Re: MultiVersus Now Totally Offline, Full Game Will Return in 2024

J2theEzzo

Needed unrestricted local play/ local and online (what's a fighting game that doesn't let you play locally with friends?); way more characters, stages and customisation options, that aren't all paid for battle-pass nonsense, and a much more steady and consistent content update, to keep it fresh.

The game was fun, when it worked, but they failed to deliver on many promises, (the 'story'/ arcade mode was terrible) and it ultimately stagnated under a super grindy service model, that felt incredibly unrewarding.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Final Fantasy 16?

J2theEzzo

@Aeula This is kinda what I was ferling a while back, that GoW has tried to go a more FF route, (mild rpg mechanics, multiple characters on a journey) while FF16 appears to be going full, single person action machine, like the old GoW games.

Re: Preview: It's Virtually Impossible for Armored Core 6 to Fail

J2theEzzo

Armoured Core games were always tricky! Always about knowing your mech, inside and out; how you built it; what it's weapons are, and what your strengths/ weaknesses are, prior to going on any mission. You build your mech constantly, always tweaking and improving it to be more energy efficient/ quicker/ hit harder. Or flip it entirely and make a heavy tank that can barely fly, but has copious guns and rockets and can withstand bigger hit.
The freedom in approach has always been there- not just since Elden Ring.

And as far as I'm aware, I don't think there's fall damage from falling a great height? At least, I don't believe that was ever an issue in past games!

As someone who's been in it since AC2, I am all in for this!

Re: Sony's Portable PS5 Streaming Handheld Launches Later This Year

J2theEzzo

I like the idea, but if it's essentially useless outside of the home, don't see why you wouldn't just go for the backbone device and play via remote play on your phone (assuming it's got a good enough screen!). That at least allows for streaming?
I don't stream games anyway, so I would theoretically be the ideal candidate for such a device, but even I wouldn't have that much use for it!

Re: Gory Diablo 4 Story Trailer Will Have You Hyped as Hell

J2theEzzo

@ORO_ERICIUS I beseech you to play Divinity 2! It's not an actiony rpg or hack and slash like Diablo, however, but a crpg )or tactical rpg, if you like), but the gane is incredible! Fantastic writing, huge amount of flexibility in how you approach it and genuinely one of my most played and enjoyed games ever. This will get you hyped for Baldur's Gate 3!

Re: Preview: Final Fantasy 16 Still Seems Like a PS5 Must Have, But a Couple of Niggles Need to Be Addressed

J2theEzzo

God of War in 2022: Becomes more 'party' based, rounds Kratos' character, grounds the action to more intimate settings.

FfXVI in 2023: Loses the party focus, becomes about 1 man's quest for revenge, is all about combat, and action; fights literal 'gods' (I.e. Eikons) in giant set pieces.

Did the two top titles of their respective fields just do a genre swap? 🤔

Re: God of War Dev Is Working on Something Inspirational

J2theEzzo

I would really dig a (local?) Coop game, with exceptional production values, and solid gameplay. Something that could play a bit like darksiders genesis, with kratos and atreus together, utilising their different styles and skills... or something like that!

Re: Elden Ring Was a Bigger PS5, PS4 Hit Than Anyone Could Have Ever Predicted

J2theEzzo

@Ravix I think you got it spot on there- not about (just) production values, jank, tone or graphics- which can all vary immensely- but that sense of wonder. ER was my game of last year, and one of very few games that have had me glued to it and still enjoying, after 200 hours. No doubt I'd feel similarly for BOTW or TOTK... but I don't have a switch, so can't compare. But fond memories of Windwaker and OoT confirm that for me.

Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Essential Games for May 2023?

J2theEzzo

Objectively, it's fine- but subjectively: "meh". Not crap, per se, but not enough wide appeal to keep everyone but a very niche crowd happy. The 1 game I'd play, I already have, so I can't say it's a total wipeout, but neither can I say I'm pleased... PS plus needs to start including games that are a bit less divisive, in that sense, as last month seemed objectively better!

Re: PS Store's Massive May Savings and Golden Week Sales Discount Over 2,400 PS5, PS4 Games

J2theEzzo

@Lumic I'd say 'wait for another sale'. I had been tempted to get it for a while and eventually picked it up with all the dlc (ultimate edition?) for about 40 quid, so, given dlc is approx £20, that makes the base game £20 also!
It has been selling for £40 physical in some places, so while this is the cheapest price it's been in a while, in a sense, it isn't the best value?
An enjoyable game though, once you get past the schlocky script and graphics!

Re: PS Plus Essential Games for May 2023 Leaked Early

J2theEzzo

Hmm. Yup. Absolutely nothing here for me! Not a fan of racing games (generally), and the one game I'd be keen on (Chivalry 2) I have, already.
Hopefully this means we'll see a big resurgence in the latter, which is soon to get cross platform parties, and I'll otherwise clear up my backlog!

Was really hoping for Sifu, or Cult of the Lamb, mind. 🥲
