@ExtremeBlue90 You're welcome! It's worth just maybe reading up on (or watching some videos) to get an explanation of how armour class and advantage works- essentially, the higher an enemies defence, the higher your respective stat needs to be to hit them! It's been a good last few months for games though, for sure! Enjoy!
@ExtremeBlue90 A real time rpg, that you can pause, with strategic, turn-based, combat.
It starts quite simply, although can be a bit overwhelming, as you need to know or read up on how DnD works (like which characters or classes can use what weapons effectively, etc.), but once you get a few levels into it, it just feels really fun to play and explore!
Nice! A bit of a reward for the devs, who seem to deserve it, for the work they've put in. Good to see they can still get some pennies, even with being on plus!
Played the original on ps2, and never another since! Did enjoy it, however, and have been meaning to get on 0 and proceed from there. But... there's so many now! How does anyone manage to find time to beat them all, and play other stuff?
@Kienda I'm totally with you in this. Free online multiplayer was why I picked up a ps3, rather than an xbox all those years ago. The only reason I got plus, was so I could continue to play games online with my friends, with the bonus games an extra. Now, I'm thinking ps extra isn't such a bad idea, with a good range of games, but with all the premium new releases, if I could play online without ps plus, I'd happily cancel my subscription.
I'd like it if they brought Kratos back- I really enjoyed playing as him! Preferably the original, over the new... Heihachi would be a good one, now he's no longer in Tekken; uppercut an enemy and have him come in with a flying kick.
Looks alright, from what I can tell! A shooter of a different pacing and type to the more prevalent "cover shooters", I.e. Gears of War. Et all, and not quite Call of Duty. Could be a surprise gem!
@Dragoon1994 If only it were that simple! Already pre-oedered BG3, and if Divinity is anything to go by- this'll be the only game I play for the next year... with a little Diablo sprinkled on top! π
But, the one thing I did read, is that apparently some levels DO have secret areas and boss fights that you can discover for the best secret weapons and parts... Wasn't there an article about how the Moonlight Greatsword is possibly (probably) in the game as a secret unlock? Maybe some levels have more to show than you found!
And now I wonder- is it because of how stacked with releases this year has been... or because more people would have ordered a traditional, turn based approach, or one that used an ATB. π€
Looks good! A nice return to the classic formula, with some much needed coop multiplayer, and added modes! Likely won't purchase, because Baldur's Gate 3, but for those who will, it looks fun. Hopefully it'll make its eventual way to plus!
@Sequel The game sets up 2 'realms', one is called eternal, which is the base story and regular servers, then seasonal realms, you have to make a new character and can play through the added timely content. Think you have to beat the base game before being able to unlock seasonal realm though? And with each new season, your 'seasonal' character gets pushed into the eternal realm, and then can be played with in the base game.
Gave this a try, an incredibly long time ago, (maybe even on Ps3) and was pretty impressed with it, for a free MMO. Making your own hero/ villain was good fun!
@Mikey856 Bloodborne certainly seems to have acquired a huge following, and maybe because it's also associated with early ps4 days, almost like a late lineup addition. Compare that to Sekiro, though- which undoubtedly is still a great, and very From game, but I imagine sales for that were probably less than a typical Souls title? Which even still, were always fairly niche originally- until ER happened, anyway! I reckon since then, many more people are open to picking up and trying other stuff from them, especially as AC is fairly easy to get into, from a purely hands-on perspective, though it can be as near-impenetrable as you like with building your own ideal mech.
@Mikey856 Low, perhaps, comparatively speaking, but lowest? I don't think so. They've really cemented their reputation as a great developer, and a lot of people new to the franchise will want to hop aboard, after the success of ER and Demon's Souls' re-release. I, for one, have always enjoyed AC, and am looking forward to giving it a go!
@Northern_munkey After my cocksure friend ran into a stronghold and my level 28 ranger got killed, I've since had to start a new (solo) HC run. Druid this time. A bit more risk than a ranger, but quite fun.
@Smiffy01 I was feeling a bit cheap and grabbed midnight fight express as an alternative- was surprisingly thrilled! A mix of batman arkham fighting, with some hotline miami vibes!
I mean... it had to be Cloud, really? Haven't seen or played enough of 16 to speak of Clive... Tidus broke the mould with an actual voice, but Zidane was much more charismatic- read: likeable.
Nevertheless, Cloud is the poster boy, and the one most of us would have spent the most time with, so!
Now, if a FF9 remake/remaster happens... we all know the answer would be Vivi π
I do not recall this guy from T7 in the slightest! A later addition from one of the many dlc packs? I know we've had demon's/ devil's, ogres, dinosaurs, kangaroos, cyber ninjas, and several giant robot types, but...I do feel the characters are getting a bit OTT, haha
@HonestHick Yeah, I think there's a surprising amount of versatility, if you don't concentrate on purely min-maxing... I'm not far enough to know whether that's a viable option post level 70, but for the time being, I've been doing fine and it feels like a good, classic hack n slash game. Cheers- and enjoy!
@HonestHick I'm playing barb as my main, tweaked my skills for enjoyment, rather than pure dps and have not only had great fun, but actually feel pretty powerful too!
Mixed bag of stomp (with earthquake aspect), frenzy as a basic skill to build up attack speed, rend (with vulnerable) for proccing bleed damage, kick (for the lols, and decent stun/ vulnerable applicability), death blow (for setting off berserk) and hammer of the ancients, for decent single target damage.
You can be pretty free with whatever aspects you like, or how you want to go on the paragon, but I'm veering towards bleeding people as much as possible, then just booting them to groups of enemies (which also explodes them!), beserking and oneshotting small fry, then just absolutely whaling on bigger enemies with frenzy/rend/ hammer combos. π
It could actually be quite tricky in the first game to meet certain bosses, because of the random nature of how the world's were generated- you'd never know exactly who you'd have to fight until you loaded in. Not to say that's a bad thing (I liked the uncertainty and the fact that bosses could be a bit random!), just means it wasn't as straightforward as initially seemed.
@JonnyAces I would say it's worth holding out on buying (not that you'll need to now!)... it's quite cool and atmospheric, but takes ages to get around from mission to mission, and gameplay gets a bit repetitive and dull before the end!
One of the greatest platform puzzlers from back in the day! I used to love just jumping on things and biting them (still do! π) - and the humour was on point!
The style is cool, but I think it'd be a bit much on the eyes... people struggle enough with motion blur, as is, so don't see how a fluid comic-book approach will go. And yeah... that voice just doesn't do it for me! If it ain't Perlman, it ain't Hellboy.
In DOS2, I went full evil: lich-lord, bonedaddy necromancer, and loved it. Nuked a whole city, like it was Fallout 3, all over again. Can't wait to see what they've got cooking up this time, and how absurdly fiendish I can be!
@NinjaNicky A Dynasty Warriors with character models and combat a bit like this, would be sensational! Add some of the 'xtreme legends' content, like management/ empire mode and it'd be a blast.
Needed unrestricted local play/ local and online (what's a fighting game that doesn't let you play locally with friends?); way more characters, stages and customisation options, that aren't all paid for battle-pass nonsense, and a much more steady and consistent content update, to keep it fresh.
The game was fun, when it worked, but they failed to deliver on many promises, (the 'story'/ arcade mode was terrible) and it ultimately stagnated under a super grindy service model, that felt incredibly unrewarding.
@Aeula This is kinda what I was ferling a while back, that GoW has tried to go a more FF route, (mild rpg mechanics, multiple characters on a journey) while FF16 appears to be going full, single person action machine, like the old GoW games.
