@adf86 It does take a little getting used to with the controls. Healing is done with the spike or your potions. I found most of the info right on the HUD and even more in the Training Area. And I believe the timed events are specific quest events, the whole game isn't timed.
@get2sammyb My friends and I had a lot of fun playing this. I really enjoyed the parkor and the fast ways to travel with glow bugs and vines. The animation is amazing. Trying all the weapons in the beta was great to get a feel for what play style fits you the most.
I do hope they address some griefer points, like you can knock people out of looting by hitting them. Overall, this is on my list!
Norman Reedus looked amazing. I really enjoyed this trailer. It's heavy in all sorts of symbolism. I don't care what the game will be like--this trailer can stand on it's own for what it is; a fascinating sci-fi short that asks more questions than give answers.
@KirbyTheVampire Not just old people... I believe there are quite a few people out there of all ages who still stigmatize video games in negative light; who don't understand the medium. Unfortunately, video games are still seen more negative than positive and blow-hard politicians see video games as an easy target to get on the "good side" of their constituents. Hopefully this will be a positive opportunity to have a discussion on what video games are all about.
@get2sammyb True. I sure don't own any and the way of disc players is slowly declining. I blame Apple. If 4K streaming becomes the norm, why have a 4K player? I'll be picking up a PS4 Pro this holiday season if I find a good price. Then the 4K TV. Time for some quality-of-life choices for myself.
@dellyrascal That's been a similar theme in most multiplayer shooter games. The system is setup to reward better players. There's no way around that. Better players earn more points, therefore earning the better cards and gear faster. The powerful get more powerful while the weak stay weak, until they catch up.
@KirbyTheVampire Agreed... poor use of admin. @LiamCroft I think this is a good review. I also thought the campaign was troped and turned into a training mission for the other heroes. I was expecting more, I suppose--my bad! I still feel The Force Unleashed story was one of the better SW video game stories. @BAMozzy Maybe a 7 for me, as I have been enjoying it, but mostly playing with friends. I do get a little bored playing by myself. I think the lack of more game modes will shorten the games longevity.
@Th3solution They've added a lot! I do recommend going back in when your game queue is low. I started over about a month ago and was enjoying it. I haven't been back now that I started H:ZD on NG+ UH and the new DLC. I'll get back to it again as @Dange said, it's a good game to chill out in.
@Neolit Haha gotcha, I see what you mean... maybe since I've been gaming since the 70s, those walls seem part of the experience. I would love to play BotW for sure. I'm really happy it does the Zelda brand proud.
@themcnoisy I've done that one before. I've only fallen to my death once while doing the crazy rock-hop.
I really fell in love with the series with AC2. It was a wonderful ride, right up there with UC2 that year. As mentioned in the article, the similar play mechanics game after game, made me less interested in a lot of the follow-ups. I did enjoy Syndicate--which was the first AC game I played since Black Flag, which was a ton of fun but AC2 is my favorite. My interest is piqued for Origins though, so I imagine myself picking that up when the price drops a little. My gaming backlog is still piling up! Us poor gamers...
Don't forget the RNG factor on these lootboxes. ::: shakes fist at the RNG god:::
I already have it preordered. I play with a great group of friends, so I know I'll have fun with them. If I didn't have that circle to play with, I'd probably not buy it.
No Vita, so no Golden Abyss. I recently replayed UC2 & UC3 on the remastered collection I got cheap (thank you PS Plus) and got to play UC1 for the first time. I really enjoyed it. I like your order @get2sammyb and great article.
Uncharted 2 was my first UC and made me such a fan of this series. It was ahead of it's time--action game that felt as better than most movies and I was playing the main protagonist! Truly awesome. Blew me away. Nathan's humor and Sully's friendship was great.
Uncharted 3 was done well too. The opening brawl in an Irish pub, hell yeah. Fall out of an airplane, you betcha.
Uncharted 4 was a great ride. I do agree, tha pacing was off a little, but it had so much going on. Jeep. Prison. Scuba. Jungle. Pirates. I did like the addition of Elana later in the story. She was tops and acted how I probably would if in such a scenario.
Lost Legacy was so much fun. I truly enjoyed that one and played through it again not too long ago. Definitely worth another playthrough. Nadine and Chloe are fun to get to know better.
"There’s a world not too far away from now where video games move from being a discrete, conscious experience to an indiscreet, subconscious experience," WTF does this even mean? Must've spent weeks coming up with that line of BS.
I guess I'm not understanding how this would be different than releasing games and continuous support of the games. There would still be release dates, etc. EA just wants you to pay for something you haven't played or purchased yet. Really? F-off EA.
@Acquiescence Lady Maria is a boss in Old Hunter DLC. She wields Rakuyo, a katana style sabre that splits into a sword and dagger (which you can get later for yourself after taking down the annoying shark giants). It's spin move has a knock back--very useful. Some players tote it's the best weapon in the game. She was a fun battle. Her outfit is mad stylish and my character is still wearing it. She puts the "blood" in Bloodborne.
I haven't played this game before. When it came out, I was at a different place in my life and my PS2 was in a box in a friend's garage. I'm looking forward to this.
New job. New apartment. Slowly getting new items to enhance my quality of life at home. Definitely on the list is a 4K TV and I will upgrade to the PS4 Pro from my OG PS4. Too bad it doesn't have the better Blu-ray player in it for all that 4K-ness I'll be migrating into.
Now, to decide on a good 4K TV that won't break the bank.
I am still amazed there are no SW single player games for this gen. Fans have been dying for something ever since the poor The Force Unleashed 2 back on PS3. I'm sure it's all about licensing, etc. but sheesh... I would think it wold be a goldmine for any developer/publisher. I still remember being Darth Vader in TFU2 tearing through the wookies. So. Much. Fun.
@ShogunRok I must say, this is AMAZING and totally fun. I can't wait!
I think @PK_Wonder does have a point, as some of these match-ups are brutal for a round one. Eliminating these big names like either Drake or JM in the first round does tend to suck the wind out of the sails. You wouldn't have to seed the list, but take into account these type of big name match-ups so early. The drama doesn't get a chance to build up.
Jeez... who designs this stuff? Boss hired in 1996, "Great! Looks just like a MS Word template. I love those!" I'm a graphic designer and this is baaaaad... slap a couple emblems on it and call it good? Really? meh The Vader PS4 one was nice and the controller was even better. This one? I'm with Sammy... RUBBISH
@PaperyWhiteBoy @kyleforrester87 I agree the side quests and such were not all that engaging and taking out bandit camps could've been more challenging, but the story did grab me enough I wanted to finish it--and I did!
Yes, a better loot/weapon/skill tree system would have enhanced the game more and made NG+ more inviting, Bloodborne-esque style. More incentive to do more side quests, even for cosmetic items would have been fun. I'm looking forward to the DLC and see what enhancements they've come up with. I think this IP has huge potential for future games. Fighting giant robot dinos just doesn't get old with their battle mechanics.
@Furtin You don't need a jet pack to get to the roof in Strike. There are stairs inside. True, not everyone can get the battle score upgrades, but most seem to. The loot crate system will put the pay-to-win higher and separate the player base since those gold cards really do rack up stats and abilities. Granted, really good players won't need to rely on the cards as much but the average player will, especially those coming to play new in say 6 months.

@rjejr Good points! But the Kara tech demo is not relevant since they even admitted it wasn't a game concept at the time. Showing game concepts/demos at shows is not really announcing games either. So, they announce a new Zelda game at E3 2014 and everyone goes "YAY!" but Nintendo didn't have but the Wii U out, so obviously it would be for some new Nintendo box.
Sure, some games get pushed back, others get moved to the next console as the newer box gets closer. I think they are getting wiser on announcing releases since all the backlash the gaming community has given the publishers the past couple years. One good thing from No Man's Sky poor release, eh? I do believe it begins to hurt their sales, so they have been listening to us. At least that's my current hope... ha!
And as for Sucker Punch... I have no idea what's going on there. Its been years. BUT! They haven't announced anything, so it's all conjecture.
Maybe the term "announced" means different things to you and I. Cheers!
@rjejr I believe the PS5 is too far out for games to be announced now. Why announce a game that is coming on a new console before that console is even exisits? Haha, I'd fire the marketing people for that one
