Re: PSVR2 Review: Is It Worth It?

FuriousMachine

@thedevilsjester Sweet! Being able to turn off the obstacles means that I should be able to play this at home as well. That's excellent news, 'cause I really liked this game when I played it last.
Thanks for the update!

Re: PSVR2 Review: Is It Worth It?

FuriousMachine

@Critonic Thanks for clarifying, though I'm not sure I'm able to wrap my brain around the implications... it's always been satisfied with "higher res = better" so I automatically assumed my 4K UHD discs would look poorer on the 1080 than on the 4K display. Still, will try it to see which I prefer, but neither sounds ideal TBH, so I guess I'll have to wait 'till I move to a bigger apartment and get a bigger TV for a decent home cinema experience.
I do hope they'll patch in the option of getting the audio through external speakers as I've always found airbuds to be extremely uncomfortable.

Re: PSVR2 Review: Is It Worth It?

FuriousMachine

@Drawfull I see. Having played Beat Saber on the Quest at a friend's many a moon ago I remember vaguely having to duck and move side-to-side, so I was surprised to see someone claiming it could be played seated. Love the game, though, and I'll probably bring the headset when visiting friends with bigger living rooms than mine and will play it there
If there is an option to switch off the need to move and simply stand still, I might be able to play it at home as well

Re: PSVR2 Review: Is It Worth It?

FuriousMachine

@OrtadragoonX Re: playing seated: I'm in the same boat; cramped apartment and flailing about would be a serious health risk
I've googled "Can I play <game> seated" for the games I'm most interested in off the bat, and since many of these are PSVR2 versions of existing VR games the info has been fairly easy to come by so far. Moss 1 & 2, Wanderer, GT7, No Man's Sky and SW: Tales from the Galaxy's Edge all seems to work well seated, and some even claimed Beat Saber could be played seated.
So it all depends on the game, naturally. Horizon does not seem to lend itself to seated play, but there may be plenty others out there

Re: PSVR2 Review: Is It Worth It?

FuriousMachine

@get2sammyb Great review, looking forward to getting mine next week Like @Palleon I'm also curious about the movie watching experience. I was hoping it could double as a virtual home theatre, but with the low resolution of CinemaMode it seems my small 4K screen and 5.1 surround will remain the better choice.
Hopefully they'll patch in an improved movie watching experience later, but I guess it won't be their highest priority.
Can you use the various media apps like Plex, Netflix etc in CinemaMode?

Re: Sony Appears to Have Leaked Several Unannounced PSVR2 Games

FuriousMachine

Wanderer seems like a must-have for me! The rest I'm not too sure about. Checked my order status just now and it was "Reserved (in stock)" so I expect to have the headset in time for the software unlocks on the 22nd. Can't wait! (purchased GT7 yesterday, so that should be ready to go when the headset arrives)

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 463

FuriousMachine

My gaming weekend will pay homage to the big sporting event taking place this weekend: Rally Sweden! (the one that matters, anyway )
As such, WRC Generations will provide the occasional burnt rubber smell and if I need a break from all the rallying goodness going on I might swing around as Miles Morales for a bit

Re: Social Strategy Marvel's Midnight Suns Was a Critical Darling But Commercial Flop

FuriousMachine

I've been a die-hard Marvel-fan for about 40 years, my superpower is that I'm impervious to "superhero fatigue" and I even bought the Emil Blonsky that was Marvel's Avengers... but at the price they demanded for Midnight Suns gave even me pause, so I can only imagine what that price point did for the more casual fans.

That said, I love the game, warts and all. I'm with @Amnesiac, I love all the old, corny Marvel stuff

Re: Deliver Us Mars (PS5) - A Thrilling Sci-Fi Adventure to Save Humanity

FuriousMachine

I enjoyed Deliver Us the Moon quite a bit, even though it had a couple of "you have x amount of time to do y" sections, which I hate, but they didn't stress me out too much, so my overall impression of the game was good, when all was said and done.
The climbing mechanic here smells annoying, but I'm still going to give this one a go... maybe wait for a patch or two first, though

Re: Rhythm Game Drums Rock Crashes PSVR2 Launch Lineup

FuriousMachine

@JP80 Well, they aren't really gone, they're still supporting Rock Band 4/Rivals with new songs released regularly, but I don't think they're working on much else.
<sigh> I miss playing Rock Band on my ION Drum Rocker... unfortunately I bought it for Xbox 360, so the kit is currently not compatible with any current-gen system
This game might be fun, though, but hardly a proper substitute. Will give it a go, though

Re: Poll: Will You Pay the PSVR2 Launch Price?

FuriousMachine

It's pricey, but since quitting smoking almost three years ago I could put together that kind of money if needed. I think the tech is worth it but I'm not sure if the games are there for me to buy at launch.
I've been really looking forward to this, though, so I might buy it at or near launch simply due to the fact that I really, really want one

One question, though: The features ad that ran a while back boasted 3D audio, while now it seems the bundle comes with "stereo headphones". Is this just a case of "supports 3D audio* (3D headphones sold separately)", does anyone know?

Re: Is the Dream of Online Competitive Quidditch Over for Hogwarts Legacy on PS5, PS4?

FuriousMachine

I gotta say I'm beyond excited for this game, but I'm quite cold on quidditch, for some reason (I never found it particularly interesting in the books or movies either... no idea why, tbh) and I couldn't be less interested in any form of online multiplayer, so I'm happy this will be an sp-focused experience.
A separate online quidditch multiplayer focused game would doubtless be a better experience for the quidditch fans anyway, right?

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 (PS5) - Dark Future RPG Is Finally Ready to Rock

FuriousMachine

@ShogunRok This may seem like a weird question, but do you ever get to see the character you've created other than when you activate a mirror to change the appearance?
I've only sampled the prologue and was quite impressed with the character creator, only to be somewhat disappointed to see that all cutscenes seemed to be first-person and reflective surfaces seemed unreflective until you activated them to look at your character. Struck me as a wasted opportunity.

Re: Mobster XCOM Empire of Sin Makes It Count with Massive Content Drop

FuriousMachine

@FatallyYours117
Alright, I can work with that.
RNGs should never be completely random, they should be properly weighted by the other tactical and strategic mechanics, but I felt that was off (and at times even missing) in XCOM. Glad to hear I'm not alone and that Empire of Sin doesn't seem quite as random.
I'll easily buy into poorer RNG results early game as it makes sense that new recruits aren't super-effective from the get-go

Re: Mobster XCOM Empire of Sin Makes It Count with Massive Content Drop

FuriousMachine

@FatallyYours117
Thanks, I guess I've pretty much decided to give it a go at one point.
One thing that kind of ruined X-Com for me was that I felt I at times was too much at the mercy of the random number generator. It felt as though I would too often be brutally punished by bad RNG results and that good tactics and strategies did little to mitigate this.
So, as this seems to have a similar mechanic, do you feel it can be "too random" or would you say it feels fairly balanced?

Re: Rumour: Sony Bans In-Store PS5 Sales in Norway Due to Coronavirus Concerns

FuriousMachine

@thefourfoldroot No, it was a request from Sony to retailers not to sell PS5 in stores, with wording strongly suggesting that retailers who violate this will suffer from a worsened relationship with the manufacturer going forward (according to the original article, anyway).
Edit: Stores in Norway are open as normal and no COVID restrictions have been placed on retailers (only customers, who as of Thursday 12pm must wear masks when in stores in Oslo)

Re: Mass Effect Legendary Edition Gets Korean Age Rating

FuriousMachine

Announce or release on N7 day or STFU, EA
Seriously, though, I would prefer to get full confirmation that this is indeed real and not a continuing isolation triggered fever dream of mine.
As for release date? Take your time; I'd prefer to play it on PS5 and thanks to Sony thinking 20k units are more than enough for the entire Scandinavian region I won't be getting my pre-ordered console until some time in May/June (current estimate)

Re: Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered Has Release Date and Screenshots Leaked

FuriousMachine

I may confuse this with another NFS game (it's mildly challenging keeping all of these apart), but didn't this one have an insanely overeager rubberbanding AI? One of these that I played on the X360 was almost broken due to the rubberbanding... it was one that didn't have an open/connective world, but you selected races from a map only, and there were two ladders, cops and racers.
Was that this one?

Re: Poll: Would You Pay $70 for a Brand New PS5 Game?

FuriousMachine

Well, considering I paid $79,37 (£62.90/€70,24) for Ghost of Tsushima (digital deluxe, ed, though) just minutes ago, certainly.
New games in Norway have been around $70 for quite a while, so I'll happily pay that for a game at launch. However, it has become a rare occurrence for me to buy a game at launch/pre-order, as it's quite a steep price, and as a result I usually wait for sales

With the new price hike, I assume games will trend toward $80 at launch in Norway, with "special editions" going closer to $90. I'll pay that at launch if I think the game is worth it and I really, REALLY want to play it as soon as possible, but I expect waiting for sales will be even more common in the future

Re: Poll: What Was the Best PS4 Game of E3 2019?

FuriousMachine

Cyberpunk got a lot of vinegar, for some reason, but I'm still excited for it so that was an easy vote. Watch Dogs Legion intrigued me as well and the gameplay footage worked for me.
The Ghostwire trailer REALLY spoke to me, but absent any gameplay I really couldn't bring myself to vote for it.
Instead I went for FF7 Remake. Never played a FF game in my life, but that WILL change when FF7 Remake gets released
