Re: The Last of Us 2 Tops Software Charts in Japan

Curious to see the reception there. Shares similar nihilistic themes to a lot of Asian films. The Beat Takeshi gangster films, and Oldboy come to mind.
I'm on the farm now, so must be really close to the end. It's brilliant and brave storytelling. Haven't seen even a film, let alone a game, that cuts this deep for a long time.

@LiamCroft
Did you guys see this:

Pretty big news if accurate, worth it's own news story?

There will be a day one next gen update patch for the backwards compatibilty version.

And then 2021/2022 the native PS5 version will be released, and will be free for anyone with the PS4 version.

So this pretty much confirms backwards compatibility games do have the option to be 'enhanced' with a patch from the developer.

Re: Capcom's PS5 Sci-Fi Adventure Pragmata Gets Extended Trailer

@Col_McCafferty It stands out so much, because the rest of the graphics are incredible. I assume she's a robot/android as she ends up on the moon at the end. So maybe they wanted it to look fake. But it's RE engine, and Mia's long hair in RE7 is really bad too, so might just be a crappy system for long hair.

Re: PS4 Game Upgrades on PS5 Will Be Up to Publishers, But Sony Will Offer Flexible Support

Like I've said elsewhere, MS only need this smart delivery thing because their first party games are going to be released for current and next gen consoles for the next year or two.

Sony aren't going to do that, and have already said their PS5 games are for PS5 only.

For third party games it's up to the publisher for both Series X and PS5. The system is in place if they want to use it, and has been since PS4 was released.

Re: We're Just Getting Started with PS5 Software, Says Sony

@pip_muzz If it's any consolation, the PS Blog says:
"The latest adventure in the Spider-Man universe will build on and expand Marvel’s Spider-Man through an all-new story. Players will experience the rise of Miles Morales as he masters new powers to become his own Spider-Man. With PS5’s ultra-fast SSD, players can near-instantaneously fast-travel across Marvel’s New York City, or feel the tension of each one of Miles’s web-swings, punches, web shots, and venom blasts with the DualSense wireless controller’s haptic feedback. Highly-detailed character models and enhanced visuals across the game intensify the story of Miles Morales as he faces great, new challenges while learning to be his own Spider-Man."

I really don't think the remaster interpretation is correct. I think it's going to be a shorter stand alone game. As long the price point reflects that, I'm happy. But we'll see.

Re: Latest The Last of Us 2 Video Dives Into the Detail

I've not watched the state of play, because I don't want to see anymore before I play it. Will look forward to watching these behind the scenes videos when I've completed the game.

But just watching this guitar scene again, it's going to look better than probably half the third party next gen launch games.

Re: Guide: Will PS5 Have Smart Delivery for PS4 Games?

phil_j

@Tharsman They have already said backwards compatibility will feature boosted modes. Again this isn't what Microsoft have said. Because MS have committed to all first party titles being x box one and series x compatible, they need to do this. If for example HZD 2 is a launch title I can guarantee there won't be a Ps4 version, which is the opposite to what MS have said they will do. Hence why they need smart delivery. As I said, for 3rd party titles it's up to the publishers. CDPR have pretty much said it be the case for Cyberpunk. And I believe this did happen for some PS3/4 cross gen titles.

Re: Guide: Will PS5 Have Smart Delivery for PS4 Games?

phil_j

I don't expect there to be a smart delivery system on ps5 because I think Sony will go the opposite way and have Ps5 exclusives. Smart delivery is irrelevant to tlou2 and Got because there is no Ps5 version, they will run on Ps5 but that's just backwards compatibility. It's also irrelevant to third party studios because it's up to them, not Sony or Microsoft.
