Re: Resident Evil 2 (PS5) - A Cheap and Fairly Cheerful Upgrade

@WallyWest Yeah, but this is one of the reasons I'm not a PC gamer — Pro models aside, consoles should give you a consistent performance standard that means you don't need to balance a load of spec plates in order to comfortably run the game, without worrying that you're sacrificing one aspect of the experience for another.

"You could instead opt to almost double that frame rate, but then the visuals aren't so hot. It's frustrating not knowing which one's best overall, creating circumstances where you know certain aspects would be better on the other side of the coin."

This has been one of my biggest bugbears this past generation — when a game gives you the choice for only one or the other, surely it should be up to the devs to find a balance that accommodates both framerate and fidelity? That'd be like making a pizza for someone and saying "yeah you can have cheese, OR tomato — you can't have both".

Re: Wonder Boy Collection Makes Your PS4 a Master System from 3rd June

What an absolute con — paywalling 17 extra games behind a heavily-limited physical edition (that will likely get bought up by scalpers and put on eBay for silly prices anyway), seems like the worst way to promote this collection. The digital edition feels like you're paying for an extended demo of the full package. You want to release a physical edition with loads of extra plastic tat? Go nuts, there's a market for that, but don't deny the actual games for people who only want to get the digital version.

Re: Video: Is Live Service Really the Way Forward for PlayStation?

Andee

On a personal level, not at all — I just don't really jive with online/multiplayer games, and very rarely play them, but I can understand that there's a huge portion of players that do. I also would much rather make the conscious choice to purchase my games individually rather than paying a flat monthly fee to rent them - I don't even have PS+ both these reasons.

As for Cloud gaming, I think it's a noble idea, and it can be good for demos/time trials, but as the default setting for playing games? Absolutely not - the technology is nowhere near capable yet, and even if it was, I think it's a fundamentally flawed notion and is trying to fix a problem that doesn't really exist.

Re: Sonic Origins Rating in Korea Suggests Retro Collection Coming Soon

@BlaizeV oh yeah they'd no doubt sell well enough, and I'm definitely of the mind that all games should be made easily available in some form. They did release Adventure (and CD) on PS3, which was my first proper exposure to both, but they've never seen the light of day on any modern platform since (unless you count Steam)

Re: Hades Guide: How to Play and Everything You Need to Know

Something else I would mention...

When choosing boons and abilities, be on the lookout for the little scroll icon - that means that they're part of the Fated List of Minor Prophecies that you don't have yet.

I was looking for something like this when I started ticking off the list of prophecies, but the game never made it obvious until I noticed it was already there

Re: Surprise PS5 Version of CrossCode Out Now

@Olmaz Exactly my thoughts when I read that too — hopefully games of +100gb will slowly become a thing of the past... although I imagine that'll be offset/balanced by the sheer size of games as they increase!

Re: Surprise! Cult 90s Platformer Flashback Is Getting a Sequel

Andee

Interesting! Flashback is one of my favourite games, and I'd be interested to see what they did with a modern take on it. Hopefully they keep the 2D, side-on mechanics, like with the new Abe's games, I don't want a generic Third Person shooter, with a Conrad Hart skin slapped over the top.
