@gollumb82 Possibly, but don't remember feeling nauseous from it, just headache/eye strain but maybe if I'd have tried for a longer period it would have progressed to sickness? Like I say, maybe the way the movement works might have been a factor, but not sure why Astro would be different, maybe because I'm not seeing through Astro's eyes like I would be in re maybe? Not sure. Although saying that, you are looking through Batman's eyes in arkham so not sure if it would be that after all.
The picture was slightly blurry but never going to get it crystal clear with the specs of the psvr (from what I gather anyway). I think the main issue was the fact that everything is just brown and maybe that muddies the detail (on an already less than perfect image [fine playing it not vr]) and what with the pop in and whatever else it made for a visual cocktail that just didn't work as intended with my eyes. From what I have read, everything is definitely better on the pro unit instead of the base. Unfortunately, unless you try it I guess you wont be able to get a definitive answer either way, as presumably it is a different experience for each person.
@gollumb82 People seem to love the vr on re7 so it may have just been me and my ***** eyesight (prone to migraine), but yeah for me on an original ps4 it actually gave me a headache, and I tried several times. Not sure if it was the pop in, the low resolution, bad textures, the movement or whatever (I notice batman was a teleport movement instead of actual movement so maybe that was a factor?). Like I say, I may well just be in the minority, as everyone seems to rave about it. But had no such problems with astro and arkham so I don't know 🤷♂️
Is the first one going to kill me like Re7 did on a base phat boy ps4's vr? Or is it going to be actually playable like arkham vr and astro bot....? Because I really want to try it, but not if it's going to physically hurt like re7 did.
Actually, the more I think about it, this ABSOLUTELY should happen. Take netflix. People were initially chuffed with this service because it had all the benefits of live tv, but without the ads and everything else that came with it, you could pick up and leave it as you wish and come back to it. It had decent shows and people were generally happy. Then another streaming service came along and took away some of the appeal. Then another, and another, and eventually people that were initially thrilled at the idea of cutting the cable of tv, now had the same problem they had in having to subscribe to too many options to get all the shows they want.
This is a similar thing. There's now way too many choices for streaming content (gamepass, now, ubi+, ea vault, etc), so why not tryto get the boys to play nice and consolidate all that and benefit everyone.
I'm all for it. Also get all of ps now on xbox. The idea is that these services appear in as many places as possible, so why not. It's no different than having EA vault or whatver it's called on a system. It's heading to being only a store front/os/launcher anyway so why not.
@Ken_Kaniff I'd imagine Jim is feeling the wrath of the shareholders at the moment. Not 1 but two huge publisher acquisitions and a 20 billion dollar stock drop since he's come. They'll be absolutely tanning his ass.
@Mhoney Again, nowadays there's exclusive content on streaming services, Netflix, D+, Peacock, Appletv, everyone wants a slice of the exclusive pie, it's just packaged differently depending on the way media is consumed at the time.
@Mhoney You say that, but even stuff like CD's back in the day had exclusive content. Digipacks, or even Japan exclusive songs or whatever. Obviously not so much of an issue these days due to streaming and youtube, but they certainly used to be a big thing.
Films have extended cuts and directors cuts. Hell, Disney had the fabled vault where they would literally lock away films. If there is a way for publishers to fleece more money out of the customers, they will find and exploit it.
Said it in a different article, but just do a pc PS store (launcher like steam), stick as many classic games (from ps1-5) on there that they can, and gain some much needed extra £ that way. They're in the process of bringing their library over so just streamline that, especially whilst manufacturing issues remain for the consoles themselves.
Maybe buy SquareEnix or Capcom (both are viable). And sort out some exclusivity deals with From.
@GalacticBreakdown Yes I do. I also know that the most recent film alone has made over a billion that they've had to share with Sony. Presumably Sony paid x amount for the games exclusivity as well, which again means profits would have been shared. Spidey is literally the biggest superhero in the world atm (more than superman and batman) and the potential for stuff from that ip alone is huge Not forgetting that psn made more than the xbox and Nintendo divisions (combined possibly?). So why not just purchase the whole company and take all the profits instead of sharing.
The mouse will swoop in for the Sony purchase, for that sweet sweet spider-man cash cow. With the success of the latest film, and the insomniac games that sold millions and millions, plus the wolverine game (presumably more down the line) not forgetting the venom property as well as mobius and any other spidery property they got going on. Gives Disney the perfect gateway to the gaming industry they left previously.
PS launcher coming soon, ALL playstation games now available on pc through the launcher and day and date releases for steam/epic. Hardware manufacture almost completely shut down to try and cut costs. This is HUGE.
@lolwhatno lol, what? No. (I'm not going to get a better chance to use that).
Sorry my dude I mean no offence but I likes my Peter Griffin butt floss. Unfortunately it's either that, or a turtle with the face of an old man from the same video as the coconut fella so I'm sure you can imagine.
@jruasap Definitely play through them in order, just know that 1 has not aged as well as the others and is a bit rough round the edges. Still an entertaining few hours though.
2 by a very large margin. I stand by 4 being a disappointment, other than the scene where you are being dragged behind the van, good lord. I hope they manage to slap Golden Abyss on a ps4/5, that deserved more than it was able to work with.
@Shigurui that's awesome. I'm not even on xbox or make purchases (other than the odd pc game pass sub when it's like a quid) and mine just comes from the 2 minutes a day of searching via bing, mounts up quite quickly with the bonus streaks. I think Sony had something similar at one point but it was USA only I believe.
I'd hazard a guess at a selection of rotating ps1/2 games with trophy support to download. Maybe upscaled in a similar way the xbox would with legacy stuff.
Rotation of Ps3 streaming as they aren't going to piss about with getting an emulator going on the ps5 when it can be streamed.
Maybe a ps4 IGC like they used to do on the ps3. Or just access to the ps5 ps+ games that should be available on ps4 anyway.
And access to now.
I don't think that's too much if they are combining the services anyway. Also, I can only assume that they will do something to eff it up and will only have the benefits for ps5 users.
I said 10-20. But if a game interests me I will happily indulge in a 200 hour playthrough (MGS V) or a good rpg (Digimon CS/HM at a combined 230, Ni No Kuni at 120). But 10-20 to get everything done is probably optimal for me.
Mgs v gave me 200. Digimon cyber sleuth 130 (and then another 100 for hackers memory). Got 600 out of pokemon x back in the day. Absolutely loved the first DL but there is no way in hell that i could have got anywhere near that. The only thing I can think of is if this has a real time farming sim built in to the mechanics for the survival.
Out of the list, there is 16 that I either downloaded to play or would consider doing so. This includes 5 that I probably would if didn't have elsewhere (usually from Epic freebies).
Other than that, no good for me. Though I can certainly see the value in some months just not my personal tastes.
@get2sammyb "Obviously stuff like IO Interactive's James Bond and the new Syphon Filter are in development now, so there's maybe not the gap there once was for this" That's a typo right, not a massively preemptive leak.?
Loved the ps4 vr, even if I didn't use it all that much I got it an absolute steal of a price. I really liked Arkham VR, the playroom and absolutely fell in love with Astro Bot. Still have Moss and all of the freebies they've given for it, including Saints and sinners so have lots to keep me using it if I ever have the time or need. Re7 physically hurt but everyone else seemed to love it in vr so guess that's on me.
I would not expect much change from £500 for vr2. That's before they do the wireless revision a couple of years down the line. But it's an interesting bit of kit certainly.
Honestly at the point where I have little to no interest in anything ND comes out with, think they absolutely peaked at UC2 and haven't got anywhere near it since. Having said that, it's always an absolute graphical showcase at the very least.
I am literally in the 0% in liking the look of that Evil West according to the survey. I wont be aiming for a ps5 next year however, waiting on a slim/pro and more stuff, so wont be purchasing said game anytime soon. I hope it reviews well however.
It's pretty self explanatory I'd have thought:
ReMASTER - Same thing with better visuals or frame rate - MGS HD collection.
ReMAKE - Take what was initially there, and rebuild it following the same basic framework that was already existing (N Sane Trilogy/CTR/Spyro)
ReIMAGINING - FF7 Remake. Take the story, rebuild it from the ground up, do things different but pay homage to the original.
forgot ReBOOT - Tomb raider 2013 trilogy. Same characters but completely different to initial games.
Yeah it looks fine, but as someone who only owns a ps4 (original, not even the pro) and rates HZD as my game of the generation, I am still disappointed they didn't go ps5 only and use that as an absolute showcase of what the ps5 could do.
As good as this looks (although granted, needs a few cans of Mr Sheen before release), SE really need to stop starting 97 projects at once. Get FF7R part 2 out the door, get FF16 out the door and then maybe commit some time to the other newer projects.
Didn't watch it, but there seemed to be some cool stuff announced in wonder woman, slitterhead and especially space marine. Ss game play was OK but that's not necessarily enough.
