@Rob_230 The fact that P4G was re-released only on PC and no other consoles tells me this is more of a reflection of SEGA's clear bias to putting legacy content on PC first before anything else
They pulled a similar tactic by bringing Yakuza to PC first after PlayStation. I'd be shocked honestly if they put Persona 4 Golden that quickly on any other consoles. PC is also apparently getting the Nocturne remaster as well based on datamine leaks in addition to Strikers and it's a safe bet that in terms of mainline Persona, P3 is probably next to get the Steam treatment. I'd say stuff like Persona 3 on Steam is way more likely at this point than Golden on other consoles
@OthmaneAD P4G sold 500K in its first WEEK on sale. I'm pretty sure it was already confirmed it was among the top 40 best selling Steam games of the entire year though its exact placement is unknown, while it was also among the top 25 new games released on Steam in 2020 and among the top 12 controller-compatible games. This is straight from Steam themselves
@HammerKirby3 Well P5R also came out like right when everything was going into lockdown but during the pandemic P4G was like their big game they highlighted as a success
It already broke like half a million in its first week so who knows where it's at now. If it wasn't that major of a success they definitely wouldn't be putting Strikers and the Nocturne remaster both on Steam almost immediately afterwards
I doubt SEGA's getting acquired by anyone anytime soon. Microsoft already secured a Japanese developer when they bought Zenimax and got ahold of Tango Gameworks
This probably has more to do with the significant losses they dealt with as a result of the pandemic, of which their biggest success was probably the sales output from Persona 4 Golden on PC, not even getting into them closing down their arcade joint in Akihabara
@PhhhCough She-Hulk will probably be considerably more agile considering she's been depicted as less brute and more a mix of acrobatics and physical strength in both the comics and stuff like the 90's Hulk cartoon and Marvel vs. Capcom, while War Machine will also have stuff like his shoulder mounted machine gun and access to additional artilery that Iron Man doesn't have
It's still a pretty uninspired and MCU-derivative roster imo but it's something
At this point you basically have to rely on luck and your ability to watch Twitter like a hawk if you want to get a PS5 earlier than possibly fall or holiday this year
2021 is going to be Atlus' best year in a while. Persona music on Spotify, Strikers, SMT III HD & SMT V, Persona's 25th anniversary, and the chance of us actually hearing details on Project Re:Fantasy
@itshoggie Initially Rare under Nintendo with GoldenEye but then EA got the license which led to stuff like Agent Under Fire, Nightfire, Everything or Nothing, GoldenEye Rogue Agent and From Russia with Love, which all released both during and slightly after Brosnan's tenure in the role
Afterwards, Activision got the license to produce games during the Daniel Craig era, starting with a game based on Quantum of Solace and eventually including stuff like the GoldenEye reimagining, 007: Blood Stone following in the vein of original Bond stories like Agent Under Fire and Nightfire, as well as 007 Legends which released as a tie in to Skyfall and to commemorate the film series' 50th anniversary in 2012
So is this going to still be published by SIE even on Switch, Xbox and PC? If so that's probably even more shocking than stuff like Ori coming to Switch or Horizon coming to PC
It's whatever. Not picking sides on this since award shows never color my interest in games nor do I feel they reflect the general audience reception to be credible enough
All I'll say is Persona 5 Royal and Ghost of Tsushima on top of the PS5 launching with Miles Morales and Demon's Souls cancelled out my incredibly mixed feelings on TLoU II as a whole
@BloodNinja PS4 got a few Arcade Archives games like Haunted Castle and some of the NEOGEO stuff like the older KoF and SamShos, but it doesn't look like it was anywhere near the amount they put up on the Switch eShop
@Gaming365247 Sony physically can't. Konami is way bigger than just its gaming division. Konami could probably license out IPs but they ain't getting acquired by anyone. Their pachinko, mobile and fitness services are too lucrative and valuable by themselves
I loved Shovel Knight and the aesthetics are definitely giving me Metroid vibes. I'll probably check this out in the future but this is a backlog game for now
Honestly even if this MGS1 remake ends up being real, I will always have a soft spot for Twin Snakes on GameCube
Looking back at it with the context of the subsequent MGS games, there's nothing really outlandish that happens in Twin Snakes that feels like it actually clashes with the rest of the series. It's less faithful to MGS1 specifically, but it does work well as a reimagining considering it came out around the time the series was beginning to become way more stylized anyway
@Alexface I wouldn't mind if they gave RE0 another chance. It had a great setup with the whole train sequence but basically fell flat on its face due to its convoluted inventory system. Code Veronica also deserves a total makeover considering not many people even played it when it originally released
Resident Evil 4 honestly doesn't need a remake. The original is practically ageless and is the game that set the foundation for literally every subsequent numbered entry in some capacity
@BearsEatBeets No Royal characters. It's a retroactive Royal sequel much like Arena coming out close to Golden meant they couldn't add Marie until Arena Ultimax
This game only focuses on the core Phantom Thieves sans Akechi and Kasumi. That isn't to say Royal isn't canon, but the game in general doesn't require you to have played Royal or its extra content to understand what's happening in Strikers. Positioning the story about half a year later gives it a more standalone feel much like Arena and Q's stories
The gameplay in this seems to have way more in common with Persona than Warriors. Even the shadow encounters aren't nearly as high in numbers and they still incorporate stuff like the Player Advantage system and the traditional battle mechanics like weakness exploitation. The social sim stuff however, is actually pretty surface level. Like for example the calendar only progressing in accordance with the story instead of there being actual time management aspects in regards to how you spend each day
Definitely going to preorder it on PC and pick it up on PS4 later. The PC version will benefit greatly from reduced load times, higher resolutions and mod support
Really hope I can get a PS5 sooner rather than later. This demo is giving me serious gothic horror vibes. Some of the interiors kind of remind me of P.T. in some ways, but that could also be the first person perspective as well
@wiiware Well that's a consequence of it not only being a significantly older title that came out years after its original release, but it's also a pretty unorthodox move for Sony considering they've never done anything of that scope before
Everyone who desperately wanted to play Horizon probably got PS4s to do so with the knowledge that it's a first party game. No one was actually expecting them to port it to Steam, and I doubt Sony themselves entertained such an idea for a while
But it's also practically free advertisment for the PlayStation brand to the PC audience and will probably help a little bit in getting more people to pick up PS5s in the long run with the knowledge that a sequel is one of the console's launch window exclusives, and Sony is definitely not going to be as lenient on PC porting as Microsoft is considering dedicated hardware is of way more importance to them and Nintendo compared to Microsoft
Meanwhile in Canada EB Games had a """restock"""" of consoles that took like 2 minutes to sell out presumably because of bots and everyone who genuinely wanted a console got stuck in an endless waiting room that might as well be solitary confinement
Shame on scalpers but also EB Games is a literal embarassment for their lack of awareness towards this crap and the country needs to publicly disown them
I'm glad to see that Arc System Works is one of the only Japanese fighting game developers that takes fighting game story modes and single player content in general seriously much like studios such as NetherRealm with Mortal Kombat and Injustice.
The single player offerings for games like DB FighterZ and Persona 4 Arena, while not incredible were really solid and definitely had a labor of love behind them when it came to respecting the source material
@GKO900 Like how Arena was also treated as a sequel to Persona 4 despite also having a completely different gameplay style that deviated hard from the traditional RPG gameplay of the main series in addition to being worked on by a developer that wasn't Atlus themselves?
They're still spinoffs in the sense that they deviate far enough from the gameplay of the numbered entries. They're narrative sequels but not sequels in terms of gameplay. The same is true for the Arena games, Dancing and Strikers
@Lando_ Switch version runs at half the framerate and has way worse loading times. Obviously the Steam version mitigates all of the aliasing and loading issues but in terms of consoles it's best played on PS4 Pro/PS5 easily
I might pick up the Switch version later to have it on the go for when I'm travelling but for now I'm preordering on PC
@GKO900 Honestly I'd take P4G on PC over PS4 at this point. Like yeah I'm surprised they did P4G on PC first but P5R likely started development before plans to support Steam were ever put in motion so it makes sense why Royal was given the PS4 treatment given their history with re-releases like P3 FES, P3P, P4G and Catherine Full Body
Plus I didn't necessarily see that much demand for P4G on PS4 after the fact until the Steam version was announced so there is that
Instead it's more likely that whatever major console Persona spinoff they do next will integrate more of Royal's content into its story like what happened with Marie being absent from P4A but showing up in P4AU and PQ
The game is more well received and just a better experience on PC like he said but that's not even going into the crazy bugs and glitches I've seen so far and especially the lack of what they advertised like multiple branching story options and more romance options than just Judy and Panam

JFO had frequent stuttering for me despite running the game on a pretty decently powerful PC setup and achieving a mostly smooth 60fps in most instances. This will at least be better than running the performance mode on PS4 Pro but just how much better

Persona has been on Nintendo consoles before, just not the numbered entries. Nintendo at least still has the Q games completely to themselves and not even to mention the rest of MegaTen

@LiterallyDoNotCare Sony has nothing to do with Persona's exclusivity. They don't publish nor fund the games
The only explanation here is that Atlus just wants to keep Persona locked to PlayStation for whatever reason, probably because that's where the core fanbase has been for the majority of the series' life, the same way they've approached Shin Megami Tensei and pretty much most of the non-Persona side games being exclusive or on Nintendo systems
P4G's PC success could probably change that mindset though. It was SEGA's big breakout success amid all the financial troubles they were burdened with during the pandemic. P5S and apparently Nocturne HD getting Steam ports is definitely a step towards that
@ShogunRok I feel like P5R did enough personally for me to justify it not just being a DLC or some sort of big patch that just adds to the existing game, but I get the complaints, especially considering P5R is releasing on the same exact platform the original debuted on a la Persona 3 and FES
