@Lavalera I think the ability to just dip and check out another location if you hit a bit of a wall then come back later makes a huge difference to elden ring difficulty vs other souls games. Maybe start with a high vigor/stamina starting class and then build in a bit of magic later.

@Th3solution Kena is a lovely looking game, you can tell its made by a studio with huge animation experience, despite it being there first game. How are you finding the combat? There are a couple of bosses in that game that on normal, gave me more of a tough time than most of the bosses in elden ring! God knows what the ultra hard difficulty is like??

Today I'm out with the family but got to play some shredders revenge, FIFA and Tony Hawk with a buddy local play last night. Man that TMNT session was a crazy nostalgia blast to the early 90s and endless hours playing golden axe and streets of rage 1 and 2!! It has fun specials and plenty choices for combos if your deliberate but also fun to button mash. Very much hoping that there is a copy of sifu coming my way for fathers day tomorrow! Have a great weekend folks

Re: PS Plus Collection's Resident Evil 7: Biohazard Won't Upgrade to PS5 for Free

R1spam

@SolaceCreed we can agree to disagree, the games I get with plus are why I remain subscribed as I mainly play single player games. They are not freebie add-ons for a reasonable number of folks.
@naruball OK, I take that point. However, when a game comes with plus, it's marketed as that game. There's no branding/disclaimer that says it's a lesser version of the game or different retail sku. So in that context when you add it your library, you own it.

Re: Resident Evil 2 (PS5) - A Cheap and Fairly Cheerful Upgrade

@Reeneman apologies, I know it doesn't boost the framerate but as you say, makes dips in frames above 40ish fps harder to see. Was interested to see whether it made a difference in this unsupported game. I switched this mode on for elden ring (also unsupported) for my LG b9 and in some areas, it made a real difference to observable dips and frame pacing.

Finally popped the platinum trophy for elden ring last night, truly one of the best open world games ever made! Down for something smaller next, trying to decide between chicory and trek to yomi. All of those plans might go out the window though as I've discovered vampire survivors, I've only done 3-4 runs but man that game is moreish!

Re: PS Plus Members in Asia Irate As Sony Wipes Discounts on Tier Upgrades, Demands Upfront Fee for Stacked Subs

R1spam

You need mindshare to start a subscription service up, microsoft practically posted advice about how to upgrade to gamepass ultimate when released and the best deal to do that. If they continue down this road, the service will never recover. Get people into the service at the higher level and then only a small number will cancel come renewal time. Now people will hold on to their stacked essential tier subs and not dip for their higher service tiers. Every time sony make a decision just now, it feels like your only ever 2 weeks away from a Jim Ryan "we are sorry and we hear you " post.

Re: Sony Shares First Look at PS Plus Extra, Premium Games

Hmm, got to wait for the full list but there are a couple of interesting choices. Spiderman isn't goty edition and doesn't have ps5 version and uncharted 4/lost legacy are the ps4 versions, not a ps5. Otherwise they have thrown a fair bit of newer ps5 content on in miles morales, demon souls and returnal.

It's a juggernaut with families. Nearly all my friends with kids have one. Only one has another console. In my daughters class, about half the kids have a switch in their house. The family friendly component of Nintendos brand is often overlooked.

Re: Mini Review: Unpacking (PS5) - Making Chores Fun

It's a cracking little experience, if anyone played Florence it definitely has some of that energy. The sound design is pretty amazing, anything you drop will have a different sound depending on the surface you drop it in. The pixel art is great, though it can be hard to make out some items and decide where they go.

Have been smashing through some bosses in elden ring, just beat the full-grown Fallingstar beast and the lichdragon fortissax this morning and managed another shardbearer last night. My copy of lego star wars the skywalker saga arrives this avo and looking forward to some family friendly gaming fun. Have a good one folks!!

Re: Embracer Group to Buy Multiple Square Enix Studios and IPs in Huge Acquisition

R1spam

In the current market, this seems like a steal! Square seems in such a strange place, the weird AA to indie level games they showed at the last sony showcase, inability to manage western studios both under square and as a publisher (the outriders team didn't even know how many copies of their game had sold, the mess they made of hitman for IO never mind saying any western studio game underperformed) and letting some really valuable IP go for a cheap deal. Microsoft or Sony would have surely paid double or treble that!

I've been playing some more elden ring and found my way to Volcano manner. Still blown away by how unique all of the areas feel. Playing some more tunic also, it's rock hard, perhaps too hard but the sense of discovery is just so good. @gollumb82, I'd be interested to hear how you get on with state of mind. I've seen it on deep sale on switch a few times and the art style looks great but have just never pulled the trigger

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 421

@LN78 it has a couple of similarities to deaths door with regards to exploration and maybe even the wider world structure but for me, even as someone who really enjoyed deaths door, tunic has so much more going on in terms of trying to get to grips with the world and mechanics. I'm maybe only 5-6 hrs into tunic so things might change, but it's mechanical discovery, world exploration along with the visuals and music put it right beside hollow knight my favourite indie ever.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 421

I'm taking a break from elden ring for a weekend and exploring the atlas plateau and nokron to play some more tunic and some guardians of the galaxy. Tunic constantly amazes me with how both mechanics and locations can be obsficated in plain sight. Guardians has surprisingly decent writing and looks gorgeous. I say it often, there's probably never been a better time to be a gamer. Happy weekend folks

Re: Sci-Fi PS5 Exclusive Returnal Sweeps the BAFTAs, Wins Best Game

Well done housemarque! I never did another playthrough for act 3 but despite finding the structure of the rogue-lite bits unforgiving, I still think the moment to moment gameplay is up with the very best. It's more amazing it's that studios first full 3d game! I can't wait to see what they do next

Re: PS Now Members Get Four More PS4 Games This Month

@nessisonett it's great, avoid guides and just go in cold. If I could pick one game to be scrubbed from my memory to play it again like the first time, this is it! I keep meaning to play the dlc but the ending was so good, I don't want to spoil anything by going back to it.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 420

I played some guardians of the galaxy, it looks amazing and very different to the two other games I'm playing, elden ring and tunic. I'm in a bit of a lull with elden ring, though I got a cool magical katanna I need a couple more int points to try out. Tunic is amazing, I'm constantly surprised about how much they have hidden in plain sight, so man secrets in terms of areas, loot and mechanics.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Elden Ring?

R1spam

I'm only 15 hrs in to what might be a 70-80 hr experience but as it stands, it's a 10. There are performance issues, I went through a foggy area last night and it wasn't fallout 4 far harbour bad, but it wasn't good. Dips as well as issues with frame pacing in a cross gen game on a ps5 ain't great. Nonetheless the sense of discovery combat system and enemy variety are staggering. I still can't figure out whether I prefer bloodborne or not though but it's one of the best open world games I've played and hopefully inspires others as they design game worlds in the future

Re: Poll: Did You Buy Elden Ring?

R1spam

Yeah I've dropped a couple of hours and am willing myself to go to bed as I'm working this weekend. There's something about coming across a little dungeon in the world or an npc out of nowhere that's fantastic.
