@MatthewJP I'll get one for the opposite reason. Regret staying up late just trying to get a PS5 at launch, just to play a few PS5 games and lots of PS4 pro versions of games for 4 years. I should've just got a ps4 pro and waited longer
@BeerMonster since it's digital out the box, its £389 to £700. Although I agree with you, cost of production has gone up, and going off PS4 pro sales, this is going to be fairly low in production numbers and so economies of scale and all that.
Until we have another Pascal Architecture type of technological breakthrough, I can't see prices coming down significantly anytime soon
@__jamiie I tried researching what you're saying but can't find what youre saying. I can see Gears 5 runs at 120fps @ 1440p but nothing to do with upscaling or anything. If you're on about game boost, well the base PS5 also has that and it's a seperate thing to PSSR
@__jamiie for a first party game? Ok? When PSSR will work on 8,500 games? 120fps at what resolution? Dont think it's 4k is it. And what's xbox got to do with it anyway?
@jrt87 CNET have stated they games they've tested are running 4k@60fps, GT7 even running at 8k (for whoever wants that), and Sony have been asking devs to hit 4k@60fps on the pro. Sony have stated it as their goal. As for "all games", ultimately if the developer chooses to release unoptimised games, that's on them. Everything will still have to target 30fps on PS5 regardless, and PSSR will fill in gaps in resolution if devs don't hit 4k. It's not like the pro is replacing the base PS5 anyway, where people are still choosing 60fps modes and so the pressure is on devs to make that happen
@Jimmer-jammer agreed, Sony's approach to modular disc drives is incredibly intelligent. No one else is offering the chance to modify your console at a later date. If you buy the xsx discless that's coming up, and you suddenly want discs, you've got to buy a whole new console and a 1tb stick to make up the difference
@Pinkman probably because a youtube livestream is going to be heavily compressed, loads of detail lost. I could still clearly see the difference though
Better cooling and not having to choose between quality or performance and I think I'll get one. I regret not getting a PS4 pro and getting a PS5 at launch, so I hope it would keep me happy for a few years after PS6 releases
@S1ayeR74 Maybe £20 at most? It's also "split" 8GB/2GB, 2GB being reserved for the OS, so games pretty much only have 8GB RAM to run off. The Series X uses a weird 10GB/6GB "split" where they run different bandwidths as well. VS PS5 using 16GB RAM all the same bandwith +512MB SSD Cache. By split, I don't mean the ram is physically split like PS3 or older consoles, but it's still one unit. I suppose PlayStation have really learned from the PS3 days to make their hardware simpler which makes for better optimization. I wish PS5 went for more GPU cores at a lower clock speed though but you can't have it all I guess.
But yeah sorry, from what I've read, the 10GB RAM on Series S has been the source of a lot of the problems developing for it. People had problems with Borderlands 3 crashing on Series S with a "run out of memory" error screen.
Considering Sony have proudly advertised times exclusively for just DLC before (i.e CoD), the fact they wouldn't be screaming about exclusively of this game doesn't make sense.
@S1ayeR74 the main thing developers struggle with is the RAM on Series S. It's only 10GB, whereas the Steam deck is 16GB. Wukong's minimum requirement on PC is 16GB so makes sense why it's ok on steam deck. Neither platform meet PC minimum GPU spec but the steam deck runs at 800p, so series S would run at maybe upscaled 720p if RAM wasn't a limitation
This might be one of the worst articles I've ever read on this site. Completely emotionally driven and completely backtracks on all the defending of this title. Also full of assumptions on who did what and what's going to happen with the studios and future titles.
Sony have done the correct thing in refunding everyone who bought it. Most publishers wouldn't bother.
@Frmknst multipler is just a segment of a game, that allows people to play together, whereas live service aims to keep players engaged for a long as possible with constant updates, new characters, battle passes, etc. All live service games are multiplayer but not all multiplayers are live service
This game was very good until you hit Level 25, after which all skill-based matchmaking is thrown out the window and you end up in incredibly sweaty try-hard lobbies where the entire opposing team are snipers. I quit at that point because it was so frustrating
@gollumb82 I try and help my friends build their PCs and I always advise investing in really good cases, cooling, and PSUs. Of course they don't listen and only a few months go by until they have loads of issues and everything needs upgrading. It's so, so much easier to upgrade RAM, GPU, or SSDs than to rewire your entire cooling system, repaste the cpu, replace PSU etc 😂.
Windows indeed sucks. SteamOS I think is pretty good, I'd love to see valve have a second go at the Steam Machine thing. The Asus looks like a much better handheld but the Windows puts me off, I'll have to look at SteamOS on it
@gollumb82 So many PC people will say you can get a PC to outperform PS5 for like $800, but neglect to tell you that requires buying a very cheap case, very cheap noisy fans, a cheap cpu cooler, and an awful PSU, creating a hot, loud, time bomb of a PC lol.
@glennthefrog I think people are sympathetic for the coders/engineers, and other developers who are not directors/designers/artists etc. The ones just make the game work as opposed to designing it
I mean, look at the steam deck, asus ally, etc. Sure they're PCs in software but they're really consoles in hardware. The steam machine flopped in 2014 but maybe it was just ahead of it's time. I think it would be a lot more successful now after the Steam deck's success. I used to play on PC, but now I'm console only and even looking to get rid of PC all together as there's not much my mobile phone can't do at home (obviously a much different story if you do work on a PC)
If anything, I think consoles have room to grow. It's just $500 consoles in this economy are simply not going to do as well as consoles which were half the price
Considering how the actual character design comes very, very late into the development cycle for a game like this, it's a possibility this game looked very promising in pre-alpha builds but the characters they slapped on top of the game ruined it for everyone
@Deityjester well I thought it was worth sharing incase you didn't know. I know plenty of people who buy keys for indie games knowing those indie devs would rather you pirate the game instead
@Deityjester best looking up how key sites work, it often ends up costing the developers money. If it's a ubisoft or EA then whatever but please dont use keys for indie games
@Jacko11 or developers could make lower budget games? Weird how this is occurring at the same time indie games are so loved by gamers, probably because you actually get your money's worth
@Northern_munkey you say it sucks to have digital only consoles, but I have the disc PS5 and only have a couple discs. Reason being is that the sales on the digital store are usually much larger than they are for discs, or at least I'm notified of sales on my wishlist instead of having to check on game stores often
I've only paid full price for a PS5 game once and that's because it was a console bundle and the only option to get a PS5 at the time. But that was demon souls so I'd say that one was almost worth it
@Vaako007 I don't think you're wrong, console is definitely better optimised than PC, but a whole 6GB less ram is quite a lot. As you say, smoothness is important, but they might be struggling to get 1080p@30fps smoothly.
Hellblade 2 is another game that has a minimum of 16GB ram, also minimum GPU of a gtx1070, and that game runs at a staggering 1536x643 resolution on Series S. Albeit at a smooth 30fps but that's a first party team that will have the best optimisation possible
@Vaako007 the minimum requirements for Wukong on PC are higher than the Series S spec. GTX1060 6GB as a minimum, which is more powerful than the Series S. Minimum RAM is 16GB, the Series S has 10GB.

@__jamiie still not sure why that's even relevant, when I'm talking about the fact it'll upscale new releases, but ok bro.

@MindfulGamer hence why PSSR exists, can upscale even when developers choose not to.

@InfidelFrigidstraigh no, it makes graphics modes run at 60fps instead of 30. Pretty big jump in power

@Tecinthebrain hahaha. No, everyone would be complaining its $600 and only comes with 1TB.

Re: PS5 Pro Announced, Costs $700 and Out in November
@RiceC03 for it to run the same as a base PS5? Lol.
Re: PS5 Pro Showcase Set for Tomorrow, Hosted by Mark Cerny
@OldGamer999 it really has gone up that much. It took a few years of production to make any profit from hardware at all.

@Wallace80 yes they do. They is also a pronoun.

@naruball I found it odd that Demon Souls has body 1/2 instead of male/female. But it is very easy to just say whatever and move on
