@TheBuzz ??? Did you even read the article? They delayed the game in order to fix issues. The game was accidentally published in an unfinished state.
"They can't be arsed to take the time..."
"I expect more from indie developers"
This is some of the worst attitude to have towards indie developers. Please remember that indie devs are people and that making glitch-free and polished games is a monumental task.
@Gmork___ Nier has one of the best stories I've seen in a video game, and it completely takes advantage of video games as a medium to create one of the most thrilling and engaging experiences of this generation, in my opinion. If you ever get a chance to play it, do NOT stop playing after the first playthrough — there's way, way more to the story after "finishing" it the first time.
@Sinton Emm... I'm not sure what @vitalemrecords said was entirely correct.
The game has three PS4 Pro options: High, Lite, and Steady. High offers an 1800p image with a consistent 30fps but SEVERE frame-pacing issues, so it never actually feels 30fps imo. Lite offers an uncapped framerate at 1080p (usually hovering around 45fps; can rarely reach 60fps but usually never drops below 35). Steady offers a locked 30fps at 1080p with minimal frame-pacing issues.
Check out Digital Foundry's videos for a more in-depth analysis.
Great! Now I know I just have to wait a few years to get the game with all DLC expansions for $60 instead of buying the base game for $60 and all subsequent expansions individually.
Sigh. I'm just salty that I could have payed so much less for the exact same value.
I kinda like this change personally, since I do tend to miss a lot of notifications as I don't religiously check every tab. Having it all in one place makes my life a little easier.
@Dm9982 I really, REALLY don't want to sound preachy, but if those games really are becoming a problem for you, you might want to switch to PC gaming. Motion sickness while playing first person shooters are usually due to low FOV and frame rate and PC fixes both of those things. Just an FYI.
OT, I'm glad Bethesda put out Fallout 4 PS4 Pro support, but I'm a little worried that the higher resolution means it won't run as well as if it ran at 1080p on the Pro. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
I honestly think this patch is less for the players, and more so for the developers themselves for their own sake and/or satisfaction. At least, I know what if feels like to want to improve something I've created just for the sake of satisfying my own wants.
Either way, this will definitely suit someone such as myself who has already bought the game but have yet to even download it.
@wiiware A few things: Nintendo is very new to making open-world games. I wouldn't be surprised if the art style was chosen due to lack of competence. BotW is also a cross-gen game with the Wii U initially in mind during development. One game's graphics also can't define the console's graphical prowess, otherwise you'd be able to judge the PS4's power on 30fps Little Big Planet and Knack, or the awful Lichdome Battlemage and Homefront: The Revolution ports.
Not saying the Switch will be as powerful as PS4, but I wouldn't be surprised with Square could port FFXV given they could take away a few bells and whistles. Either way, I don't see a port happening, unfortunately.
@Bruinshockey78 Ehh... that's not a good reason to spoil things on the internet. I know a ton of people including myself who don't watch a movie until a year or more after it comes out for several reasons (in my case, usually it's because I forget to watch it and when I do remember, I'm always busy). For example I just watched Interstellar for the first time about 2 weeks ago and now it's one of my favorite movies of all time — probably would not have watched it if someone spoiled it to me in the comments section of an article completely unrelated to it.
I'm definitely going to buy this for my sister. I won't play it myself unless there's significant improvements in Arkham Asylum compared to the original release (and that includes 60 frames per second) as that it the only game in the series I haven't played yet, but can easily pick it up on PC for $5 during the next sale. It would've been nice if Origins was included as well, though. I actually kind of liked that game
My copy only recently arrived (that's what I get for living in Latin America I suppose) and I haven't had time to pick it up yet. I'll definitely start it sometime this upcoming weekend though. Can't wait
I'm actually currently playing the first Witcher game. I'm really enjoying it so far (just finished Chapter 1, though I hear that Chapter 2 and 3 are abysmal), but I agree — it's way too outdated to be released in today's industry. A complete remake would be necessary if they wanted to release it on PS4, and I doubt they would want to put the resources into that.
@Napples I absolutely agree that 32GB is way too small, but Nintendo's small amount of storage is more excusable than Sony's lack of external hard drive support, mainly because the Wii U doesn't install games to its hard drive like the PS4 and Xbox One do. As long as you buy physical games, you'd never run out of storage space (and if you only bought digital games, you'd get an external hard drive anyway even if the Wii U shipped with 500GB).
Eh, turning down the brightness of the LED in the back to "Dim" seems to have extended the battery of the PS4's enough for me to the point where it's no longer an annoyance.
I don't care if the game ends up being terrible (which I really doubt it will), the soundtrack alone is probably worth $60.
Ever since the TGS 2014 trailer I've been getting a pretty big Xenoblade vibe from this game, and that gameplay is no exception. I don't think I've ever been this excited for a game since the reveal of Skyward Sword. Can't wait.
@Boxmonkey Could you please put a spoiler warning next time you spoil the end of a game? I get that the game is pretty old but I only recently bought it during the Christmas sale and I've yet to finish it.
Wait, didn't they say that the Wii U wouldn't get Afterbirth because "It's not much more powerful than a Vita?"
Either they figured out how to cram Afterbirth into a lower-spec system (meaning that a Wii U version is now possible)... Or they lied. Either way, I smell an inconsistency ;^)
@Splat There's a free demo in case you're interested. I tried it, and I thought it was a ton of fun, so I bought it a few weeks later when it went on sale (even though I still haven't played it yet )
I've 15Mbs download speed (which for some I'm sure is still incredibly slow, but hey, I've lived with less than 2Mbs for most of my life, 15Mbs is practically a godsend) and it takes about a day or two to download 50 gigabytes of data. On PS4? A week, if I'm even remotely lucky. I've already tried changing DNS settings and attempted pretty much every solution I could find on the internet but nothing seems to speed up download times.
Hopefully the apparent increase of download speed is true. I'm gonna attempt to download something first thing tomorrow afternoon whenever I get the chance
Can't stand the Call of Duty series, although it's nice to see that they're making an effort to make the campaign utilize the PS4 and Xbox One hardware, instead of downgrading it in order for the PS3 and Xbox 360 to be able to actually run it.
Either way, I have no idea who would want to play BOIII on last-gen consoles. I remember playing BOII and Advanced Warefare just a little while ago in my friend's house on PS3, and it looked and felt terrible, and I imagine BOIII will be the same.
I think people are forgetting that Naughty Dog already pretty much confirmed that Ellie and Joel just live a regular life at Tommy's after the main game. Their story is over, and we hardly need backstory given that enough is already explained in the original.
I'm hoping for new characters entirely. They'll never be as good as Ellie and Joel to many people as a lot of us hate change, especially regarding loveable characters, but I don't see it any other way. And plus, it'd be difficult not to ruin the characters in a sequel, methinks.
Also, new characters = new setting. I'd love to play a game in TLOU's universe in the UK or Brazil (just imagine what Christ the Redeemer what look like after the apocalypse).
Shoot, now I'm actually suddenly interested in this game. I'm a big fan of Wintory's work. Still, I'm getting pretty sick of the AC series. I'll pick it up in a year when it's less than half the price.
@andrew20 Free to play isn't exactly my thing, plus I'm not too big into anime so I'd probably never get a Crunchyroll subscription. And besides, I think Tearaway Unfolded on PS4 can help with my lack of being able to play the original Tearaway.
@Matroska That's basically what I've been hearing about the system — a love letter to Anime fans / JRPGs fans but not so much to everyone else.
To be honest, one of the main reasons I've been thinking about getting a Vita was so that I can play MGS3 and Peacewalker (as I'm intrigued by the Phantom Pain but I don't have time to play the entire series, and according to many, MGS3 and Peacewalker are the only essentials before playing V) and Corpse Party. Other than that, Persona 4 and Killzone piqued my interest along with some ports of older games I never played (God of War collection, Sly cooper collection), but not much of anything else. Plus, the ridiculous prices for PS Vita sd cards really shy me away from purchasing one.
Quick question: are PS Vita physical games installed on the system and take up storage space like PS4 games are? I can't seem to find an answer online.
I'm still debating on whether or not I should get a Vita. I mean, I don't think it's a bad system at all, but I'm not entirely sure that its games appeal to me. Hmm...
This sucks. It really does. Especially since I boasted of how Silent Hills was gonna be one of the greatest horror games ever.
I'd get MGS V... but admittedly I haven't played a single MGS game yet (unlesss you count Ground Zeroes, which I wasn't the biggest fan of tbh, but that's likely due to the fact that I have had zero experience with Snake prior).
I still need to buy this game. It's $40 dollars on Steam at the moment, but I probably won't even have time to play it anyway with school starting in a week.
Wow. Looks exactly the same as it did on the Wii U. Which is kinda terrible, considering that now there's absolutely no reason to play it on any other console since the game is pretty mediocre at its core, only made any good due to how it implemented the GamePad really, really freaking well.
Although the 0:55 mark shows a shovel being used as a melee weapon. Wasn't the bat the only melee weapon in the Wii U version?
I might pick it up on PC if it's any decent, but something tells me it'll be terribly optimized. Can't wait to hear TotalBiscuit's thoughts on the port.
Oh well. It was only a dollar. At least I get to play it with decent controls now.
I already have Stealth Inc 2 for Wii U from Humble Bundle. Maybe I'll get Sound Shapes? I've never heard of it before.
Sony seriously needs to start pumping AAA games on PS Plus for PS4 again though. It's already been almost 2 years since the console debuted, and they already have enough games.
