@shogunrok I feel the exact same way about this release. A movie, a short-form anime series, two different demos. Everything that they've shown off is lacking in some form.
I'm mostly interested to see how this springboards off of Kingsglaive.
I'm still on the fence regarding all these new consoles. Part of me is waiting for Nintendo to show their cards, the other can't decide whether a PS4Slim or OneS are worth picking up beyond improved power consumption.
I think it should have a UHD blu-ray player, mainly because this is a Sony system and they've already positioned it as a media player.
That doesnt mean the system is a no-go just because it lacks a UHD player though. I'll likely be picking one up if I got the cash and a good trade-in deal around release.
That'd be a great deal if there werent 5 game trades involved.
The problem with a trade-in deal for NA is having to do it now for the best price. That'd leave me without PS4 (or PSVue) for about 2 months and that is too damn long
February is going to be gaming bliss on ps4. This is what I needed to see, everything else for the game looked fun but deep RPG elements are what I craaaave.
I love what they did with the Share button and Quick Menu, best thing about this update. Folders are great but they could use pinning and the ability to get rid of useless apps.
Oh, it's just that video from the PSMeeting again. Most gamers I talk with saw and grasped this idea just fine, it's that the upgrade is so minuscule and comes with a ginormous asterisk, that's the problem.
Paragon or other arena-based games don't have a ton going on in them. Old games from the start of PS4 being upgraded is nice, so long as it's free...but again, old games. It makes sense to show For Honor, but it's still in development so there isnt much they can boast about.
An upgrade in frames per second, faster load times, allowing mods....these are the things I'd like to see Sony push. Not a small change in foliage that they couldnt be bothered to show side-by-side....in a time when someone with iMovie can make comparison videos with far less resources.
@ekreig They didnt charge for patches, WiiU VC games had added functionality with save states and miiverse integration. By that logic, Sony charging $15 on PS4 for their old PS2 games is the same thing but much more expensive.
Gamers need to understand the nature of news and stop attacking sites for clickbait while being the ones doing the clicking. Lots of these things are developing stories that change over time, it's how life works. Human error is a thing that exists.
@AFCC There are so many asterisks on Gamestop's site for this thing, it's a mine field of what will work with what specific TV and at what upscaled resolution.
*Look for the PS4 Pro Enhanced' icon on software packaging. PS4 Pro Enhanced' features vary by game. Select titles may have enhanced visuals, frame rate, HDR 10 support, or increases in resolution.
Aw, I thought they meant I can plug it into any USB connection and play without having to worry about draining battery. I have no interest in getting a USB cable long enough to connect to where my PS4 is...nevermind.
This was the only thing I was happy to hear about after PSMeeting lol...not no more.
As for input lag, I've only noticed it on a few games on PS4 and it was so minuscule that I wouldnt consider it much of a drawback. Don't play fighting games other than SSB and that has performed perfectly fine for me.
As for the PS4Pro, they hit all the right price points and that's what matters. If you can trade in a PS4 and get a PS4Pro for $275- $300, that could be a good deal.
...but will the support be there. Because what was shown was vague about needing an HDR-enabled 4KTV to get the full experience and the game demos showed little-to-no difference in quality.
Now that they have all these streaming services, Sony really needs to overhaul their network considerably....and not just for future PSNeo purchasers either.
When PSN is down, so is PSNow, PSVideo, and PSVue. Meaning someone could be paying upwards of $410 a year for services that have been down at peak hours for the past couple of weeks. Call up Microsoft, ask them how they run their servers....and copy that. Sony always does it with Nintendo, may as well jock something useful from MS.
@rjejr This happened on the 3rd of September lol. They explained how the game will become more linear in the 3rd act and revealed that FFXV takes place across a 10-year timeline. It's weird but a lot of gaming sites passed on this news to talk about....nothing.
Btw, actual military time uses no colon punctuation and is followed by a designated timezone (R, J, Z). We use the 24-hour clock ("your" clock, which is really from ancient Egypt anyway) for much more, like medical, navigation, and emergency services.
I have mixed feeling about it. On one hand, a lot of the old-school BF games shine through and I love that.
On the other hand, the balancing feels way off. Whether players get too much health or bullets do too little damage, almost all damage leaves people at 25% health at the first encounter.
Got sprayed by bullets at about 20 feet away from support infantry? 25% Got shot once by a handgun at the same distance? 25% Got sniped clearly in the head from behind cover because reasons? 25%
An enemy shot a tank shell anywhere near your vicinity? Your dead and so is anyone else in a 20 foot radius. All my best games have been in tanks, against folks who know how to use assault's anti-tank grenades....that might need some fixing.
This game really caught me by surprise. As someone who dabbled in Disney Infinity3.0 and was disappointed, I never even looked at Skylanders as an alternative. Imaginators actually looks like an entertaining top-down brawler and Crash looks cool as hell here.
So yeah, I'm picking up a friggin' Skylanders game this year. Good stuff
5 months from release, a demo, a couple of trailers and we still don't know if this will essentially be Outlast/Silent Hills or if it'll carry any Resident Evil staples other than healing herbs. Very weird way to market this game, but hopefully it delivers.
Ridiculous that a lot of known reviewers are getting attacked for dissenting opinions. I completely agree with you...would rather play Firewatch or The Long Dark.
Well that's great news, seems XBO gets a nice sales bump around this time. Competition is always good, Sony needs to bring the heat with PS4Neo next month.
So by day1 we find that multiplayer (which Sean Murray has been on video saying was possible) is actually not possible because now this isnt a game with that intention.
And we find that by day1 two players already interacted with the same planet, which Hello Games has said was near impossible because of how "huge" the universe is.
Just for the sake of comparison, it took longer for people to play through the Silent Hills and Resident Evil 7 demos......
It would be great if Sony and Microsoft decided to implement crossplay moving forward. Helps the gamers and the developers, seeing as we'll get to play with more friends and they'll have bigger pools of online players for their games.
No, they shouldnt drop PS+ support for those systems until they're actually done releasing things on those systems.
Why in the hell would you hamstring yourself from getting more free games? It isnt going to provide a boon of "quality content" for PS4 all of a sudden.
The actual poll question should read "Do you want Sony to do less things and get paid for it....or do you want them to support the systems they still sell?"
They're already known for dropping support, let's not push them to drop even more.
Yeesh, this is the least realistic way to introduce PSVR. I get the feeling Sony is sweeping all the problems under the rug with this video. It has to be shown in a normal room, actually being played by gamers wearing the headset. Instead we get a bunch of green screen CG BS that represents absolutely nothing.
I'm guessing it's sold out because they're releasing it in small waves, seeing as the PSVR section in any of the BestBuys around me are already collecting dust.

Re: First Impressions: PS4 Pro Represents a Sizeable Step Forward
Until Sony or Digital Foundry show me a full side-by-side comparison video, I'm not convinced PS4Pro is worthwhile.
Personally, it's too small of an upgrade in all the wrong areas and just comes across as this is what the PS4 originally should've launched as.
Re: The Division Is Still the Best Selling Game of 2016, Ubisoft Reminds Us
Would be nice to see how many units they've sold through. I didnt even notice it did well, dont know anyone who plays it.
Re: Japanese Sales Charts: PS4 Numbers Skyrocket Thanks to Slim Release and Persona 5
@ShogunRok Ah, that's good to know. Thanks!
Re: Japanese Sales Charts: PS4 Numbers Skyrocket Thanks to Slim Release and Persona 5
Nice! Persona5 is killing it.
So I guess PS4Slim and the regular PS4 will have their sales lumped together.
Re: Hardware Review: PS4 Slim - Size Matters
I'm still on the fence regarding all these new consoles. Part of me is waiting for Nintendo to show their cards, the other can't decide whether a PS4Slim or OneS are worth picking up beyond improved power consumption.
Re: PS4 Pro Requires Very Little Investment from Developers
We'll see, this is all a bunch of hot air right now. It could take two people...but twice the work hours.
Re: 'No Plans' For The Witcher 3 PS4 Pro Patch, Says Developer
That's completely understandable. No point in having to divert resources just because Sony wanted to have a mid-gen upgrade.
Re: Poll: Should the PS4 Pro Have a UHD Blu-ray Player?
I think it should have a UHD blu-ray player, mainly because this is a Sony system and they've already positioned it as a media player.

Re: TGS 2016: Revisit Resident Evil 7's Free PS4 Demo Now
I wonder if they finally added the whole Resident Evil part or if it's still Outlast with green herbs.
Re: Job Losses at London Studio as PlayStation VR Worlds Dev Is Completed
Yeah...VR is totally not too expensive to produce!
Re: Video: PS4 Firmware Update 4.00's Secret Neatest Feature
Cool, I'll be using this a lot while playing Overwatch. Love the recommendations idea too.
It was way long overdue, but this is an awesome firmware update.
Re: Guide: How to Create, Manage, and Organise Folders on PS4
I love what they did with the Share button and Quick Menu, best thing about this update. Folders are great but they could use pinning and the ability to get rid of useless apps.
Re: PS4 Pro Is a Bargain and Will Sell Very Well This Christmas, Analysts Agree
Time will tell. Personally, I think the two slim machines will sell better than the PS4Pro this holiday.

Re: Poll: Will You Be Buying a PS4 Pro?
I'll likely be picking up a PS4Slim this holiday, but only if it's still possible to upgrade the HDD like the original PS4.
As for PS4Pro, some company would have to give me a helluva good trade-in deal. But even then, the wattage consumption is really concerning.

Re: Feature: Everything You Need to Know About PS4 Pro
@get2sammyb The specs matter and Scorpio has much better specs with room for improvement since they arent shooting to release this year.
"a whopping 310 watts compared to the 140 or so watts of the current unit!"
Holy hell! That is ridiculous wattage. My bill would be really high in summer if I gamed on this thing regularly.
The best news for me is the DS4 running on straight USB power....that extra light pointing at your face sure seems annoying though.
Re: Talking Point: Did Sony's PlayStation Meeting 2016 Presser Deliver?
Meh.

Re: Poll: Are You Happy with September's PlayStation Plus Games?
It's a good month for those who havent picked up any of the games yet. Got all of these through different sales or GwG.
Lords of the Fallen was decent, I could definitely see folks getting into it.
Re: Live: Final Fantasy XV PAX Panel Promises Surprises and New Information
After watching Kingsglaive I've been getting more and more amped for FFXV. Bring on the neeewwwsss!
Re: PSN Down for Some as Web Rages Over Connection Issues
This is what the extra $10 a year gets us, more patented PSN outtages during high traffic hours.
XBL isnt pulling this junk every other week, Sony needs to sort their internet out....especially if we're paying more for no reason.
Re: PlayStation Plus' September Freebies Include Journey, Lords of the Fallen on PS4
Ehh. Journey is a nice treat for those who havent played it.
Once again, GwG outperforms PS+
Re: Only the First Half of Final Fantasy XV Is Open World, Apparently
Going from open-world to a much more linear path will be incredibly hard to pull off. The game and story can get really disjointed.
Along with the DLC news.....this game is sounding like a mess.

Yup, simple mistake. Made years ago....by Sean Murray...on video
All kidding aside, it makes sense.

haha, wow what story this is turning out to be.
Re: No Man's Sky Is Out on PS4, But It's Still Not Clear if You Can Meet Other Players
@dps5pt
Here's one reason for the confusion. We as gamers can only go by what the developers are willing to tell us about their product..
Exhibit A:

Youch, dips of 19fps. I'll check out the PC version once that releases

I doubt Sony will ever play ball though.
Re: Battleborn Flopped Incredibly Hard, But Take-Two Hasn't Lost Hope
All I'm reading is "this game did so bad that we have to resort to heavy microtransactions and DLC"
I never liked take-two much before, but with how they handled Battleborn, it's going to be nothing but bargain bin food for me.
Re: Review: Batman: The Telltale Series - Episode 1: Realm of Shadows (PS4)
Tried out crowdplay with a random broadcaster. It felt very brief and not much of note happened, too light for a first episode.
Crowdplay lagged but I still had fun seeing the broadcasters reactions to our answers though
Re: PS4's Interplanetary Sim No Man's Sky Won't Take Hundreds of Hours to Finish
It's a chore-simulator so I imagine there'll always be "things to do". 30 hours seems more than enough if it's story content though.

Re: Poll: Are You Happy with August's PlayStation Plus Games?
I was out of the loop. The PS4 offerings do suck, but Yakuza 5 makes up for it.
Re: Feature: Here's What You Do in No Man's Sky on PS4
I'm waiting for reviews on this one. It just doesnt look very fun for me once I get past going from one planet to another without loading.
Re: Ninja Theory's Really Innovating with Hellblade on PS4
A-mazing, I can't wait to play this game.
