - example: the rain/lighting in those versions have problems too, so there might be something to that rumor.

Re: PSP's Ridge Racer 2 Looks Tasty in Upressed PS5, PS4 Screenshots
@PlatinumPlaystation It's a word they made up (which is annoying yes), but it's not rocket science - up (upped the) + res (resolution) = upressed.
Probably would have looked better if they just used the industry standard word of "upscaled" rather than made up their own word. It is kind of silly.

To nostalgia fans, it looks great - to modern day gamers, it looks like ass. It looks like a touched up, high res PS1 game and that's better than it was.
The game was epic, dark with lots of twists and turns and I enjoyed it more than some of the FF entries. I'd play it again for sure.
Re: Busted PS5, PS4 GTA Remasters Sold Around 10 Million Copies
Cmon..10 million isn't surprising. Across 6 platforms and pre-orders too? It'd be way more if it wasn't for quality issues.
10 million should surprise no one.
..As for GTA5? It'll sell millions too for a game released 2 generations ago. Expect GTA6 to release on PS5, PS6 and PS7.
Re: PS5 GTA 5 Officially Releases on 15th March, with Raytracing and More
Trevor's expression sums up my entire feeling on the whole matter.
Re: Tom Holland's Nathan Drake Stars in Uncharted X Hyundai Tucson Commercial
Hey it's some little kid doing Nathan Drake cosplay while shilling for a car company!
Who'd-a thought we'd see something as cringey as this?
Willing to bet we'll see a new Tucson being driven around in the movie. (facepalm)
Re: Random: This Is How PlayStation Consoles Would Look if They Rendered Themselves
The massive amounts of bloom on the PS3 is sooooo PS3. ha!
Re: Beleaguered PS2 Remaster GTA Vice City Spotted for PS Now
Vice City was my fav in PS2 days, so I'm looking forward to playing it without paying it. As poorly as these remasters were done, I can't argue with not paying for a bit of nostalgia feels.
Re: Social Golf Sim GOLF+ Planned to Putt PS5's PSVR2
I have it on the Quest2. It's allright. It feels less fun and more realistic - although it has modes that are fun for a short while. For some that's great, but it didn't really grab me.
It could have been done on PSVR1 mind you - it's not really a technical showcase - and the PS4 is more powerful than the Quest2.
I enjoyed everybody's golf VR (even though the caddies drive you nuts), and on the Quest2 - Walkabout Mini Golf.
I think we'll see a lot of indie developers jump on PSVR2 once it's out. And thats a good thing.
Re: Jaw-Dropping PS5 Horizon Forbidden West Screens Show a Bustling Town
The game looks artistic, not realistic.
Maybe that was the look they were going for as this game also targets the PS4. But a realistic lighting model would bring these scenes to life more than looking like a detailed painting.
Can't wait to see what a PS5 only Horizon game will look like without being anchored to the old architecture of the base PS4.
Re: UK Sales Charts: GTA Trilogy, Among Us Sell Best on PlayStation
Re: UK Sales Charts: GTA Trilogy, Among Us Sell Best on PlayStation
Just curious.. why is Fifa 22 such a big seller?
Nobody I know plays FIFA
Nobody talks about FIFA
I've barely ever seen anyone review FIFA
I''ve not seen people stream FIFA
I've never seen any hype about FIFA
Nobody raves about FIFA
Media doesn't cover FIFA
Fifa 20XX seems like it's the same game as FIFA 20XY (and previous years) except for roster changes. (?)
Etc FIFA.
But it's the #1 spot? Not knocking the game, but anyone have an idea why it's so popular yet it's almost invisible in any coverage anywhere?
Re: Sony Reveals Uncharted Movie Poster
Absolutely baffling casting here. Guaranteed rejection by almost all fans due to this and a flop at the box office.
Holland looks like he should be Drake's kid. Whalberg is not as strange in the role as Holland is in his - although he still is a miscast actor in this role.
I'm sure if you play the game - you're guaranteed to have a much much better time than watching this will be.
Re: It's Been One Year Since the Release of Cyberpunk 2077
Over a year eh? ... and I'm interested less in it than I was a year ago. Go figure.
Maybe I'll pick it up when it's in a $5.00 bin like I did with Fallout76. At that price, I'd say it's worth my money.
Re: Former Silent Hill Developers Announce Slitterhead
Looks Silent Hill and Devil May Cry are having a baby.
Personally, I'm interested but only very vaguely... Silent Hill's slow, tension building games creeped me the F out and that genre is pretty slim these days. Action horror games are literally saturating the market - especially in VR where almost every other FPS game is a zombie/mutant shooter.
..Seriously, I'm tapped out when it comes to horror action games. I have no place in my library for them.. hoping this title is more than a Devil May Cry clone.
Re: Unsurprisingly, the GTA Trilogy Is Getting Review Bombed on PS5, PS4
@usaislie That was sarcasm, dude.
Re: Unsurprisingly, the GTA Trilogy Is Getting Review Bombed on PS5, PS4
Re: Elden Ring's PS5 Framerate Is Seemingly Smoother When Running PS4 Version
WTF is that awful music?? Just play the game's audio ffs. Good lord.
