Re: Star Wars Battlefront 2 Leak Leads to EA Clamp Down

@get2sammyb I still play this with a group of friends and we still have a lot of fun. I sometimes join them on their Twitch streams. The biggest thing for me with the current SWB is the lack of balance. They included gimicky items that unbalance the game. And the way they split the player-base with the DLC content. The DLC queue system is pretty poor design.

I'm looking forward to seeing how they manage this next game.

Re: Review: Mass Effect: Andromeda (PS4)

@ShogunRok Good solid review! I still picked it up and I'm sure I'll enjoy the "Mass Effect" feel you mentioned.
@lixei32 I did enjoy DA:I but there wasn't much to play when it came out. Then The Witcher 3 came out and I never went back to DA:I lol

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn Accused of Cultural Appropriation

@Cyph0Lax @ThroughTheIris56 @GraveLordXD @Mr_Alejo Well, let's be careful we don't trip over our privilege. If you're not a minority, then it's impossible to know what it's like to live in their shoes.

Fighting stereotypes is healthy as it creates conversation and brings awareness to the privileged state. Blaming it on "political correctness" diminishes the point of tolerance and diversity, essentially giving a green light to ignore the damage caused by racial insensitivity.

Re: Hands On: Is Disc Jam the Next Rocket League?

Adding my two cents in: Rocket League first off, has cars that you drive; second, it has cars that you drive fast; third, it has cars you drive fast and smack a giant ball to try and score goals.
This game looks fun, but lacks that speed, flying through the air and the creative dynamics of Rocket League. IMHO, of course.

Re: Talking Point: Are You Enjoying Horizon: Zero Dawn on PS4?

@AFCC I've had some odd sound moments in parts of the game where the sound design isn't consistent. For example, walking up stairs, the sound changed instantly to a completely different sound set. It was enough that I noticed it and broke the immersion feeling.
Not a big deal, as the Witcher 3 had some crazy sound moments too (and I'm not talking the creepy children singing )

Re: Guide: How to Level Up Quickly in Horizon: Zero Dawn

@Gamer83 For me, it depends on the type of grinding. Repeated mission running over and over to farm for gear i.e. Destiny or Warframe, then no thank you. I'm tired of the RNGx(RNG) game mechanic.
Running around in RPG open-world farming/hunting/questing, I can do.

This is about objectification of women in video games, not about being offended by some cheeky tushy exposed in the game. It's the stereotyping of women as sex objects and things like this add to this culture.

I'm a woman and I'm not offended by the sexy display of their outfits but I am saddened that women are still sex objects in video games when you can blow their clothes off (more of less). Or have cartoonish huge bosoms like some characters in SMITE.

Granted, it's getting much better, but as @kyleforrester87 put it, this is rather pointless in the game.

Re: Ubisoft to Release Fewer Games as Focus Shifts to Long-Term Support

starhops

Hmmm, I'm putting The Witcher 3 and Bloodborne in this mindset. Would I rather keep paying for really good DLCs once or twice a year or play a new game? Maybe a little of both for me. Granted neither one of those have the online multiplayer base Ubisoft seems to be focusing on, but I know I would love another Witcher DLC story to fall into.

Re: Nioh Stock Is Already a Little Light on the Ground

@get2sammyb Could it be more about price point to profit over manufacturing costs over digital? I mean, if they don't make enough discs, they force more into digital copies which is more profit. We might see more of this model in the future with less physical copies available.
I wonder what the digital/disc ratio is these days for games.

Re: Grab Your Weapons, For Honor's Open Beta Is Live on PS4

starhops

I'd like to try it out. I've watched some videos and there looked to be some cheese moves with certain weapons and characters that were near impossible to beat. Hopefully those things will get tweaked as the game rolls forward like most PvP type games.
20GB?! GREAT SCOTT!

Re: Feature: The Best Games on PS4 - Winter 2017 Edition

@Ralizah Did you say you've played both TLOU and Bloodborne? For me, two amazing games and to slate TLOU characters as "uninteresting" seems pretty out there. I would say that might be true up until you meet Ellie and begin to work your way through the story. Keep in mind, it's also almost 4 years old and still holds it's own just fine.
Bloodborne was better for me than Souls games because of its faster pace. Some of the best boss fights I've ever played against and the DLC multiplied that x2.
@kyleforrester87 I agree. I enjoyed Journey, but I've only gone back to play a couple times through. Not sure it deserves #1
Opinions... we all got 'em!

@get2sammyb "It reminded me of BioShock in that you have a bunch of tools and you can choose how you want to use them."
Yeah, I really like games with good fighting style options. From what I've seen, the combat looks almost like a class system in itself. Would you say that, Sammy, having played it?

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn Still Looks Mighty Impressive in New PS4 Trailer

starhops

@Matroska I still feel there can be too much "hand-holding" the developers create for players. I hope I don't always have a highlighted path placed before me, like Tomb Raider. Even Uncharted 4 had a few too many highlighted paths, but they did a good job in delaying any help your NPC might offer. It wasn't perfect, but it was much better.
