Day one purchase for me: just got to decide between PS5 or PC!

Know you’ve mentioned faster loading times, but specifically for MyRISE - have they cut the amount of loading screens? Its was ridiculous last year.

@LifeGirl Well, if I was Neil with an absolute winner of an IP, I wouldn’t want to end the lives or stories of my biggest characters until I knew the franchise was definitely at its end. In other words, I think he knew this was a trilogy from the start but given recent hacks over the years and fan abuse, didn’t want to announce anything too early and saved his teams from said abuse and hacks.

@Atreus97 You’ve got the fact there’s so many who were gutted he killed off Joel and the phobic community hating on Abby/Lev.

But in reality, the guy’s an absolute genius and both Joel dying and Abby’s character were some of the greatest inclusions into the franchise.

@get2sammyb Sadly we’re a subscription economy (I think that’s about to change though) so I can absolutely see a world in which PS do first day releases. There will be a Netflix style inflation of fees with this.

As for cheaper games - I should say cheaper games to develop which in hand are cheaper at sale. In other words, I didn’t mean selling an AAA (or Ubisoft’s AAAA……) for cheaper.

Three things I’ll add to this;

1. AI will make it cheaper in the long run, whether we like its inclusion or not.

2. What this article doesn’t account for is that a lot of countries finances are down the pan. This in turn means people’s wallets are smaller and naturally buying games is a last thought.

3. Live service will die off, PS will have a break while they arrange some single player titles to be developed. This break gives PS a chance to sell even more remasters which will be cheaper for them and bridge the gap before they have new first party property to sell again.

I don’t think the situations awful. It’s the state of affairs at the moment and these things have a habit of coming and going. Gaming is no less popular than it always has been, and the populations only getting bigger.

Also, as always, there’s an argument for cheaper games meaning more sold and potentially long term investment, or to change their subscription service to include first day releases and be in keeping with the times.

Hope they’ve genuinely redesigned career mode. If they have, it’s a day one purchase for me.

Decided to go DLC mad and will play Tropico 6 with DLC’s on my Steam Deck then I might try the new update for Dying Light 2.

@BlaizeV Agreed. The fact they’re coming out literally now means this was all on the cards over a year ago.

Given it’s likely to only provide a small performance boost; there’s no chance.

Anyhow, I think what might be a nice addition and somewhat of a middle ground would be for PlayStation to pop first day releases on to PS Plus Extra for a whole month (in its entireity). Will allow some hardcore people to finish it and others to enjoy a decent chunk and taste of it before committing to a discounted purchase of the game.

Allows for additional subscriptions as well as not hampering general game sales too much.

Whatever time the PS5 has left I’m not being conned twice.

I won’t be buying a PS6 at all until cross-releases stop.

Can’t believe how long we’ve been cheated with games that are prohibited by old technology.

Gamepass coming to PS

This got me thinking because I’m also waiting for Dying Light 2 DLC that maybe, if a developer prefers to work for a while on DLC and make it more of an expansion, then perhaps industry practice should be that they hook it to the sequel/follow up game.

Basically you’d buy Elden Ring 2 and if you pre-order, you get the DLC before the game releases. Gets you back into the world of the game and would serve as a semi-prologue to the base game.

Prison Architect 2 deserves its place in March. Looking forward to it.

Be about 5 years development so maybe bit short but I would think they’d want a PS6 release rather than wait for a cross-gen so they don’t risk any kind of similar Cyberpunk game issue.

Gamepass will be on PS soon imo. I’d be surprised if it’s just selling games on other platforms without Gamepass given they would be gambling on people coughing up. Much easier to gamble on adding millions to their subscription service.

Too much of a departure for LoU although this will possibly explain the fantasy IP that’s been floated around as being their next big thing? Might even be a well hidden announcement for it. After all, Neil said in the same documentary about the power of marketing.

I watch ChristopherOdd on YouTube and he’s played a section of this - looks awesome and very unique with its turn based combat.

I’m pretty stunned by the reaction. Like, you can choose not to make it canon by simply ignoring the game and playing Arkham.

I feel like there’s two strands of people who aren’t happy: those that would have complained anyway as they were simply out for this games blood, and those who can’t see past the fact that all of this is fictional anyhow and really ought not to be worried about.

I reckon more time could be spent putting some of that energy into the world’s injustices.

Also, rumour has it their presentation tomorrow will unveil new Frontier projects.

Great news, it’s a brilliant game having played it on PC. Building can be quite confusing when you build bridges etc though. Be interested if it being bought to console might improve PC controls/make it have controller support?

If this State of Play is good, and it’s a strong old if, it would give weight to the rumours that last year was merely a weak one due to the Activision court case.

Gotta agree with the other comments - Jedi Survivor isn’t truly open world, it’s very constrained and offers very limited paths in all honesty.

Anyhow, super excited for this one. Little confused by the notion that there’s one ending but you choose your path. Surely it needs at least two endings for the pathways but regardless, very excited.

A weird one this game with me. I loved it initially but then the novelty wore off and actually it wasn’t the best of games.

I might get back to this but I think I’m sorting of holding off for the sequel already knowing they’ll improve story/side missions.

I really want more Bully gameplay implemented in the sequel. Let me choose my timetable and have decisions in conversations. More RPG elements.

This is an interpretation of the game, not the game. I think they won’t make her ripped for this. Doesn’t need to be. If they give her a henchman that does the dirty on her behalf then all done. Could include a brother into the equation for example.

Said it before and I’ll say it again, with the news of the Last of Us multiplayer title being cancelled, I think Sony will gradually cancel their upcoming live service titles and reprioritise their single player focus.
