Personally think Extra is amazing value for money, especially if you were new to PlayStation. I could never justify buying Demon Souls, as not sure it wouldn't drive me crazy, but will definitely try it on the service. Same with AC Valhalla and death stranding. If Sony keep the content drops of a decent quality every month I think they could be onto a winner.
Apparently they didn't reveal the release date for GOW 2018 until January 23rd 2018, and then it released on April 20th. So still plenty of time for it to come this year. I really believe it will!
I'm happy that sony are taking this approach, their games for the most part are worth the money! I don't want to see the level of quality drop! And as someone who's also a gamepass subscriber, I'd say most of the games added in the last year have just been filler. Yes their 1st party have been getting better reviews, but I think that's more to do with a certain media bias that seems to be happening at the moment. In my opinion halo infinite was adequate at best(with the most bland open world I've seen in years), FS is a technical marvel but not much of a game(plus a massive money sink if you want the expensive other planes). And for some reason, after putting in over a 100 hours into FH4 I just didn't enjoy FH5. Might be me as a gamer, but the game just felt super flashy but ultimately flat! MS have still got to prove they can release new high quality IP's, that my series X was worth the investment.
Dualsense would get my vote too, what it adds to games just can't be matched with any other controller. First time I played wrc9 I loved that not only can you feel the gravel hitting the car, you hear it through the speaker. And the trigger/throttle changing as the engine gets damaged means you feel what's happening with the car without having to look. I have an xbox elite series 2 controller and yes it's great at what it does, and the rear paddles work well. But having played the same games on both systems, the ps5 is my multiplat of choice every time if the dualsense is used. Which to be fair, so far has been a lot. Plus I cheated and had the 4 paddle system put on the back of my one controller. And also ordered an Aim controller with their 4 paddle system which gives you the elite benefits but with the haptics/adaptive triggers and speaker added on.
Sony must have been really impressed to aquire them so early. Makes sense though if they are really sure of the games quality and the team behind it. If they'd waited until they had released the game and it became a massive hit they would have ended up paying a lot more for them. As we don't know the money being talked about is hard to say if it's the right call.
Swapping between HFW and GT7, loving them both but HFW just keeps drawing me back in, love the world they created. Both are a great showcase for the dualsense though!
@LiamCroft thanks for the great review. Already have it preloaded. One question on the dynamic weather though. I know its only on certain tracks, but is it truly dynamic? If you raced on the same circuit 10 times, would the weather be different each time? Change at different times during the races? Cheers.
Few hours into HFW and so far I'm loving it. They have some serious wizards at guerrilla games, beautiful immersive game! Then next Friday Elden Ring and then GT7 the Friday after! Not enough hours in the day!
The beauty of dedicated SOP'S, you know exactly what is going to be about. Your either interested or your not, 5, 30 or 90 mins doesn't matter if your not. Don't understand why people are mad at Sony for showcasing one of their biggest games of the year that they've sunken millions into. They can still hold other events you know.
I played through it on ps5 and really enjoyed it, 67 hour play through. Yeah it definitely has its issues but it also has some great moments. Some of the side missions were very good and I enjoyed the ending I got. Looking forward to playing through again with the next gen version and seeing what they've improved.
Played every single one, nothing ground breaking but challenging and always fun. Played SE4 campaign coop with a mate and it was great laugh. Looking forward to this.
@NEStalgia sorry I can't have a conversation with someone who calls all of Sony's big games tech demos. Just can't take you seriously. If HZD is a tech demo then so is BOTW on switch or forza h5(looks amazing but shallow as hell, with lots and lots of shiny cars thrown at you). GOW sold 19.5 million and to many is a masterpiece, if you think that's a tech demo đ¤ˇââď¸. At the end of the day, Sony should just carry on with what they are doing. Make brilliant AAA games and also spread into other types of games, which I believe they are doing right now. Xbox are pushing value like they are because they have MS bank rolling it. They don't care about gamers, they care about subs. As was pointed out in the other article, xbox hasn't even generated 70 billion in 20 years! They are going to keep buying until they dominate the market. Then we'll really see a very different gaming future. As a GP subscriber I'm under no illusion that it's not always going to be like this. They are already showing their true colours with halo and FH5, yeah the games drop day one but the DLC, add ons and the many many mircotransations are going to cost you. Anyway I think we're never going to agree so will leave it there. Be interesting to see how the future plays out. I just hope the hobby that I love is still recognisable in 10 years. Cheers.
@NEStalgia calling HFW a tech demo is just laughable! Has more variety and depth than anything MS has made in the last few years. And I say this as a series x owner that's subscribed to GP for over 2 years. Halo infinite left me very underwhelmed, even my mate who lives and breaths xbox said it was 'meh' when he finished it. A 500 million dollar game! I do agree with some of your points, and yes not having COD may lose them quite a few casual gamers and the revenue they bring. Sony are going to have to be careful going forward, but I hope they find a happy medium. So they do the big quality AAA games that they are renowned for, but also smaller fun titles that they can churn out quicker. They can't compete with MS and their almost unlimited funds, so they need to show what separates them. Be different. I'm hoping their new subscription service is the start of this. What worries me as an owner of all 3 systems is that I don't think MS are finished purchasing publishers/studios! I expect ubisoft or EA to be next, they are going to dominate the market and gamers choice is going to get smaller and smaller. And I'm still not convinced that MS can bring quality and quantity(forza h5 being the exception) to GP long term either.
@NEStalgia you see a company sitting on its laurels, I don't. I see a company that's delivered a true next gen machine, that developed a brilliant controller(xbox was very complacent here) to give us a better gaming experience. That yes is going to continue making sequels to extremely popular titles, and make the type of games that made the ps4 the success it was. To not do that would be stupid. They deliver games that the others don't. But they have already shown they trying new things, making TV and movies from their best games. Buying mobile studios and moving into the mobile market. Buying a pc porting company to expand their reach. They've stated they want to deliver more games this gen than in any other, expanding internal studios and buying more to do this. They have new ip's coming that may be completely different from the norm, we'll have to wait and see. But neither of us know what has been green lit. Designing and delivering a cutting edge VR system when the market is so small and niche is a massive gamble. One that xbox don't want to risk. I personally hope the news yesterday doesn't change their plans. Launch the new subscription service they have planned and have confidence in the titles they have in development. They won't be able to match MS for quantity and value(MS are in this for the long haul, they can afford to lose millions now for future gain) so they should stick to what they do best, quality! Panicking and trying to match Xbox, making big changes to their business model would probably be what MS are hoping they will do.
@NEStalgia you say Sony has been complacent this last few years? They have had a massively successful console launch(even with a pandemic and shortages) with in my opinion a great first year of games. We have 3 tent pole games coming this year, as well as some great 3rd party ones. They have 25 games in development, with nearly half being new ip(so could be anything). And they are going to be launching a cutting edge vr set up and make AAA games for it! If that's complacent, god knows what you'd call Nintendo the last few years with their repackaged wii and wii u games.
@Alduin I don't think this has anything to do with Sony's timed exclusives! You don't spend 70 billion to combat that, you would just do the same and spend shed loads less. This is MS really showing what it's true long term plan is, to buy as many studios/publishers as they can! To have the biggest collection of games anywhere, to make it the only place you can play your favourite games. They are looking 20-30 years ahead. I wouldn't be surprised if ubisoft is next.
@art_of_the_kill I'd also add that for me, the best version of the game is the one I played back in 2018. The one I loved and thought was a masterpiece. I don't care if PC players get a shinier version all these years later. Good for them. And of course they are going to use the benefits of the platform and make the game look as good as it can. You imagine what would have happened if they had just released the PS4 version? It would have been called a cheap PC port and review bombed!
@art_of_the_kill please explain how its at our expense without any proof? GOW was ported over by Jetpack Interactive with supervision from Santa Monica. Sony have just bought a PC port specialist to help with these ports so their main studios aren't affected. They have 25 games in development (nearly half being new ip) for the PS platform. 2022 is looking like a great year of releases for the ps5/4! Maybe their biggest yet! Last year they added more studios, made more 3rd party deals. They have even stated they want more 1st party games launched in this generation than in any other(whether that's true we will see, but they've certainly started strong). If anything id say their commitment to the PlayStation brand and our consoles is stronger than its ever been.
@Radekbejbl1 what decline? They have the hottest console/ piece of tech in the world right now. They can't keep up with the demand. And it was still out selling the ps4s launch, and that's after it was clear PC ports were happening of older titles. The average PS customer doesn't care. Last year they had their biggest two quarters in PlayStation history for revenue! Please point to the decline? I'd bet you here and now the PS5 goes on to sell more than the ps4! They could go day and date(don't think they ever will) and I still think that would happen. Like I said elsewhere, xbox is day and date and they've also have had an extremely good console launch. Not going to argue that sony doesn't have problems, but then what company doesn't?
@TheArt xbox has been day and date with PC for years and yet they've just released the fastest selling consoles in xbox's history. Sony started porting games in 2020(HZD) and have been very open that more were coming, and still they've just had their best console launch in their history! Doesn't seem to have affected demand for consoles! The average gamer likes the convenience of a single box. I've been a PC gamer for over 25 years and spent ÂŁ1000s keeping up. Now I really like that I buy a ps5, sit it next to my TV and know that for the next 6-7 years it will play any game released to the best of the developers abilities.
@Radekbejbl1 how are they devaluing their brand? Fact remains if you want to play brand new 1st party games on release you need a PlayStation console. Great that you can wait years, you have a lot of patience. Me, I'll be playing spiderman 2 or wolverine when HzFW or GT7 hit a PC. Oh and most console gamers probably don't want to spend ÂŁ1200 to ÂŁ1500 to play a game at the same level as a ps5 pushes out. And if you look on steam at the latest PC hardware survey, the 8 top graphics cards are weaker than a ps5(according to Digital foundry). GOW has sold 19 million, its reached its limit on what it can generate for Sony! This creates extra revenue and gets the brand out there to different types of gamers. I find it strange that people think Sony executives sit around thinking "how can we screw up PlayStation long term?" đ¤. That they haven't looked at the big picture and decided this is a good move for the company!
PlayStation is their biggest cash cow. The PS store on their consoles prints money for them. They are not going to do anything to jeopardise that.
@art_of_the_kill what exactly are they doing at our expense? They've bought studios that make mobile games. They've bought a studio that specialises in PC ports! These are to bring in extra revenue for the company. Not take anything away from the PS community, maybe even add people to the PS community! They've stated they have 25 games in development, nearly half being new ip for the ps5/4. We have an amazing line up of games coming this year, I'd argue its better than either MS or Nintendo. For me it's never been a better time to be a PS gamer.
@NinjaWaddleDee we don't know what the sales figures are though. HZD sold 716000 in its first month on steam, and GOW has a much higher profile, better scores and is a better port. As Arisen says, its sitting at No1 on steam at the moment, and it was no1 when preorders started. At the moment it has 62k concurrent players. I'd be amazed if it hasn't sold over 1 million by the end of the month.
@pimpjuice doesn't devalue my ps5 at all. Sony will make millions from it(it shot to the top of steam global sales in its first hour on preorder). Means more money for them to make games for us. Gets Sony's brand recognition to millions of people who don't normally buy consoles. Sony have sold nearly 20 million copies, it's made its money on console. I'm glad PC gamers get to play this masterpiece. The value of my console comes with me getting to play GOWR, GT7, HFW and the rest this year. The value of my console is that it cost a quarter of the PC spec they used for this review.
@Arnna just out of interest what type of man do you think would survive a zombie apocalypse? Society would break down completely in weeks. No power, Internet, shopping, basic supplies all gone. Kill what you can eat, fight others for what's left. I think most of today's "men" wouldn't last a month, especially from the west. Someone like deacon would have a much better chance of survival. And emoting and being all touchy feeling would probably just get you dead. The game was great, and I do wonder if they had changed deacon (but kept the writing exactly the same) and put Abbey from TLOU 2 in whether IGN and the rest would have called it a masterpiece!
@Deljo I think it comes down to the type of games Sony wants to make for the psvr2. It seems like they want to create proper full length games that will look like the next gen games we play on our 4k tvs. Games like half-life alyx(that you need a cable to play on the quest, or I believe a WiFi adapter with excellent WiFi setup). Games that take advantage of the ps5's power. For me, 1 cable is a small inconvenience for a better visual experience and more immersive games.
@BUDSclass201 it was always going to use the power of the ps5, so was never going to be wireless. They've been saying for ages it was one cable. Me personally, being wireless would have been a negative and a no buy.
@Deljo one single cable has never been a problem for me. I use a HP WMR headset and have played many many hours of all different games with no issues.
To go the quest wireless route and have a very weak CPU would make no sense when the PS5 has all that power. And for most people with normal set ups, wifi would not be a lag free experience. With the sort of tech inside the headset, with the resolution, eye tracking etc and to get 90 or 120hz you would need WiFi 6 to hope to get a smooth experience.
One cable should mean we get amazing looking games, highly detailed and a very smooth experience.
I'll also add about battery life. Apparently the quest 2 is 2 hours when hard gaming with a 2 to 3 hour charge time. I personally don't want that inconvenience, especially if your sharing it with family/ mates.
Really excited for all 3 , don't usually preorder but I know they are going to bring the quality and be brilliant games. Looking forward to sinking hours into gt7's campaign. First half of the year is stacked, Sifu, ghostwire tokyo, forspoken, stray, little devil inside đ¤. I honestly think gowr will drop in the summer. And with Sony saying they have 25 unannounced games in production I reckon the second half of 2022 and into 2023 are going to be impressive. Then add psvr2 and the games they will launch with that and Sony's going to be flying.
Great month if true. Nice way to start the year.
Just been looking at the reviews on steam for the deep rock galactic game as never heard of it. It's at overwhelming positive at 97% from 92k reviews. Says 1 to 4 player coop with completely destructible environments. Looks a blast to play and worth an install.
Just can not wait to play this game. As well as the machines, the world's just look so dense and beautiful. Looking forward to taking on the new machines, well apart from that snake one! đł
Loved playing 4 with a mate, some genuinely great gameplay moments. Looking forward to 5. I just wish they would do more missions with deadly counter snipers, something like the film 'enemy at the gates' would be awesome.
I thought forspoken looked really impressive, looking forward to that. And since I like a good coop game with my mate, I will keep an eye on that arc raiders.
I wonder what the build quality is like for that sort of money? I just wish Sony would just stick some back paddles on the standard dualsense, call it the pro model, charge me ÂŁ80-ÂŁ100 and I'd buy one.
This is just what I wanted, sign me up for tier 3! Be interesting to see the price structure. Those saying it needs to have day one 1st party releases like GP are going to be disappointed. I honestly don't think it will ever happen. Sony spends too much money on these games to be able to afford that. MS can afford to bank roll GP for years until its really sustainable, don't think Sony can. And personally I hope they don't, I'd rather have a service like this and buy their latest releases that I know are going to be high quality. If they were released onto the service day one I would worry quality would suffer! MS have yet to proof they can release high quality games over a long period(and I say this as a GP subscriber for over 2 years).
Really chuffed if true. Always wanted to try Godfall, but just couldn't bring myself to spend the money. And lego games are always fun to play with my kids.
Really pleased to see guardians do so well, hopefully this means we'll get a sequel. I love the tone, graphics, story and the banter between the characters, have laughed quite a few times. My only small gripe is the combat is just OK for me, it's fun but just controlling starlord and with his guns being like pea shooters it just seems to be missing something. Well worth the money though, hopefully we get more single player games like this.
@Martsmall I agree that sony want a slice of the pc market. They will sell millions of copies of gow2018 I reckon. I just think in my own personal opinion they will not put them day and date this gen(maybe a multiplayer game, maybe). Anyway I'm off, enjoyed the chat đđ.
@Martsmall yeah most wont, but maybe a few will, and that's sales they wouldn't have gotten. Plus people seem under the impression that just because there are a billion pcs out there that the games sell massive. Half life 2 one of the biggest and best pc games ever(my personal favourite of all time) sold 12 million by latest count. Witcher 3 12 million. Cyberpunk 2077 4.5 million. GOW 2018 sold 19.5 million on 116 million ps4's.
@Martsmall oh and I was a pc gamer for 25 years, spent ÂŁ1000s over the years keeping up with the needed specs. liked the look of some of the games on ps4 so I bought one. Then traded it for a Pro and now a ps5. Most top end PC gamers are cash rich, buying a console for ÂŁ450 is nothing compared to a top end gpu.
@Martsmall I posted this on another similar topic the other day. It's an interview the former boss Shawn Layden gave a few weeks ago. States his reasons and why he thought it was a good idea. Time will tell how it all plays out in the long run, but I honestly don't think Sony will do anything to hurt the PlayStation brand as its their biggest money maker.
Ex PlayStation boss Shawn Layden in an interview 2 weeks ago.
âThe idea of going to PCâand I donât think youâll ever see PlayStation do a day and date with PC, but you know, never say neverâbut the strategy as we were developing it when I was there was that we need to go out to where these new customers are, these new fans could be,â he said.
âWe need to go to where they are because theyâve decided not to go to come to my house so Iâve got to go to their house now.
âAnd whatâs the best way to go to their house? Why donât I take one of our top selling games, which has already blown up the marketplace, itâs already been out there for 18 months or 24 months, thereâs no real retail activity against that title, Iâm not trading off one sale for another, and bring that to the personal computer platform and let them have an idea â you guys choose not to come to PlayStation but let me show you what youâre missing.â
For Layden, âthereâs no losing in this transactionâ as PC game sales arenât coming at the expense of console software purchases, and ideally they might encourage PC players to buy a console down the line.
âItâs a way of outreach, thatâs how I see it â trying to get to the people that the platform doesnât currently speak to,â he said.
@Martsmall 4 top graphics cards in the last steam survey (sep 21)
Gtx 1060 Gtx 1050 Gtx 1060ti Gtx 2060
All of them less powerful than a ps5. DF have said the ps5 is roughly equivalent to a gtx 2070 super. It's 9th on the list. So a hell of a lot of pc gamers will be playing a worse version of gow if in fact they can. And steam is a place for gamers. Most pc's in the world never see a game in their lives.
@Martsmall 1.6 billion pc owners are not top end gamers. Look on the steam hardware statistics. Most pc's in the world will not play GOW 2018. And let's not forget when the developers start really using the ps5 and it's features your going to need a good rig to keep up.
@Martsmall sony sold around 330 million games last year. They have said 71% of their games sales are now digital. That's where they make the most money, people buying games through their PS store. People buying FIFA, cod, battlefield, Assassins creed through their store and them taking a cut. They need people to buy the consoles and have them sat in their lounges. They are not going to do anything to jeopardise that. Don't think they will go day one until its streaming only. Then everyone will just have a xbox, ps and Nintendo app on their tv/ laptop phone etc.
@Martsmall because they might play GOW 2018 and really love it. Might want to really play the new one that's coming out and don't want to wait 1-2 years to play it.
@Martsmall I think their goal is to make money, spread the brand and maybe sell some extra consoles to pc players that might never have bought one. Makes sense to me.

Re: Sony Stock Value Loses $20 Billion, But Will Likely Recover
@NEStalgia you say Sony has been complacent this last few years? They have had a massively successful console launch(even with a pandemic and shortages) with in my opinion a great first year of games. We have 3 tent pole games coming this year, as well as some great 3rd party ones. They have 25 games in development, with nearly half being new ip(so could be anything). And they are going to be launching a cutting edge vr set up and make AAA games for it! If that's complacent, god knows what you'd call Nintendo the last few years with their repackaged wii and wii u games.
Re: Sony Stock Value Loses $20 Billion, But Will Likely Recover
@Alduin I don't think this has anything to do with Sony's timed exclusives! You don't spend 70 billion to combat that, you would just do the same and spend shed loads less.
This is MS really showing what it's true long term plan is, to buy as many studios/publishers as they can! To have the biggest collection of games anywhere, to make it the only place you can play your favourite games. They are looking 20-30 years ahead. I wouldn't be surprised if ubisoft is next.
Re: Sony's Own First-Party Studios Championed PC Ports
@art_of_the_kill I'd also add that for me, the best version of the game is the one I played back in 2018. The one I loved and thought was a masterpiece. I don't care if PC players get a shinier version all these years later. Good for them.
And of course they are going to use the benefits of the platform and make the game look as good as it can. You imagine what would have happened if they had just released the PS4 version? It would have been called a cheap PC port and review bombed!
Re: Sony's Own First-Party Studios Championed PC Ports
Re: Sony's Own First-Party Studios Championed PC Ports
Re: Sony's Own First-Party Studios Championed PC Ports
Re: Sony's Own First-Party Studios Championed PC Ports
Re: This Is Why PlayStation Wants to Make Smartphone Games
@art_of_the_kill what exactly are they doing at our expense? They've bought studios that make mobile games. They've bought a studio that specialises in PC ports! These are to bring in extra revenue for the company. Not take anything away from the PS community, maybe even add people to the PS community!
They've stated they have 25 games in development, nearly half being new ip for the ps5/4. We have an amazing line up of games coming this year, I'd argue its better than either MS or Nintendo. For me it's never been a better time to be a PS gamer.
Re: God of War PC Closes on 60,000 Concurrent Players on Steam
@NinjaWaddleDee we don't know what the sales figures are though. HZD sold 716000 in its first month on steam, and GOW has a much higher profile, better scores and is a better port.
As Arisen says, its sitting at No1 on steam at the moment, and it was no1 when preorders started. At the moment it has 62k concurrent players. I'd be amazed if it hasn't sold over 1 million by the end of the month.
Re: Hands On: God of War PC Is a Great Way to Play a PS4 Classic
@pimpjuice doesn't devalue my ps5 at all. Sony will make millions from it(it shot to the top of steam global sales in its first hour on preorder). Means more money for them to make games for us. Gets Sony's brand recognition to millions of people who don't normally buy consoles.
Sony have sold nearly 20 million copies, it's made its money on console. I'm glad PC gamers get to play this masterpiece.
The value of my console comes with me getting to play GOWR, GT7, HFW and the rest this year. The value of my console is that it cost a quarter of the PC spec they used for this review.
Re: Days Gone Also Sold Over 8 Million Copies on PS4, Claims Director
Re: PS5's New PSVR Headset Officially Named PlayStation VR2, Full Specs Revealed
Re: PS5's New PSVR Headset Officially Named PlayStation VR2, Full Specs Revealed
@BUDSclass201 it was always going to use the power of the ps5, so was never going to be wireless. They've been saying for ages it was one cable.
Me personally, being wireless would have been a negative and a no buy.
Re: PS5's New PSVR Headset Officially Named PlayStation VR2, Full Specs Revealed
Re: Soapbox: Sony's First-Party Exclusives Will Shine Once Again in 2022
Really excited for all 3 , don't usually preorder but I know they are going to bring the quality and be brilliant games.
Re: PS5, PS4 Launch Trailer for PS Plus Game Deep Rock Galactic Released
Looks a blast, looking forward to trying this out.
Re: Rumour: PS Plus January 2022 PS5, PS4 Games Leaked Early
Great month if true. Nice way to start the year.
Just been looking at the reviews on steam for the deep rock galactic game as never heard of it. It's at overwhelming positive at 97% from 92k reviews. Says 1 to 4 player coop with completely destructible environments. Looks a blast to play and worth an install.
Re: Horizon Forbidden West's Stunning Sci-Fi Ecosystem Unleashed in PS5, PS4 Trailer
Just can not wait to play this game. As well as the machines, the world's just look so dense and beautiful. Looking forward to taking on the new machines, well apart from that snake one! đł
Re: Rebellion Goes Loud with Sniper Elite 5's PS5, PS4 Reveal
Loved playing 4 with a mate, some genuinely great gameplay moments. Looking forward to 5. I just wish they would do more missions with deadly counter snipers, something like the film 'enemy at the gates' would be awesome.
Re: Round Up: What Was Announced at The Game Awards 2021?
I thought forspoken looked really impressive, looking forward to that. And since I like a good coop game with my mate, I will keep an eye on that arc raiders.
Re: Scuf Reveals First Line of Third-Party PS5 Controllers, Prices Start at $200
I wonder what the build quality is like for that sort of money? I just wish Sony would just stick some back paddles on the standard dualsense, call it the pro model, charge me ÂŁ80-ÂŁ100 and I'd buy one.
Re: Sony Set to Combine PS Plus and PS Now to Create Xbox Game Pass Competitor on PS5, PS4
Re: Rumour: PS Plus December 2021 PS5, PS4 Games Leaked Early
Really chuffed if true. Always wanted to try Godfall, but just couldn't bring myself to spend the money. And lego games are always fun to play with my kids.
Re: UK Sales Charts: Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Dances Into the Bestsellers
Re: Sony Establishes PlayStation PC Label to Spearhead Porting Push
@Umar why would he want to stop it? Shawn Layden made some very good points, makes very good financial sense for Sony.
Re: Sony Establishes PlayStation PC Label to Spearhead Porting Push
@Martsmall I agree that sony want a slice of the pc market. They will sell millions of copies of gow2018 I reckon.
I just think in my own personal opinion they will not put them day and date this gen(maybe a multiplayer game, maybe).
Anyway I'm off, enjoyed the chat đđ.
Re: Sony Establishes PlayStation PC Label to Spearhead Porting Push
@Martsmall yeah most wont, but maybe a few will, and that's sales they wouldn't have gotten.
Plus people seem under the impression that just because there are a billion pcs out there that the games sell massive.
Half life 2 one of the biggest and best pc games ever(my personal favourite of all time) sold 12 million by latest count. Witcher 3 12 million. Cyberpunk 2077 4.5 million. GOW 2018 sold 19.5 million on 116 million ps4's.
Re: Sony Establishes PlayStation PC Label to Spearhead Porting Push
@Martsmall oh and I was a pc gamer for 25 years, spent ÂŁ1000s over the years keeping up with the needed specs. liked the look of some of the games on ps4 so I bought one. Then traded it for a Pro and now a ps5. Most top end PC gamers are cash rich, buying a console for ÂŁ450 is nothing compared to a top end gpu.
Re: Sony Establishes PlayStation PC Label to Spearhead Porting Push
Re: Sony Establishes PlayStation PC Label to Spearhead Porting Push
@Martsmall 4 top graphics cards in the last steam survey (sep 21)
Gtx 1060
Gtx 1050
Gtx 1060ti
Gtx 2060
All of them less powerful than a ps5. DF have said the ps5 is roughly equivalent to a gtx 2070 super. It's 9th on the list. So a hell of a lot of pc gamers will be playing a worse version of gow if in fact they can.
And steam is a place for gamers. Most pc's in the world never see a game in their lives.
Re: Sony Establishes PlayStation PC Label to Spearhead Porting Push
@Martsmall 1.6 billion pc owners are not top end gamers. Look on the steam hardware statistics. Most pc's in the world will not play GOW 2018. And let's not forget when the developers start really using the ps5 and it's features your going to need a good rig to keep up.
Re: Sony Establishes PlayStation PC Label to Spearhead Porting Push
@Martsmall sony sold around 330 million games last year. They have said 71% of their games sales are now digital. That's where they make the most money, people buying games through their PS store. People buying FIFA, cod, battlefield, Assassins creed through their store and them taking a cut. They need people to buy the consoles and have them sat in their lounges. They are not going to do anything to jeopardise that.
Don't think they will go day one until its streaming only. Then everyone will just have a xbox, ps and Nintendo app on their tv/ laptop phone etc.
Re: Sony Establishes PlayStation PC Label to Spearhead Porting Push
@Martsmall because they might play GOW 2018 and really love it. Might want to really play the new one that's coming out and don't want to wait 1-2 years to play it.
Re: Sony Establishes PlayStation PC Label to Spearhead Porting Push
@Martsmall I think their goal is to make money, spread the brand and maybe sell some extra consoles to pc players that might never have bought one. Makes sense to me.
