Oh whatever Xbox, I still remember the 360 days when it felt like EVERYTHING had timed exclusivity deals or just got everything first (GTA DLC, TES IV etc) so I don't want to hear any revisionist history about how Sony is slimy blah blah blah.
I'm actually a fan of the cartoony, colorful art style usually (KoA: Reckoning, WoW, stuff like that) but not for a freaking Dragon Age game.
Also, for what it's worth, it's been so long since Inquisition that I didn't even remember who Harding was, I had to Google her. And I've got platinum trophies on all 3 Dragon Age games.
I had been excited about this game for the better part of a decade, but after the trailer I'm out. I despise the art style, it's like WoW but more cartoony, not to mention the whole thing with the title change KIND OF feels like a bait & switch if I'm being honest. I'll pick this up when it's on sale for $19.99 six-to-twelve months after release.
@CutchuSlow as far as I know Xbox has most if not all the same mods that are available on PC (assuming they have functionality on an Xbox of course) but Sony's limits are pretty strict, in both games you cannot use outside assets, so anything you use in the mod on PS4 or PS5 has to be stuff that's already included in the game, you can't add anything.
@NoCode23 yeah I had Game Genie for NES and SNES, but those are cheats, not mods (at least nobody used the term mods back then). Can't speak to PS1 and PS2 era cause I wasn't gaming at those times.
@CutchuSlow Skyrim and Fallout 4 simply have "mods" sections on the main menu, and then from there you can browse mods and activate them and such. It takes care of the load order automatically.
@zhoont the only other games with mods on console (that I know of anyway) are Fallout 4 and Skyrim, and using mods disabled trophies in both of those instances, so unless we hear otherwise probably best to assume this will be the case with BG3 as well.
@MrHabushi You absolutely hit the nail on the head. The Series S was a desperation move born out of the knowledge that the Series X could never hold it's own against the PS5, so they needed a cheaper, entry-level model if you will, to entice people who don't know any better.
I would argue the first game limited the amount of fun one could have on an Xbox. Hopefully this time they tweak the formula a little bit so the game feels like something other than a chore or a punishment.
It depends on how many games you play and how often you play. Personally, I play a lot, so most of the quality games that arrive on PS Plus Extra or Premium I played months (or years) prior. What is left is mostly AA/Indie stuff that doesn't appeal to me at all, no matter the quantity. It's like a buffet, but none of the food I really like.
I'll say it again...imagine if Bethesda had been ready with a new, single-player Fallout 5 to coincide with the TV show. I mean, Fallout 4 is damn near a 10 year old game and is burning up the charts (doing better than the more recent 76, hmm...) but no, they were busy with...Starfield.
Just imagine if Bethesda had been working on Fallout 5 and had it ready for release to coincide with the TV show...most likely would have been console exclusive and could have completely changed the current landscape (yes I'm implying it might have helped save Xbox) but instead Bethesda were hard at work on Starfield, a mediocre turd nobody really wanted (in comparison to TES or Fallout anyway.)
They didn't really have an option, backing out of what they previously promised would result in even worse PR than they've been dealing with regarding studio closures. Their GP model was never sustainable and they did this to themselves 100%
Not even taking into account that it doesn't fit the vibe of the game AT ALL, that subheading is really off-putting. Leaving it blank would have been the better option.
I really enjoyed Odyssey, I hope they're able to recapture what made that game great without the bloat and excess of Valhalla. I'm not saying Valhalla is a bad game at all, but holy hell does it feel like a chore after a while...great games should leave you wanting more, not saying "I don't ever want to touch this again" when you're done playing it.
@TruestoryYep PC gaming will never be "as easy as gaming on console" and saying so is misleading. Regardless of how streamlined PC gaming becomes, it will never be as easy as buying a box, plugging it in, signing into your account, and GO
Before we start crying all the wolves, I've been playing for over 2 hours since downloading the patch and performance is definitely better and more consistent.
@NEStalgia you're absolutely right, if indeed Microsoft/Xbox gets out of the console biz, it won't be overnight. I meant it more from a standpoint of is it a financially wise decision to spend resources porting to a platform with a much smaller user base, where potentially (likely?) the sales might not even justify you bothering to do so in the first place.
How many people actually use Game Trials? The (what felt like) years I was subbed to Premium I never used any of them, something about the specified time limit I find off putting. If they just said "demo" I wouldn't care but I see "2 hours" and I think why bother lol
@edgar14 I'm thinking they're about to announce the "Horizon Zero Dawn Actually Complete PS5 Mega Edition" so naturally they'll pull the PS4 version to boost sales/engagement with the inevitable "new version."
I think it's a good strategy. PC gaming and PlayStation, in my opinion, aren't really head-to-head competitors. There's no sound argument for keeping their games off the PC platform, especially if they're released 6-12 months later than their PS5 counterparts. Everybody wins.
@themightyant Same here, I bought Hi-Fi Rush on PS5 after trying it on GP, and truthfully had I not been able to test it out, I doubt I would have bought it, despite the glowing reviews.
Why exactly does Arrowhead not deserve to bear the brunt of this? Wasn't it their failure to notify the player base from the jump about the PSN requirement that caused this whole mess in the first place?
Never underestimate the power of petulant gamers with nothing better to do than wield the power of their parents' internet connection to wreak havoc upon the world of gaming reviews.
Yeah, I think the reaction was embarrassing and pathetic.
One of the better months I've seen in the last year or so. FIFA (or whatever the hell they call it now) is always good for some casual fun, and Tunic was an absolute gem and worth playing at full price, let alone for free.

Re: Elden Ring's Massive Shadow of the Erdtree DLC Doesn't Have Any Trophies on PS5, PS4
@yazzika trophies are toxic now? These modern buzz words need to be dialed back man, they've lost all meaning
Re: Elden Ring's Massive Shadow of the Erdtree DLC Doesn't Have Any Trophies on PS5, PS4
Bottom line is it was their choice, and anybody surprised hasn't been paying attention. This is on brand for them.

Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Essential Games for June 2024?
I can't remember the last month I even downloaded one of the included games, let alone played one. It's easily been half a year at least.
Re: PS5's Anime Waifu Dress-Up Game Headed by Zelda: Breath of the Wild Designer

@Lup I platinumed both, Odyssey I did 100% but Valhalla I never wanted to see again after getting the plat, it just felt way too bloated for me.

I won't lie I thought Starfield was a stinker the few times I tried to play it on Xbox, but maybe if it comes to PS5 I'll give it another chance.

Re: Next Week's Huge PS Plus Purge Now Extended to 35 PS5, PS4 Games
Back in September, I downgraded from Premium to Essential. In the 8 months since, here's the stats:
Number of games on Extra or Premium that I wanted to play and hadn't already = 0
Number of times I regretted going down to Essential = 0
So yeah, it's Essential for me from here on out.

Re: Square Enix to 'Aggressively' Pursue Multiplatform Strategy from Now On
They're most likely talking about PC and Nintendo, since Xbox isn't going to be a platform after this gen anyway.

Re: This Year's Call of Duty May Not Be Included in Xbox Game Pass After All
We all know the answer is they are going to do both, raise GP monthly cost while also not making Call of Duty available at release.

@nomither6 Launching a year late at a price point at least $100 more than the 360 would be a good place to start.
