I'm curious how far this game will go in the "censored" territory. My guess is that there is a lot of noise to create a hype, but at the end there will be nothing more than the camera locked on the unrealistic jelly muscles of the protagonist.
@amatmulisha New Vegas is the closest to the original spirit of the classic games. The 4 is far from that, hollowed from the strong RPG system that makes the player to face the consequences of their choices, without a real good or bad way to view things.
@TotallyNew2This I understand that some are not happy that the TV show will bring people to Fallout 4, which is not the real Fallout experience because it diverted too much from the original ones. It's like kids today discovering Star Wars with the Disney TV series, they are missing what made Star Wars a big thing in the 70ies and how it changed the culture of a whole civilization
Again a major patch that is significantly changing the game. When does Baldur's Gate 3 development will be complete? At that pace, they should have competed for GOTY 2024, because the last year version no longer exists...
@Matroska I went on a trip in North California/South Oregon, and I made a detour through Klamath, Reno, Redding. Damn they are such beaten-up areas that you don't see the difference between Fallout and the reality!
@NEStalgia Honestly Fallout Tactics was a good game in terms of turned-based strategy battles, but yeah it has nothing in common with Fallout expect the graphics, super mutants and the monsters with big claws (forgot the name). It's probably closer to Jagged Alliance than Fallout!
@NEStalgia That's true indeed. Back in 1997, Fallout was a hardcore gamer thing, "a game for gamers by gamers". The fact that here so many people never played the first 2 is indicative how niche these games were. Now just thinking it is owned by Microsoft and Amazon is producing a TV show on it .. It's like an original punk band going to MTV. The soul is sold and lost, whatever the quality of the new content.
New Vegas a black sheep? It's the best game, the closest to the spirit of the original Fallout, with all the modern bells and whistles. Bethesda is the black sheep. Fallout IP is like Star Wars. It's dead, sold to a corporate entertainment company. They can generate all the content they want, it's a dull shell.
I don't understand how the gaming industry is structured. Why studios are hiring and firing to adapt to the market evolution? In the aeronautics for example, you have the big companies like Boeing and Airbus, and you have a constellation of contractors that collaborate on different projects. If one is ended, there are plenty others and they can switch gears and allocate workforce accordingly. If you layoff the people who know how to make planes, good luck to find new ones in the low-cost category.
In the US it is illegal to layoff and then rehire on the same position, at least during a couple of months or years. But I'm sure there is a way to bypass legislation.
@Chupa_loyzer Exactly. Fallout 3 or 4 have nothing in common with the real Fallout experience. It's now a dead IP and I don't see how we could come back to such immoral games in this era of consciousness politically correct. Like, releasing a game where you have the opportunity to join a slavery guild or prostitute your partner? It would be banned right away, if ever published?
@NEStalgia I totally agree, ray tracing is just a gimmick, for me it doesn't even look good compared to a well crafted scene. We need developers who know how to build a graphics engine, how to squeeze ms each frame. Right now it's clear that this kind of knowledge has left most of studios.
Fallout is all about the atmosphere and the very dark and cynical humor surrounding it. I would definitely recommend to play Fallout 2 and New Vegas, try Fallout 1 if you really liked the 2, and to discard the rest that has just Fallout in the name but nothing in the core. Fallout 1 and 2 were praised for the liberty they allowed to do immoral and borderline things, like being a prostitute or engage in a slavery guild, being a drug dealer/addict, try to enter and control a sect, etc... All of these elements were missing in the 3 and 4, explaining why these games got so much hate for their mainstream aspects.
Is it a good game? I always wanted to play it, but each time I'm reading reviews, it sounds like a dull Bethesda RPG like Skyrim or Starfield, very far from the masterpiece that Fallout 2 was. Even very cheap I'm not sure I want to spend hours on this, my backlog is already so huge.
For sure I will buy it, but when it will be at an affordable price. Publishers should realize that $70 is far overpriced, they would sell far more and probably reach their objectives if it was like $45 at release and steady $30 6 months after.
I think Final Fantasy is mostly popular for the generation of gamers that grew up in the 90 ies. I'm not sure that kids today have really the patience for that kind of game. And I don't think the first category is the one spending the most of money in gaming. 2 millions is still good for a product based on nostalgia.
@God_of_War_ Actually one could say that From Software games retain their value. They are rarely on sale and never drop to very low price. Sekiro at $30 is the normal price since a lot of time. And it's worth it, assuming you have the patience for very challenging boss fights.
If game developers want more money, just release a game that will be successful. It's like the movie industry. You cannot charge thousands of dollars a seat ticket in the hopes of recovering money lost on producing a bad movie. Also game developers enter in the category of artists, they should get royalties from sales. It will force everybody to produce the best product as possible. Right now developers just want a lot of money while still producing mediocre quality product. It's like these big corporate industries where people get high pay check at doing nothing, and the whole system is so out of control that nobody notice...
You can raise your prices whatever you want, at some point you will see a diminishing return. This is fundamental in economy and it seems that people in the gaming industry are not really aware of such principles. Or maybe that's why we see most of the games -50% off just a couple of weeks after release...
I find hilarious that everybody has an opinion on women's representation without even knowing what is the Korean society. You all know that there is a social pressure for girls to do surgery and change their faces to match all the dolls models that you see in K-pop, right? This is a matter of showing your social class.
Interesting to hear the feedback of actual gamers who played the game. As expected, a very different experience from reviews in paid media. But the game sold well, mission accomplished, right?
It's no longer the late 90ies where you had to buy and install a new memory chip to play the last game. Now the hardware is democratized and has demonstrated its capabilities, so a game running less than 60fps just show the laziness of its developers, and it's a red flag on the quality of the product.
SMTV is one of my favorite game and I highly recommend it, but I can understand that it doesn't please everybody. It's difficult as a Soul game and convey a very weird and disturbing atmosphere, it's not a lay back JRPG like Persona with a funky music and teenagers discussing their feelings around Yakisoba noodles.
I remember trying System Shock when I was a kid, I got scared by this game and quit in less than one hour. I might restart it 30 years later, I heard it's a masterpiece
Maybe all the hate on social media is originally ignited by paid journalists who are giving biased reviews with very high score to mediocre games, while masterpiece are tanked. At some point people feel betrayed and cheated. What is important to understand is the crowd movement to bring back the cursor to something realistic. It's pretty much like when people are sanctioning politicians during elections.
I don't consider the past few years as a success for PlayStation and gaming in general. It would be good to remember him why he has been politely asked to retire, aka, fired.
@Rhaoulos Ah! Thank you for finally bringing the real problem with Stellar Blade: it shows up how rotten is the Korean oligarchical society, with the social pressure for girls to be sex dolls and submissive to men, who are fighting to be the alpha male that will make it in one of the conglomerate companies that are driving the country. I am not supporting this conception of humanity, sorry to sounds woke.
Is that a sign of the times of what the gaming industry has become? They release a broken game with a technical quality we haven't seen in decades, and they are thinking about a DLC to make money. It's surreal, the priority should be fixing the game for people who bought it !
Australia is not really a reference in terms of rating. For example they rated Regular Show the movie PG, not recommended for under 12 years old, and one of the reason is that Skips the Yeti can scare kids. He is the most friendly and lovable character of the show...
Wait, 120 comments and nothing about the outfits or the body of the main character? I will happily try the demo, but from the video posted I still find that the world looks bland and generic. I don't know, in Nier or Elden Ring, there is a strong artistic choice that makes you feel that you are evolving in very special places. From what I see in the videos, I just have this feeling of deja vu.
Ok all the items listed in micro transactions are available in the game, but at that cost? If you have to farm 2 weeks to get 1 item, this is still f2p tactics that should not be in a single player $70 game.
@TruestoryYep To be fair, Baldur's Gate 3 also released with poor performance and in an unfinished state. The chapter 3 was unplayable according to gamers review at that time. It won GOTY anyway...
It remembers me the South Park episode about BP and the massive pollution from their oil rigs. "Oh, we just want to say ... sorry" with the CEO in a green forest and the birds chipping all around....
I will unlock my willing to play this game behind a micro transaction that Capcom will pay. Let's play the same game, it's a question of respect, right?
Right now I am rating Dragon's Dogma 2 a 1/10. But Capcom can pay me a micro transaction so that my rating go up to 6/10. Another micro transaction will raise the rating to 8/10. At that point, I think we will be even in terms of respect, right?
So like many open world game you have to travel everywhere, but fast travel is locked behind a paywall and if you don't want to pay, it's going to take real life months to do it by foot. This is evil.
@Frmknst Thanks for your feedback. By two times I tried to say here that I will wait for gamers review but got moderated each time. I'm really afraid that despite claiming to be original, this game falls in the same problems as all open world games 😞
@Uromastryx Thanks for the feedback. This review is tanking the game but from what I see on other media, it's a fine game. Probably not GOTY level, but something well done.
@Terra_Custodes Yeah you are right, GoT or HFW are 6/10 for me. If ROTR has an original plot and fantastic combat, it's still better than the aforementioned games...
