Having 4 Trails games scheduled be localised over the next two years give me hope that we are catching up. Even if the latest isn’t among them.

Scarlet Nexus was not on your list. It’s my second favourite PlayStation game of the year so far.

It’s happened before with saints row gat out of hell and assassins creed freedom cry. Both of which were DLC’s meant to be played after completing the main campaign. I suspect this will be as offputting for people trying it at those two were.

Tears of Avia just came out so I’ll be trying that out. Since it’s been awhile since I played a SRPG.

The way they have rapidly grown through acquisitions makes it hard to discern their true value. But it’s always worrying when so many studios get grouped together. If something goes wrong a lot of developers are going to go down.

The PS5 is certainly doing well but that rapidly growing switch install it’s certainly going to be tempting to developers choosing their lead platform in 2022.

It’s starting to feel like the cross gen period is going to be very long With the weakest of the last gen the systems remaining the best seller in terms of install base growth.

Creating digital scarcity where less people get to enjoy something and pay more it’s a bad thing as far as I’m concerned.

Sad to hear we won’t get another game for them for awhile. But if what they had wasn’t fun it needs to be cancelled regardless of sunk costs. It’s not that uncomment. About a third of game project ending cancellation. Hard to know whether something will work until you’ve built it and that is expensive to do.

Great game but I’ve already beaten it and established I’m not getting the platinum.

It’s impressive how the latest PS4 games running on PS5 are getting closer and closer to PS5 quality. I can’t remember that happening before in any previous generations.

It’s a pity they stopped the PS2 classic program when they did. So many great PS2 games that aren’t available on PS4.

Normally we would expect a price cut and a superslim model at this point. As it stands for PS4 is a low end console with a mid tier price. Making its bad value at the current time.

If when when supply constraints end if they do do the final superslim at a low price it might sell more to the budget orientated low end.

I stopped after I lost a run to a system update. I might go back sometime now. But probably not soon.

This is very good news. Increasing both the likelihood of it being a good conversion and reducing the chance of it delaying later games.

The original plan was ninja gaiden 3 since I completed Sigma 2 last night. But I’m not like it as much as the first two it’s more action and less tactical. So maybe some cotton reboot.

@Martsmall If you buy a code from the right retailer at the right time the cheapest PlayStation now was last year with £32.75. Not quite game pass level but close.

I kind of expected the cotton reboot to be in the sale but it wasn’t. I bought it anyway since that was what I wanted to play.

Specifically in regard to Crysis 2 they have higher more stable frame rates, better resolutions, rework lighting and better textures. But I assume they’re all the same.

@Iver What’s important is having high quality games now. It matters less what happens to them in the next couple of years.

It’s a great game. Unfortunately I’ve already completed and deleted it. I won’t be going back for years.

@GorosBat I played on normal until I got to the wind area. Then switch down to story. Because I didn’t want to grind for the resources. I would need to get the items to win the boss battles.

I still had some close run boss fight after switching to the lowest difficulty.

I finish Tales of Arise last night so I’m back to Scarlett Nexus. Yuito’s story isn’t anywhere near as good as Kasane was but the combat still is fun and it’s answering some of my unanswered questions.

Really hope NIS start translating it soon rather than waiting till after they’ve completed Trails into Reverie in 2023.

@nofriendo It’s fairly common for digital only Indy games. They want the game to be available for purchase when you see review to minimise the number of people who forget about it.

It does feel like they’ve announced this early so they can recruit more effectively and build a team. As this is something different from what they normally do.

@BamBamBaklava89 Supporting the developer doesn’t come into it. the dye has already been cast as far as double fine is concerned and the fate of future games regarding PlayStation is sealed.

The only question left is is what they’re offering us worth it?

I’ll play it when I feel like it and I have a feeling that will be fairly soon.

@carlos82 it depends on the game. Whilst that maybe true for RTX games like Quake 2 RTX. They are using Nvidia proprietary technology after all. Modern raytrace titles don’t necessarily perform worse on AMD than Nvidia. Games like resident evil 8 for example.

@Ralizah There’s also marketing. I’m aware of what fatal frame is because of a demo disk that came with the PS2.

I was one of those 13 million WiiU owners but wasn’t aware of this game released.

Now it’s returning to PlayStation i’m aware of it again thanks to push square. Which bodes well for them getting the news that it exists out this time.

Following the principle of it it’s probably a PS5 release on the 3rd of August which hasn’t been selling preorders. I would think In Sound Mind would be the PS5 game.

For the additional PS4 game it’s impossible to tell due to the size of a back catalogue.

@LastSaneManOnEarth The kind of games you can run through Netflix and play with your TV remote are different from those you play with a controller on the PlayStation.

Sony put Run Sackboy Run on mobile without undermining Little Big Planet on PlayStation so I suspect a Netflix Ghost game would be substantially different from Ghost of Tsushima on PlayStation.

Still could be fun and profitable for both parties.

For me the most memorable games of those that do something that I haven’t seen before. I wouldn’t necessarily say those are better the perfect implementation of a existing formula.

Given how close we are to the previous release date and how we little we’ve seen of it compared something like death loop. I assume this has already been delayed.

@SamMR Most of the time streaming is fine but sometimes you get a timing critical thing like the voodoo woman in Sly Cooper. I blame my inability to beat her on the additional latency of streaming.

@Balosi Cyberpunk 2077 is the title you’re looking for. Self published by a Polish studio that rarely puts out games. It was pulled from the PlayStation store after less for the month. It was gone for on the PlayStation store for over 6 months. They patched it multiple times with no clear idea from Sony what they needed to do to get it back.

It was available on the Xbox throughout.

That does seem to be a psychological problem amongst consumers. They respond better to a series of time-limited sales each with slightly greater pricing reductions. Rather than permanent price cuts.

I’ve got NEO: The World Ends Pre-ordered and will play it day one. I might well pick up Hades at some point if I’m bored but I’ll get it digitally.

Psychonauts 2 and Kena are also on my radar but because their digital I’ll get them when I’m ready to play them.

@ShogunRok I think the best we can hope for is that Reverie and Kuro are different teams and being worked on in parallel. Even then I’ll be very surprised to see Kuro in 2022. If they do them in series @Areus prediction may well come true.

The older trails games are a different team and therefore not really relevant for Kuro.

2023 looks like it’s going to be a good year if nothing gets delayed.

@rachetmarvel you’re really going to want to play trails of cold steel 2 immediately after the first game. They are essentially one story with a cliffhanger. I don’t remember the second game spoiling anything but the first game didn’t.

I will definitely play these. On PlayStation if possible. But if it’s only available on the epic game store I guess I will be downloading the epic game store.

A game with misplays hype that goes down in flames can be highly profitable whereas a game that sinks silently won’t be. The way their marketing this game is completely rational even if it’s likely to upset a lot of people in the long run.

@musicologist83 I like the fact that I know I will keep the game for as long as I subscribe. With a game pass model there’s always a worry the game will disappear partway through your play through.

I suspect it will be something Kuro no Kiseki related. It would seem strange to announce a localisation at a Japanese event.

I would expect the localisation of Hajimari no Kiseki sometime in 2022. With both Zero no Kiseki and Ao no Kiseki never being localised.
