Re: Randy Pitchford Teases Borderlands 4 After Tirade Over Flop Movie Adaptation

J2theEzzo

I'm a fan of Borderlands (1 and 2, to a lesser extent 3), but don't have any desire to watch the film. Shouldn't there be an option for that on the survey?

On another note- I can't help but feel that the film has kinda forgotten what the initial 'hook' was for Borderlands; the uncannily inventive quality and quantity of guns. Sure the film has a lot of shooting (so it looks), but wheres the fun guns, and loot by the bajillion? Where's the class abilities? Krieg should be setting himself on fire and running around like a maniac, throwing tnt covered buzzsaws. But does he?

No wonder it flopped. 😌

Re: Dead Rising's PS5 Remaster Will Strip Bonus Points for Erotic Photos

J2theEzzo

I think it's strange that people are offended by the very silly and campy idea of taking "erotic" pics of female zombies in a silly pastiche of 80s zombie horror. It's 'exploitative', yes- but so was a lot of zombie horror from the time, and I think it's fine to consider that the game is ironically doing the same thing. You get a "reward", as in points, but it isn't meant to make you feel good about it- it's silly at best, and a bit cringe otherwise.

But my god, you best leave in the sexy outfits in Stella Blade, so my character (based on a real actress/ model) can look super hot, while I perv on her bouncing ass as I slaughter monsters and have her covered in 'blood'. Oh, and a photo mode is a must have!

Why the outcry for one thing, but not the other?

@Monstermash40 I think a lot of peoppe would be glad to have the old tier back, where you didnt get games, but multiplayer online was free. I'm sure I'd be satisfied with that!

Re: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth PS5 Sales Still a Secret as Square Enix Reports Year-on-Year Decline

J2theEzzo

@Cloud39472 That's totally fair, and I think you've given a well reasoned response.

To be clear, I've always enjoyed FF, and I did really like Remake, for it's moment to moment gameplay and just about everything else. I thought it was overall really solid (and happily beat it twice!). I don't doubt I'll pick up Rebirth, but some of my gripes with the direction of the previous title just put me off from a day 1 purchase. That said, I'm just happily getting through my backlog, and didn't think I had the time to invest!

Re: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth PS5 Sales Still a Secret as Square Enix Reports Year-on-Year Decline

J2theEzzo

@PuppetMaster But it is the same story, no? That's my point. They've essentislly given us the same story, then just changed some key sequences by relating to multiversal shenanigans, at a time when I feel like the multiverse concept is so ubiquitous, it just feels tired, and not half-so clever. In that way, I feel like something more interesting/ less arbitrary would have been better, or else, yes; stick to the original.

The problem of a multiverse, and this is spoken of frequently, is that it takes away any real gravitas because, if something important happens, you can just spin a yarn about how it's a separate timeline, etc.

Regardless, it's all subjective, but I don't think it's fair to say that anyone who doesn't like the direction of Remake/ Rebirth isn't a true fan, or are simply being contentious.

Re: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth PS5 Sales Still a Secret as Square Enix Reports Year-on-Year Decline

J2theEzzo

@PuppetMaster Speaking for myself, it isn't about "time travel" as a storyline that's put me off, I would just say that the excess story baggage has been largely unnecessary, and for me (as well as for others, I'm sure), it falls flat, rather than hits the mark, so to speak. I understand it's a remake, and so they want to make it feel fresher, but I think that could have been done in a better way.

So you might disagree, as do others, and that's fine- but I think if there's a vocal crowd who are all making the same complaint, then that's a valid complaint, and no less right than the fans who say they love the new changes. Some of whom seem a bit 'salty', and maybe they would have equally loved the game without the new direction, because they're such fans.

The thing is, most remakes (in film, at least) will offer a new take on the story- very few will retread the same story but change key moments, and backlash is the reason why. I don't see why that's a difficult or different concept to grasp with Rebirth/ Remake.

Re: Poll: Are You Sick of Soulslike Games?

J2theEzzo

I like the offerings of FromSoft. And I enjoyed Team Ninja's efforts (Niohs 1 and 2), and while there have been a few good efforts from smaller companies, like Salt and Sanctuary, or The Surge that were enjoyably different, I do feel like the best ones are by From, and the rest generally pale in comparison. That said, Star Wars worked well, and I don't see why the formula can't be used successfully, but there needs to be more originality and less aping what's come before.

Re: Training Modes, No Battle Pass, More Details Confirmed for Concord in Post-Beta Q&A

J2theEzzo

Played it for several hours, and I felt the characters were totally bland, despite a high quality of presentation. The humour fell flat, feeling like a poor man's Guardians (as many have said), without giving any reason to care about any character. I'm not that fussed about cosmetics, and the few I unlocked seemed totally boring and pointless (a keychain for a gun that you never even see?). After so many hours of playing the same game type, it just got incredibly boring, and certain characters seemed entirely useless compared to others. If the game was free, I wouldn't want to play it; for £40, or thereabouts, I wouldn't even look at it.

Re: Genshin Impact Fan Frustration Boils Over As Backlash Goes Viral

J2theEzzo

@themightyant In all honesty, I don't even care about the game, or any gacha style game for that matter. I'm just saying, the point about the name change is moot, because the letters vary across languages. That said, I think it's fair to complain that a game that riffs off cultures doesnt even attempt to do them justice, because otherwise, they may as well have created an original character with an original name.

Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Essential Games for July 2024?

J2theEzzo

@Artois2 I don't take to mean it as in "these games are crap", but by crap selection, thinking that if only every 1/3 people decide to download a game (because they either have the others, or aren't interested, regardless), then that's pretty crap? If I decide to download 2 games out of 3, or people on average decide to download and play 2/3, then that's pretty good, and if by some wonder all 3 games are so good that literally everyone downloads them, and wants to play them, that's a miracle.

I feel like probably for every person downloading a game, maybe there's 1 you like or want to play. (Personally 0 for me, but irrelevant) So 1/3 isn't really that good?

Re: Poll: Can a Game's Brutal Difficultly Put You Off Playing It?

J2theEzzo

@RoomWithaMoose Yeah, I see that. Just remarking that lv 5 was a very "early game" level to reach Margit at. So, in terms of ER, I'd think those hurdles exist slightly less, because there's always an alternative route, or option of levelling up. Admittedly, not so much in other Souls titles, where there's generally some linearity.

Re: Poll: Can a Game's Brutal Difficultly Put You Off Playing It?

J2theEzzo

I'm the type to intentionally choose "hard" mode when I play a game, because I enjoy having to utilise every system and scrap of power available to me. I don't think it's possible to reach a 'god tier' level of gaming without some challenge, and I'm all about relishing in those moments of balletic anarchy, when somehow everything just clicks.

Re: Broken, Battered Elden Ring Players Review Bomb Shadow of the Erdtree for Being Too Hard

J2theEzzo

@kailun I'd argue that playing fighting games or fps' online against other players requires much more skill, and I think probably still appeals to a large base of casual players, which is why people like single player content included. Admittedly, Soulslikes have such an appeal for the difficulty, and I guess there's a balance between earlier games having more limited ai (so easier) but less options (so harder), whereas ER goes the other way, and offers a lot of choice, but balances that with difficult combat/ ai.

Re: Broken, Battered Elden Ring Players Review Bomb Shadow of the Erdtree for Being Too Hard

J2theEzzo

@kailun I don't think it takes hours to get into a rhythm with ER, to be honest. There are a lot of weapons, which offers a pretty diverse moveset, so maybe finding your ideal weapon takes some time, but then you have summons and a "horse" to help with most of the combat, and even most enemies can be run away from, with the exception of major bosses (though you risk losing out on levels and secrets this way). It really comes down to knowing when to dodge and not being baited into dodging too early. It's a tug of war; you dodge once/ twice/ thrice and hit. Dodge and hit. If you're lucky (or skilled) you hit first and dodge less, but it isn't beyond the scope of most people's ability, I believe.

Re: Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree Is the Highest-Rated DLC of All Time

J2theEzzo

@Odium I don't personally feel that Mohg was so inaccessible, to be honest. I found myself finding a lot of the bosses naturally, just from a desire to fully explore the map. The fight itself can be tricky, but there's an item that let's you get 2 free stuns, effectively melting half the health before the fight's even started. With summons etc. I don't think it's such a challenge. To add, you can pretty much run past every other enemy on your way, if you so choose.

Re: Yet More Leaked Wolverine PS5 Gameplay Has Appeared Online

J2theEzzo

@Sequel In the very first xmen film, I'm sure he says to Rogue that it hurts every time he extends/ retracts his claws (as one would imagine it might). Would be cool to see this implemented in-game somehow, like losing health for using claws, but getting a buff to your damage output.
