You will never see love and pride in someone's collaborative creation like this with those crap-hole companies like EA. People like THIS guy and his team need to have the freedoms and budgets to make their games come to fruition rather than the churned out garbage that Ubisoft and EA cram together. It's a shame that the real people who love games in THOSE companies don't work for an organization like the one Cory and company are allowed to be part of.
@AFCC Your problem does sound like a heat problem.. where the clock speeds are throttled back to avoid overhearting (laptops do this as their cooling is limited). Throttling will slow down your PS4s operation and create FPS drops. It may be that you still have more dust in the PS4, or more likely - the thermal paste which transfers the heat away from the CPU has become brittle and is not pulling enough heat out. It may be a time for a new PS4. You may not want to spend the extra for the Pro, but the slims are considerably less power hungry than the OG models, and you would literally be saving cost on electricity (unless someone else pays that).
No duh, its not going to be released in 2018. They're not even going to announce it it in 2018. Sony doesn't want to interrupt its already strong PS4 sales, not to mention making the PS4 Pro even more pointless (the XB1X is also pointless in this generation). Mind you I have a Pro and VR, and while it does have enhancement in some games, and a few VR titles.. I admit that it is an irrelevant product which competes with it's own little brother. The mid-generational consoles really didn't do much more than fill a small gap while waiting for the next big things.. which will probably be announced late in 2019 and aim for a 2020 holiday season.
@Yowza Zelda BOTW says Hi. So does Last Guardian, and Ratchet and Clank, and Horizon Zero Dawn, and Knack. and any Telltale game.. and etc.. It's pretty common, and I am surprised you have never played a game with this single master save file before, it often feels like the bane of my existence.. so I am thinking that's a lot of games you have not played.
While I like these types of games (ie: Elder Scrolls series), I watched the opening of this and oh my lord. There is a FPS run where you ride the horse for what seems like 5+ minutes staring at the back of its bobbing head, in the most un-fun entry into a game story ever. This may have been what Constable_What was talking about... who thought this would be a good way to launch people into their game? Coupled with an apparent anal-retentive approach to realism (and all the boring mandatory things that are removed from other games), and the lack of any fantasy or magic aspect.. it just seems like a well thought out invitation to put you to sleep.
Disappointing, as I would like a companion IP to the Elder Scrolls medieval setting, but this is far from it. AND hearing about the giant patch requirement. Should have been delayed until they had their big bugs worked out.
The media-reported problems, as well as the limited appeal of a non-fantasy detail oriented medieval game in todays gamespace.. I would not be surprised if it end up in the $20 bargain bin in a few months like Andromeda did.
@andrew20 Ha! I bought 3 Dreamcasts! One at it's original price and 2 more when they discontinued them and EBGames was selling them at $40 for unopened units. I would like to see Sega explore new visions for some of their most beloved titles like Jet Set Radio, Phantasy Star, Ecco, Panzer Dragoon, Nights, etc etc. I remember seeing that Sega was considering using their classic IPs again. About a year ago this was in the news, but I don't recall anything coming from that except more Sonic games. :
While it could very well be a fun enough game... Sega has so many unique IPs which came out of their past, yet all they keep peddling is Sonics. What happened?
I recently purchased Minecraft Story Mode on sale, and I have played most of the Telltales story-games, and have enjoyed most of them. Having said that, I am really struggling to get through Minecraft Story Mode. It's slow, plodding and has no interesting story or plot points so far (I am mid through the 3rd chapter). The characters are bland, the dialogue suffers from severe pacing problems. It's sooo boring. What I am getting to - is that I completely believe 5/10 for this extension of the game. If the 1st 3 episodes of the original game are this slow and sleepy.. it is a bit of a surprise that they did a second game. AND judging by the fact that here it is Jan 14, and I am the only commenter.. nobody cares. Kudos to you Simon for drinking enough coffee to get through the game.
Seriously.. you need to open up a big book on animals. Trico no more looks like a bird than he looks like a cat. It's a GriffinDog for pete's sake. Do I have to tell you everything?
It was a beautiful looking world in comparison to all those bare-bones looking 3DS games, but the gameplay felt frustratingly clunky to me. It may have been the weapons and how they make the character move that was the problem.. but it was enough of a turn off to not make new characters and try different weapons. I like fast, responsive fighting and this did not feel that way. Also, I hope we eventually stop seeing poor collision detection with the monsters and your character. Why do I still disappear inside the body of the monsters when I am faming them? The OG game on the PS2.. okay, I understand that game having that issue, I guess the PSP, curiously still in the 3DS games..but still on the PS4??
I have no fukin idea what was going on and I loved the fact that I didn't. I felt the same way when I played the OG Silent Hill on the PSX (and Silent Hill2 slightly less so) and I want a quality game that fascinates, rivets and confuses me again. They are rare, but this looks like it has that feel. Awesome.
@Storytime7 Aren't you complaining about the same thing you state you would purchase "day one"? Confusing, but I do agree, Spyro done right would be a nice addition to the remastered retro library. Spyro was whored out to some really lousy games time and time again. The charm of the originals were lost.
Brilliant. This was one of the unsung heros of the PSX era. I mean it was genuinely funny, and like a Tim Burton meets Terry Pratchett halloween special. Glad to see they are keeping the mumbling Sir Fortesque intact (as opposed to the talking one in the not-so-good Medievil 2). Part of the humour was that we could not understand him, but everyone else could, despite missing a bottom jaw. Looking forward to this one.
@RedMageLanakyn I can't see how anyone would want to play Skyrim on the switch in Portable mode unless you had to take a turd and could not pause it... I was playing Skyrim on my 10" tablet and while it was viewable.. it was not a good experience. I can't see how it would be even tolerable on a 6" screen. Mind you, I always have my switch in the dock, so maybe I am biased for bigger screens.
Skyrim wasn't an ugly game.. it was not state of the art by any means, but it had its moments of decency. Personally looking forward to playing this on PSVR and Pro. The fantasy world of skyrim seems fascinating to be "in" in psvr. Just let me avoid being hit by a giant early on. I imagine that would be barf-o-rama. Speaking of the Pro.. howcome these previews never say which model of PS4 they are playing on?? There could be a visual downgrade on the base PS4 vs. the Pro. It would be nice to hear what machine they let you play on with your impressions.
@SKC_Diamond Thanks! Well that is Shocking! I wonder if that is being handled by the Cell SPUs and then rendered out through the GPU at 1080p? You know, that makes the PS4 Pro 4K discussion even more redundant doesn't it??! A supersampled 4K->1080p image on PS4 would look identical to the PS3 one. Very interesting!
@SKC_Diamond I doubt that. Source? 4K was not a residential resolution back in 2012 and if the 256Mb video memory of the PS3 even supported 4K in a memory buffer running at 60fps - well lets say it would be outright shocking for it to even support that resolution at 60fps. Additionally, the Reality Synthesizer in the PS3 is based around the Nvidia 7800GTX. It has a rendering resolution of 2048 x 1536.
Curious addition.. the PS3 version had:
60fps
1080p
Enhanced textures & filters.
Move support.
$20.00
*FREE for PS Plus in April 2013.
... how are they going to top this on the PS4? Use the DS4 touchpad to draw the brushstrokes? Have it render in 4K on PSPro (honestly, the gfx are broad japanese brush strokes and 1080p will look the same as the same images in 4k). The only unusual addition would be an option to play it in PSVR like The Lost Bear where you sit in a 3d theatre and play it on a stage in front of you. But.. see if it still sits at $20. !!!
For me.. yes. Yes it was. The whole thing felt so repetitive and all I was doing was button mashing until I eventually deleted it off my hard drive in anger. Before that, I gave it a rest and tried to go back to it. I fell asleep while playing it twice. FELL ASLEEP. ?? My god.. so boring and repetitive. The graphics looked like a saturday morning CGI kids show though, so I guess it had that.
Good grief. How do the male protagonists ever get anything done? With the costumes their gameworld females wear, you would have only one thing on your mind.. always. Boing!
I expect this will be a "VR timed exclusive" and will later drop with no VR. Having said that, I have the headset and am reallly looking forward to being in this. RE7 on VR was terrifying & I think I only would have found it tense at best on my plain old flatscreen.
Hey - so a more powerful machine has some improvements. A PC with a GTX 1070 allows for better top visuals than a GTX 1060. I get it. In the meantime, that PC still has a GTX 1060. Look, the Pro has a lesser GPU, but it still has a damn improved one over the base PS4. I also have PSVR, and I am enjoying the improved resolution and clarity over my Base PS4. The Xbox1X has no VR tech at this moment & Sony is droppig the PSVR price. I love the Pro and my ecosystem with all these wonderful PS4 Pro exclusive visual improvements - games that the Xbox ecosystem will not have. The XboxOneX is a damn fine machine, and it is more powerful than the P4Pro... but it is not leaps and bounds more powerful, and the P4Pro does an excellent job on its own. I do love nice new tech, but I will wait until the PS5 before I upgrade again. Getting a XB1X, but for what? Rebuying the same multiplat games I already own so I can replay them again? Or build a new library going forward so that the new PS5 and XB2 can come and make them obsolete again.
Yeah.. I get it. It is more powerful, but I have no need of an upgrade like that at this time. Lets see how much bigger, better the new consoles will be - just around the corner.
No. No there is not. I just played some FO4 on my base PS4. My last save loaded up was in front of the Mass Fusion building. It was chugging at like 20-22 fps at most. Now if they did Fallout 3 or New Vegas, I am sure that would run at a dual 60fps nooo problem on the PSVR.. But FO4.. not with the version creation engine that is running on it now.
One more comment - just read through the whole community comments here. LOL.. Boy, a lot of hate for PushSquare on this one. Do you do a lot of FFXV hate pieces?? The article seems more to be poking fun at it - which I get - and I think it could have been made to be actually funny and not a hate-on article if you wanted it to be.. but the headline is a pure hate propaganda and "clickbait" for sure. By contrast, other sites have mentioned "Assassins Creed DLC" somewhere in the title - but this one is "Just when you thought FFXV couldnt get any stupider."
...Pure clickbait piece. I agree with the overwhelming consensus of the community. Lets grow up a little shall we?
yeah, its goofy, but hey- if its just for fun, its optional whether you want to use it or not, and its free - then who cares? Pushsquare- kinda harsh with the XV hate there.
Looks great. Have not played MH since the PS4. Tried on the PSP and the 3ds, but the small screens and wonky camera were not comfortable for such a game IMHO. One thing that always got me about MH is - MY GOD - who designed these weapons in this world?? Nerf? The weapons are ginormous and have powerful looking animations, but the enemies act as if you are throwing nerf-balls at them. That small iguana-like enemy in the video should have been dead after the first barrage of hits. I realize that its fun to have longer encounters, but I found them much too (& unrealistic) long and frustrating in the versions I played.
@Bobobiwan Skyrim will be one of the defining games for this headset. One thing I am always amazed at is the finite clarity of objects you are holding when you bring them up to your face in VR. Its like they are really there, and a marvel to see how 3d items in actual "reality". The variety of items, spells and weapons you hold will probably fascinate me for hours just looking at them all. lol
@MidnightManiac - I bought DirtRally on sale.. it was the only game beside Rigs, that made me nauseous (I do not own Driveclub tho). I didn't spend too much time with it mind you, as the feeling and the muddy, low-res feel inside the first car you get, turned me off. Many people like it though, so your mileage may vary. Also, I never tried it on my Pro, so I don't know if it runs at a higher res on it. That might help..
It is a great kit. I can tell you that my PS4 Pro has some significantly improved visuals, in terms of clarity and sharpness, over my OG PS4 (depending on developer support for their game of course). So for any VR enthusiasts who still have a non-pro.. the investment is well worth it. Also, the base headset has often been on sale in various sites (amazon, bestbuy, EBgames) for months here in Canada. I assume this is for an upcoming official price cut, so hopefully everyone can get this cheaper soon.
This is the PS2 Classic? So its running through their emulator then.. while its good at times, rarely does the PS2 emulation hit 60fps, let alone 1080p on the games I bought. FPS dips are to be expected.. the PS2 is not an easy machine to emulate without decent power.. and the jaguar cores in the PS4 do not make powerful number-crunchers.
I bought it when Amazon had it for $15, and it still sits unopened. It seemed like a bargain, and when I get really bored and have nothing else to play, I will unwrap it and try it. Dunno when I will have nothing else to play tho.. so much backlog...
How about PS2's FXII - it looked so good, all you need is the PS2 to PS4 emulator's upscaler and ita an instant buy at $15.. oh right.. Squenix pretty much upscaled it and now sells it for $50. It would have been much better as a "PS2 Classic"
You guys saw something different. It started out with a guy walking. Then stopping. Then walking. Then stopping. Then walking.. then st.. I fell asleep. When I woke up there was a big fire. Maybe I'm getting too old to watch this stuff...
With all the games I have on my back-catalogue, any new $60 ($80 canadian) release better be way worth it before I buy it. Some are for sure! - but this.. online focused?? Bah.. the competition will be stiff with overpowered cars, lots of mic trash talking and people just being dicks and driving backwards on a course just to make themselves laugh. No thanks.. online should be a component of a game, not the focus. This could be GT's first flop (not mentioning the PSP's car-collecting game here).
@MrHeed.. surprised you are the only one who mentioned this.. yes the PS2 Classics are running on an emulator - which upscales and has higher framerates in some cases. The Jaguar CPU cores are not very strong and PS2 emulation requires some CPU punch, so you don't see it at 60fps, but its better than the PS2. That being said, you won't see the emulator in firmware - sony wants you to buy PS2 games on their network, not pop your own discs in its console.. where's their profit in that?
Sounds like Dion can use the money, and saw an opportunity to get some.. right or wrong. But.. I cannot feel sorry for Zenimax. They sure have been dicks in the past. Hope Dion gets some cash.. at 77, he probably needs it.

yeah, its goofy, but hey- if its just for fun, its optional whether you want to use it or not, and its free - then who cares? Pushsquare- kinda harsh with the XV hate there.
Re: Gamescom 2017: Monster Hunter: World Is the Real Deal in Direct PS4 Gameplay
Re: Gamescom 2017: PlayStation VR's Going Really Well, Says Sony
@Bobobiwan Skyrim will be one of the defining games for this headset. One thing I am always amazed at is the finite clarity of objects you are holding when you bring them up to your face in VR. Its like they are really there, and a marvel to see how 3d items in actual "reality". The variety of items, spells and weapons you hold will probably fascinate me for hours just looking at them all. lol
Re: Gamescom 2017: PlayStation VR's Going Really Well, Says Sony
@MidnightManiac - I bought DirtRally on sale.. it was the only game beside Rigs, that made me nauseous (I do not own Driveclub tho). I didn't spend too much time with it mind you, as the feeling and the muddy, low-res feel inside the first car you get, turned me off. Many people like it though, so your mileage may vary. Also, I never tried it on my Pro, so I don't know if it runs at a higher res on it. That might help..
Re: Gamescom 2017: PlayStation VR's Going Really Well, Says Sony
It is a great kit. I can tell you that my PS4 Pro has some significantly improved visuals, in terms of clarity and sharpness, over my OG PS4 (depending on developer support for their game of course). So for any VR enthusiasts who still have a non-pro.. the investment is well worth it. Also, the base headset has often been on sale in various sites (amazon, bestbuy, EBgames) for months here in Canada. I assume this is for an upcoming official price cut, so hopefully everyone can get this cheaper soon.
Re: Video: Here's How Jak & Daxter Scrubs Up on PS4
This is the PS2 Classic? So its running through their emulator then.. while its good at times, rarely does the PS2 emulation hit 60fps, let alone 1080p on the games I bought. FPS dips are to be expected.. the PS2 is not an easy machine to emulate without decent power.. and the jaguar cores in the PS4 do not make powerful number-crunchers.
Re: Dystopian Survival Game We Happy Few Swallows a PS4 Pill in 2018
They have to be on 60s drugs to sell it at that price! Great way to ensure that you fail in your indie game.
Re: Poll: 1 Year Later, What Are Your Thoughts on No Man's Sky?
I bought it when Amazon had it for $15, and it still sits unopened. It seemed like a bargain, and when I get really bored and have nothing else to play, I will unwrap it and try it. Dunno when I will have nothing else to play tho.. so much backlog...
Re: Feature: 41 PS2 Classics That Must Come to PS4
How about PS2's FXII - it looked so good, all you need is the PS2 to PS4 emulator's upscaler and ita an instant buy at $15.. oh right.. Squenix pretty much upscaled it and now sells it for $50. It would have been much better as a "PS2 Classic"
Re: Phew! Naughty Dog Debuts Tasty Uncharted: The Lost Legacy Gameplay
Agree Rob. I am skimming to see some of the locales, but not watching the gameplay. I will experience it when it comes out.
Re: City Shrouded in Shadow Continues to Look Like the Best PS4 Game Ever
You guys saw something different. It started out with a guy walking. Then stopping. Then walking. Then stopping. Then walking.. then st.. I fell asleep. When I woke up there was a big fire. Maybe I'm getting too old to watch this stuff...
Re: Gran Turismo Sport May Be in for a Tough Ride
With all the games I have on my back-catalogue, any new $60 ($80 canadian) release better be way worth it before I buy it. Some are for sure! - but this.. online focused?? Bah.. the competition will be stiff with overpowered cars, lots of mic trash talking and people just being dicks and driving backwards on a course just to make themselves laugh. No thanks.. online should be a component of a game, not the focus. This could be GT's first flop (not mentioning the PSP's car-collecting game here).
Re: PSN Name Changing, PSone Classics, Wishlists? We Don't Buy These PS4 Firmware 5.0 Rumours
@MrHeed.. surprised you are the only one who mentioned this.. yes the PS2 Classics are running on an emulator - which upscales and has higher framerates in some cases.
Re: Sony Is Finally Releasing a Special Edition PS4 Pro
@rjejr They will cost that much! .. well, at least the ones you can actually get your hands on from sleazy scalpers.
Re: Sonic Forces Finds the Reason with Cheesy Theme Tune
Horrible. Not that Sonic has needed anymore stank mind you.
Re: Bethesda Owner ZeniMax Is Being Sued Over Fallout 4 Ad
Sounds like Dion can use the money, and saw an opportunity to get some.. right or wrong. But.. I cannot feel sorry for Zenimax. They sure have been dicks in the past. Hope Dion gets some cash.. at 77, he probably needs it.
