Re: "We've Lost the Console Wars," Says Trillion Dollar Underdog Xbox

@burning_as_souls I was fortunate to not be affected by the RROD, though it's worth mentioning I didn't get a 360 until 2009 which was after at least one revision. But I did prefer it to my PS3. What swayed me was that disaster of a presentation in 2013, as well as only selling the Xbone with Kinect initially. It was as simple as "I couldn't care less about Kinect, so let's save $100 and go with a PS4." And I haven't owned an Xbox since the 360.

Re: "We've Lost the Console Wars," Says Trillion Dollar Underdog Xbox

It's hard to feel sorry for MS. They keep saying it's not as simple as having quality games, but it really is. PlayStation has always been my main console, but I also have a Switch because I don't want to miss Nintendo's 1st party offerings. If Xbox had an equivalent of God of War or Zelda, you can bet I'd have a Series S (or maybe even X) on my shelf as well. But I don't, because there's no reason to. Yeah backwards compatibility blah blah blah, but if you're hoping people buy your console simply to play games from 2 or 3 generations ago, you're doing it wrong.

Re: Starfield, Redfall Exclusivity 'Powerful Evidence' Against Xbox's Activision Buyout, Claims FTC

tangyzesty

It's one thing to have games or franchises that have always been exclusive (Uncharted, God of War, Halo) and another thing when when somebody wants to pull out their johnson financially and make titles that have previously been multiplatform (Elder Scrolls, Fallout, CoD) and make them exclusive. I'm not sure why people are having such a hard time making that distinction.

Re: Now May Be the Best Time to Play Forspoken on PS5

I feel like this game gets way more hate than it deserves, personally I really liked it. I enjoyed it more than Hogwarts Legacy even. To each their own, but I have a suspicion that most of the people piling on the game haven't actually played it.

Re: Xbox Boss Admits Microsoft Can't 'Outconsole' PS5

tangyzesty

I think Spencer is missing the point entirely. If your games are good enough, people will play them even if they are established in another ecosystem. For example, I have a PS5 and PlayStation has been my main console for over a decade...but I also have a Switch, because Nintendo's 1st party games are incredible and I don't want to miss out on them. Xbox has no exclusives that even remotely come close to the 1st party offerings from Sony and Nintendo, and that has always been and always will be a problem for them in my opinion.

Great games aren't everything? Well, to me, they're a pretty important factor, which is why I've owned Sony consoles for the last decade plus and haven't had an Xbox since the 360. And there's nothing on the horizon that sounds like it's going to convince me to pick up a Series X any time soon.

Re: Soapbox: I No Longer Think Subscriptions Like PS Plus, Xbox Game Pass Are the Future of Gaming

tangyzesty

PlayStation doesn't need to compete with Game Pass, because what they're doing already is working. I'll buy maybe 2-3 games (2022 was Elden Ring, Forbidden West & Ragnarok) at full price each year, but otherwise my backlog is big enough that I can wait for anything I'm interested in to go on sale. Thankfully Sony isn't Nintendo and is pretty generous about putting big name titles on sale after 6-12 months on the market. And if I find myself with a bunch of AAA titles I'm really interested in, I subscribe to GameFly for a month or two which is significantly cheaper than buying them all at $60-70. I'm sure what I described wouldn't work for everyone, but for me it's perfect.

Re: Can You Put a Price on a Quality RPG? Yes, and It's Rising All the Time

tangyzesty

Speaking only for myself, my issue isn't the cost as much as the length of time it takes for games to be made now. I'd gladly pay $100 a pop if I could get a new Elder Scrolls or Fallout game without a DECADE passing between mainline entries. I understand quality takes time, but having to wait that long for mainline entries in well-established and commercially successful game franchises is absurd. So I would gladly pay more for games if it meant that the development times would decrease.

Re: American Senators Continue to Target Sony Over PS5, PS4 Timed Exclusives

tangyzesty

I hope the acquisition falls through, if for no other reason than the fact that the only way Microsoft can have quality exclusives is by whipping their johnson out on the table and buying up developers, and I think that's absolutely pathetic. If you can't stand the heat, get the hell out the kitchen, but M$ just says "we'll buy a bigger kitchen."

Re: Kingdom Come: Deliverance Dev Warhorse Studios Mustering Creative Host for New Project

tangyzesty

Just my opinion, but I thought KC:D was a total flop. It ended up becoming one of those games I tried forcing myself to play because I regrettably paid full price for it, and honestly I found nothing redeeming about it. It was a technical mess, and I can't think of one aspect of the game I enjoyed, it was no fun at all. So much so that I'm clearly still salty about it 5 years later lol.

Re: Microsoft Thinks It Hasn't 'Pulled Any Games' from PS5, PS4

tangyzesty

Business is business, healthy competition blah blah blah, I mean I get it, capitalism at it's finest. What separates Sony and MS are that Sony develops exclusive titles in-house, and for at least 2 generations now they are some of the most successful critically and commercially of the era. Meanwhile, MS has to buy existing developers/publishers and go that route because they don't have the talent to do it the way Sony is doing it. It just seems kind of lame and pathetic, like if you can't compete just go home.
