Yeah. I 'member....
Unsurprising. On a related topic - I never understood the appeal of the Monkey King thing. It doesn't interest me at all - I did try to watch a subtitled movie once to understand it and came away just as lost as I did before. I think the appeal of the game outside of China may be minimal - unless it is highly rated so that other gamers will pick it up out of curiosity. The game looked great so I have some curiousity on it - but only if it is reviewed very well. Still - I wish the devs the best and much success with their game.
I don't know about the other regions, but you still can't buy PS5s here in Canada. All sold out everywhere.
I don't need one yet as I have a lot of backlog on the Pro that I am still in the process of playing and I just picked up a steam deck as well.
BUT I'd like to get one shortly down the road with a PSVR2 and having accessories like VR and an external disk drive - but no readily available console - seems like a problem still in need of solving.
As a PSVR and Quest 2 owner, it's kind of a big MEH to see a lot of those same games shovelled onto PSVR2. The PSVR2 gets ports of Quest2 games? Oh my.. what a letdown.
Fortunately there are some proper, standout (non Q2 games) here, but not many. Enough to really wow you, but lets hope that some PCVR games make their way onto this setup (Alyx, Bonelab, PC-quality Star Wars Squadrons, Lone Echo 1&2, Fallout 4, etc).
This is a high tech piece of equipment - lets see titles that show it off, not Quest2 games.
Well of COURSE a nvidia tailored PC video is going to look better than a PS4 (big belly laugh here) and a $500 PS5. A Ferrari is going to be faster and slicker than a Civic too. Nice call Einstein. On the game itself, it sure does look interesting, but only a fool pre-orders games nowadays. A smart buyer waits for reviews and a smarter one waits for sales.
Unsurprising that there is so much butthurt in these responses. Different strokes for different folks - your fav game - Elden Ring for example - didn't get above Horizon? Guess a bunch of other people didn't agree with you. And that's just fine so put a band-aid on your butt and move on.
@WallyWest Can't speak to the collection - but TLOU remaster got Digital Foundry's best 2022 graphics #2 spot. Visually it's an impressive remaster and the game itself always was a top-tier story. And on your fanboy salt spray - this is a playstation site.. what were you expecting? Xbox games??
I find the amount of 10s quite surprising. There are some nice quality of life improvements, but the much lauded ray tracing mode has quite bad performance - often unable to hit 30fps. I just watched Digital Foundry's piece on it and going from 60fps to 24fps in the same area on the PS5 is appalling.
It's still a 2015 game and while the 60fps mode is nice, it does dip under that on occasion on the PS5, and the XboxOne X already had that - but CDPR never enabled a higher framerate mode on the Pro.
It's also been released with a number of bugs.
Again it's nice. It's free for this old game too, so that's super appreciated, but from a score perspective - I would give it a 6 or 7 at best with all of that added in. Scoring it on a technical level - I'd give it a 5-6.. it's an old game with some performance hitting polish and some bugs.
I'm playing it on my Steam Deck again, as I've already played it before on my Pro. I don't have the time to play through it again front of my TV when I have enough of a good-game backlog to make my way through. This update just isn't appealing enough to do that - except to play with its photo mode for a few mins I guess.
It's a nice looking game - an artistic looking game, but not a "real" looking game. The PS5 enhancements give an alternative look to it. Yes it has more accurate lighting, but except for tech-nerds who geek out on "ITZ GOT RT NAO!", the rest of us see a subtle improvement, or at best an alternative look.
The extras are free and welcome, but they don't give us a better game or a different way to play. I recently loaded it up on my Steam Deck as that is a different way to play for me and gives me an incentive to play it again. But some RT and lighting changes and 60fps are not enough to make me sit in front of my TV and play it again.
Contrast this with the continual free content and gameplay and VR (and PS5 graphics) updates on No Mans Sky, and I am given an incentive to try the game again to play it different. I realize these games are totally different, but my point is that W3 is still W3 and exactly the same game but with some nice graphics adds.
SO yeah - cool and all, and thanks CDPR for bringing me some extra cheese on my leftover pizza, but it's still the same game I played 7 years ago and as much as I enjoyed it then, I just am not interested to play it on my TV again now.
Everyone is such a snowflake these days. So some dude blamed "woke" reviewers. How so? What made them woke? Is it just his opinion? Did the reviewers say "Hey, I'm Woke!". The game was middling to me, but I can understand how it meant a lot to the studio - it was their biggest game so far. They should feel proud of that kind of accomplishment. It's hard to be a God of War or a Uncharted or anything else that big, so be proud of such a big release. But just because it wasn't a GoW or Uncharted doesn't mean it was crap. It was okay and that's fine to be okay. And despite this Garvin fellow having his own little pouty face opinion on this.. in the grand scheme of things it's a eye-rolling comment at best. You liked your game you made and that's cool. Some others out there didn't and that's fine - not everyone is happy about everything so just shut up and move on. Much to do about nothing. And all this ending up in an article about a 3 year old game we've all forgotten about.
Does resolving your stock shortages include resolving scalpers buying these things up? I'll wait for the new model. If there's a Pro then I'm opting for that as I still use my death stranding model PS4 pro and the big backlog I still have to get through. I'm fine for awhile to wait.
Like Kyle, I only clicked on this to find out what a Neon White PS5 and PS4 was going to be. But it's a game.. so I watched the trailer. And after watching, I thought of a Towelie quote where he sees something and says "Oh man.. I got no idea what's going on right now."
@Lup This is why I have no interest in this title - even when it gets discounted to $20. I have a lot of back-log titles and titles I have yet to buy with likeable characters and likeable or enjoyable stories which I would play over a game featuring a bunch of entitled genZ karens and darrens - as much fun as the traditional Saints Row wacky gameplay would add to play value. Unlikeable characters become unlikeable to play.
I don't know how many units were sold of this game, but I suspect that it's not as expected or projected for the company. I wonder if that will send a message to developers that you should create an overall likeable game and not just use likeable gameplay.
The small amount of responses to this news story makes me think that people (not just me) are widely not interested in this title.
I have a PSVR1 on a Pro and it's still an incredible experience to play games like No Mans Sky on it. Played Rush of Blood again for Halloween and it's still as fun as when I got it. Flat-TV gaming isn't really the same once you're actually IN a game. I'd get a PSVR2 but I'd have to find a PS5 first and they're still not readily available. I'm okay with waiting though.. eventually I'll be able to get both. BUT on that note - Sony needs to open up orders worldwide directly to their own websites to these devices. I know they have that in a few countries (I'm in Canada and they don't offer it here even though we get everything else the same as the USA). Scarcity and Scalpers are still a problem with the PS5 and I suspect it will be with the PSVR2 as well. And THAT's a problem.
I don't wish economic hard times on any developer because they have developed a game that nobody wants, but this looks completely forgettable and necessarily avoidable. It's a game that belongs back in the early 2000s when we all had nothing better to play. Thing is.... now we do - in droves.
@WadeIsInsane Thanks for mentioning that. I realized I wasn't really clear, in that it should be internationally ordered online as well as sufficient stock should be available for those that wish to buy. PS Direct is only available in some countries - case in point, I am in Canada which does not have PS Direct, although we share almost every other capability with the USA. The title of this article is also comical re: the small price increase when scalpers are still charging 50% or more over retail - and are selling these through legitimate sites such as Walmart or Bestbuy. There needs to be a new way to sell consoles to allow everyone to have an opportunity to get them at retail prices.
I still can't get one do to lack of availability. I'm not all that interested mind you. I still have a lot of backlog to get through on my PS4 Pro so my only real interest in it is for PSVR2. I just picked up a Steam Deck so I could play anything on the go with my busy life. I'm sure I'm not the only one more interested in the Deck than the PS5, and who have picked one up because it's much more accessible and easy to get over the PS5.. Come to think of it.. ordering PS5s directly from Sony (like Valve does) would be a workable solution to scalpers reselling PS5s. Sony's loss is Valve's gain, I suppose. After all these years, I am surprised Sony hasn't figured this stuff out.
I mean there's hyping your game and then there's making ridiculous claims about your game. Seems like Hideo is trying to "out-peter molyneux" the original Peter Molyneux!
What a crying shame. The original was fantastic, but this sounds like it was created by people with no sense of comedy writing pretending to understand that type of writing.
f stands for flowers, clearly. As in "Golly, you sure do smell flowery!"
I don't know what this CGI has to do with Silent Hill, but it sure looks like it could be interesting!
Looks okay, but the simpler, gritty look of the original appeals to me more to be honest. And Issac walks kinda funny .. it's like he is walking around with a bad back (My back hurts just watching him!). I swear he looked more natural in his movement in the original.
Looks fun, and I'll get it as I was a fan of the originals, but I'm not feeling a Day 1 .. wait until it goes on sale is more the way it grabs me at the moment.
Egads! Horribly mutilating a woman by ripping off her head after butchering all the others in this female tribe? (or whatever it is).. it sends a pretty vile message without context of why this is happening. The fact that her head is still alive as her tears fall down is a touch that adds to it's uncomfortably brutal cruelty. "Not cool" comes to mind as a phrase.
Visually though, Unreal 5 is quite a leap forward. Its impressive that way for sure.
That doesn't remind me of Metal Gear Solid. Where are the angles? Why does his head have so many polygons??
I believe you can make the actual PS1 Metal Gear Solid Snake head to wear in papercraft. So if you can't afford this one and you do want a life size Solid Snake head in your home, you can make one with relatively little folding.
Is there a resurgence of the cartoon planned as well? I remember the game was fun - but today's audience has little reference point. So without anchoring it in some kind of reference in current culture, it's as curious a game decision as that Gollum one.
@huyi Well.. it doesn't take an einstein to figure out it was a cost initiative. These ultra fast SSDs are quite expensive - the Series S still rocks a small 500Gb storage to keep it's costing down.
@BAMozzy I think that's a very fair comment. For a sci-fi game that promises outrageous, nonsensical and stupid statements like that.. it really detracts from the appeal of the game IMHO.
As in - cmon devs, just finish your game and promise us a good time, stop saying ridiculous things from your mouth, that your game clearly cannot cash. It just makes you look dumb.
I found this article pretty funny "“Our enemies aren't the undead, they aren't aliens, they're mutated humans. So we want to show that grounding – they're still recognizable as humans – and also that connection, so you're not just dispensing with these things that used to be human. They’re your fellow prisoners and guards.”
versus:
"The most realistic characters you'll see in a videogame"
When my co-workers mutate and still try to kill me as I blast their limbs off, I'll be thinking how accurate this statement is.
When I think of "Assassins Creed" I think of another open world sprawling game where you avoid it at all costs unless you're unemployed and all kinds of time to kill doing things like petting fish and climbing baskets.
Not saying they don't put some new ideas into these expansive, now-too boring games, but my god Ubisoft is pretty much a one trick pony these days eh?
@OrtadragoonX Wise choice. I don't think your comment was meant to offend at all, but just reading that will give some people a really, really bad feeling. Best to move on.
Brilliant color scheme. Looks like the clothing that the middle aged pee-holes you see wandering the streets wear while wacked out on illegal substances, have on. Maybe it comes with a bandana, and a pack of smokes in the cases and a coupon for $5 off a pair of doc martins.
I wonder if anyone still plays this heap?? I was MILDLY interested in the concept .. probably because of Witcher3 and the fact that CDPR was shamelessly (and I do mean SHAMELESS) selling the snake oil on this dumpster fire of a game. When I saw the festering wound that was this game when others started to play it - interest went from a mild 3/10 to a -10/10. No desire to ever play this outside of curiosity.
I realize they have done a lot of work, but I still wouldn't even pick it up for more than $5. Developer should be ashamed of themselves then and they should never have to live that mess down.
The scam that they pulled on gamers should always be on their permanent record of shame.
When did this originally come out? I'm shocked that the developer actually spent more time on it. Seems like a pointless labor of love, as the game was terrible from what I remember.
Interested to hear impressions on this thingamabob!
I have the PSVR1 and Quest2 and while they're both good.. Inexpensive VR (in comparison to PCVR) needs to have move on from indie cartoon-world looking games.
(Disclaimer - PSVR has a number of realistic based visual games, but YMMV with the PS4).
I'm looking forward to seeing PC quality VR in a console!
@zebric21 Digital Foundry and others have tested loading speed on the SSDs of both machines and shown negligible difference. If a PS5 game is particularly fast loading (moreso than normal), it may be down to how the developers implement the load process, as hardware-wise, it doesn't seem to be that different.
Canada here. I'll take the $20 MSRP price increase of a PS5 over the $130 MSRP price increase of the Meta Quest2 anyday.
(I bought a Q2 before the increase, but not as lucky with a PS5 .. quick check on Walmart.ca shows they allow scalpers on their store to sell PS5s at $1000 or more. FU Walmart, I'll just have to wait until PS5s are on shelves as they should be)
Built on Unreal Engine 5, but it's on old PS4 and clunky Xbox One?
The Unreal 5 news seems a bit sus based on the platforms its coming out on.
And the game - as a game - looks like something I'm just not interested in, anyway. I'm too busy to play a MP game and not have the ability to pause or place the console in suspend mode and come back when it's convenient. I just am not interested in MP games unless it's not serious and I can drop out anytime I choose and not have someone rely on me for their session.
Tales was one of the most enjoyable TTG stories. I totally avoided it bc I thought it would be meh.. and when I played it from a sale, it was witty, funny, well written and enjoyable from beginning to end. A new TFTBL game and a new Wolf Among Us too! Happy to play these story based titles!
Honestly, I don't see the point of this remake of a remaster of a ps3 game. Great game, but honestly... stop putting development cycles into milking old stuff unless it's DRASTICALLY different (like PS4 Shadow of the Colossus was compared to it's PS2 version).
NEW games are what we need. Makes you wonder whether there is any polling, sampling or any testing of the waters to see if these development decisions are a big waste of time and money.
Just started playing it and I'm losing interest. I don't know how far I am into the beginning of the game.. feels like I've been playing over an hour, but that can't be. I'm just at the part where I'm infinitely platform jumping while arrows point in the direction I'm supposed to go. It's really dragging on and it's pretty boring so far... I had to shut the PS4 off as I was starting to feel a little irritated as I had expected more of a "grab" to pull you into the game at the beginning. So far, I'm not syncing with the game at all.
..I'll take a break and maybe try again tomorrow.

Is there a resurgence of the cartoon planned as well?
I remember the game was fun - but today's audience has little reference point. So without anchoring it in some kind of reference in current culture, it's as curious a game decision as that Gollum one.
Re: NBA 2K23 Has a Frightening 143GB Install Size on PS5
@huyi Well.. it doesn't take an einstein to figure out it was a cost initiative. These ultra fast SSDs are quite expensive - the Series S still rocks a small 500Gb storage to keep it's costing down.
Re: Callisto Protocol Features 'The Most Realistic Characters You'll See in a Game', Says Dev
Re: Callisto Protocol Features 'The Most Realistic Characters You'll See in a Game', Says Dev
I found this article pretty funny
"“Our enemies aren't the undead, they aren't aliens, they're mutated humans.
Re: Rumour: Ubisoft to Announce Multiple Assassin's Creed Games, Including One Set in Japan
Re: Grey PS5 Console Cover, Controller, and Headset Revealed by Sony
@OrtadragoonX Wise choice. I don't think your comment was meant to offend at all, but just reading that will give some people a really, really bad feeling. Best to move on.
Re: Grey PS5 Console Cover, Controller, and Headset Revealed by Sony
Brilliant color scheme. Looks like the clothing that the middle aged pee-holes you see wandering the streets wear while wacked out on illegal substances, have on. Maybe it comes with a bandana, and a pack of smokes in the cases and a coupon for $5 off a pair of doc martins.
Seriously Sony. Who makes your decisions?
Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.6 Adds Transmog, New Character Customisation, Out Now
I wonder if anyone still plays this heap??
Re: Mini Review: The Tomorrow Children: Phoenix Edition (PS4) - New Improvements Can't Fix Everything
When did this originally come out? I'm shocked that the developer actually spent more time on it. Seems like a pointless labor of love, as the game was terrible from what I remember.
Re: PSVR2 Playable for the First Time at TGS 2022
Interested to hear impressions on this thingamabob!
I have the PSVR1 and Quest2 and while they're both good.. Inexpensive VR (in comparison to PCVR) needs to have move on from indie cartoon-world looking games.
(Disclaimer - PSVR has a number of realistic based visual games, but YMMV with the PS4).
I'm looking forward to seeing PC quality VR in a console!
Re: Poll: How Much Would You Pay for the DualSense Edge PS5 Pro Controller?
I saw the words "PS5 Pro" in the article and wondered.. how long until we see one of those?
Re: PS5 Price Increase Confirmed for UK, Europe, Japan, Canada, and More
@zebric21 Digital Foundry and others have tested loading speed on the SSDs of both machines and shown negligible difference. If a PS5 game is particularly fast loading (moreso than normal), it may be down to how the developers implement the load process, as hardware-wise, it doesn't seem to be that different.
Re: PS5 Price Increase Confirmed for UK, Europe, Japan, Canada, and More
Canada here.
FU Walmart, I'll just have to wait until PS5s are on shelves as they should be)
Re: The First Descendant Flexes Its Unreal 5 Muscles in New Reveal Trailer
Built on Unreal Engine 5, but it's on old PS4 and clunky Xbox One?
The Unreal 5 news seems a bit sus based on the platforms its coming out on.
And the game - as a game - looks like something I'm just not interested in, anyway. I'm too busy to play a MP game and not have the ability to pause or place the console in suspend mode and come back when it's convenient. I just am not interested in MP games unless it's not serious and I can drop out anytime I choose and not have someone rely on me for their session.
Re: New Tales from the Borderlands Arrive on 21st October for PS5, PS4
Tales was one of the most enjoyable TTG stories. I totally avoided it bc I thought it would be meh.. and when I played it from a sale, it was witty, funny, well written and enjoyable from beginning to end. A new TFTBL game and a new Wolf Among Us too! Happy to play these story based titles!
Re: You Can't Afford This Amazing Nathan Drake Statue
That's the price of a scalper's PS5 !!
Re: Video: 30 Facts You Need to Know About The Last Of Us Remake on PS5
Honestly, I don't see the point of this remake of a remaster of a ps3 game. Great game, but honestly... stop putting development cycles into milking old stuff unless it's DRASTICALLY different (like PS4 Shadow of the Colossus was compared to it's PS2 version).
NEW games are what we need. Makes you wonder whether there is any polling, sampling or any testing of the waters to see if these development decisions are a big waste of time and money.
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Stray?
Just started playing it and I'm losing interest. I don't know how far I am into the beginning of the game.. feels like I've been playing over an hour, but that can't be. I'm just at the part where I'm infinitely platform jumping while arrows point in the direction I'm supposed to go. It's really dragging on and it's pretty boring so far... I had to shut the PS4 off as I was starting to feel a little irritated as I had expected more of a "grab" to pull you into the game at the beginning. So far, I'm not syncing with the game at all.
..I'll take a break and maybe try again tomorrow.
Re: Find Out if The Lord of the Rings: Gollum Is Preciousss from 1st September on PS5, PS4
Looks slow, tedious and boring af.
If anybody suffers from insomnia, this will put them right to sleep.
