@Elodin You can get into it without having played P5 and you'll be fine, but you're still going to miss out on specific references to character interactions or events that happened in the original game

It is a lot more beginner friendly than stuff like Persona Q though which is basically a pure fanservice game that goes over your head if you haven't played P3-5

I dug this game for what it was but jeez that voice acting was distractingly awful

The opening is like the only thing that actually screamed "Sonic the Hedgehog" to me

The rest of the film was basically like the movie Hop mixed with Smurfs and happened to be based on a video game. James Marsden even plays the same exact character he did in Hop

Whenever I hear people say this is like the best video game movie ever made I personally just get puzzled because yeah it's a fine kids film but it has barely anything to do with being a video game-based movie since it only uses the surface level elements of said game. At least Detective Pikachu being in a world where humans and Pokemon co-existed was actually faithful to the game's exact setting

And there's a music track that will 100% never show up in the film outside the end credits

Sonic 2 will probably take place in like New Orleans or something because Hollywood execs and creatives think that there's nothing more interesting than bringing fantastical characters from pre-existing IPs to the dull human world with human side characters played by big name celebrities

Yeah just take this random town in Minnesota or something and name it "Green Hills". It's basically the same thing

I thought MUA3 was a major step down quality wise from the first two games, MUA2 especially but I'd much rather play that again before Avengers

Avengers was basically Ultimate Alliance with a bunch of live service crap bogging it down

There is genuinely potential for a great single player game in there somewhere but it's never fully realized

Also most of the boss battles squandered their opportunities to utilize the wider Marvel Universe in supporting roles. Abomination's fight still aggravates me

Koei Tecmo flat out surprised me with how much respect to the IP they put in this game. It's less Musou and more just an action RPG take on Persona's formula

I am bummed at the lack of actual day-to-day management aspects but I understand they had to streamline it for the sake of it not feeling pace breaking as an action game

Cross save is pretty big in of itself. Considering how agnostic Sony was towards the idea of cross play this time like 2 or 3 years ago the fact they're actually trying to bring closer parity between PlayStation and Xbox versions of a game they themselves developed is really commendable

Man I remember when people were livid about Nintendo pulling out of E3 to host E3 Nintendo Directs as opposed to live press conferences

If anything they were way ahead of their time on that front. I think the Summer Game Fest and the advent of so many publisher-led video presentations have finally made those people realize how much more cost effective and beneficial the online presentation format is as opposed to setting up stuff like props, booking a venue, hiring additional presenters outside of studio staff etc.

It's likely going to be them announcing at the very least the Xbox and PC versions of Remake

They can't release them until after April 10th of this year when the PS4 exclusivity period ends but they'll at least confirm that they're working on them and maybe showing off gameplay of either version

@themightyant Kind of. I believe Sony actually owns the IP like they do Demon's Souls and Japan Studio did collaborate with FromSoftware on the development of the game so it is distinctly a Sony game unlike most of the other Souls entries. It's not like a Death Stranding or Spider-Man situation where Sony just has publishing rights while some other company has control over the IP itself. It was co-developed by a Sony owned first party team which is why it can be perceived as a lot closer to a first party game rather than a second party one like Nioh or Spider-Man

Seeing as how I never got the PlayStation versions of the Nioh games I'll probably dip in on console with this collection but for right now I have both on PC so I'm in no rush to play them again anytime soon. Great games if you missed out on them though

Bloodborne at 4K/60fps. I'll even take a PC port like Horizon

It really sucks that Bloodborne hasn't gotten this treatment yet given the amazing work that's seemingly been done with games like Ghost of Tsushima and God of War

@swagbag713 If I didn't already have access to a good PC the exclusives at the moment that pique my interest are pretty few and far between as well

I'm hyped through the roof for Hellblade 2 and Fable, and I'm definitely interested in Everwild and the new Perfect Dark game the Initiative is working on, but I'm pretty sure none of those games have gameplay for them either let alone solid release windows

At present my interest in exclusive games comes like 95% from the PlayStation side

@swagbag713 Lmao I saw at Walmart CA the Series S was in stock for like 2 whole weeks so that gives a good indicator of how well it's selling compared to the Series X let alone the PS5

@Juvenlast As a Canadian customer this would help so greatly, especially for countries that don't have access to that PS Direct service where you can order the console directly from Sony themselves i.e. pretty much every country that isn't the US

@wiiware Incorrect. As of 2020 Nintendo is now Japan's richest company. Not even like just in gaming but as a whole. Nintendo by themselves are more profitable than all of Sony let alone just their gaming division. I believe the figure officially listed for their revenue at that point in time was equivalent to about 8 billion USD in terms of net cash

Same reason other acquisitions that have been thrown around like Atlus and Konami won't happen either. Sony doesn't have the cash that Microsoft or even Nintendo have by comparison

@JustPlainLoco Bluepoint is practically inevitable at this point. They've done multiplatform work before like MGS HD Collection but their content over the years has shifted way closer towards Sony's ecosystem than other console makers. The fact they were brought on for remakes of games specifically tied to Sony's history like Uncharted, Colossus and Demon's Souls makes them a key candidate to be acquired by them much like Insomniac

Now THIS is cool. Purchasing FromSoft is way out of financial bounds for Sony at the moment but if they're basically working more closely together from here on out they'll probably start to feel like practically a second party developer for them much like Square was to Nintendo, and then later Sony as well

I'm not holding my breath for Bloodborne 2 but it'd be nice if Demon's Souls was turned into its own series on PlayStation due to the remake reigniting interest in it, while Dark Souls remains multiplatform as always

Probably one of Konami's most criminally overlooked series and Suikoden II in particular is one of my favorite RPGs not made by Square or Atlus

@Ralizah I mean in terms of tone. Gameplay obviously differs since one is a stealth game and one is pure action, but considering how flashy and in your face both games are in terms of cinematography and even dialogue choices they're pretty comparable imo

I wouldn't count on stuff like the PS2 Castlevanias, the DS Castlevanias or any of the Metal Gears coming back for a long time

Metal Gear Rising is so slept on. Probably among my top 3 favorite Platinum games alongside Bayonetta 2 and NiER Automata

It doesn't have much in the way of an actual story but it feels so unique as an offshoot of the main series due to how over the top everything is

It makes MGS The Twin Snakes look tame by comparison

This is actually dope but shame they excluded Spider-Man and Miles Morales. I've been on the subreddit for that game series' community and there are some incredible posts of pictures taken using Photo Mode on both PS4 and PS5

Persona 5 Strikers is probably something I'm getting on PC first since after a while it became tiresome to put up with the obscenely long load times on console.
