@TrickyDicky99 good for you, don't spend your money! Don't play great games, don't have great experiences because their cross gen! You stick to your principals, whilst the rest of us just enjoy ourselves!
@TrickyDicky99 Again times now are completely different, game development costs have risen massively, as have playstations R&D budget! What happened 10-20 years ago doesn't matter! Also the ps4 was not backwards compatible with the ps3 so that doesn't count. Fact remains that they decided to do cross gen games for financial reasons, to get the most revenue possible for their games. So that they can make a profit from a much bigger user base for a game like horizon and its $212 million budget. We all know you don't like that from your constant moans, still doesn't stop it from being a great, fun title and arguably still the best looking open world console game ever made. Do I wish it had been ps5 only, yes! But as a gamer I just want to play great games, games like the masterpiece that GOW ragnarok is! I can't imagine not playing these amazing games because you have some sort of mental block that being cross gen your not going to play them, because they are potentially not a good as they could have been! Anyway, back to the original point. Your first post was completely wrong, that whole list is possible on the ps4(apart from sophy, which we already knew)! GT7 is a brilliant cross gen racing game, better in my opinion than a new next gen racing game.
@TrickyDicky99 don't know and personally don't care. Different times! On the back of the massively popular ps4, and with the uncertainty of the chip shortage, Sony weren't producing the amount of ps5's that they wanted to at launch and in the first years. We all know they pivoted from the generations spiel, because the chip shortage was throwing all their plans out the window. They took the financial decision to make the games cross gen and not lose the 120 million players, many of whom couldn't get a ps5! And also don't forget that game development now goes into the 100s of millions. You don't spend that sort of money at the start of a generation if your not selling the numbers you want and have financially planned for.
I know you keep going on and on about all these games should have been next gen only. For me personally the games I've enjoyed most on my ps5 and my series x have been the cross gen ones. GT7 is a better game than forza 8, looks better and plays better. Forspoken, redfall, starfield all very mediocre games.
@Mostik your in for a treat when you experience gt7 in VR for the first time! I can't drive flat anymore, I've 180 hours in this game in VR and it still blows me away every time! I'm really looking forward to getting stuck into this update, sophy looks like it's going to be a real challenge.
@TrickyDicky99 yeah and hopefully we won't have a world wide pandemic and a massive global semiconductor shortage so Sony can make enough ps6's from day one! So the install base can be built quickly, so they don't have to take the difficult decision to make the game cross gen like they did with gt7! If for nothing else so that we don't have to listen to people constantly moaning about cross gen games!
@TrickyDicky99 and again I go back to your original post! Everything in that list is doable on the ps4, apart from sophy which is coming to the ps5 tomorrow. So your original post was wrong!
Yeah you sit around for another 4-5 years waiting for gt8, I'll just be enjoying many many hours of gt7 in VR, an incredible experience! If a games fun and immersive, I really don't care what generation it's from. But you do you.
Sounds like a really good update. Plenty to get stuck into. The new snow track should be great fun in VR. The one thing I really wanted though was delta's in VR races online! Maybe next time.
@TrickyDicky99 again I stand by my earlier post, the penalty system needs better implementation, but as PD so often does, they seem happy with it so don't seem to care.
@TrickyDicky99 who said anything about a more complex penalty system? His words were "Just a penalty system that was worth something". I have over 180 hours in online racing in gt7, the penalty system for the most part works fine 90% of the time. Doesn't need AI learning, just needs refining and better implementation in certain instances. That's all down to PD not the cpu!
I really enjoyed the terminator game by these developers, and I lost count of how many times I watched the 1st film, so its a day one for me! I'm glad they got the look and feel of the films spot on!
@TrickyDicky99 show me proof it can't? Your the one who said they couldn't implement it! Just another one of your cross gen ramblings, you probably didn't even read the list!
Please explain how the game can do dynamic weather at the Nurbergring, a 12 mile track, with rain, with 15 other online players, running at 60fps on the ps4 but can't do it at other much much smaller tracks? Same with le mans, the second biggest track in the game, dynamic weather with day/ night cycle.
You know your wrong. All in that list could be done easily if PD decided to.
I'm just stating that your first post was completely and utterly wrong! That list could be implemented into gt7, playable on the ps4 apart from sophy(which could and probably will be put into the game for the ps5!). What could be in the game if it was a ps5 exclusive is completely irrelevant!
You keep deflecting and going on about cpu and generations because you know you were wrong! I'm not debating the tech or it being a cross gen game, I'm debating that list!
@TrickyDicky99 no of course its not. But as PD don't have an AI learning penalty system, and have never mentioned having one, your point is completely pointless!
@TrickyDicky99 what are you on about? I know the ps5 is a massive jump up from the ps4. We should be, and will be getting games that would melt the ps4 and the pro! The ps5 is capable of so much more.
But that's not what this is about. This is about your first post being completely wrong. Apart from sophy all the things on that list are possible on the ps4.
They have stated themselves, they only wanted weather on the tracks where it is was a normal occurrence. You'll have to ask them why? Certainly not down to the ps4s cpu.
And the game doesn't need a penalty system with complex machine learning. Just needs a system that's fair and consistent. Something which needs tuning on gt7, but not overhauling.
@TrickyDicky99 and I'm not defending anything. Just stating your first post was completely wrong! PD haven't implemented the things on that list because PD haven't wanted to. We'll apart from the tracks, as they add them periodically.
We have no idea what PD would have put into this game had it been ps5 only. We can only guess.
@TrickyDicky99 yes weather on all tracks it can do. Please show me evidence otherwise? The game has weather on the tracks PD wanted them to have weather on. Again if the ps4 has dynamic weather across a 12 mile circuit it can handle it on any track.
The penalty system is implemented wrong. It's certainly as complex as it needs to be, just needs better tuning.
The ps4 has 16 car races, with dynamic weather, with rain, with the penalty system whilst maintaining 60fps on and offline. You would know this is you played the game.
Addition of a B-Spec Mode - yes. Gt4 gt5 and gt6 had these modes. Sophy AI - no, but it's already been tested for the ps5 by players, and can be included just for the ps5 for single player content. Ps4 not stopping this happening. multiple new tracks - yes, all tracks released and future releases work on the ps4. major change to race payouts across the board.- yes. a true customizable race HUD - yes. Dynamic Weather cycle across all tracks. - yes it could if PD added it to every track. If the ps4 can handle dynamic weather on a 12 mile circuit on and offline it can do it for any track. 24 hour day night cycle (on tracks were applicable) - yes, already in the game, just not every track and not used enough by PD. @TrickyDicky99 agreed, but what's that got to do with the original point? Everything listed by AldusRavencorn could be implemented into gt7 if PD wanted to.
@TrickyDicky99 yes I know sophy is only on ps5, that's obvious from the test they did. Doesn't mean it can't be introduced into gt7 for single player content for the ps5. Which I believe they will do.
The dynamic weather system could be implemented on all the tracks, but PD decided to only include it on tracks they thought it would be a realistic common occurrence. Nothing to do with it being a cross gen game, everything to do with PD and their weird development ideas.
I'll just add, gt sport didn't have dynamic weather. Gt7 on ps4 has it on le mans and the Nurbergring, a massive track. So again, cross gen isn't stopping those things listed being implemented.
@TrickyDicky99 all of that it's possible in GT7, the ps4 has nothing to do with it. But good for you, still banging the same drum about cross gen games. It's funny your reading articles about games you will never play.
I love this game so much in VR, 180 hours in VR which have mostly been in sport mode. Looking forward to trying out the new cars. I believe we'll be getting at least one new track and some new single player content(rumoured to be more missions). It's good that they have competition from Forza now, hopefully it will keep PD on their toes and give us even more content. My wish is a Race D that has qualifying, two mandatory tyres with dynamic weather!
@Sakai but it didn't move consoles, which is a major part of their business. The advertising was supposed to shift consoles, the hugely expensive marketing campaign highlighting the game and their consoles together shows this!
It's interesting, during all the court drama was a leeked internal email from Spencer to the MS CEO after the ps5 reveal, that he thought they had the better hardware and software and we're in a winning position! They were bullish about initial sales and wanted to win this generation! Now all of a sudden consoles don't matter anymore! GP on console has stagnated, they've admitted this. The only way to improve that is to shift as many consoles as they can. Because most console gamers/ families will never buy a gaming pc. Starfield has failed to do this!
@Sakai you can go on about pc being the main market all you like. This was a game that was massively marketed as a next generation game, a game that couldn't be made on the last gen console, a game that was going to show what xbox and its consoles could do! A game that every gamer should want to play, console or pc!
At the end of the day Xbox have released 2 consoles that cost hundreds of millions to r&d, sell at a loss, because they want people to buy them to get them hooked on GP! They spent 6 billion on Bethesda, spent many millions on advertising Starfield to get people to buy their consoles. To be in the 3rd year of your console generation and be down 35% year on year, in a market with 700 million plus people is very bad business. Maybe the Activision deal will change things around, we shall see.
@Sakai their main audience may be on PC, but the game that was so massively hyped and advertised with their consoles front and center! It was on every single xbox website, the game of a generation. They must have spent millions on advertising. For their sales to drop 35%, with no hardware problems during the games launch month, and with forza around the corner is awful. And in North America the PS5 outsold Xbox in September aswell. That's their home country(where they are strongest), with Sony releasing nothing until Oct. Personally I hope they reverse this trend, I want a strong Xbox, I want 3 consoles fighting each other. Competition is better for us gamers. My worry is MS deicide the console market is not worth it, and just become a software publisher and leave hardware behind.
@Sakai Starfield was massively marketed, its the biggest exclusive to hit the xbox in years! For the series consoles to be down 35% after less than 3 years on the market is bad whatever way you swing it. Especially with how cheaply you can get a series s with GP(both hugely advertised).
Yes you can play it on pc, it's a huge market, but that still doesn't explain why their consoles aren't selling that well. The whole phone and tablet argument makes no sense to me. By all accounts people don't stream games like Starfield to play on phones!
Don't get me wrong, I'm quite enjoying Starfield on my X. It's just not the game of the generation/ space exploration one they were promising. Its more restrictive and has more loading screens than any game I've played in years.
@Triumph741 Sony will never put the psvr2 on PC. Makes no financial sense, they make their money from software sales from the ps store, not selling the headset. Your other point on the pc can do everything, yes it can. But your going to need a monster expensive pc. I saw a review for saints and sinners 2 that with foveated rendering, the ps5 version looked better than a pc running a 4080. How much is one of them again? And a lot of games now use the tech.
Oh and as someone who played pcvr for years, the beauty of just putting a cable into the front of my ps5, starting the game and being straight into the game is a breath of fresh air. The amount of hours I used to spend trying to get project cars 2 running well makes me really appreciate GT7. And no worrying about the joy that is PC hackers! As to the lens and the sweet spot, I have no problem finding it ever. Doesn't even take seconds. You obviously don't like the tech, that's fine, go and enjoy your quest 3 and power pc to play the best games. Us peasants will just play our inferior device, get hours of enjoyment and not care what side of history were on.
Really looking forward to this game, I loved the original. Was one of the best games I played on pcvr, and this looks a big improvement. As others have said, don't understand this sites message on the games. Village/ no mans sky/ star wars/ hubris/ red matter 2/ both saints and sinners/ Synapse plus others. Sierra squad in realism mode is brilliant, and with 63 missions that you can do solo, great value for money. And that's not taking about GT7, the best most immersive game I've ever played on VR. 150 hours and counting.
@Andy22385 yeah I reckon if you live in a country with great 5g and have unlimited data, the portal could be a play anywhere device. Very interested to see what real world tests turn out like.
@Grumblevolcano yes but if you have decent WiFi the portal can play your ps5 installed games anywhere. As i understand it, you leave your ps5 in standby mode. You go to a friends/work/pub, connect to their WiFi. Turn on, it wakes up your ps5 at home and your playing your games. Now how smooth the experience is, that's going to be the question
@Grumblevolcano how do you know its useless away from home? Have you got a link to early reviews? You can play it anywhere you have good WiFi speeds. Will it have a bit more lag than in your own home? probably! Let's see what DF say when they get their hands on it. But I reckon it will be far from useless.
Sounds amazing, with this and all the content coming with 2.0 I can't wait to play this game again. And 30 hours for £25 is a bargain, maybe they are trying to make up for the original launch.
Sounds really good and a massive improvement from the release version. Though I actually played and completed it at launch, and really enjoyed it for the most part. Looking forward to starting a fresh run and enjoying 2.0 before phantom liberty drops.
Lots of massive overreaction in the comments I see. Everything single thing in my life has gone up, this doesn't surprise me at all. Lots of vocal people here, but it will be interesting to see what their subscription numbers are in a years time. My guess is not much different, the average consumer will just pay it anyway. As to the monthly games, I know saints row was not critically well received, but it still was a full priced game that came out last year. And I know I didn't play Generation Zero at launch but for PS to give it a 3 and call it dreadful is just laughable. Especially after seeing some of the high scores they have given out to some very mediocre games. The build I played was bug free, ran great, massive open world, really challenging machines to fight and it had great weather effects. And in coop was brilliant fun. No idea about the third game, but a pretty good month in my eyes.
I'll give saints row a download, was never going to spend money for it. Personally I would recommend everyone giving Generation Zero a try if you like big open world shooters. Played through the whole campaign coop with a mate and we had a blast. Some of the machines you fight are huge and take planning and fire power to take down. Hiding in houses when swarmed is the only way to survive. Liked how the story was revealed slowly through the game too. Decent month for me.
Will be interesting to see how the psvr2 visuals improve with foveated rendering. I've held off playing it on the headset because of all the negative comments.
@michaelf you can get it for £43 online. I loved the original film, game seems to capture the tone and atmosphere quite well, so will be a day one for me.
@XboxTheBestBox I hope your right about some of the games xbox have coming, will finally make my investment in my day one X worth it. I am genuinely very excited for Starfield, I have a feeling it could be special. And I'm sure hellblade 2 will be a great game. But the rest? Indiana Jones we know nothing about. Could be another redfall. Perfect dark was taken back to the drawing board, and I'd be surprised if we see that before 2026. And the outer world's 2 could be years away too.
Though I think forza will probably be a better game than gt7(as it should being next gen only), after 120 hours in gt7 vr2, racing flat screen has no appeal to me anymore.
For Sony's games in 2024, we don't know much, personally think they've been keeping a lot of secrets whilst the activision deal dragged on. Hopefully we will get some idea soon. But the thing is, whatever games we get, we know they will be quality games. Xbox has a lot to prove now. That they can keep a constant supply of great games coming, and not just GP fodder.
Oh and apart from the first few months, the Series S has been readily available in the UK. And from mid 2022 it was the same for the series x. Its not stock issues that are holding them back.
@JayJ can you show any Sony press release stating they are introducing the ps5 pro? I've seen lots of rumours and speculation but nothing from Sony themselves. And most people's best guess seems to be Xmas 2024! So you think gamers are fools for buying a console now, to play games now? That they should wait another 16 months just for the off chance the pro does come out? Plus what was the sales ratio between the ps4 and the ps4 pro? From what I understand, the pro was between 20-40% of all sales. Your average gamer/ parent had no interest in the pro model.
Looks pretty good from that short clip. The film is brilliant, if they can capture that atmosphere with the same attention to detail it might be a decent shooter. Nice for COD to have a bit of competition anyway.
Personally I really enjoyed it at launch. Just a fun experience with some great jump scares. Will definitely try it again with the updates as it is fun to replay through.
Another great month for me, plenty of games I want to try out. The value in Extra is simply amazing in my opinion. Can't recommend It Takes Two enough, a brilliant coop game.
Nice to have some new cars, but what I really want is an update for psvr2. I'm loving the online races in VR, think I've put 70 hours into them. But it really needs more info displayed, specifically the split times to the other racers.
Looks really good. If they nail the open sandbox well, and it feels like a living breathing city it could be great. I enjoyed American Fugitive so will probably give this a go.

Re: Arizona Sunshine 2 Shuffles onto PSVR2 This December, New Gameplay Revealed
Been looking forward to this since it was revealed! First one was great, this looks to be on another level!
Re: PS5 Is Running Riot in Europe, with Sales Up 175% Over Last Year
@Sakai but it didn't move consoles, which is a major part of their business.
Re: PS5 Is Running Riot in Europe, with Sales Up 175% Over Last Year
@Sakai you can go on about pc being the main market all you like.
Re: PS5 Is Running Riot in Europe, with Sales Up 175% Over Last Year
@Sakai their main audience may be on PC, but the game that was so massively hyped and advertised with their consoles front and center!
Re: PS5 Is Running Riot in Europe, with Sales Up 175% Over Last Year
@Sakai Starfield was massively marketed, its the biggest exclusive to hit the xbox in years!
Re: Preview: Arizona Sunshine 2 Could Be the Next PSVR2 Must-Buy
Re: Preview: Arizona Sunshine 2 Could Be the Next PSVR2 Must-Buy
Really looking forward to this game, I loved the original. Was one of the best games I played on pcvr, and this looks a big improvement.
As others have said, don't understand this sites message on the games. Village/ no mans sky/ star wars/ hubris/ red matter 2/ both saints and sinners/ Synapse plus others. Sierra squad in realism mode is brilliant, and with 63 missions that you can do solo, great value for money. And that's not taking about GT7, the best most immersive game I've ever played on VR. 150 hours and counting.
Re: Demand for PlayStation Portal Sky High in Japan, Pre-Orders Reportedly Sold Out
@Andy22385 yeah I reckon if you live in a country with great 5g and have unlimited data, the portal could be a play anywhere device.
Very interested to see what real world tests turn out like.
Re: Demand for PlayStation Portal Sky High in Japan, Pre-Orders Reportedly Sold Out
@Grumblevolcano yes but if you have decent WiFi the portal can play your ps5 installed games anywhere.
As i understand it, you leave your ps5 in standby mode. You go to a friends/work/pub, connect to their WiFi. Turn on, it wakes up your ps5 at home and your playing your games.
Now how smooth the experience is, that's going to be the question
Re: Demand for PlayStation Portal Sky High in Japan, Pre-Orders Reportedly Sold Out
@Grumblevolcano how do you know its useless away from home? Have you got a link to early reviews?
You can play it anywhere you have good WiFi speeds. Will it have a bit more lag than in your own home? probably! Let's see what DF say when they get their hands on it. But I reckon it will be far from useless.
Re: Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty (PS5) - Excellent Expansion Is Cyberpunk's Blood and Wine
Sounds amazing, with this and all the content coming with 2.0 I can't wait to play this game again.
And 30 hours for £25 is a bargain, maybe they are trying to make up for the original launch.
Re: Hands On: Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 Update Is an Outstanding, Game-Changing Overhaul
Sounds really good and a massive improvement from the release version. Though I actually played and completed it at launch, and really enjoyed it for the most part.
Looking forward to starting a fresh run and enjoying 2.0 before phantom liberty drops.
Re: Reaction: Has Sony Put Together the Worst PS Plus Month Ever?
Re: PS Plus Essential Games for September 2023 Announced
I'll give saints row a download, was never going to spend money for it.
Personally I would recommend everyone giving Generation Zero a try if you like big open world shooters. Played through the whole campaign coop with a mate and we had a blast. Some of the machines you fight are huge and take planning and fire power to take down. Hiding in houses when swarmed is the only way to survive. Liked how the story was revealed slowly through the game too.
Decent month for me.
Re: No Man's Sky Echoes Update Adds New Robotic Race, Improved Space Combat, Much More
@ztpayne7 Hoodie718 well I think you've both convinced me. Time to give it a go.
Re: No Man's Sky Echoes Update Adds New Robotic Race, Improved Space Combat, Much More
Will be interesting to see how the psvr2 visuals improve with foveated rendering. I've held off playing it on the headset because of all the negative comments.
Re: Dead or Alive, You Should Watch This RoboCop: Rogue City PS5 Trailer
@michaelf you can get it for £43 online.
I loved the original film, game seems to capture the tone and atmosphere quite well, so will be a day one for me.
Re: PS5 Sales Surge a Frankly Flabbergasting 244% in Europe
Re: PS5 Sales Surge a Frankly Flabbergasting 244% in Europe
@JayJ can you show any Sony press release stating they are introducing the ps5 pro? I've seen lots of rumours and speculation but nothing from Sony themselves. And most people's best guess seems to be Xmas 2024!
So you think gamers are fools for buying a console now, to play games now? That they should wait another 16 months just for the off chance the pro does come out?
Plus what was the sales ratio between the ps4 and the ps4 pro? From what I understand, the pro was between 20-40% of all sales. Your average gamer/ parent had no interest in the pro model.
Re: Revived Military FPS Delta Force Teased for PS5, PS4, Full Reveal at Gamescom's ONL
Looks pretty good from that short clip. The film is brilliant, if they can capture that atmosphere with the same attention to detail it might be a decent shooter. Nice for COD to have a bit of competition anyway.
Re: PSVR2 Rails Shooter Switchback VR Dramatically Overhauls Visuals with 8GB PS5 Patch
Personally I really enjoyed it at launch. Just a fun experience with some great jump scares. Will definitely try it again with the updates as it is fun to replay through.
Re: PSVR2 Exclusive Firewall Ultra Readies Up on 24th August
Really tempted to get this, does look good. Think I'll wait for reviews though. Wondering how it will play with a gunstock.
Re: 18 More Games Join PS Plus Extra, Premium Next Week
Another great month for me, plenty of games I want to try out. The value in Extra is simply amazing in my opinion.
Can't recommend It Takes Two enough, a brilliant coop game.
Re: Gran Turismo 7 1.35 Update Adds New Cars and Events on PS5, PS4
Nice to have some new cars, but what I really want is an update for psvr2. I'm loving the online races in VR, think I've put 70 hours into them. But it really needs more info displayed, specifically the split times to the other racers.
Re: Stunning PSVR2 Action Adventure Hubris Is Just One Week Away
Looks very very good. Will definitely be getting day one. Hopefully another great game for psvr2.
Re: GTA Inspired Isometric Police Game The Precinct Arrests PS5
Looks really good. If they nail the open sandbox well, and it feels like a living breathing city it could be great. I enjoyed American Fugitive so will probably give this a go.
