That's kind of a shame. I was hoping for a more in depth remaster. Guess it will go on the "I'll buy it at a steep discount" pile.

Playing "Chained Echos" and just picked up "Streets of ROUGE" so I'm going to bounce between those two games.
"Streets of ROUGE" was a fantastic deal during the PS indie sale for less than $5 for the Game +DLC collection.

Excellent Mr. SuperSilverback, I came here to say exactly the same thing. Chained Echos is awesome! This year with getting to play Chained Echos, Octopath Traveler 2, and Sea of Stars...2023 is a wonderful year for someone like me who loves this type of gaming.

This is definitely going on my list for Feb along with Octopath Traveler 2.

I guess I'm going to have to swim against the tide here.
I played it on PC for about 6 to 8 hours and just had to stop. Thought it might get better as I got further in the game, it didn't. Just wanted to say that I think there are better games out there for your time and money. Definite thumbs down from me, but your mileage may vary.

That is awesome there Mikey. Peter M. was at the center of some great games back in those days. Populous, Black and White, the original Dungeon Keeper, etc.
I wonder if they hold up today?

If we are talking old style god games, I was thinking this reminded me of "Populous" from Peter Molyneux.
This game really had me thinking about that.

This reminds me immediately of Sid Meiers "Pirates"wrapped in gorgeous Japanese art and style.

This has got to be the best JRPG of the last few years.
Going to polish it during the holidays and then clean up outstanding content from Elden Ring.

If you are looking for a solid JRPG, I highly recommend "Chained Echos"
Although I really enjoyed "Trials from Zero" I just thought "Chained Echos" was better.
AND, when you see that it was created by one person, that just blows my mind.
I highly recommend it if you are looking for the best JRPG of the year.

I absolutely agree with you. ER came out of nowhere for me and I've gotten over 300 hours out of it so far. Been a long time since a game got it's hooks into me like this.
It really is special!

The fact is that some (and I know this from professional experience) developers are just not that technically competent to wring every last frame out of a game.
Gotham Knights management team complains that with all the "high quality" art work and animation that they could not give a 60fps mode.

Bull!

They just did not know how to do it.
Look at the graphics for G.K. and you can see that WB is still stuck in the last generation with no idea how to make a big (or for that matter, any) step forward.
I think if WB could find someone to take over their licenses and just reap the money, they should do so.

Concerning this and TLOU 1 remake.
If I already own previous gen editions and am not offered an upgrade path, then it is a hard pass.
Remember folks, vote with your wallets and maybe these greedy companies will get the message.

2016 is the last year I played Madden too and for me, this year is a BIG improvement over the last time I played.
I do not get sports games every year, but decided with my PS5 this year, I'd grab Madden and I have to say I am impressed.
Looks wonderful and plays great.
Now is it perfect, no.
Does it fill the bill.
Absolutely!

Yep, this is a great game.
Play it.
If too expensive for you right now, or you are playing other things, go ahead and put it on your wishlist.
Well worth it.

For anyone that likes the console card game space,
I highly recommend "Inscryption".
Picked it up this week and am loving it.
From the guy that made "Pony Island".
It is strange and wonderful!

Although I believe the entire Yakuza series is good.
Like a Dragon raised it to an 11 for me.
I love old school JRPGs and the combination of that plus Yakuza is a bang on winner.
Day 1 buy for me based on the fun I had with the first one.

This game is fantastic!
It is a Colony Building/Storytelling Sim.
Originally played on PC, but it a couple a weeks ago, it got ported to consoles.
It is an amazing port that really makes the UI work on a controller.
There just is not anything quite like it.
I can see losing a thousand hours to this game now that I can lean back and enjoy it from the couch.
A fantastic city builder that constantly has you saying, "Whoa, that did not just happen" because of the crazy stuff that comes out of this game.
You crash land on an alien planet and go from there.
If you have never heard of it, look for a review and check it out.

In the category of Colin was right....
I just made $10 from my best friend who insisted it was coming out this year. I will let him keep his money as I just knew this was never going to hit this year.
I'll go a step further and say it will not see the light of day until at least April of next year.

I agree Unpacking should be on this list.
But my favorite Indie of all time only released a couple of weeks ago.
My pick is "Rimworld" Console edition. Best city builder-story telling game of all time.
I loved it on the PC and love it more now that it is on Playstation.
The interface is much better on the PS5 controller than on mouse and keyboard.

This month I'll be picking up:
RimWorld Console Edition
and
Inscryption for PS4
Love a great indie and these are both high on my list.
RimWorld is one of my favorite PC games that is finally on consoles. A true city builder/story simulator in outer space.
and
Inscryption is a fantastic card game unlike anything I've played before. It is from the same guy that did "Hex" and "Pony Island" and I am really looking forward to playing it again. This time on PS4. If you like "Slay the Spire" or "Monster Train", give this game a shot as it will blow your mind.

First off, I paid retail for my PS5 and would not pay a scalper for anything.
I think you may find that literally millions of other people pay retail pricing also.

Nobody said they expected everything for free.
I'm would be surprised to find that you even read the article.
The statement made was that many of us would pay for an upgrade, but not interested in paying $70 or more to play the exact same game we already own.
Seems that paying full boat for a game you already had purchased twice might rub some people the wrong way.
Go figure that.

You are ABSOLUTELY correct, this is exactly what I was thinking. It just seems that these companies can't throw rocks at each other's glass houses.
I am getting fed up with the unmitigated greed that I see coming from many of these companies.
I will do what I always do.
Vote with my wallet.
Will refrain from supporting both of these games (and any others that come down the road) that use these sorts of shady tactics.
Frankly, engaging with them at all at this point is just not worth it for me personally.
I will support those companies and products that do not take part in these kinds of shenanigans.
There are plenty of other games to buy and companies to support.
If you are angry at the general direction that we are seeing here, then I encourage you to do the same.

You think people played and beat Elden Ring and did not enjoy it? Interesting.
With so many games available to play now a days, I doubt many people play a 150 hour to complete game and not like it.
Do you have any certifiable evidence of this?
Or if it is your opinion, you are certainly entitled to that statement.
There are so many flame wars of whether HFW or ER are better or worse than each other.
They both are excellent games and worthy of attention as this year's best game.
We just don't have to argue back and forth on this point.
Now THAT is my opinion.

I would but I already bought it years ago.

I played this on Apple Arcade and can verify that it is quite good. Very different than anything I've played before.
Highly recommended...

Love to snag Demon's Souls and the new Ratchet and Clank if they go on sale.

I would love to see Sony grab Squenix and all of the JRPG content left over after the western licenses are gone. Think they would be an awesome addition to the Sony family.

I just love the Hitman franchise!
Will continue to fully support IO Interactive until they give me a reason not to. This team is amazing in that it always gives you the most bang for your hard earned money.

Just don't see this as a massive improvement over Sniper Elite 4.
Unless something really changes on release, I think I'll be waiting for a deep deep sale.

I really wanted to play "Bloodlines" as a deep RPG.
Have zero interest in another Battle Royale, free or not.

Still think that Nathan Fillion would have been a much better choice for the character of an adult Nathan Drake as evidenced by his mini movie on You Tube. If you got this actor, the script would have naturally followed.

Well worth the money if you are looking for something that is more relaxed and willing to take it's time.
I also recommend Spirtfarer and something that is different and quite special.

13 Sentinels is such a good game.
I enjoyed my time with it too.

In spite of all the negative comments that I am hearing, I for one am anxious to dive into Far Cry 6. Sign me up!
I have played every Far Cry game since the first one and they all were fun in their own way.
Particular favorites:
Far Cry 3
Far Cry Primal
Far Cry 5

Oddly enough, this seems to be pulling at me.
