Re: TGS 2017: Here's 24 Minutes of Glorious Monster Hunter: World PS4 Gameplay

@Hapuc Most Monster Hunter Games have some semblance of a story, but it would seem that World is taking a more cinematic approach to the storytelling this time with spoken narrative and in-engine cutscenes. Also, you typically hunt and kill monsters especially when starting out, but there is a capture mechanic in the game which yields higher drop rates for monster parts.

Interesting. Last time I played this on PC I remember getting outgunned from a distance by other players with better/more gear. There was essentially nothing I could do to help my team as a new player. May try again sometime but it seems after the game came out of beta things changed quite a bit.

Still stand by the "free" games being more of a scam and the fact that I can build a PC for around $500 with mutliplatform multiplayer games that will run better. The exclusives can be great, but the online being behind a paywall (retail wise) just doesn't seem viable to me. $50 a year for PS+ $10 less than xbox live gold, but still feels more like a false benefit. I understand the "why not?" sentiment for those who'll be playing online on PS4 (due to the fact that you only have to pay once a year), but that doesn't mean it's right.

Re: Talking Point: What Are Your Thoughts on the PS4's Launch Lineup?

That Wii U hate though. Well I think that PS4 has a plethora of titles throughout each venue such as retail, indie, and free to play. The only place it really lacks is genre variety. There are many action titles and of them there are mostly FPS. I'm trying to search my brain for games day 1 that don't pack that punch. The racing games seem to be in a decent position. If i recall I think Forza 5 is an Xbone launch title and that series has an audience unlike Drive Club so PS4 definitely has ground to gain in that area. On another note this is Killzone's chance to truly shine and I'm hopeful that Shadow Fall can hook me on the universe as KZ3, while decent mechanically, wasn't compelling in spirit.

@get2sammyb This conversation is getting a bit tired (it's been a good one though), but my concern is mostly in the digital only games. Games such as binding of isaac are surely going to be digital only and the rental problem really gets in the way in such a situation. PS+ is definitely important for the whole playstation experience and I personally believe the service could do a scaling down on the "free" games catch. Hopefully I haven't dragged this on, but thanks for the input Sammy.

@Reverend_Skeeve Like I said I want to own the game not rent it from the service. If I choose to go a year without PS+ I want to be able to play every game that doesn't require the service instead of being restricted access and purchasing it at that time. PS+ has the potential to accumulate a library of games I play regularly that I won't be able to purchase at the time of my cancellation. In the end like I've said before I want to OWN my games.

Still questioning the frame rate. It definitely looks nice and the effects displayed make sense in a sci-fi world. I definitely wouldn't mind giving the game a try. I am also still frustrated at the fact that PS+ is required for MP though. Diverging into that topic (OT maybe) though my gripes lie mostly in the "free games" incentive. Many games I'd rather buy to own are ending up "free".
