Re: Poll: We Want You to Rate Your Favourite PSVR2 Games

Serialsid

Gt7 is a definite 10 for me. Its crazy how many hours you can sink into that game whilst your immersed in VR. Sony should have boxed this game with the headset instead of horizon.
Res Village so far is a 9. Amazing visuals and atmosphere, just a few technical issues. But an impressive game that shows what can be done with normal flat games.
Star wars surprised me, had a great time blasting through the levels and its just fun. An 8 for me.
Kayak is visually impressive and very relaxing but definitely needs more added.
Horizon has been my biggest disappointment. Visually great and very interactive but a big over use of the climbing mechanic. I actually like the combat, just wish there was more of it. Still give it a 7 though.
Have switchback installed but not tried it yet. After everything I've read I might wait for a few more patches before giving it a go.

Re: PS Plus Essential PS5, PS4 Game for April Revealed Early

@Ken_Kaniff I may be wrong but I don't think it's a MP game at all. You either create outposts by building, designing traps, putting guards in and doing their patrol routes.
Or you enter other people's outposts and try to get past their twisted minds to grab the treasure. According to the blog you can do that with a friend.
If they can make it so there's lots of options, designs, mods and updates it could be a really fun game. Least they are trying something different.

Re: PS Plus Essential PS5, PS4 Game for April Revealed Early

Serialsid

I think it looks good, really inventive idea and solid gameplay.
Dropping on plus makes great sense, if it gets a big enough player base you could end up with millions of different levels to try, like Mario maker 2 does. And with the devious minds of gamers out there, some of the challenges could be extreme.
I hope they have a plan to keep updating and adding more content/traps, would give it a long self life. I wonder if like mario maker 2 you have to have run your own design first to show it can be done?

Re: RoboCop: Rogue City Could Be the RoboCop Game We've Always Wanted

Serialsid

Can't wait for this game, just loved the original film when I was a kid, and this definitely has the atmosphere and mood right. And as I really enjoyed terminator resistance I'm hopefully this turns out decent.
This is the sort of game that would crossover brilliantly into VR aswell, but that's probably just wishful thinking.

Re: Song in the Smoke: Rekindled (PSVR2) - VR's Best Survival Sim Is Even Better with PSVR2

Serialsid

@Toypop no I'm arguing that it didn't need to be a system seller. Just needed to be a fun adventure that shows off the hardware! Job done! That and the rest of the launch line up sell the system. That and Sony's pedigree in the gaming market.
And when did it become Sony's poster child? Where did you ever read that it was going to be some sort of masterpiece? That it was going to be of the same standard as alyx? Please do tell?
And faith is the reason I bought a ps5 day one! The faith that sony would deliver great games over its life cycle. Its the same with the psvr2, and I'd imagine for lot of other playstation gamers.

You still haven't haven't shown me where I said it was a system seller?
You still haven't said why you've "apparently" spent £570 on a headset with no killer game?
You haven't provided any evidence that the horizon game hasn't sold units? Be interesting to see the split between the two bundles, I bet you'd be surprised! Be funny if the horizon bundle sold more eh!

Oh and I don't know if you noticed, but we're the only 2 in here! I'm not trying to sell anyone anything! I think it's hilarious that you think I've been trying too.

Re: Song in the Smoke: Rekindled (PSVR2) - VR's Best Survival Sim Is Even Better with PSVR2

Serialsid

@Toypop I'm still waiting for you to show me where I said it was a system seller?
And Sony don't lack a system seller. GT7 is a massive system seller. From reading and watching YouTube/ websites for the last few weeks, as soon as it was confirmed it was the full game loads of gamers were immediately pulling the trigger. I even saw PC gamers stating they'd ordered ps5 + gt7 together. Hell it even made you buy it! YouTube is full of videos showing the game, go read the comments. It's selling systems. More so than alyx ever did for pcvr.
And resident evil village seems to he reviewing incredibly well for what you call just a patch! People are loving playing the whole game in vr, stating how different the experience is. And though horizon isn't a alyx killer, it's still a fun, interactive adventure that shows off the hardware and what it can do. That's why it's on the box.
My argument is that horizon didn't need to be some AAA alyx defining game, it just needed to be what it turned out to be. And that with gt7, village and the 40 other games on offer, plus the reputation that sony has earned for their excellent games and the promise of things to come is enough to give the headset a great launch.
You seem to be the only one that thinks horizon needed to change the vr world, you seem fixated on that point! It didn't! Again I have faith those games will come, that Sony will deliver. And again I don't understand why your not asking for your money back? You obviously don't think Sony have learnt anything from the psvr, so why buy the headset?

Re: Song in the Smoke: Rekindled (PSVR2) - VR's Best Survival Sim Is Even Better with PSVR2

Serialsid

@Toypop please show me anywhere that I said horizon was a system seller?........
I said no such thing. Just that it was much more interactive than Alyx. I've been very consistent thanks.
I'm sure in 3 years time we will be looking back over a great selection of games. Games that break the vr mold with the eye tracking, haptics and triggers. I have faith that sony will deliver, that's why I spent £570! Still not sure why you did! The psvr2 has a massive amount of buzz about it at the moment, I'm sure horizon just being a tech demo as you put it is not going to decide whether it is successful or not!
But you keep going on and on about alyx, a great game but even that wasn't a real system seller. The numbers don't lie.

Re: Song in the Smoke: Rekindled (PSVR2) - VR's Best Survival Sim Is Even Better with PSVR2

Serialsid

@Toypop horizon was never going to be a AAA masterpiece, it was a game to show what the headset can do. Same as astrobot showed what the dualsense could do, and it should have been packed In the same as astrobot was with the ps5.
Think you had it built up a bit too much in your head. And i personally quite enjoy the combat, it's fun and the bow feels great with the haptics and triggers. More immersive than any pcvr game has done yet.
But all this negativity still makes me wonder why you apparently bought a psvr2? Why spend £570 on something you have no faith in? You have no faith in Sony to deliver anything groundbreaking? So so strange? Just ask for a refund on your "DOA" unit and wait to see if Sony can be bothered to deliver!
And i wouldn't worry about Sony selling these things, GT7 alone has more hype than any VR game in years, more words like "ground breaking" "spectacular " "revelation " "mind blowing"! That's the system seller. A game the was designed from the beginning with VR in mind!

Re: Song in the Smoke: Rekindled (PSVR2) - VR's Best Survival Sim Is Even Better with PSVR2

Serialsid

@Toypop who mentioned combat? I was talking about interaction? Interacting with the environment, something it does better than alyx(looks loads better to). It's an 8 hour game to show what the headset can do. No it's not as good as Alyx, never said it was. But it's a good start. Village is getting great reviews and GT7 is blowing up YouTube.
They've launched with 40 games, there are over 100 in development or being ported over. After spending millions in developing this headset I'm sure Sony have some great surprises in store. Your righting it off after being out a few days !!!
At the end of the day, pcvr gaming stalled massively after Alyx, the quest 2 pretty well killed all creativity with developers making games for a mobile chipset! This headset has the potential to make high end vr gaming great again, to push the medium forward, which will benefit pcvr gaming too. Its shows what can be done with eye tracking and great haptics.
And I'm not trying to fool anyone into buying anything, don't care less. Think YouTube has been a massive sales boost, better than any advertising Sony could do.
I hope you enjoy your replacement for your "DOA" unit! But i think we all know your biased against it before you've even put it on your head! Just keep droning on about 3 and 6 year old games and the rest of us will enjoy what's available to play now. Cheers.

Re: Song in the Smoke: Rekindled (PSVR2) - VR's Best Survival Sim Is Even Better with PSVR2

Serialsid

@Toypop of course people are asking for Alyx on psvr2, it's the best game on pcvr. And it would be even better with the haptics, triggers of the psvr2. But that has nothing to do with the quality of the AAA games on psvr2. They are brilliant.
How much of the world can you interact with in Alyx compared to horizon? Maybe you should play them first before waffling on about generations! Oh I'm sorry, you've watched videos on the net!
And I've had a HP windows mixed reality headset for years now. And i can tell you after years of pcvr and constantly playing with settings and patches like with project cars 2, the psvr2 is a breath of fresh air! Just plug and play, and looks better than any psvr driving game.
Again go and watch MRTV play horizon, a man that's played every single headset, including 8k systems. He loved the game, visuals and interactivity! Again why have you bought a headset that has no games you consider any good? That are just patches?

Re: Song in the Smoke: Rekindled (PSVR2) - VR's Best Survival Sim Is Even Better with PSVR2

Serialsid

@Toypop really doesn't make sense why you paid £570 for something with according to you such a bad launch line up, and you don't seem to have any faith in Sony taking VR forwards. Just because you saw some gt7 streams? You should have saved yourself the money and played all the great games that came after halflife alyx on your pcvr! Oh that's right, pcvr stagnated terribly after that.
Oh and gt7 was designed with VR in mind from the start, as the developer has said. So not just a patch.
Several reviews have hailed resident evil village as a better vr experience than Alyx, better visuals and more interactive. Though Alyx is a great shooter, games like village and Horizon have much better interactivity. I'd say Alyx is a generation behind!
Plus the haptics in the headset/controllers with the adaptive triggers make these games much more immersive than pcvr, and i say this as someone who's had a pcvr setup for years now. Playing the star wars game last night and it's so much fun using the weapons/tools and feeling the haptics in the controllers and in the headset.
I've watched tons of reaction/reviews online from some of the biggest VR sites and they for the most part love the headset and what it can bring to VR. MRTV who has used every single headset on the market thinks its incredible value and is loving playing the new games.
Maybe you should just get your money back on your DOA unit and come back in a few years when there might be some games good enough to come up to your high standards.

Re: Out Today: PSVR2 Brings Next-Gen VR to the Masses

Serialsid

@JAMes-BroWWWn it's a shame you feel that way. This headset adds so much to the PlayStation brand and ecosystem. I've just been playing gt7 and it just takes the game to a whole new level. The immersion is insane, and with this headset Sony now offer something their competitors can't compete with.
I'll also add that I've been following forums/ YouTube comments these last few weeks in the build up and the hype and gamers awareness about what this headset can do has gone through the roof. It's got every single gaming channel and website talking about PlayStation. I've even seen PC gamers in forums stating they've just ordered a ps5 + psvr2 after watching this thing in action.
I believe the success of this headset would benefit all ps5 users, whether you like VR or not!

Re: Out Today: PSVR2 Brings Next-Gen VR to the Masses

@StylesT I've had something similar. Emailed me yesterday that my charging cradle was dispatched with a delivery of 23rd. Nothing about the headset, so I'm slightly annoyed much to my wife's amusement! And then in the last hour I've had an email saying just dispatched and tracking shows coming today by dpd! Bless Sony!
So excited for this bit of kit, have 5 games downloaded and ready to go!

Re: Gran Turismo 7's Huge PSVR2 Update Comes Alongside Four New Cars

Serialsid

@TrickyDicky99 is not the same game in the slightest. Visually better, tons of single player content, from the menu book, missions and different track specific races. And the dynamic weather is brilliant in the longer races and can really change a race.
And on Wednesday when my psvr2 turns up(🙏) the whole game will be a whole different experience.

Re: PSVR2 Review: Is It Worth It?

Serialsid

@TooBarFoo I've read a few reviews that say it's the best vr experience they've had, including more expensive pcvr setups. Especially coupled with the haptics, triggers and eye tracking. I can appreciate you have tried better lenses so it's a deal breaker for you. But for the 99% of ps5 owners they are going to love the experience. At the end of the day it's the software that will decide how successful it becomes, not the lenses.

Re: PSVR2 Review: Is It Worth It?

Serialsid

@TooBarFoo from what I've been reading, nearly everyone is saying great things about the visual quality from the oled display.
These comments from John linneman from digital foundry,

"Darker content benefits as well, as unlike prior OLED based headsets, PSVR2 can display absolute black. The combination of bright highlights with deep black levels dramatically improves the presentation. I really cannot overstate this enough - it now feels more comparable to a proper high-end OLED TV. It's genuinely stunning."

"In terms of image clarity, PSVR2 features four times the number of pixels per eye compared to its predecessor, almost eliminating the screen door effect entirely. It's extremely sharp and clean to the point where small UI elements are perfectly sharp and legible. It's sharper in practice than any headset I've personally used - alas, I've never had a chance to try the HTC Vive Pro 2 which does boast an even higher pixel count, though that headset uses an LCD panel rather than OLED."

"PSVR2 boasts the brightest screen I've experienced to date. Bright scenes now project light that feels more natural to what your eyes would expect in the real world rather than the dull, washed out look you get in most other headsets."

"If you were a PSVR player and you're looking for the next step, the new hardware delivers in spades. This is a vastly superior VR experience that brings all the advances seen in other areas of the market to PS5, along with some key improvements including a phenomenally good HDR OLED screen."

For me personally, I think Sony nailed the sweet spot for tech vs price. And the eye tracking with foveated rendering will push it passed pcvr thats available at the moment. In terms of gameplay and image quality.

Re: PSVR2 Review: Is It Worth It?

@get2sammyb thanks for the reply. In the video I watched he said there was no latency or tracking issues with 1m or 2m extension cables. But 5m just refused to even turn on.

Re: PSVR2 Review: Is It Worth It?

Serialsid

@get2sammyb thanks for great review. Did you try any extension cables during your test? Reason i ask is I'm not sure if 4.5m will be long enough where I have my ps5 setup at the mo.
I did watch a video of someone saying a 2m high speed type c extension cable worked great, no issues but a 5m wouldn't. I think an extra 2m would be enough, just wondered if you tried it?

Re: PSVR2 Review: Is It Worth It?

Serialsid

@LifeGirl I think you'll find it gets rave reviews on many other sites. IGNs Ryan
McCaffrey (an xbox guy) was blown away by his time with GT7. It's brilliant tech for a great price. All my family have used my pcvr setup and no headaches

Re: PSVR2 Review: Is It Worth It?

Serialsid

Cheers for the great review, so excited to get mine next week. They charged me for the charging cradle today(ordered separately), hopefully the headset tomorrow. Think I'm more excited for this than when the ps5 came out.
For me personally, getting a VR experience comparable or better than a high end pcvr setup makes it great value for money.

Re: God of War Ragnarok Smashes Through a Staggering 11 Million Sales

Serialsid

@Andyhunter132 you can't walk into any stores in the UK and get a ps5, bundle or not. But online non bundles have been available for a while, and most people purchase online now.
Yes the number has been inflated by the bundles, but how many? Who knows? You certainly don't. Take off the people that actually wanted the game and it may be a million? Maybe?
Personally don't care, games a massive success. And if people buy the bundle that didn't want the game because they can't wait a few days/ weeks to find a stand alone ps5, then that's their problem for being impatient. Consumer has the control in the transaction, its that simple!

Re: God of War Ragnarok Smashes Through a Staggering 11 Million Sales

Serialsid

@Andyhunter132 nobody is FORCED to buy anything. People get to choose how they spend their money.
And again, you can buy a stand alone ps5 from amazon, argos, game and Shopto here in the UK, not forced to buy a bundle.
Plus again, you don't know how many people might have wanted the bundle because they want GOW ragnarok! In the bundle you get the game for £47 instead of £70! Bargain.

Re: How PSVR2 Is Making Pistol Whip Better Than Ever

Serialsid

@Sarxion I have briefly tried a friends quest 2, and yes not having a cable is nice with a bit more freedom. But the comfort and weight to me are stacked against it.
I do believe I read that sony are investigating quite heavily into wireless technologies, and apart from the battery problem I agree that would be the way to go. But until they can get it so every single ps5 user gets the same high quality experience, we need that cable for the consoles power.

Re: How PSVR2 Is Making Pistol Whip Better Than Ever

Serialsid

@Sarxion personally as someone who's used a psvr set up for years with one cable, I really think your over blowing it! Played a lot of games, my kids too and the cable has never been an issue.
For me personally, I'd say having haptic feedback in the controllers and the headset, with the adaptive triggers and most probably better visuals, this will be the superior version. As will all the other ports that use the foveated rendering to massively increase the visuals and frame rates.
And when you compare something like GT7 on psvr2 against grid legends on the quest 2(game looks like a ps3 game and runs like it) I'm happy they went with the cable. Hopefully if they sell enough, developers can really get behind it and psvr setups to really push vr forwards, past what a mobile chip set can do. Proper AAA games like half life alyx. That's my hope anyway.

Re: Gran Turismo 7's Free PSVR2 Upgrade Sounds Mind Bogglingly Great

Serialsid

Sony's marketing could sell a ton of headsets just showing this game running in adverts. Looks incredible!
I used to play project cars 2 on my pcvr setup, and although fun I was always adjusting settings to get it running at 90fps and looking somewhat decent.
For this to be the whole game, looking gorgeous and running at 120fps straight out the box is brilliant.

Re: God of War Ragnarok Smashes Through a Staggering 11 Million Sales

Serialsid

@Andyhunter132 nobody is FORCED to buy anything. You have no idea what the split is, or even whether people picking up the console were not going to buy GOW ragnarok straight away anyway.
Plus several places like amazon, shopTo have the console for sale on its own, not in a bundle.
Who cares anyway, games a masterpiece and a massive success.

Re: Preview: Why Horizon Call of the Mountain Is a PSVR2 Showpiece

Serialsid

To me the combat makes sense. In the normal games during combat I'm constantly running, diving/rolling out of the way or sliding along the ground. Trying to do that in VR would be really jarring, and I think most people would be sick.
Yeah it's not ideal, but as long as its fun and still a decent challenge I'll be happy.

Re: 37 PSVR2 Games Confirmed for Launch Window as Sony Posts Full List

Serialsid

Brilliant lineup for me, can't wait to try GT7 with my wheel and seat set up in VR! And never got around to Resident evil Village so that should be a great experience.
Got hello neighbour for my boys as they love the series(is that even on the list? ).
Personally think it's a great launch, and for the specs and features it has it's very well priced.

Re: PS Plus Extra, Premium PS5, PS4 Games for January 2023 Announced

Serialsid

@nedbvai I'm not a fanboy, I have given MS and Nintendo a lot of money over the years, i have all the systems plus PC. Just saying for me personally, GP had not been worth the money over the last year.
I think ps plus extra for £83 a year and then paying £70 for a quality experience like Gow ragnarok is better value to me than GP and the odd good day one release. But that's just my take.
Hopefully xbox will get their act together and start delivering on their promises, actually manage the 24 studios they have and get decent games out there. And not half finished games like Halo infinite. I'm looking forward to sinking hours into starfield, let's hope it delivers.

Re: PS Plus Extra, Premium PS5, PS4 Games for January 2023 Announced

Serialsid

@nedbvai I completely disagree with you, for me the last 6 months ps plus extra has kicked GP butt! I'm subscribed to both and honestly apart from the odd game, GP and my series X have in the most part been a waste of money. I really wish I'd have kept my One X and waited until xbox got their act together. Got to be the worst 2 years of a console launch. I really hope Starfield and redfall deliver.
And looking through your comments and your love of GP, I think you bought the wrong console my friend.

Re: Free Gran Turismo 7 PSVR2 Update Confirmed for Launch

Serialsid

I was so hoping for this news. If its going to be the full game it's a big addition to the psvr2 line up.
Ever since I played project cars 2 on my PC vr setup I've loved the immersion it brings. With gt7 visuals, racing and dynamic weather, this could really help push psvr2 sales.
